I have never written a so long chapter... But because of that they can be sentences that are a bit bad formulated. I apologize in advance for those mistakes.

I'm sorry about the chaotic chapter from last time... It wasn't meant to be like that. I sometimes forget how much I already have reviled :D

chapter 10: Set up.

How, oh how did William talk her into doing this? Kinana had waited till the others were occupied with something else before speaking to him in person and not only through his eyes. There had been that little hint of sadness that pleaded her to stay. Just one service he said, just one and now she was losing hours just to perform that task. "I took over your duties this morning" was his argument. Indeed he had and happy to do so too. Apparently she was the only one he could trust that wouldn't tell the entire guild at first notice. She had learn about his past and secrets surely not many knew, but as he so well said, "all knowledge has a price that must be paid". And anyway it would be suspicious if William left the guild even if the master claimed he was free to do what ever he wanted. Deep down the boys knew they didn't trust him entirely.

So in result Kinana was visiting every library in town to find a special book named "The science of Fairy's". She some how doubted there actually was a book with that title. She didn't think William was lying, but maybe he got the name wrong. It didn't help either that small drops of water soaked her every time she left a building. After going through every well known library of Mangolia, she went looking in the shops. Fortunately, in a run down book store, the owner- an old smiling man of small height- knew about the book. Sadly he didn't have it.

"It's a very rare book miss. There are probably only two or three examples on the continent," said the man. "May I ask what purpose it will serve you?"

"Oh only a friend who asked if I could find it for him in one of the library's of town," she answered, smiling back at him.

"Then why are you searching in a shop little miss? We only sell books here you see."

"I have been to every library in town already. I was only hoping I would find it by chance in one of the shops."

"Then little miss, I suggest you go back to the biggest library in town and look up the book on your own. They have it there but since it's a rare book no one ask about it and with time the knowledge of its existence vanished. Now I am telling you a secret little miss, so don't go say this to every one. That book would be burned to ashes if someone with power got hold of it."

The little man's eyes glowed with excitement. Despise he smiling brightly, she understood without question that he meant every word he said.

"And please miss," he added after she had thanked him properly and promised she would show his book shop to the bookworm of the guild, "tell your friend all knowledge has it's price."

Odd, she though while half running toward the principal library in town, that the man had said the same thing as William. Entering the library she first visited that morning a second time, she walked over to the reception to ask about the book. Maybe this one knew.

"I'm sorry ma'me. we don't have that book," answered the teenager at the desk. Same answer as last time. She therefore asked for the place for old books and was directed to the far end of the library. The shelf where huge and the light dim. Apparently, after what the old man said, it would be one of the books on the highest shelf, toward the wall. That's were it was supposed to be if no one had moved it.

"Don't mind climbing," said a voice coming from above when she was going to reach for the ladder. "I suppose your looking for this book?"

Looking up the ladder she saw a figure sited on the top of the ladder showing her a book, the book. It was an old brown leather book destroyed with time and pages sticking out. She didn't know why, but she suddenly got the urge to run. Maybe this was a trap, maybe she was supposed to come here and this person that she didn't see all clad in black was supposed to meet her and then...and then who knows what could happen to her. Maybe there was a reason why the master didn't trust the boy just yet.

"Oi, did you hear what I said?" asked the figure. A male, definitely a male. His voice was smooth. She snapped out of her daydream.

"Huh?"

"Yeah I guessed so?" He sighted and jumped down without any difficulties right in front off her. He didn't have the book though. " I said: 'is it William that send you?'"

Up close she could see him more clearly. It was a teenager for sure. He wasn't that high yet, but he would probably be. Half his face was hidden behind his long black locks flying in all directions. He was wearing a dark blue top, black baggy jeans rolled up to his knees with chains hanging on the side, black combat boots, an open black sweater, dark blue gloves stopping at the beginning of his fingers, and to top it all: a black dress hat. His skin was creamy and his brown eyes soft. She was shocked by the contrast. She would have though he was a gangster or something, if not for those eyes filled with something she didn't quite pinpoint. Was it fear?

"Do tell when you're finished examining me," he said half joking. "And do please answer the question. I need to know I can trust you." He wore a bored expression and the fact that she could only see one of his eyes was destabilizing.

"Yes,William said he wanted me to get the book you were holding," she answered smiling. "But he never said anything about a person."

"I suppose he didn't. Well forget about the book, he's not interested." He turned away, prepared to leave.

"How can you be so sure?"

"Oh, sorry, I totally forgot. You don't know me. Well," he stretched out his hand, "I'm your freeloader's best friend. Nice to meet you." She shock his hand lightly. "I don't bite you know? Well anyway, trust me he only wanted you to get the book to check if I was here or not." He started walking of before asking: "You're coming?"

She didn't trust him, but there was that little thing in his eyes, that sincerity.

"Look Kinana," he said turning to face her again, "I can't lie. I can try but it is impossible. You ought to be as dense as Nastu to not see that I am lying. So if you want to stay here and find the book, go a head do so. But I am telling you, County isn't interested in books like that, but he knows I am. And he also know that if we ever were to go back in time this would be the only place he could find me. Now I know you already have done a great deal but do you mind giving him a message?"

The woman only stared at the boy. "You're from the future," she whispered as if afraid to say it out loud. He only nodded, she nodded back. "Go a head."

"Do please tell him I don't know but I am looking it up. As for others, they might be many of us here. And tell him not to stress about knowledge, it's the spell he thing it is. And I will be back at the guild soon, I just have to check some things first." And with that he bowed.

"What is your name?"

"Just say it's from Dimwit, he'll understand." He smiled brightly.

"Wait," she suddenly remembered an important detail, "where are you going?"

"Home. Tell him I'm going home." And with that he walked off, disappearing in the shadows as if swallowed up.

"Where is home?" she asked to no one.

~O~

She ran the fastest she could through the woods. Her legs hurt so much. She wasn't much of a sprinter and when running away from problems, she always managed to fall. Hopping over the stones with no problem even if it required a good deal of energy she silently thanked her cousin for teaching her how to survive.

Several minutes earlier.

After leaving Fairy Hill, the little spy hurried to the woods where her cousin had asked her to meet him. She wasn't entirely curtain why he was interested in a very old parchment with drawings that could have been made by a child. Walking up the path to the meeting point she wandered why they didn't meet up in town, instead of the wood far away from Mangolia. Actually she was closer to Sabertooth than Fairy Tail. The rain didn't help her either. Of course the trees were very helpful so she wasn't that soaked, but that didn't mean the soil was dry. On the contrary, she had nearly fallen three times and actually slipped on a stone and hit the ground only one time.

She arrived at the meeting point an hour after leaving the city. It was a clearing with a run down house. She used to play here with her father and mother when she was younger. Well it didn't exactly look the same now, the house was still in a presentable state.

"Well, well, well, look who took the time to come see me," said a male voice behind her back. She spun around to come face to face with a tall, slim and ironical beautiful young man.

"Eros," stated the girl.

"Norastre," was his answer. He had silver hair, pale skin and eyes darker than the midnight sky.

"What are you doing here?" she asked insecure about what to do. Her golden eyes shining of anger and fear.

"Oh but aren't you here to meet me dear, dear cousin?" He walked slowly toward her with steady steps. Nora felt her self backing away.

"I'm here to meet The genie, not you. He send me a message." she could hear her own unsteady voice and cursed herself for it.

"Are you afraid of me, deary? You shouldn't though. I would never harm you." He was wearing a white T-shirt under a black dress jacket, black tight leather pants, a pair of new black sport shoes and around his wrist a golden chain that he got from his mother when he turned 18 this year. It was actually a whip but it was curving around his wrist so you could not see it.

"Why are you here?" she asked more fierce than she intended.

"Oh, the little kitty want to play the lion. But I though you were more clever than that. You see, deary, I send that message you are destroying in your palm. Do you honestly believe your dear little cousin need that piece of paper when he probably already know them by heart?" His voice was sweet and sticky just like honey.

"Then what do you want this for?" she asked holding up the parchment she found in Madam Levy's room.

"I need it. Now give it to me." He said trying to snap the paper out of her hand. But he was to slow because the girl had already rolled down and placed herself on the other side of the clearing putting the parchment in one of the pockets of her leather jacket.

"What are you playing at?" he shouted at her.

"I am not playing." She breath out trying to get back her calm.

'You need to master your emotion when you're in a fight. You never know when your opponent will use it against you. And any way don't let you emotion cloud your mind, don't let them control you: control them.' She remembered one of her cousin said, or was she supposed to call her sensei? Regaining her cool, she slid one of her knife from under her jacket, hidden from view. It was small silver dagger that was very light. She had sharpened it two days ago so she was surtain the blade would cut through everything she wanted. The hilt and the dagger were connected with a shining green stone.

"Oh I see: an emerald dagger. I haven't seen one of thous in years. Do you even know how to use it? I'm impressed you're not holding the blade." He's voice was tainted with amusement. " But if you want to play the killing game, I would happily play with you." At that he drew a short sword from behind his back. There were nothing special about it, just the fact that it was entirely black and seamed to absorb the light that touched it.

Nora hadn't though of that. She though her cousin was without protection, but she should have guessed: he was a wanted man.

"It's not a game," she snapped at him.

"Dear cousin, every things a game." In a quick movement he was beside her, the sword raised in one arm.

In a swift movement she managed to dodge the hit by jumping backward. Oh, how many times she trained with her "sensei" where she won, but her cousin was three years older and higher than her, and she doubted he was going easy on her. The big hole in the ground where the sword had hit was only proof of that. No he would kill her if he needed to.

"Just tell me what you want with it," screamed the girl over at her cousin. She had taken out a second blade so she ended up with one in each hand. 'not a good idea,' said a voice in the back of her head that she ignored. She did however remember her cousin saying: ' Only hold a blad in each arm when you have no other options. It is better to have one free for hitting or catching.' From there she let her body work on automatic.

"Ah, are you scared now? Well it's to late, you wanted to play, so we are going to play." He ran at her again, but instead of attacking from the front, he jumped in the air raising the sword with his two hands.

This gave her the possibility to launch forward and steady herself away from the blade. She turned around in a swift and graceful manner and trough on of the knife straight at her cousin. This one hit his upper arm making him lose control over his blade that when straight in the ground making a crater. Just before she launched her body to hit him she remembered the most basic rules her sensei said:

"When you come face to face with danger the first thing to do is to see if you can beat him. How to check? Easy: do you know how to take it down or do you not. If not, there is only one thing you should thing of: run. Doesn't matter what it is, even if it's an animal: get to safety. With more training you can take one more things, but since you barley know how to hold a dagger, you run!" She remember running for days thinking that her sensei was crazy. Right now she was thankful.

Taking the other dagger, she tossed it toward her cousins leg. He stumbled to the ground. But she knew she had only given him a scratch, not even a wound. Not bothering watching Eros she ran the fastest she could in the opposite direction from were she came from. She was nearest Sabertooth now, better run there and ask for help.

She Had been running with her cousin many times, but one thing she always forgot was that the body could not hold the speed to long. She slowed down to a jog. When she felt better again, she quicken the past. Somewhere in her run she managed to hang her jacket on a branch. Taking out her preferred knife carved in steel and shadows decorated with rubies, she cut of the lower part of her jacket.

Seeing the old oak tree she used to love as a child she new she was nearly there. Preparing the knife she didn't tidy, she stab it in the trunk of the tree and turned with the help of holding something. The speed made her jump meters before touching the ground, also helping to increase her speed. She had to sacrifice her dagger though. It was her birthday gift from her father. A proof he was proud of her.

She new these woods, but sometimes your mind betrayed you. Standing tall in front of her was a cliff. Running the way she came from was not an option. She started to climb the wet stones praying for her cousin to have lost her and never come after her. That was to much to ask for. Grabbing the next step on her little mountain, she felt something curl around her ankle. Not thinking much about it she continued. However the gold chain around her ankle pulled her down. Her hand slipped and she fell straight down right in front of her cousin. She would have broken a rib or two if the bushes were not there.

"Running away are we?" he smiled down at her, his whip still around her ankle clearly saying she could not run.

"What do you want?" she spat.

"I want the formula. What do you thing? You though I was going to rape you or what?"

"What is so important about a piece of paper?"

"You tell me, you're the one nearly killing your self just to protect it." She wasn't going to say a thing. "Well look, you are actually a lot like me aren't you?" Laughter erupted from his black painted mouth. "You don't know do you?"

In a last attempt to save her pride she un-sheltered her last dagger holding it with both her hands in front of her. At the sight of the dagger carved in a blue stone the laughter doubled over.

"What are you going to do with that? You can't possibly know how to use a sapphire blade. You must start to feel the drenching force of it. Don't you know they feed on blood. And right know it feeds on you."

She winced. She could feel small tentacles entering her hands twisting and turning in her palm. She would not scream even if the pain was unbearable. "What do you want?" she said mainly to forget about the pain.

"This little thing you so eagerly protect is the spell protecting boys from entering Fairy Hill. It's also the spell protecting the unwanted away from touching a certain book I want. You should now it. It's you precious sensei's."

"But you... Why do you want a dairy?" She was whispering since there where no more energy in her body.

"Because there are secrets in that book you and I would never know. Secrets that can destroy Fairy Tail from inside out. But first I'm going to get ride of annoying family relations. Did you know your sister was here? Maybe I will start with her."

Nora felt herself tense and then she felt the agony of blood being sucked out of her body. She had stolen the blade, just to watch it, see how it worked. She shouldn't have.

"You made a vow," she managed to say. "We made the same vow: you can't... kill."

She felt her body give up and than it was black. "but you can always break a vow," was the last thing she heard.

(Flashback) Mangolia year x810

"I don't think this is a good idea Dimwit," said a green haired boy hidden behind a tree.

"Shhhht, or they hear you," whispered the black haired boy back.

The two nine year old boys were currently spying on two older girls laying in the grass in front of Fairy Hills: one with pink hair and one with blue. They got that idea, or rather the black haired boy got that idea, when the blue haired had ran out of the guild hall and the pink one right after. The two boys where currently sited behind the last row of trees before Fairy Hills.

"I mean it," he whispered back, "this is not a good idea. Might I remind you that one of them is a dragon?"

"And that is why you should stay still."

"Are you actually hearing something?" William asked after a moment.

"Yes. Wait you don't?" asked his friend in a barley audible whisper.

"No I don't."

"You should get your ears checked," was what he answered.

"And you should both get your brain checked. What do you guys think your doing?" Came the low whisper of a girls voice. The two boys stared at one another before looking at the girl. "What?" she asked harshly.

"It's just," started Willy," what are you doing here?"

"What am I doing? Following you idiots. What are you doing?"

With no shame at all the other boy whispered: "spying on the girls. But shhht, or they here you."

The girl nodded and sat close up to William who felt very unconformable being this close to a girl.

"Hey Natalia," whispered the boy in her ear,"what are they talking about?"

"Death," she answered blankly.

"What?" In a delicate movement, she lend over the boy to shut him up, something that made him blush a nice shade of red.

"Not so load, they'll hear you. They are talking about the dead"

"Why are they talking to the dead?"

"Not to the dead, about the dead. You really should get your ears checked."

"You heard that from him," he said in a matter of fact voice while pointing to his friend seated behind an other tree.

"Yes and?" She looked at him as if he was challenging her.

"So what exactly are they saying about the dead? Do you guys know dead people?"

"You really should think before saying things. Don't you know the tragic story of the two youngster that died a long time ago. That's what they are talking about. Their decided siblings."

"Wait you had an older brother or sister?"

"Keep it down," she hissed. "But yes I did, have a brother I mean. I have never seen him though. I was only one when it happened."

"So you have a brother that died eight years and no one have ever told me?"

"Shhht, will the two of you keep it down? or they... Oh seriously guys?" The boy under the other tree started to whisper but ended up speaking normally. The two others didn't get it before an angry female voice was looming over them.

"What are the three of you doing?" Asked the imposing pink haired girl. The three of them looked at each other, then at the girl, at each other again and in a common movement the three of them were sprinting down the hill the fastest they could. Strangely Natalia and Dimwit were seam to know precisely where to run to hide. That made him wounder if they actually had done that before.

"Let me guess," said the blue haired beauty, "the same as always?"

"You guessed it right, but this time they dragged William with them to," answered the pink haired watching her guild mates run away. "They really need to stop doing that, following us I mean."

"Or maybe next year won't sit in the middle of the most known place of Fairy Hills," said her friend sarcastically.

"No, next year we need to pull up a prank."
