Ultima Dragon

"Did... did I... just shot... electricity?" Lex asked in shock, to no one in particular.

"... I think you did." Sparx suddenly answered.

Everyone immediately gathered around Lex.

"Ho-How did you do that?!" Cynder asked.

"What makes you think I know how I did that?!" Lex asked back.

"You don't know?!" Eve asked.

"Is this the face of a person who knew what just happened?!" Lex asked, gesturing to his face.

"Okay, okay." Forge said. "Let's calm down a little." After a few moments to take deep breaths, Forge calmly asks, "Okay Lex, how did you manage to shoot electricity?"

"I told you, I don't know!" Lex answered. "All I know is, I got shot by electricity and got paralysed, but then the paralysis died down and I tried to retaliate by shooting an ice shard, but suddenly, electricity is the one that came out." He explained.

"Okay then, how about the process of shooting the ice shard? Did you feel anything different?" Forge asked again.

"The process is pretty much the same, I focus my element to my mouth and then I shot it out... but... now that you mention it..." Everyone immediately leaned towards Lex. "... I did felt something different when I tried to shoot. Instead of a chill running around my body, I felt some sort of... surge of energy."

"A surge?" Spyro said. "Did the surge felt... exhilarating?"

"Yeah, like that."

"That's what I usually feel when I use electricity!" Spyro exclaimed.

"But that still doesn't explain why Lex was able shoot it." Forge said as he crossed his arms.

Suddenly, the door to the Arena was swung open, creating a loud thud and attracting everyone's attention. The one that swung the door open was none other than the electricity Guardian, Volteer.

"Volteer?" Lex said.

The Guardian was panting slightly as he scanned the room. Once he laid his eyes upon Lex, his face lit up. "There you are!" he exclaimed. In a flash of yellow light, Volteer disappeared, and with another flash of yellow, Volteer reappeared right next to the group, surprising and confusing everyone.

"How did you...?" Spyro started, but he was so surprised that he can't finish it.

Volteer immediately observed Lex very closely, while muttering "Yes." over and over again, confusing the group even more. "I knew it!" the Guardian exclaimed once he finished observing. "No time to explain, follow me." He said before leaving the Arena, leaving the group very confused.

"... What just happened?" Eve asked, a few moments after Volteer left.

A few moments later, Volteer reappeared on the doorway. "Come on!" he exclaimed before leaving. The group, while still very confused, decided to follow. After they passed the exit, they found that Volteer is already a few steps ahead and they immediately picked up the pace.

"Volteer, where are we going?" Lex asked after they caught up.

"To the Library." Volteer quickly replied.

"Why?" the ice dragon asked again.

"Because I have reason to believe that I have found a way to get you two back home." Eve was definitely delighted by that answer, while Lex felt his heart sank a little, but he managed to act like he's at least interested. "And I also believe that you, Lex, are not a simple ice dragon." That unexpected follow-up caused everyone, except Volteer, to stop dead in their tracks. After staring at each other in shock for a few moments, they immediately scrambled to catch up with Volteer.

After a few minutes traversing the halls of the Dragon Temple, they reached the exit. The group proceeded to glide down the hill the Temple was built upon, except for Forge, who ran down the pathway leading to the city. As they arrived at the Temple's outer gates, Lex realized that this is the first time he has actually left the Temple.

As the group walked the streets of Warfang, Lex realizes that there is significant lack of dragons, which is ironic considering Warfang is called the 'Dragon City'. Another thing that Lex realizes are the citizens of the city shooting glances at their little group. The glances are a mix of awe and fear. Awe, Lex guessed, is because of Spyro and fear is because of Cynder. Cynder definitely notices the glances shot at her because she has her gaze fixed on the ground, nervously looking up once in awhile.

Lex positions himself beside Cynder and places his paw on her shoulder, causing Cynder to glance at him and he gave an encouraging smile. Cynder replied with a small smile. Spyro is also uncomfortable with the glances, so Lex approached him and started a conversation.

"Hey, that was a pretty good fight. I expected nothing less from you." Lex said.

"Thanks, you're quite good as well." Spyro replied, smiling. "All of your moves are very impressive."

"Your moves are not half bad, either." Lex said. "Especially that earth-pillar-to-the-gut move, I never saw it comin'."

Spyro smiled chuckled lightly at Lex's compliment. But, the smile slowly faded and is replaced with a frown. "To be honest, I'm not aiming at your stomach." He said.

"What're you aiming?" Lex asked.

"Your... um..." Spyro started to answer, but found the answer to be quite embarrassing. He leaned closer at Lex and whispered, "... private parts."

Lex froze wide-eyed in shock, while Spyro prepares himself for Lex's reaction. After a few moments of silence, Lex snaps. "You were aiming at my WHAT?!"

"We have arrived." Volteer announced. The two dragons snapped their heads around and found that they indeed have arrived. In front of them was a rather large building with a grand sign above the large entrance that says: The Great Library of Warfang.

Volteer pushed open the large door and proceeded to enter, followed by Cynder, Eve, Forge and Sparx, with Lex and Spyro trailing behind. Just before the two enter, Lex whipped his head around to Spyro and said, "We are soooo NOT done talkin' about this." before entering. Spyro stayed still for a moment before entering.

Inside, Lex's breath was immediately taken by the sight. Thousands of books that are in perfect condition are neatly stored in very luxurious-looking shelves, with some nice tables scattered here and there for the visitors of the library to read on.

"Wow, this place looks WAY bigger in the inside." Lex said out loud, causing some of the moles reading or working there to shush.

The group continued to follow Volteer going further into the library. Volteer made a brief stop to grab one of the books stored in the shelves, before continuing on further. After a while, the group reached an empty part of the library. Volteer put the book he's holding down on a nearby table, before opening the book and skimming through it. After a few minutes, he found what he's looking for.

Smiling, Volteer began to read the book out loud.

'Tis the tale of a dragon like never before

From another world, he comes

With a scale of the skies, a bovine's horns and a three-pronged tail

An infinite, unimaginable power, he holds

If he is lawful, the world will know true peace

If he is evil, the world will plunge into true disorder

For those who befriend him, rejoice, for he will be your guardian

For those who oppose him, beware, for his fury you cannot escape

This is the legend of the Ultima Dragon

Everyone stared at Volteer with confusion, except for Forge, whose eyes are wide open in realization.

"O-kaaaay, that's a pretty nice prophecy but, why are you reading it to us?" Lex asked.

Volteer sighed. "You have no idea what I'm referring to, do you?" Lex shakes his head in reply, causing Volteer to sigh again. "A scale of the skies," Volteer said, gesturing to Lex's blue scales. "a bovine's horns," He said, gesturing to Lex's horns. "and a three pronged-tail." Volteer finished, gesturing to Lex's trident-shaped tail blade. Lex began to understand what Volteer is referring to.

"You're the Ultima Dragon." Forge said in awe. "Oh man, I've been hanging out with the Ultima Dragon AND the Purple Dragon." Forge said. "This has got the best week in my life!" He said in a whisper-yell.

"Wait, hold on. Just because my scales are blue, my horn is shaped like a bull's horn and my tail is a trident does not make me an Ultima Dragon." Lex said.

"What's an Ultima Dragon anyway?" Cynder asked

Forge turned to the rest of the group in shock. "You guys don't know what an Ultima Dragon is?!"

"Calm down, child." Volteer said. "Spyro has lived in the Swamp for most of his life, Cynder is... well, you know what Cynder's circumstances are and Lex and Eve have only come to our realm one week ago."

"Volteer, I thought we're supposed to keep that a secret." Eve said.

"Do not worry, Eve. When I said that Lex is an Ultima Dragon, it's quite the same as actually saying that you two came from another world." Volteer said.

"Okay, so I fit the description and I came from another world, but that does not mean that I am an Ultima Dragon." Lex said.

"I suppose." Volteer said, deep in thought. His brow rose as he thought of something. "Have you displayed elemental mastery of another element besides ice?" He asked.

Lex immediately thought of the event that ended his sparring match earlier. He shrugs. "Guess I am an Ultima Dragon."

"I am slightly taken aback by your response, Lex. I predicted that you would be a bit more surprised." Volteer said.

"Well, I don't really know what an Ultima Dragon is, or what they're capable of." Lex said.

"Ah yes, let me fill that gap for you." Volteer said, before he started explaining. "Ultima Dragons are an extremely rare and extremely powerful breed of dragons."

"How rare?" Lex asked.

"It is said that only visitors from another world can become an Ultima Dragon." Volteer explained, causing the group to gasp in awe. "And only a select few of those otherworldly visitors can become an Ultima Dragon, so you can imagine how rare that is."

"And how powerful?" Lex asked.

"It is said that Ultima Dragons can control and master all twelve elements. And they have mastery over an exclusive, thirteenth element: Ultima." Volteer explained. "Basically, it is the same to Purple Dragons and Convexity."

"What does Ultima look like and how powerful is it?" Lex asked.

"No one actually knows what Ultima looks like. As for its strength, it is said that Ultima is so powerful, that if compared to Convexity, it would be like comparing the heat of a small campfire to the heat of a fire dragon's Fury." Volteer explained and the group is struck by awed silence.

"There's a big difference?" Sparx dumbly asked.

"Of course there is!" Forge quickly replied.

Lex gazed down on his paws as he absorbed the information. "That much power inside of ME!" Lex thought as a smile formed on his face. But slowly, the smile is replaced with a frown. "That much power inside of me..." He grimly thought.

"Okay, now that I know what Ultima Dragons are capable of, I don't know if I should be happy, or scared." Lex said.

"You should feel both, young one." the electricity Guardian said. "Your powers are definitely something to get excited about, but it is also something to fear."

"So, Lex is actually an Ultima Dragon, what's that gotta do with a way for us to get back home?" Eve asked.

Volteer turned to Eve with a big smile. "A way for you to get back home has everything to do with Lex being an Ultima Dragon." He said. "It is said that an Ultima Dragon's Ultima can be used to travel between worlds." Volteer explained. "If the legends were true, and they usually were, then Lex can use his Ultima to return you back home!"

Eve slowly forms a smile. He turns to Lex and said, "Lex, whip up some Ultima, fast!"

"Wha-What?!" Lex was surprised by the sudden request.

"Patience, Eve." Volteer chuckled. "Lex is far from using Ultima. He must master all twelve elements, and only then Ultima would be usable." Eve lets out a disappointed sigh.

"Tell me, Lex," Volteer asked, "what makes you agree that you are an Ultima Dragon so quickly?"

"Well, right before you came to the Arena, I and Spyro were sparring there, when suddenly I shot electricity." the Ultima Dragon replied.

"I see." Volteer said while lightly nodding. "If it's not too much trouble, can you demonstrate it for me?" He asked.

"I dunno, but I'll try." Lex replied. "Does it have to be electricity?"

"No, whichever element is fine. Just don't damage any of the books." Volteer answered, gesturing to the books around them. "They're quite valuable."

Lex nodded and began to focus. He focused on the emotion that he always used when he used an element: anger. As anger began to build inside him, an unfamiliar heat started to form on his right, front paw. He raised said paw and released the heat, igniting the paw.

"Whoa." Lex and the kids said at once.

"Remarkable." Volteer muttered.

Lex stomped the paw to the ground, extinguishing the fire. "Guess you're gonna have a training buddy, Spy!" He grinned.

"And Lex?" Volteer asked.

"Yeah?"

"I advise you to not tell anyone that you are the Ultima Dragon for the time being."

"What? Why?"

"'Cause the last Ultima Dragon was far from being a good guy." Forge answered.

"What? Who's the last Ultima Dragon?" Spyro asked.

"The last Ultima Dragon was also the first." Volteer answered.

"What's his name?" Cynder asked.

"His name has been lost and forgotten," Volteer replied, "but his deeds have not."

"What did he do?" Lex asked.

"Oh no, it is far too scary for children such as you." Volteer answered.

"Aw, come on Volteer. You can tell us." Lex persuaded.

"I suppose I can give you some info." Volteer said. "According to what the ancient books described, what the Ultima Dragon did was far more horrifying than what Malefor himself did. It is said that the dragon saw death as an escape, so he kept his enemies under eternal torment, healing them when they are on the brink of death, only to torture them again." The short explanation was enough to give everyone the shivers.

"Whoa. Okay, I don't wanna hear any more of that." Sparx said and everyone agreed.

"What happened to him?" Eve asked and Volteer stayed silent. "Volteer?" She asked again.

"That's the most horrifying part." Volteer reluctantly answered. "No one knew what happened."

"What?!"

"None of the ancient tomes and scrolls contains any single detail of what happened to the Ultima Dragon." Volteer explained. "People theorized that a group of brave heroes managed to defeat him. Others theorized he simply died of old age. But the most horrifying theory was that he was somehow still alive to this day, waiting for an opportunity to rise again." The group was struck with silence.

"So, that's why you shouldn't tell anyone that you are an Ultima Dragon, unless extremely necessary." Volteer said with a weak smile. "Even after tens of thousands of years, people might still be hostile to the title."

"Okay, I won't tell anyone." Lex nodded.

"Um... Volteer...?" A voice asked beside Volteer. He looked at the voice's direction and saw Eve.

"What is it Eve?" Volteer asked back.

"Well... it's almost a week since we got here and... um... I was wondering... what is my element?" Eve sheepishly asked.

Lex immediately turned to Eve with a mischievous grin. "Oh, NOW you wanna know." He teased.

"Shut up." Eve sheepishly replied. Eve turned to Volteer and saw that he is hesitant. "Volteer?"

"Well, I was about to inform you earlier but then, I stumbled upon this discovery and got distracted." Volteer said, before he hesitantly continued. "Eve... I'm afraid that... you are... elementless."

Right, good news: Lex is actually the Ultima Dragon. Bad news: Eve is elementless... or is she?

Okay... I really have no idea what to put in this author's note. Not much happened in life that I wanna mention. Oh yeah, what do you think about the Ultima Dragon's Legend? It's the one with the italics.

I think that it is quite great, considering that English is not my first language and I came up with it in under an hour. I wanna know what you think, 'cause I might need to come up with another prophecy in a future chapter. Is it good? Great? Adequate?
