Agh hiatus is so long- why-agh- I'm so sorry. 3 I'll try and be better about this, really I will, but for now I am here to you with a new chapter. So, hope you enjoy. :3 Hetalia isn't mine. The other characters are though. Also, this is now gonna have a lot more of Aviana's viewpoints since, well, this story IS mainly about her, and now the story's picking up, so, look forward to that!

...

Aviana

For what seemed like ages I just stood there, in utter shock, staring at the guilty looks of my family. Lilium and Gabe just stood there awkwardly, knowing a land mine has been stepped on, but not sure what to do or say. Finally Lilium spoke up, saying they probably needed to go and let us process everything that occurred, and that she'll come back soon so I could start my "training".

"No." Papa simply said, standing up immediately and staring down Lilium (who stared right back). "I am not having her do anything dangerous like this, I will not allow you to just waltz in and-"

"Come by tomorrow and we can get started, mentor." Everyone whipped their heads towards me in surprise, until Lilium grinned excitedly and ran over to hug me again.

"Eeeeee! I can't believe it I'm a mentor now I always wanted to have a rookie for myself oh my God I'm so excited I-"

"Ahem." Gabriel interrupted by clearing his throat. "I hate to stop you there but uh," He silently motioned towards a slightly-dejected looking Papa and then me, "We should probably leave them to themselves for the night." Lilium pouted. "Ugh, I hate it when you're right." She then perked up again and her gem on her wrist began to glow, followed by Gabriel's glowing right eye, and then they disappeared, just like that. Suddenly a little note flashed and appeared on the table. I picked it up to read it.

'See ya tomorrow for training, Rookie! Oh, and good luck with those daddy issues of yours. *snicker*~

Love Lili :3 PS. Tell that grumpus with the gay curl on his head to take the stick outta his ass and smile!'

I stared at the note, mystified by it and everything going on around me. Okay, at that last part I actually laughed a little. However when I repeated the note to everyone I didn't read that bit.

"OKAY, this is too weird even for the awesome me." Prussia spoke up, looking quite confused and slightly scared.

"But mon ami," France tried to argue, before he was dragged out the door by Prussia. "Look Spain, you and the two brats obviously got some stuff to work out. We'll come back later, and I'll call you. Til then, um, g'night." And with that they ran out, the door slamming behind them. Silence echoed throughout the house once more. That's when it hit me again- all of the emotions. Shaking, I used all the self control I could muster and stared directly at the two remaining in the room, both of them looking uneasy.

"Look, Avi, we really can explain, you see-"

"Just save it." I growled uncharacteristically, glaring straight at him, teeth slightly bared. Spain looked dismayed and tried to speak again but I hushed him. "You lied to me. That was no dream, it was all too real. You knew something was wrong, but you deemed me not strong enough to handle it, like always."

"Now, hold on a damn minute." Romano finally spoke up, eyes glaring defiantly at me, "You don't understand, it's not like that-"

"Then WHAT IS IT." I snapped, surprising him enough with my attitude that he shut up. I just stared at them, slowly shaking my head. I couldn't believe it. It's like everything they tell me is either a lie or a sugar-coated truth. I know I was in a coma, and I still have a lot to understand and remember, especially my past and my emotional state. However, if there's one thing I know and remember clearly about myself, is that I do not like lies and secrets. And I do NOT want anyone to think I am weak or can't handle anything. I've only awake on this Earth for two weeks and there's already so many damn secrets and lies that it's overwhelming. And I have a feeling that in my past there were a whole lot of those too. I'm sick and tired of it all. Eventually I just sighed and trudged back up the stairs to my room, where I laid in my bed and pretended to sleep.

...

"What the HELL do you mean she killed it?" Snarled a tall human-looking man with crimson eyes and hair as black as night. He stood now from his throne, looming over his messenger. The dark castle of the night was only lit with a few chambers of dark, red flame. One resided right over the prince's throne, so this made him look even more threatening to the poor guy who cowered in fear below.

"I-I mean what I say, your Majesty. The red-headed idiot transformed into one of THEM, then killed the thing in a matter of mere minutes. It was truly an incredible display of power, and since she's so new to it all that only means with time she'll become a real threat-"

"SHUT. UP!" The prince hissed, eyes glowing menacingly. The messenger shut up, terrified. The prince then began to pace around the room, muttering angrily to himself like a madman before finally in a fit he began screaming. His screams echoed with such menace and insanity that the messenger nearly knocked himself over twice trying to escape through the door and out into the darkness of the outside world. "GO AHEAD. RUN." Suddenly the manic screams ceased to chuckling, which gradually morphed into another uncontrollable fit of unsettling laughter. He raced over to the gigantic glass ball that hovered in the middle of the room, glowing with dark purple clouds until he began to manipulate it into a vision. There was the red-headed girl who was threatening his master plans. He snarled at the picture of the sleeping girl, before his face turned to a blank, empty expression.

"One day..." he suddenly spoke, a bone-chilling smile slowly creeping up on his face, "One day soon... you will know of the power that I possess. It will tear you apart, it will break you and shatter your insides with the very depth of fear and turmoil. Beware of my minions, for they will all be rising again. Oh sure, I bet you could fight them off at first. But when I get the power I need to come up there, hehe..." He chuckled again, a calm look in his eyes. Suddenly he shrieked and nearly broke the glass ball before him, sparks flying out of it. Then he stared at it, reaching out his hand to slowly stroke it.
"Watch out, Aviana. Because I will take you when you least expect it."

I woke up in a cold sweat. I looked around wildly until I realized I was in my room, the sun shining through the window. But I still felt the chilled, hard terror of that nightmare. And I could practically feel the gleaming eyes of a familiar, yet menacing face.

Shuddering, I tried to shake the image out of my head as I went to go take a shower and get dressed for the day. When I was done I looked at the clock. 8:00 AM.

'Hm, they're probably not awake yet. Might as well go outside and do some laundry.'

Even though there was a strange contraption for that now which supposedly made it easier, I still felt more comfortable washing and drying the clothes the way I know. I was outside hanging some dresses and humming to myself when I suddenly heard footsteps right behind me. I froze. But there was nothing but quiet.

'Probably just my imagination...'

"ROOOOKIIEEEE!"

"ACK!" I screamed in surprise, dropping my basket of clothes and plummeted towards the ground before I was caught in a pair of arms. I looked up in fear, and (not surprising) stared directly at the mischievously grinning face of my newest but odd friend, Lilium. I sighed in relief.

"Lilium, you scared me out of my wits!" I scolded lightly, although I couldn't help but laugh at the goofily excited expression plastered on her face.

"Hehe, sorry kid! Although you scare really easy, don't ya?" She chuckled, lifting me up and over her shoulders until I was on her back once more. "Don't ya worry though, that can be fixed. Ready to go?" She asked, her wings spreading out.

"G-go?" I stuttered, slightly alarmed. "Go where?" She glanced up at me, looking just as shocked as I was.

"Rook, don't tell me you didn't get my note last night? Geez, I KNEW my teleporting powers still sucked ass, dammit." She started to hover slightly above the ground, still muttering to herself as she lifted us off and into the sky. Either I was getting used to this or I kind of started to like it.

"You know, for an 'angel' you sure curse a lot." I stated, raising an eyebrow. Lilum cackled at that but didn't say anything else. She's a mysterious sort, isn't she?

"Soooo, where exactly are we going? I know you said you were going to train me, but, where?"

I could feel her smirking even though I couldn't exactly see her face. The gem on her wrist glowed white once more (I was still immensely curious about those gems), and before I could even blink everything flashed and we ended up in yet another mysterious place. Although, this place was mysterious in a bit, um, darker sense.

There were trees all around us that reached so high they seemed that they never had a limit. We stood in the middle of this clearing, that greatly resembled a battlefield. There were three torches spread around the circumference of it all, each had some sort of unique symbol on them, but the weirdest thing was that the symbols looked charred and burnt, so it was hard to see what they were. In the middle of the clearing was a symbol on the ground of a large set of angel wings, identical to the symbol that was on Lilium's current shirt. The sky looked golden as if the sun was just beginning to set, however there was no sun in sight. It illuminated the whole place in a misty light.

"Where are we now?" I inquired, circling around like a dog chasing its tail as I scanned the clearing.

"We're- pfft." Lilium tried not to laugh at my circling, which embarrassed me enough to stop. "You're so cute little chick. Anyways, welcome to the Training Center. I know, original right? Hehe, so this is where I'm gonna be tortur- er, I mean, teaching you-" That part earned a shudder from me. "- the ways of being a guardian!~" For a second she looked so cool and stoic, and I actually was in awe of her before she lost it and lifted me up and swung me around excitedly. "Welcome to the Guardian Regime, kid! That's the official name by the way."

I laughed as she set me down, getting much more used to these antics now.

"Now then. Try summoning your weapon again and let's get started."

I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and waited for the ruby gem on my bracelet to glow and pop out a weapon like last time. Nothing happened.

"Hm. Odd" She stated, looking slightly disappointed.

'Oh great.' I thought, cheeks flushing red. 'I'm already a failure and I only just begun.'

"Oh, don't look so down!" She waved a hand dismissively, as if reading my mind. "You probably just need to warm up. Think fast!"

And before I realized she punched me right in the face, knocking me off balance immediately as I fell into the dusty earth.

"... OW!" I snapped, giving her an indignant look. "That HURTS. I thought we were friends." I pouted.

The fox girl groaned and smacked a hand to her face. "This is gonna be harder than I thought." I knew from right then that this was a mistake.

"Lilium," I sighed, plopping down on the ground dejectedly, "I'm not meant for this... I'm just a stupid, weakling of a lost nation. I can't even figure out who I am anymore, let alone how to become an amazing warrior. Are you sure I wasn't really chosen at all?..."

"Don't you dare talk like that!" Lilium grabbed me by the shoulders and lifted me back on my feet, slightly shaking me. A look of anger flashed in her eyes. "Aviana Carreido Vargas you are meant for so much more than what you could possibly imagine." She sighed, before glancing anxiously around as if someone would suddenly appear at any moment. "Look," she whispered, "I'm not exactly supposed to tell you everything yet, but I'll let you in on a liiiittle secret." Excited, we both sat on the ground and leaned in close to each other.

"Ok, phew this is gonna be kinda shocking, but um... you're not just, any, guardian, chick. You're something more. Something utterly remarkable and complex that not even Gabe can quite figure you out. Look, there's a prophecy, ok? It's been around for as long as Gabe Jr.'s dad, Gabriel (the original, ya know who I mean) has existed. It says:

'In the midst of a future most bleak,

The fiery princess of the lost is who you seek.

She will come back revived as a warrior most powerful,

And save the souls of Earth from an evil source, most cunning and masterful.

But, if it is not in time saved,

If it becomes too late,

Then all mankind will be doomed at the heart,

And the beginning of the end of days will have an early start.

Chick," Lilium continued, giving me such a serious stare that it shook me to the very core like the words uttered from her lips. "The old boss-man says you're the Chosen, the one from the prophecy."

I shuddered once more. "T-the old, boss-ma- oh you mean- oh." I could feel my lungs constricting with emotion, my blood completely icy. I wasn't even sure how to use my powers yet, heck I didn't know how to use a dishwasher yet, so how could I possibly save the Earth from some dark, unknown force?

As if reading my mind once more, she took my hand and cupped both of hers around them. "Look into my eyes."' she whispered. I looked up, my heart skipping as I gazed into those eyes as they began to change color from icy blue to gold, then they started to glow.

"You're so much more, than you'll ever realize. Don't worry, we have plenty of time to get you trained up and ready to fight." She smiled, a real and genuine smile, not a smirk, and then let her eyes go back to normal. "But for now, just do your best. And remember who you are." I nodded, solemn.

But I don't know who I am, that's the problem.

"So, whaddya think Rook? Any thoughts?" She asked softly, looking really intrigued.

I thought about it for a moment. All of the things she was saying, everything I was seeing, it was all so much. I think I know what to say now, how to feel. Yes, I know exactly now.

I took a deep breath. "I think... I think that I, in every single way, am absolutely, positively... NOT. CUTE." I nearly shouted that last part, placing my hands on my hips in an utmost grown-up looking fashion.

"Wait-wha," Lilium stuttered, staring at me with a confused half-smile, "What- you- I JUST TOLD YOU PROBABLY THE MOST SHOCKING MOTHER****ING THING IN YOUR WHOLE EXISTENCE HOW THE HELL IS THAT THE ONLY THING CROSSING YOUR MIND?!"

I just pointedly looked away from her, bringing my arms to cross each other. "I. Am not. Cute. I, am elegant. Charming, I will accept. But NOT CUTE." I was pointing at her face now. "I am not a kid. Kids are supposed to be cute, not me. I am a grown up."

Lilium rolled her eyes at that last bit, although I didn't know why! It was the truth! Hmph, no one seems to think so and it's not faaaiiiirrr.

"Alright alright, you're not cute-" A smile was put back on my face. "-you're ADORABLE!~"

"HEY!" I shouted, chasing after a cackling Lilium. She was superhumanly fast, but I finally managed to go faster and pounced on her, bringing us both into the dirt.

We laughed again, before she suddenly gasped and grabbed my face.

"Rookie..." she began, a look of realization spreading through her eyes, "I was just running, like, 150 miles per hour, and you managed to catch me even without trying to access your powers." She snapped her fingers, a light bulb flashing in her eyes. "That's it! Your powers are still uncontrollable and wreckless-"

"I'm not sure I like being associated with those words." I interrupted. Lilium's eyes rolled again.

"-so that means they must be emotional!" Her trademark smirk formed on her face, clear that she had an idea (which terrified me).

Before I knew it I was snatched and hurled up into the air again on the back of her wings.

...

Oh. We ended up back at home, in the same fields that I was previously abducted from. I looked at the sky to see to my surprise that the sun was starting to set.

'Time sure does fly when you're having fun, doesn't it?" I think to myself, sarcasm evident.

"OK Rookie!" Lili barks, snapping me out of my thoughts. "I'm gonna provide for you a simulation."

Just the word "simulation" got me all excited and ready. I stood up straight and waited patiently for the magic-cool-guardian power-stuff to happen.

"I want you to imagine a type 2 demon in front of you-"

"Question!" I waved my hand around frantically.

"...What."

"What's a type 2?"

"Uh, kinda powerful but also kinda lame. They mostly affect little kids. Annnd probably you."

"HEY-"

" ANYWAYS, so, imagine a type 2 demon is in front of you. It's snarling and growling, and it, uh I dunno, insults your Dad."

"I'm mad at him."

"OK, whatever, you get the point, it says something you don't like. So, you get all emotional and then, action!" As if to finalize it, she does a little jazz hands gesture.

I look at the empty space in front of me, then back to Lilium, then back to the empty space again.

"Um. Lilium."

"Yes?"

"There's nothing there."

Lilium slapped a hand to her face again (she'd been doing that a lot when I'm around for some reason). She groaned to herself, mumbling something about how "it was harder than she thought" before she looked at me with a sickly sweet expression, which almost scared me more than her usual self.

"Sweetie, you have to use your imagination."

I looked at her indignantly. "Are you kidding?"

"WHAT? C'monnn, I'm dyin' here!"

"After all the magical-glowy-'OH LOOK AT ME I'M A SPARK-TACULAR SUPER HUMAN-FOX-GIRL-THINGY WITH COOL POWERS'-stuff you've pulled since we met and now you can't even CREATE some kind of simple simulation with them here?"

"WELL, EX-CUUUSE ME! I may have, magical, glowy, whatjamacallit powers, but I AIN'T, no damn magician."

I looked in front of me once more and was pleased to see exactly what I expected. "See that wasn't so hard."

"Hah?"

"The simulation. You did it!... Unless my imagination is really good..."

Lilium and I both froze in our tracks, realization hitting us as our heads faced each other before snapping back to the snarling, drooling wolf-like creature of the night that was currently staring us down with its glowing red eyes.

Of. Course.

"QUICK. GET BEHIND ME, NOW." Lilium growled, her fangs and claws sharpening and her weapon shooting from her white gem. Fast as lightening I bolted behind her, ready to defend in any way I could even without my powers. Suddenly the creature barked and lurched straight towards Lilium. We both dodged, but not before she punched the thing in the face, earning a yelp from it. I raced to her side to push her away just as the creature bolted and nearly bit her head off. It landed heavily on its side before shaking itself off and shrieking in an a most unnatural way, strangely enough bringing both me and Lilium to the ground in pain, our ears bleeding.

"Rookie!" Lilium screamed over the noise. "Crap! Don't, ugh, listen, this breed's screams can... kill..." Before she could finish her sentence she collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

"LILIUM!" I screamed back, crawling over to her while trying to keep the teas from stinging my eyes and my heart to stop thudding.

'Think!' I thought to myself, trying to even hear myself over the horrible noises coming from the creature. I almost felt defeat rising in me before I heard a shout belonging to a familiar voice. I used all the strength I could muster to look up and see the face of a terrified, yet infuriated looking Papa. Romano ran behind him, horrified, a pistol in his right hand. Before I knew it with one clean slice of Papa's axe the creature split and disintegrated into thin air.

Silence, sweet, sweet silence, filled the fields once more. I sighed of relief, collapsing right beside Lilium, feeling awfully tired all of a sudden.

"Aviana!" I heard the distant voices of the pair calling to me as I felt my eyelids getting heavy. I could feel the shaky embrace of Papa as I let my eyes close.
