Abraham glanced around the parlor room, every pair of eyes were trained onto him as he looked at every head member of the found families. He called for them earlier than their usual time and place.
They needed to know.
"Thank you all for coming. I know this is earlier than usual, but I believe that there is a new vampire in town," he informed the council, earning various looks from the irritation to worry.
"How do you know? Could it be a nest?" Liz Forbes asked curiously.
"Might be more than one. The patterns are different, bite marks too," Abraham explained. "Also that we need to prepare for the worst and to be extremely cautious-"
"You don't need to remind us on how this whole thing works," Mayor Lockwood told him with a hint of arrogance.
"You know of nothing," Abraham said roughly then scoffed. "All you know is fairytales, have you met vampires or any supernatural creature? They are dangerous...more than you will ever know. I've been dealing with them my entire life. One of your own is missing. Logan Fell was a prominent member of this council, he knows everything and everyone of you. All your secrets. He had the compass to lead you to vampires. Now he's gone. Vanished. These creatures have him."
"I think that he's dead," Liz replied.
Abraham shook his head. "I don't think so. If these things were smart, then they would have kept him alive and learned everything about all of you. Or to perhaps turn him and use him for information on everything. Secrets and all. When a vampire is born, their former selves are completely gone, humanity disappeared and very few actually come back from that."
Mayor Lockwood questioned, "How many?"
"I haven't met one in the last thirty years that I have been hunting them."
I can feel it.
I thought that I was okay, but I guess that I was wrong.
The darkness follows me everywhere-even in my fucking dreams. I want it to go away!
Ugh, I am seriously thinking of killing that asshole for doing this to me. Damn you, Damon Salvatore for turning Vickie and forcing my hand into the mess that you created.
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and took it, seeing that it was Stefan calling me. I hit ignore, already feeling guilty for blowing him off today. I had to find out. I looked up at the house of Bonnie's grandmother. I knew that I needed to contact another witch to figure out who the hell gave me the tarot card and the meaning behind it. I tried to look on the internet for the meaning, but all I came up with for bullshit. Besides, I don't really trust the internet to provide me with all the answers to my problems
I knocked on the door and a minute later, the woman named Sheila Bennett came out with a frown on her face. She shook her head at me and I huffed, throwing my hands up in the air.
"You don't even know why I'm here! That's a little judgemental, don't you think?"
She crossed her arms over her chest and gave me a look. "You're trouble. I sensed it long ago and you're going to get my granddaughter in trouble as well."
"Why do you think I'm even here? I stopped that shit long ago, I made mistakes and I didn't want to be that person-"
"Only seventeen years old and you're already a legend in the witch community," she reminded me. "You didn't just make mistakes, girl, you did much more than that."
"I know what I did so need to give me a history lesson," I said in frustration. "I'm here to protect this town from bloodshed. All I want is to be left alone and be a kid again like before. I shouldn't be dealing with all of this power at my age. I shouldn't be this tired, Miss Bennett. Look, I got this a couple of days ago and someone in a freaking devil mask gave it to me on Halloween."
I took out the devil tarot card and showed it to the old witch who nodded and let me inside of her home. She served me some tea as we sat on the couch when she began to inspect the card.
"How was it given? Up or down?"
"Down. What does it mean?"
"Well, usual this card is not as frightening as it seems to be. It doesn't mean you're going to hell or something like that...it means that things may not be nearly as bad as they seem in this moment of your life. Now when reversed this card reminds the person to stay clear on the fact that life can turn on a dime, and sometimes those 'turns' are very positive. It also means that when you receive the card that you may feel out of control."
"I thought you said that it wasn't a bad card."
"It's not meant to be, but given your history, Miss Wilson and the women of your family...this card is a warning to you."
I nodded and drank some of my tea. "Believe me, I got that when you said that it means that my life can clearly turn on a freaking dime. Now it's out of my control as well since I was forced to use to magic to stop a vampire and now the darkness is slowly coming back."
"Expression has always been dark. You knew that before."
"I thought that I could control it and not end up like my sister did."
"I have seen wicked people and evil ones as well. Your sister is the worser of the two. I thought that you were gone too, trying to prove some point," Sheila admitted.
I sighed heavily, knowing that it was kinda true. "Sometimes it felt that way. It was like I was a vampire and I turned off my humanity. My sister is gone and she made sure that she could never feel again. She thought it was weakness."
"Do you know where she is?"
I shrugged. "I don't care. I lost her long ago. I try not to let myself miss her, but sometimes I look at Damon and Stefan...of all siblings, I admire them. They tried to be there for each other, but I gave up on her."
"It's not a one-sided fault, Jade Wilson. Your sister decided to run and not make right whatever it was that was going on with her, she took the easy way out, but at least you let the light in again."
I shook my head, waiting to quickly change the subject since my sister was another topic I dared not go into unless I had downed at least two bottles of vodka.
"So do you know any covens who pull this tarot card shit?"
"It could be either The Moon Siren Circle or the Wives Of The Raven."
I scoffed. "You've got to be kidding me. Those are such obvious names. Wow. You guys and the vampires really aren't tryna hide from the humans, are you?"
She smiled at me. "We've been hiding for too long, but we all can agree that if humans were to find out about us...their tiny minds couldn't handle it all."
I nodded and replied, "Thanks again for helping me find out. I have changed and I don't want anyone else getting hurt for what I did."
"You were tryna save that boy from a vampire."
"Jeremy loved-"
"Not that one," she said evenly. "The other one. We all heard about you standing up to vampires older than any of the ones you've met before and you tryna save that boy from them."
I gulped nervously and looked away, the memory of my past almost too painful to forget. I wished I didn't remember, but I did. "I...Will didn't deserve to die."
"None of them did, but witches are powerless against vampires because we don't want anybody to get hurt."
Tears in my eyes, I nodded as I wiped them away. "I am only seventeen and yet it feels like yesterday that everything was taken from me."
"Life moves on and now so do you. He would want that for you."
I nodded and said blankly, "Thank you again for helping me. I have to go. Tell Bonnie I said hello."
I left in a hurry, my emotions getting the best of me. The darkness was coming I could feel it. It was boiling up inside of me as I got into my car and drove as fast as I could. I started to drive away from Mystic Falls, from Stefan and Damon, Elena and my dad. Even Vicki. I wanted it all gone.
I looked down at my arms and saw the familiar black veins pulsing. I groaned in pain and drove my car into the woods suddenly, getting out and falling to the ground.
He was a good person who loved me even when I was at my worse and love was weakness then.
I screamed out in sorrow and tears fell down my face. I wanted to scratch my eyes out, I wanted to feel pain other than in my own heart. I couldn't stop the memories from coming forth in my mind even as I plunged into darkness.
Where am I?
I looked around the darkness or at least I thought I was when a sudden beam of light came into my eyes.
Damon didn't know where he was actually, all he knew was that he wasn't in the real world anymore. He glanced around the house he suddenly popped up in and saw the familiar black haired woman. He raised an eyebrow at her and smirked.
"Well, well, well, hello Jade," he said, but she didn't turn around.
Damon shrugged and sat down next to her. She looked different, but Damon couldn't explain how. In fact, her attitude was different too. She had this air of...seduction. Damon liked this version of Jade a lot.
Her hair was longer and almost down to her hips when she stood up from the couch and went to grab a rock.
"I am in your head, aren't I? Hm...interesting turn of events. I wonder why I am in your pretty little witchy head. Maybe it's the trick you did with me and seeing my mind. You let me, huh?" Damon asked curiously though he knew he would get no response from her.
Jade suddenly smashed the rock in her hand and spread the pieces all around her as she sat on the back of her legs on the floor. She started to chant in another language as the lights started to flicker. Damon stood up and cautiously glanced around when an earthquake appeared.
"So you cause earthquakes too?" Damon said in frustration. "Great. Just fucking great."
The door burst open and Damon asked Jade, "Who the hell is he?"
The boy was Jade's age and quite handsome in a teenage kind of way. He had a boyish look to him that reminded Damon of another certain human who has been enamoured with Jade recently.
"Jade! Stop it!" He yelled at her and shook her violently before shoving the pieces of the rock aside.
Jade came back to herself as the earthquake stopped. "What the hell, Will?! You just screwed up everything!"
"No I just saved you from doing something stupid. Why are you messing with this stuff anyways? You know what Beatrice told you! You can't do it."
"Fuck my sister," Jade growled. "What does she know? I will prove it to her that I can defeat her for the title of high priest of our coven. I can become the most powerful witch alive. The greatest."
Will looked twice at Jade and said softly, "I fell in love with you because you were different than her. She's willing to do anything to get the power of a high priest. You aren't. You know what is right from wrong. Don't let her ruin you."
"You are the one that's ruining me," she sneered at him. "You just want me because I am the only one protecting you from her. You love me because then they can't find you."
"She's working for bad people who know other very powerful people."
"I will be more powerful than her and I will kill my sister and become the high priestess of our coven then I will bring back my mother and sister."
Will looked down in defeat. "Then I can't be with you, Jade. Not when you're like this."
"I thought you loved me."
"Me too, but this path you're going down." Will started to cry which made Damon roll his eyes. "I can't follow you down it."
Jade was stunned and said softly, "So you're leaving me then? I guess all that shit you said about always and forever, that was bullshit, yes?! You're so full of shit!"
Will turned to leave the room when the door burst open and winds crashed against their faces as two vampires held them both down.
Damon gasped awake on his bed and he looked around curiously. He stood up and started to put on his clothes, smirking when he heard Lexi's footsteps echo.
"Where is Jade?" He heard Lexi ask Stefan which Damon frown.
He didn't want to...have emotions about Jade. He considered her to something of a nuisance on his mind especially after taking the stone back from her. Damon didn't know what Emily was up to with having Jade destroy the stone. She really didn't want Katherine back, but maybe Jade did...or her wicked witch of the west alter ego did. Damon thought of bringing her out more and let her be in the driver's seat of Jade's body for a while, it would help with his plans to bring Katherine back.
Damon's trip inside of Jade's memories really concerned him especially after whatever the hell Jade was tryna to do. She was trying to get more powerful than her sister, Damon wanted to know why exactly she stopped.
I can't remember how long I was asleep for. I just remember the darkness taking over me again and passing out.
I groaned as I awoke and saw that it was nighttime. "Oh crap…not again."
I gasped when I looked around and saw myself in a cave. Emily came to mind as I stared at a stone covering a hole in the wall with a six pointed star. I stood up and wiped the dirt from my jeans before putting my hand to it. I started to hear the voices behind the star and whispered, "Why am I here? Why did you bring me here?"
I backed away and closed my eyes, chanting for a moment. The stone started to move aside, my arms went up. I felt it pulling closer to me. I tried to stop myself, but I couldn't. I couldn't even stop chanting. What the hell is going on?!
"No."
I opened my eyes and saw Emily holding my hands. "Why?"
"Those vampires have been trapped there for one hundred and forty-five years, starving, but still alive. Beatrice wants them free, she has people watching you," Emily told me hurriedly. "Don't let them out. Whatever it takes, Jade, don't let them free or they will kill innocents."
I nodded. "I promise. No one will get hurt anymore. I will stop my sister."
Emily smiled at me. "I know you will. If anyone can defeat Beatrice and Klaus, it is you."
I furrowed my brows in confusion. "Klaus? Who is that?"
"Too soon, Jade. Focus on the tomb vampires...your father is not what he seems. Your family never was."
I shook my head and asked, "My father? What is going on?"
"Go. All soon will be revealed and you will be needed, but stay hidden."
I nodded and turned to leave, going up the steps. I didn't know what Emily was telling me. Beatrice and some guy named Klaus are teaming up? My father can't be trusted? Also she said that I am the only one who can defeat them...I just wanna sleep and be normal honestly. Who the hell was Klaus anyways?!
What the fuck is happening?!
"Jay, there you are!"
I heard Matt say and I saw that I came out of the basement of the Mystic Grill. I glanced around as Matt looked at me in confusion. "Um...hi, Matty."
"Why were you in the basement?"
"Why weren't you in the basement?"
Matt smiled and chuckled. "Because I'm not weird, Jay. Seriously why were you there?"
"Oh, you know," I drawled out, putting my hands behind my back, trying to look innocent. "I was looking to score some boos for whatever is going on."
"You means Care's party?"
"Yup!" I shouted and gave him a wide grin. "That's exactly what I meant. Caroline's party. I'm here for that. No, I went to go look for free boos. This place is way overpriced for me. No offense, Matt."
Matt laughed and kissed my cheek. "You're very cute when you're awkward. After work, you and I?"
I nodded. "Yes. I would love to. I want ice cream though...I'm in a mood."
Matt nodded and opened his mouth to reply when Stefan's face came into our space. Rude. "Hey...Stefan."
"Hi. I need to borrow Jade."
"Jade is refusing." I said in third person.
"Stefan really wants Jade to talk to him especially since it's his birthday," a blonde girl said with a large smile as she shoulder bumped Stefan. What the hell? Teasing Stefan is my thing. Our thing! Who the hell are you?!
"Who are you?" I said rudely because I am Jade. "Why do you know it's his birthday and not me? Stefan, explain!"
"I am his oldest best friend," she answered. "I'm Lexi."
I studied her and before I walked away, I said, "I don't like her."
"Wait, Jay," Stefan called out to me then caught up to me. "C'mon. Get along with her, you both mean a lot to me."
I looked beside him and at Lexi, crossing my arms over my chest when she said, "Wow...you're interesting."
"Thank you."
"And pissy."
"Yeah, hi, my name is Jade Wilson."
Lexi nodded. "I like you."
I shrugged and turned to walk away, but then turned back around when I saw Damon walking towards me. "Who has a stake?"
Lexi laughed. "I don't, but I will find one in less than a second if you're planning to kill Damon."
"You hate Damon?"
"Damon's a little bitch so yes."
I smiled then at her and said to Stefan, "She hates Damon."
Stefan nodded. "I would've told you that if you would have listened to me. Where were you by the way? You were gone the entire day."
I gave him a look. "Later, Stef."
"Well, well, well, hello Jade. I missed you," Damon mused as he tried to put his arm around my shoulders before he hissed in pain.
"You're a witch," Lexi stated in complete amusement. "And you just hurt Damon."
I shrugged. "I hurt him every day, but he just keeps coming back. Is this what Katherine did you, Damon?"
Lexi scoffed. "Sounds about right."
Damon growled down at me, "Jade, we need to talk."
"Everyone wants to talk to me tonight, huh?" I said and glared at Damon. "No way in hell."
"What happened with Will?"
I froze and slowly turned to Damon. My heart was pounding and it seemed the vampires around me were very well-aware of it. "How-"
He tapped my temple and smirked. "Like I said, we need to talk."
I nodded. "Stefan if I don't come back in thirty minutes then you know that I killed Damon."
Damon and I walked outside and to an alleyway. God, I am just asking to be killed right now. "What do you know about Will?"
Damon leaned against the wall and smirked once again at me. "I had an interesting dream or at least I thought it was. It was a memory of yours...I was in your head. Why?"
"I lost control of my powers. I lost track of time and I don't remember the last ten hours or so."
Damon shook his head. "What? You blacked out?"
I nodded. "Yup. What happened in your dream of me?"
"In your head, I must have been when the earthquake in California happened. You created it and you were trying to get power. Will stopped you and was going to leave your ass when he saw how the darkness consumed you. Then vampires came in and held you guys down. Then I woke up."
"Damon, it can't happen again."
"What do you want me to do about it?"
"Kill me. I can't have that side of me come out...not yet."
Damon looked suspiciously at me. "What do you mean by 'not yet'?"
I gave him a grin, a mischievous one. "When you free Katherine and those tomb vampires then I will use it."
Damon frowned at me. "How the hell-"
I scoffed. "Damon, I was inside of your head remember? Besides you seem to have pissed off a certain witch."
Damon leaned closer to me and said in a deathly calm voice, "If you or Stefan get in my way then I will give everyone you love a very slow death. I will make you watch too."
I rolled my eyes. "Same old threats, Damon."
"Where is your dad anyways?"
The smile left my face as I took out my phone and began to dial his numbers. Damon twisted my wrist in his hand and pulled me closer, whispering in my ear, "Your weakness is daddy dearest so if I were you, I would leave this party-in fact, leave town or I will kill Stefan, your daddy, Elena-everyone, Jade. You know I can do it."
"I killed the man I loved Damon because he got in my way," I told him and Damon's eyes whipped to mine, holding them. "I killed Will. I took the life from his body and gave it to myself. He turned to ash. Don't you dare threaten me again or else I will make sure you never get Katherine out of there. The tomb vampires can't get out."
Damon smirked. "So it sounds like to me that you're going to help me get Katherine out as long as I don't kill everyone and don't let the tomb vampires out."
"Yes, Damon. I want you gone."
"Should we seal our deal with another kiss?"
"Another kiss?" Stefan questioned when he came to stand in front of us with Lexi behind him. "What the hell happened? Why did you kiss him, Jade?"
"Uh-oh," Damon mused with a smirk. "Someone's in trouble."
"I-I didn't. He kissed me," I defended quickly.
"When?" Stefan asked.
"At the founder's party…"
Stefan gave me a very judging look and that did not sit well with me. He never looked at me like that before.
"What?!" I snapped at Stefan.
He let out a low sigh as Lexi said, "Stefan, don't."
"Look," he began which made Damon chuckle.
"Watch out, he's about to scold you, witchy," Damon said to me.
"I thought you were changing, Jade."
"I did."
"Why did you kiss Damon of all people then?"
"I didn't!"
He was really starting to piss me off. I inhaled when suddenly glass started to break behind me. I started to move in front of Stefan as Damon stood in my way, his hands on my shoulders.
"Bad idea and you know it," he said softly. "Walk away. Cool off before you go wicked witch on everyone."
When I didn't move, Damon glared and snarled, "Jade, leave right now."
My hands curled into fists as I sneered back at him, "Fine."
I pushed Damon out of my way and sent a glare towards Stefan as I left. I heard Lexi say to Stefan, "Not cool. Jade, wait!"
I grabbed a piece of chalk from the daily specials board on my way out and went to the alleyway. I drew a door and then knocked on it as the wall began to open.
I walked into my room and slammed the wall shut. I hate Stefan.
He's treating me like Damon. Damon won't change, I did. I stopped moving and thought that maybe he must've heard my admission to Damon about Will. That scared me. Will was innocent and I was the cause of his death. I killed him because I wanted power. He was my weakness and I wanted to get rid of him.
I miss him everyday.
I took out a zebra printed box and almost cried when I saw the familiar photos and memories of Will and I. I remember him bringing this ugly ass box home and declaring that we were going to be together forever so he wanted to create a box of us.
I smiled when I pulled out the foam finger of our first game together and then the tears came down my face when I saw the photo of us at the carnival. It was our first date. I won stuffed animals while he went through six bags of cotton candy.
I took out his plaid shirt, smelling it.
"That's not creepy at all."
I jumped when I saw Damon standing in my bedroom. "Damn it, Damon! You weren't invited in!"
Damon smirked. "How's Papa Wilson?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. He still alive?"
"Yup. How are you? You're not gonna go all green on me, are you? Then I would have to throw water at you and watch your pretty face melt."
I laughed. "I'm fine as long as I don't see Stefan. I can't believe he would say those things to me. He knows how I feel."
I huffed angrily as I fell onto the bed, moving the box aside. Damon laid down next to me, saying, "That's goody two shoes Stefan for you. You learn to shrug it off. He does that...alot."
"I don't like being judged. I already beat myself up for what I've done. I've lost too much."
Damon looked to the box, then to me. "Will's box?"
I nodded. "You don't keep things of Katherine?"
"She never let me have everything," Damon replied. "All I had was that stone, that's it."
I turned to him and frowned. "I'm sorry. When Will died, I took everything of his. My dad...he tried getting me to throw it all out."
"What about Will's family?"
I shook my head. "He didn't have any. He was an orphan."
"Tell me about your mom and sisters."
I sighed heavily. "You already know about Beatrice. She's a bitch...but my other sister, she was the Glinda. She was human and was the nicest person ever. She knew how to pacify Beatrice and I and calm us down when we got into a fight. She dyed her hair dark purple and I remember my mom being so mad at her. My dad thought it was cool. My mom on the other hand was pissed that my dad wasn't being responsible."
Damon laughed. "That sounds like Papa Wilson. He's crazy, right?"
I nodded. "After my mom died, I think he's secretly tryna find a to bring her back. I wish he wouldn't bring her back though. We should move on."
"That sucks."
Damon and I stared into each other's eyes as I responded, "Yeah...that does suck."
He leaned closer to me and then was on top of me, kissing me again. Damon's hands roamed my body as our tongues danced together. I wrapped my arms around his neck, moaning when he kneaded my breast.
"Damon," I moaned softly, pulling away to cup his face in my hands.
"Don't say it."
I gave him a small smile. "Okay. I won't."
