Inu: beware; Kou isn't that smart yet he is smart...in a way...I guess? I don't know. And this is also fairly long compared to other chapters so...whatever!
~START~
"Konata! You're going to come to school today right?" Draco asked. "You've missed so much because of work, so I'm practically forcing you to go!"
"What's so interesting about school anyways?" Konata sighed. "They still treat us like kids so what does it matter? I never really learn anything anyways."
"At least come today!" Kou pleaded. "I heard we were getting a transfer student!"
"Where'd you hear that?" Draco questioned.
"Some random guys were talkin' about it while I was at my locker yesterday." Kou shrugged. "They said that the transfer student was in our class!"
"A transfer student in the middle of the first semester...?" Konata thought aloud. "That's quite a surprise, we haven't had a transfer student since Kou decided to move here..."
"Exactly! Now you have a reason to be at school! Isn't giving off a cold aura like your thing at school!? Come on, people'll start calling you demon again and then they'll make the new kid do it too!" Draco pointed out.
"Well, if I'm a plain out jerk to everyone anyways, what does it matter?" Konata shrugged. "I guess I'll go anyways, I got all the papers I needed to get done last night, I'll just turn them in after school..."
"Awesome!" The two smiled.
"Except the fact that the teachers kinda like Bat too much for their own good, but whatever." Konata sighed. "Yo, Bat! Get down here, we're going on an adventure!"
"Adventure!? I wanna come!" Bat exclaimed, coming down the stairs. "Can I come? Please? Please?"
"Yes Bat, you can come. It's just to school anyways." Konata smiled. "You're the reason I don't get in trouble as much!"
"Yay!" Bat cheered. "I'm gonna go get my new fedora!" Yup. He got a new hat. Another fedora at that. But no one really cared, as he had a collection of hats he would wear. Bottom line: Bat. Likes. Hats.
~LATER~ Location: School
"So Kira, I see you decided to come today." The teacher chuckled, giving Konata a smile. "Welcome back!"
"Y'know, you are the only teacher that doesn't get mad for me never being here..." Konata sighed.
"Well, of course not. You are a busy person with that job of yours, and especially with Bat being such a handful sometimes." The teacher explained.
"Oh yeah, I guess I've had a little stress, but my schedules should be back to coming to school every other day..." Konata shrugged.
"Told ya people liked you!" Draco chimed, smirking at his friend. "School's fun sometimes, but it's boring when nothing is goin' on."
"Yeah, plus, we have a test comin' up!" Kou reminded.
"Yeah, I know. I've already studied for it." Konata shrugged.
"What!? How!? That shit is hard!" Draco and Kou asked.
"You guys do remember El is a genius right?" Konata sighed.
"Kona-sama, is class gonna be fun today?" Bat asked.
"I don't know, we'll just have to find out, Batty. But you enjoy lectures anyways." Konata smiled.
"Yep! I like learning stuff! especially since I can't primarily do it since I'm a demon wolf..." Bat chuckled sheepishly.
"With a HanyĆ form that you could legitimately use and no one would know it's you but whatever." Konata chuckled.
"Class, attention please." The teacher called, everyone in the classroom silenced. Of course, it was only to this teacher. She was always the favorite teacher, and was even nice to Konata...which was a first to everyone. "We have a new student today! She's from Ebleon." Draco flinched.
"You okay, Drac?" Kou asked.
"Just fine, Kou..." Draco muttered.
"He's not okay." Konata sighed. "What's wrong?"
"I...I uh...I used to live in Ebleon...before I lived here..." Draco mumbled.
"So you might know this girl?" Kou asked.
"Yeah, I remember a lot of people from Ebleon too...so I guess we'll find out!"
"Please, introduce yourself." The teacher smiled, everyone's attention was directed to a girl with short light brown hair.
"H-Hello, my name is Cassondra Airdon, but you can call me Cassie if you want." The girl, Cassondra, smiled. Draco flinched again.
"And he knows her." Konata stated.
"Wouldn't that be a good thing?" Bat asked.
"Not really, Bat...she was my best friend there and I kinda don't want to see her..." Draco muttered. Though the relief he felt soon faded as he realized that there were many empty desks around his area. Sighing, he laid his head down and tried to hide.
"Give him a minute." Kou smiled.
"Yep." Konata agreed.
"Okay then, Cassondra, why don't you pick an empty desk?" The teacher smiled. Cassondra nodded and sat in the desk next to Konata's.
Though she couldn't help but overhear their conversation. "Kou, just frickin' slap him upside the head!"
"Why don't you do it!?" Kou whispered though it was like a shout of some sort.
"Because you're the one next to him! I'd gladly do it if I was next to him but I'm not! And this damn demon is too nice!" Konata growled. Though Bat had fallen asleep already, he would easily be woken up when he needed to be.
"Yamada, Kira, is there a problem?" The teacher asked.
"No!" Kou shouted.
"Yes there is, god dammit!" Konata growled. "Um...we're just gonna leave for a few minutes...Kou, you take notes got it?"
"Aye-aye!" Kou saluted. Konata sighed and dragged Drsco out of the classroom.
The teacher sighed. "Why does it always involve one of you three when something is wrong?"
"Who knows, maybe cuz Kira is a demon!" One of the students laughed. Though they stopped immediately when they were bitten by a certain wolf.
"Sorry, but I'm the demon, Kona-sama is just my master." Bat smirked.
"Bat! Konata is gonna be so mad at you for that!" Kou shrieked.
"I don't care. They're being mean, Kona-sama said I could do whatever if people were being jerks!" Bat sighed and crossed his arms. He sat on Konata's desk and sighed again. "It's not fair."
"I-Is that a dog?" Cassondra asked.
"Sort of...it's complicated..." Kou laughed nervously. A few moments of silence later, the class could clearly hear that Konata had slapped Draco upside the head after the slight shriek Draco made from the pain.
"That hurt Konata!" Draco growled. Cassondra recognized the voice, but didn't want to do anything about it.
"Well, if you'd just get over everything and actually concentrate maybe it wouldn't have hurt so bad!" Konata snapped, dragging him back in.
"Do you need to go to the nurse Corvi?" The teacher asked.
"I'm a bit used to it, I should be fine..." Draco smiled and sat at his desk.
After class was the free period, to make up for such long school days, there were three free periods in a day. Draco sighed. "God, you didn't have to hit me that hard!"
"And who's fault is that?" Konata growled, she didn't even look up from what she was doing. Stubborn as usual. Thankfully for her, Bat for some reason liked taking notes, even though the entire class would think he'd be doodling some random shit like most immature things brought into the classroom, but he didn't.
"Hey Kira!" A few girls called, Konata looked up slightly, showing that she paid more attention to them than she did to Draco...which made him mumble random cuss words to himself.
"Yes?" Konata asked, a bit curious to their non-insulting behavior.
"I don't think Cassie has formally met you three." She stated. "And since you are practically the leader of the group, we thought we'd start with you." The girl gave a fake smile. "Cassie, first of all, these are Kou Yamada and Draco Corvi, and that's Konata Kira."
"What about the dog?" Cassondra asked.
"That's Bat, he comes to school with Kira for god knows why." The girl shrugged. Bat growled.
"Bat. What do I repeatedly say about your behavior?" Konata practically stated. Bat whimpered and lied down on her desk. "Just like everyone else, call me by my first name and your dead."
"O-Okay..." Cassondra agreed, her voice shaky from Konata's jerkish nature.
"Isn't that a bit too jerky for today, Konata?" Kou asked.
"I really don't give a shit Kou." Konata sighed.
"Well...it's n-nice to meet you three." Cassondra smiled weakly.
"Or for the second time." Draco smirked. "Long time no see."
"H-Hey Draco..." Cassondra smiled a bit more happily this time. "It's been a while."
"Yup! And you aren't any different!" Draco laughed.
"Where did the Pheonix-like personality come from?" Kou asked.
"Don't know, don't really care." Konata shrugged. "As long as he isn't the weirdo he was a few minutes ago."
"I was not weird." Draco growled. "I was normal."
"Normal? Normal is bouncing off the walls during class and getting us all sent to the office!" Konata stated.
"Well, that means you've changed." Cassondra laughed.
"I have not! Don't listen to them Cassie, Konata is one of the biggest threats in school and Kou is not that bright. I'm not either but still, I'm smarter and sane." Draco smiled.
"Being a threat isn't my fault." Konata sighed. "I wouldn't be half the jerk I am to you if you were more like Zak or Tyler."
"God no! They are both idiots! Especially Zakari, the biggest idiot ever! Tyler is okay, but still pretty stupid." Draco denied.
"Stupid enough to stay on Kona-sama's good side?" Bat asked, Draco flinched.
"...Be quiet Bat..." Draco muttered, though he wanted to gripe at him, he couldn't. Konata would brutally murder him if he did, he was already receiving a glare with his attempt to stay nice.
"You're more of a bastard now, Draco!" Cassondra pointed out.
"Blame Konata, it's her fault I'm like this." Draco smirked.
"My fault? Yes, because I totally forced you to hang out with me when I was perfectly fine by myself, and even more so if I were to have stayed that way." Konata stated sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
"Shut up Konata." Draco muttered.
"Hey, he's pissed off at us for the first time!" Kou exclaimed. Why he was excited about that? No one could tell you the answer, but he just was.
"I'm just...different today, okay? It's not everyday you see someone you haven't seen for like ever..." Draco mumbled.
"Or is it?" A way too sarcastic for it's own good voice stated. Zero coming from nowhere. "Hello, world! I'm back!"
"Why exactly?" Konata asked.
"Zane was being boring. And Zonata was busy...and I don't have any friends in the Dark Realm...and I can't go to the Light Realm to see Rave...so I came here!" Zero explained.
"That's...good to know? But you coming here is still random." Konata shrugged. "Eh, whatever. It's just like having a sarcastic and arrogant Bat around."
"That's...exactly what it is..." Kou chuckled.
"Woah, there's two!?" Cassondra exclaimed, surprised to see the exact same wolf, just with a different color scheme.
"Yep, pretty much. But Zero is Bat's shadow, presumably at least." Konata explained. "He's from the Dark Realm, that's where shadows of more hostile things come from."
"Why isn't Zonata a Dark then?" Draco asked.
"Because of Chibi in Hell, her kindness and her being me makes it so I'm not as hostile. Though really, I am." Konata shrugged. They continued random conversations and such for the rest of the period, then a few classes went by and more random conversing, and then more classes and more random conversing until the bell rung. "Aaaand, I have to get to work."
"Hey, Cassie, why don't you come with us?" Draco asked. "You could meet our other friends!"
"Okay...if that's okay with Kira..." Cassondra smiled.
"Just call her Konata, she was kidding when she said not to, people still call her Konata unless they're trying to be different. Calling her Kira just makes people think you're weird." Draco shrugged.
"Yeah, pretty much. It's always either Konata or Demon." Konata sighed. "Your choice."
"I'll go with Konata, Demon is really jerkish..." Cassondra chuckled,
"Okay then, whatever floats your pineapple." Konata shrugged. Once they were outside the school building, Bat became a little restless and worried, usually Soko would be right outside the school gates so he could play with his wolf friend, but that wasn't the case today.
"Kona-sama, where's Soko?" Bat asked. "Or for that matter, Fizz and Fuzz?" If Soko couldn't come, Fizz and Fuzz would, so Bat was a bit anxious about the current situation.
"Hm? Oh yeah, I didn't tell you this morning did I?" Konata laughed and patted his head. "Don't worry, I left them with Zak, he wanted to take care of them for the day. We'll see them in a sec, okay?"
"Okay..." Bat mumbled, a bit more calm than before.
~LATER~ Location: Battle Institute
"Cassie, these are Elliot, Phoenix, Zakari, and Tyler!" Kou smiled. "And by the way, Zak and Draco hate each other."
"Why?" Cassondra asked, watching as the two shouted at each other...it was pretty entertaining actually.
"No one knows why, they just hate each other." Tyler shrugged. "But no one really minds it."
"Oh...okay." Cassondra nodded, she continued to watch as they fought...that is until Konata slapped them both upside the head.
"Ow..." Draco muttered. "That hurt..."
"God Konata, you're getting stronger or somethin'..." Zakari mumbled.
"No duh, fucktard. I kind of have to for things." Konata sighed.
"Oh yeah! I forgot about that...heh, stupid me!" Zakari laughed.
"You need to actually learn things sometime Zak, knowing a language ain't gonna help shit in some situations." Konata stated.
"It's just...I'm not good at concentrating so I guess it's kinda hard to learn stuff...or remember stuff..." Zakari sighed.
"Okay, fine then...I'll just have to fucking help you actually concentrate." Konata smiled. Zakari was ecstatic about this, half of it was because he was hoping it would happen the other half was just literally he probably did need it...but he'd get distracted...like always. "Come by my room later, 'kay? I'll help you then, all my work is finished for the next few weeks."
"Awesome!" Zakari agreed. He also smirked when he noticed Tyler glaring at him.
"Konata, how did you finish so much work?" Kou asked.
"Who said I cared for school as much, that's why I have Elliot to help me with shit like that." Konata shrugged. It was true though, during class it didn't seem like she was ever taking notes, she was just doing work...lots of it. And now Zakari and Tyler both wish they were actually smart, alas it wasn't meant to be.
"I'm not that smart, guys..." Elliot muttered.
"Yes you are! You're the smartest person we know!" Draco corrected.
~A FEW WEEKS LATER~ Location: Battle Institute
The place had calmed down a bit after Draco started spending the majority of his time with Cassondra. No one minded it that much, especially Zakari. First of all, he hated him anyways, and second of all, Konata always sat next to Draco, now that he rarely showed up, Konata sat next to him...it was awesome and made Tyler jealous as crap. Today was just a more ordinary day since nothing was going on, to make it more clear, it was Saturday and they had nothing to do besides play video games. Everyone practically did their own thing today, Kou played Persona, Elliot and Phoenix played Mario together...as lots of people actually called them the Mario brothers, Tyler played Sonic: Lost World...and was actually eating Sonic too, and Zakari was helping Konata with a bit of some work. That was practically all that could be new, Zakari being helpful. "Y'know guys, I could imagine Sonic X just being Sonic 2.0, where happy hour is from twelve to five!" Tyler smiled, he is pretty obsessed with Sonic...just a little bit.
"It reasonable, why don't you tell the CEO of Sonic your great new idea?" Konata asked, though it was obvious that she was being sarcastic.
"That's not nice Konata." Tyler muttered.
"Psh, I'm never nice. Well...rarely." Konata shrugged.
"You're nice to me!" Zakari smiled.
"Yeah, that's cuz you're too much of a fucktard. It's not necessarily a bad thing though." Konata sighed.
"So then...he's your favorite friend?" Kou asked.
"I guess, but I'm nice to you too." Konata pointed out. "And some random people I'm nice to."
"Yep! That's certainly true!" Kou chuckled. "Y'know, it actually doesn't feel that different without Draco...weird."
"Not really, sometimes the absence of people can be a good thing, like a break. Though we do rarely see him." Elliot explained.
"Eh, let him be, he likes Cassondra anyways." Konata shrugged. "First of all, it's pretty obvious, second of all, he told me."
"Why would he tell you?" Phoenix asked.
"Who knows, his own reasons I guess." Konata guessed. Though it really wasn't THAT surprising, Draco seemed to tell Konata a lot of things. "Anyways, I have work to go turn in. I'll be back in a few minutes, if you destroy anything then I'm switching your scedules to a class you really hate."
After Konata left, Phoenix sighed. "I better stay calm...god knows I don't want to be stuck in
Home Ec or something!"
"Well, you'd learn about maturity...though not even I want to do that." Elliot shuddered at the thought of being stuck in such a stupid class.
"Doesn't matter to me, I never pay attention to anything 'cause I get distracted!" Zakari smiled.
"So that wasn't just an excuse for Konata helping you?" Phoenix asked.
"Nope! Halfway though, it actually does help too...but I get distracted a lot more with other things..." Zakari chuckled. Tyler thought of such things, hating his imagination for the day.
"Hey bro, bet you twenty bucks his mind is gonna get dirty in a sec." Phoenix smirked.
"I don't make bets I know I am gonna lose." Elliot sighed. Right after that, it seemed like Tyler had mentally freaked out, though they could tell he was freaking out through his facial expressions.
"I'm not that lucky, genius." Zakari sighed. "Psh, I wish."
"Are they both sick minded?" Phoenix asked.
"Yeah, I'm fairly certain." Elliot answered.
"I'm less than Tyler is though!" Zakari growled. "Trust me, I'm his roommate, I know these things."
"Yeah, whatever!" Tyler growled. "And Kou's been silent!"
"Huh? Oh have I? Didn't notice..." Kou chuckled sheepishly. "I've been into the game is all..."
"What happened that's so interesting? You've finished that game like ten times." Elliot asked.
"Oh yeah, but I'm doing different social links, ya know?...like..with somewhat myself..." Kou laughed. "There's a character named Kou! Kou Ichijo to be exact!"
"Kou Ichijo? That's the...basketball guy right?" Phoenix questioned, Kou nodded. "Okay, even though you don't like basketball..."
"But they look similar, I mean mostly their hairstyles but whatever." Tyler shrugged.
"And other than that we're like polar opposites, he's an orphan I think...or has some problem with his family, I don't know." Kou shrugged.
~LATER~ location: Osaka, Kira Residenso
"What time is it Konata?" Kou asked.
"It's almost midnight, why?" Konata answered.
"Cuz Drac still isn't back...what the fuck is he doing?" Kou sighed.
"Don't mind it, he's a psycho." Konata shrugged. "Though I guess I'm more of a psycho than he is..."
"In a way, yeah. If we go by correct terms, but we don't!" Kou smiled.
"Kona-sama, I'm hungry!" Bat complained, Konata sighed.
"Okay Batty, I'll get you some food in a sec." Konata smiled.
"Can I feed him today? Please?" Kou asked.
"Sure, why not?" Konata shrugged.
"Awesome!" Kou exclaimed, jumping up off the couch and going to the kitchen. He fed Bat quickly and came back. "Konata, play some WiiU with me!"
"Why exactly?" Konata sighed.
"Because I'm bored and my best friend is MIA!" Kou complained.
"Okay then...I guess I don't have much a choice." Konata mumbled. Kou smiled, happy with her answer.
A few hours of playing later, Draco finally got home. "I'm back, and you guys are still awake..." He sighed.
"And it's three in the morning, what the hell were you doing?" Konata asked.
"Stuff. Like always." Draco shrugged.
"Well, isn't he being a bastard tonight...er...this morning?" Kou muttered, questioning himself more than anything. "Hey Konata, is three a.m counted as night or morning?"
"In a way, both. Since normal people sleep at this time and it is morning, thus three in the MORNING." Konata shrugged.
"It's pretty self-explanatory." Draco sighed.
"Y'know you're being like Konata. That's not a good thing." Kou growled.
"Be glad I never get offended." Konata smirked, Kou only laughed nervously.
"Yeah, whatever. I have sanity." Draco stated.
"Aaaand his pissing me off now." Konata mumbled. "Since when did he have sanity?"
"I'm guessing he got it when he abandoned us!...in a way!" Bat smiled. "I mean, he's still our friend...in a way but...more jerk-ish...and I don't like it."
"Eh, it's okay Bat! We've got El and Pho and Ty and Zak!" Kou exclaimed.
"And now Kou likes giving nicknames...obviously." Konata sighed.
"It's my thing. I love nicknames." Kou smiled. "I mean, none of them have sanity either...except El but who really cares?"
"The majority of the world, you can't live without sanity." Draco pointed out. "But I guess it doesn't matter to you guys does it? It's all stupid humor."
"Heh, and what did I go through for years with you? More of idiotic humor than just stupid." Konata growled.
"Yeah, whatever. I'm goin' to bed, see you guys tomorrow." Draco shrugged. He left the room and went upstairs, probably still not going to bed.
"You think we'll actually see him tomorrow?" Kou asked.
"Well, we always leave for school earlier than we should to get more breakfast so I'm guessing no, of course that is if we aren't pulled out of class for some stupid reason again." Konata shrugged.
"Oh, okay!" Kou smiled. Honestly, he didn't really care anymore. He didn't mind the jerk-ish behavior that much, but it still ticked him off a bit...but then he remembered what Konata always tells him about going psychotic over jerk-ish people and how it's not worth it, so he ignores it.
~END~
Inu: all I have to say about this chapter is; Tyler is a genius about Sonic and Kou does make a point with three a.m...that's new...the rest of the chapter, eh...just like every other chapter...without Draco...aaaand looking at this chapter, it has 4.022 words in it...great
