Big Brother- Episode 9
It was the morning after the nomination ceremony, which meant only one thing. That afternoon, six houseguests would vie for the veto, hoping to either keep the nominations the same or rescue someone from impending eviction. After last night's red hot nomination ceremony, Mario had stormed off yet again, frustrated that the house was moving against him so quickly.
Mario: I'm so-a-sorry that I have a brother. The house has been-a-gunning for me since I walk in the-a-door! I'm so fed up with this, I want to go-a-home!
However, Mario wasn't the only angry houseguest waking up to a house of enemies. As Daisy stirred, lying on Luigi's chest, she remembered how furious she had been before slipping into sleep.
Daisy: It is quite obvious that Birdo is listening to Peach like she's her leader. Peach needs to go, and if I win the veto, then I'm going to try and convince Birdo to nominate Peach. We can easily add Birdo into the Shroom Squad and then give Toadette the boot, it would be fantastic!
Rising and planting a firm kiss on Luigi's lips, Daisy changed out of her pajamas and into some orange running shorts and a bright orange tank top. Taking her cropped auburn hair and tying it into a fashionable bun, she slipped on her black-framed glasses and walked out into the house.
"Oh morning Daisy," Rosalina waved, busy frying up some eggs.
"You're making breakfast again?" Daisy asked, "Why are you so nice to us?"
"Well," Rosalina winked, "Someone has to be."
Rosalina: I cannot entirely bank on Housekeeping, I have to keep my eyes open for any possible threats. So I'm really playing up my social game, that way if people figure things out, they'll chip away at the others and not me.
"Excited for the veto today?" Rosalina asked Daisy, dishing out some eggs onto a plate.
"I don't know if you could call it excited, but I'm very anxious," Daisy replied, eyeing the eggs with a hungry gleam in her eye.
"I understand," Rosalina smiled, "There's a lot riding on this competition."
"You could say that again," Daisy sighed as DK stumbled into the room.
"Say what again?" The hulking simian asked, confused.
"Daisy just nervous for today's veto competition," Rosalina answered, nodding her good morning to the ape.
"Oh don't be upset," DK laughed nonchalantly, "I'm sure you've got it locked up."
"I don't know," Daisy sighed, "I don't think many people would use the veto on me."
"What makes you say that?" Rosalina raised an eyebrow, "Just because Peach has a vendetta against you doesn't mean you're going home."
"What?" Daisy asked, a little shocked at Rosalina's statement.
"We've all seen it," DK said hotly, getting some juice out of the fridge, "Ever since Peach won her Head of Household, she thinks she runs this place."
"It'd be our honor to help you out of this jam," Rosalina said thickly.
Daisy saw this was her chance, so she divulged her wishes to Rosalina and DK about possibly backdooring Peach.
"I don't know," DK sighed, "It'd take a lot to convince Birdo."
"Not if we stirred up some drama," Daisy pointed out.
"Like what?" Rosalina asked, wondering what Daisy had up her sleeve.
"Tell Birdo Peach has been saying nasty things about her, then she'll get mad at Peach and the two can argue it out," Daisy revealed.
"Sounds risky," DK clenched his teeth, "Why don't we see who wins the veto first?"
Daisy nodded her head, sad that DK and Rosalina weren't fully on board with her plan. It all depended on who won this afternoon.
Upstairs in the Head of Household room, Birdo was talking with Peach, who was in another malevolent firestorm.
"She cannot win today!" Peach hissed, referring to Daisy.
"She flipped on one vote Peach, stop freaking out," Birdo said icily, fed up with Peach's nonsense.
"Excuse me?" Peach asked, putting a dramatic hand to her heart in shock.
"Excuse you," Birdo looked Peach up and down, "You need to realize who's in charge here. No get out, I want to talk to Luigi thank you."
"How rude of y…," Peach began but Birdo threw her a chilling glare.
"This little alliance we have," Birdo moved her fingers back and forth, "Has no leader! You, Toadette, and I are a team. You are not our leader, we decide things democratically. I'm tired of you bossing me around, it's early, I'm exhausted, and I don't want to put up with anymore of your crap!"
"Well I never," Peach breathed, exasperated. Gliding out of the room, Peach threw Birdo a mean look, but Birdo wouldn't have it. The jeweler had grown tired of the nutritionist, and if Birdo had heard Daisy's plan in that moment, she would've agreed.
Creeping upstairs, Luigi passed an angry Peach, who gave him an agitated look. Shrugging, Luigi did not know why Peach would be mad at him, neither why Birdo wanted to see him. Ascending the stairs, he opened the door to the Head of Household room.
"You wanted to-a-see me?" Luigi asked, perplexed.
"Have a seat dear," Birdo waved her hand, "I wanted to talk to you about today."
"Ask away," Luigi said nervously.
"Say perchance you win the veto, you're going to use it on Daisy I presume?" Birdo played out.
"Probably," Luigi admitted, his mustache bobbing up and down.
"That's what I thought, and there's no problem with that. It's clear that if you were to win the veto, and I could not put up either you or Daisy, then that leaves me with a predicament," Birdo explained.
"I see," Luigi mumbled, "You would not-a-know who to put up."
"Exactly," Birdo said coldly, "And I want to know what you would support. I don't want to mess with the floaters yet, but then that leaves only Peach and Toadette."
"DK," Luigi answered, "If you won't put up Peach or Toadette, nominate-a-DK. He's a-very strong."
"As I've noticed," Birdo beat her eyelashes.
"Is that all?" Luigi questioned, wondering why Birdo had even spoken to him.
"I guess so," Birdo whispered, "Bye honey."
"Uh-bye," Luigi said, still confused as he wandered away.
Downstairs, everyone was eating breakfast, and Luigi and Birdo joined everyone. Luigi immediately attached to Daisy's hip and told her everything about his meeting with Birdo. Smiling, Daisy believed she may have found a window.
"This is so-a-good," Mario praised Rosalina, munching on his eggs. She had prepared them with several herbs and vegetables, so they were very invigorating. As everyone ate together, they all wondered how the day would turn out to be at its end, and who would be sitting up on the block.
After breakfast, Birdo disappeared upstairs with Peach and Toadette, most likely going to cook up some schemes. No one followed them, and instead while Daisy and Luigi enjoyed the pool together, Housekeeping decided to meet up since Mario was also taking a nap before the veto competition.
"Priorities," Pauline smacked her lips together, waving everyone into the bedroom, "We need to win this veto and save Daisy."
"Why?" Waluigi asked, bowing his head.
"It's about time Peach left the house," Rosalina sang, "And she's going to be oh-so shocked."
"How will we convince her to nominate Peach in Daisy's stead though?" DK asked, worrying about Birdo's cooperation.
"That shouldn't be too hard," Pauline replied with a flick of her wrist, "Birdo is already growing tired of the bossy girl. If we give Birdo a push in the right direction, then Peach should be packing her bags on Thursday night."
"Alright," Waluigi nodded, "We need to win this veto, and save Daisy."
"Hopefully," Rosalina hung her head, hoping that Housekeeping could make their first big move of the game.
"Who is ready for the veto competition?" Birdo shouted, emerging from the Head of Household room by herself. By that time, Peach and Toadette were conversing in the lounge, and Daisy and Luigi had dried off and come inside. Mario was roused from his slumber, and Rosalina and Pauline entered the room together. DK and Waluigi towed in last, having just finished their game of billiards.
Taking their respective seats on the nominees couch, Mario and Daisy sat down, but there was still room left on the couch. Before the game would begin, the third nominee needed to be revealed, and someone smiled a sly smile, knowing they had been selected, and had cast their nomination.
Daisy: I was so ecstatic when I found the card in the Diary Room, telling me I had been voted as the BB MVP! I knew exactly what to do with it too. This way, we won't have to get Birdo to nominate Peach, I can do it myself!
THE THIRD NOMINEE, the screen read, blaring its neon letters. Everyone grew nervous, wondering who the third nomination would be, and who the MVP was this week. Peach had speculated that it had been Wario trying to save his own skin, but little did she know that Toadette had controlled the third nomination last week. This time however, someone else was in control.
Pictures of each houseguest flashed by, even the dulled photographs of Yoshi and Wario. After a myriad of faces flew by, they eventually settled on one face that lit up the screen, causing several houseguests to smile.
"Peach," Birdo gulped, "Please join Mario and Daisy on the couch."
"What?" Peach shrieked, shocked. "I'm going to get whoever did this," the antagonistic woman cried crossly. She plopped down next to Mario and Daisy, folding her arms and shooting Daisy vile looks.
"Stop acting like a child," Daisy shot at Peach.
"Excuse me?" Peach yelled.
"You heard me you snob," Daisy jeered.
"Say that again!" Peach demanded.
"I called you a slob, a fat one at that!" Daisy shouted.
"Ladies," Waluigi sighed, "Shut up for once alright? Deal with it later, because right now you've got bigger problems."
"Thank you Waluigi," Birdo sighed, rubbing her temples in an attempt to calm herself amongst all the drama.
"We will now select players for the veto competition, could the three other nominees please join me up here?" Birdo began, jostling together the silky bag in her hand, which held all of the names of each houseguest.
Reaching into the bag, Birdo plucked out the first chip, eager to get this meeting over with and get on to the competition. She was already tiring of having power, and wanted the noise in the house to simmer down.
"Pauline," Birdo said, holding up the chip. Smiling, Pauline shot up towards the other players, eager to be a part of the veto competition.
Next, Mario reached in his hand, picking out the next name, "Luigi," Mario said brightly, unknowing of Luigi's plan to save Daisy over Mario.
Luigi: Are you-a-kidding? Mario picked my-a-name! I have to-a-lose, otherwise I'll be breaking-a-someone's heart!
"Let's head on out to the backyard," Birdo said, "But first, I must select a host, and I choose Toadette!"
"Alright!" Toadette cheered, happy to host. Proceeding to the diary room, Toadette donned her hosting costume, and once she was dressed, everyone followed her out the back door and into the newly transformed backyard.
Situated near the front were six barrels of different colors, each one aligned along a certain path. Each path lead to a bone with a veto symbol painted onto it, and it was obvious the object was to retrieve said bone. But no one paid attention to any of that, because sound asleep at the end of the backyard, protecting each of the six bones, was a humongous Chain Chomp.
"Are…a-are you serious?" Daisy shuddered, positively scared.
"What?" Peach snorted, "Is the little baby afraid?"
"Peach," Mario cut his eyes at her, signaling her to silence herself. Peach sighed, festering in her own foul mood.
Once the six players were situated, Toadette grabbed the instruction card, reading the directions barely over a whisper. She was dressed in a nightgown with a nightcap on her head, and she rested her hands on a fluffy pillow.
"The objective of this game is to retrieve your bone at the end of your path, but it won't be that easy," Toadette instructed, "First, you must don a barrel, which will restrict your movement. Sneaking along the pathway, you must retrieve your bone as quickly as possible. But be warned, if you make too much movement, you will wake up the Chain Chomp that rests at the end of the path, and anyone peeking out of the barrel at that time will be eliminated. Is everyone ready to play Sneak N' Snore?"
Everyone nodded, afraid to say yes because they might wake up the Chain Chomp. Ready to play, everyone put on their barrels, and Rosalina, DK, and Waluigi looked on from the sidelines, happy they did not have to play this one.
Peach: It was bad enough that I was nominated by this shifty third nominee, but now I have to dodge a Chain Chomp? Are you kidding me?
Mario: Already Peach and Daisy were acting like schoolgirls, but now with this Chain Chomp thrown into everything, I was-a-ready to give up!
Birdo: My goodness, this is one of the moments where you wish you weren't the Head of Household!
"Ready," Toadette whispered, "Set, Go!"
Everyone braced themselves, hungry for the veto. Creeping along in their barrels, everyone realized they moved at about the same pace with them on. They were all even at first, slowly shuffling along the path, barely moving at all in fear of the slumbering Chain Chomp.
Realizing no one was going to pick up their speed, Mario decided to break ahead a little. He felt as if he would surely be evicted this week, and added just a bit of speed to his approach, well aware of the repercussions.
"What are you doing?" Luigi hissed at his brother, upset he was moving faster.
"Quiet down," Mario hissed back, afraid the Chain Chomp might wake up. Mario looked ahead, but the metallic beast was still snoring soundly. Feeling triumphant, Mario didn't realize his pace, and soon sped up a bit more, this time making an impression on the path.
"Arf!" Chain Chomp barked, springing awake. Everyone ducked inside their barrels, and none of them had been eliminated. Quieting down, the Chain Chomp went back to sleep, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief as they popped back up from their barrels.
"You could've been eliminated," Luigi hissed at Mario again.
"Quit making so much noise!" Daisy shouted, not realizing her mistake. Staying quiet, Pauline had heard Daisy's outburst and dove into her barrel at time, and Peach followed suit. Mario saw the beast stir, and quickly disappeared. Noticing the flurry of activity, Birdo ducked inside, and Luigi barely made it in time.
"Ow!" Daisy yelped as the Chain Chomp smashed into her barrel, reducing it to splinters. Daisy quickly fled the scene, becoming the first person eliminated.
"Sorry Daisy," Toadette whispered, rising from her comfy pillow, "But you've been eliminated."
"Yeah whatever," Daisy spat, furious she had lost.
Daisy: I bet that made Peach so happy, to see me get eliminated first. Luigi was making so much noise, why was he doing that?
Feeling guilty about causing Daisy's outburst, Luigi decided to speed ahead, and evened himself with the leading Mario. Furrowing his brow, Mario was not about to be bested by Luigi, seeing as this was his third consecutive week up for nomination.
Pauline was slowly plodding along, taking it slow and steady. They were nearing the bones now, which meant they were closer to the Chain Chomp. Noises that would have sufficed before now had to be quelled, and as they approached the snoring behemoth, Birdo tripped on her barrel, having tried to speed up.
The Chain Chomp suddenly burst forward, smashing Birdo's barrel to smithereens. It wheeled around and slammed into Mario, who hadn't been quick enough either. However, Peach, Luigi, and Pauline had all made it into their barrel in time, and they were safe.
"Sorry Mario and Birdo," Toadette said quietly, "But you've been eliminated."
Mario: I don't expect anyone to remove me from the block except for myself or Luigi, but with his new romance, he could remove Daisy if he wins, so getting eliminated might mean I'm on the block for good this time around.
Birdo: I wasn't too upset that I lost, and I didn't care who won at that point. Peach has been annoying me lately, and I'm glad I told her off this morning, she needs to learn her place in this house.
Each of the remaining three players had grabbed their bones now, and were making their way back. The Chain Chomp slept peacefully, a little bit of drool escaping its pointy teeth. Easing their way back, the remaining three were thinking of ways to break ahead without waking the Chain Chomp.
Suddenly, the Chain Chomp woke up, albeit zero movement. It rolled around for a moment, creating some noise from its massive clinking chain. Hearing the noise, Luigi and Peach dove into their barrels, but Pauline had not heard the noise.
"Whoa!" She shouted as her barrel exploded, running away from the rampaging Chain Chomp.
"Sorry Pauline, but you're out," Toadette acted glum.
Pauline: I thought I was going to win that one!
Peach and Luigi were closing in, and although they both had their bones, it only mattered who crossed the line first. Speeding up just a bit, knowing she was far away enough to not stir the Chain Chomp, Peach broke ahead and reached her starting position, winning the veto.
"Alright!" Peach shouted, waking the Chain Chomp. However, they were too far from it to break their barrels, and Peach slid out of hers doing a victory dance. Luigi rested his head on his barrel, disappointed he had lost. Accepting the golden power of veto from Toadette, Peach's victory sealed the end of the competition.
"Take that!" Peach shot at Daisy, "Who's the snob now?"
"You," Daisy mumbled quietly, aggravated that her master plan was no awry. But she was not the only one angry, and as everyone entered the house again, the members of Housekeeping shot each other aggravated looks, but they couldn't do much since only one member of their alliance had been selected to play.
Luigi: Even though I would've wanted the-a-veto, I'm glad I did not-a-win it. I would have-a-had to choose between-a-Mario and a-Daisy, and that's a choice I do not want to-a-make.
Before the veto meeting, Housekeeping did not find time to meet, and Peach's decision seemed obvious. She also thought she had a good idea of who the MVP was, but as Birdo called for the veto meeting, Peach kept quiet.
"This is the veto meeting," Birdo began, as soon as everyone crowded into the room. "Mario, Daisy, and Peach have been nominated for eviction. Because Peach won the power of veto, she may now choose to use the veto on herself or someone else."
"I think this is going to be obvious," Peach giggled, trying to be friendly, "But I'm going to have to use the power of veto on myself."
"Since I have vetoed the MVP's nomination, their replacement will now be selected," Peach went on, taking her new seat on the couch with the safe houseguests. Once again, the images of each houseguest flew around on the screen, and settled on Toadette.
"Oh gee," Toadette reacted with gloom, taking her seat on the edge of the couch, "Thanks a lot Daisy."
"What?" Daisy said, truly surprised, "What is your problem?"
"First Peach and now me?" Toadette played with her braid, "Who else would gun for us?"
"Stop it you two," Birdo said sharply, tired of all the drama, "This veto meeting is adjourned."
Mario, Daisy, and Toadette rose from the couch, each one fueled with anger. Upset that he had lost the veto, Mario hung his head in shame, and Daisy and Toadette shot each other raging glares. Walking off in separate directions, the two girls went to their rooms, and Birdo simply shook her head. She did not know that being in charge would be so difficult, but a lot of drama had occurred as of late, and with eviction night looming overhead, things were sure to get even more heated.
Daisy: First I lose my plan to backdoor Peach, and now Toadette has revealed me as the MVP! Am I that obvious? I'm pretty sure I'm going home on Thursday, but hopefully the house will go for Mario, because I don't see them going for Toadette.
Toadette: It's obvious Daisy's the MVP. She's against our alliance, and both people nominated by the MVP were from my alliance with Peach and Birdo. Daisy can deny it all she wants, but I know it's her.
Mario: Mamma Mia, I don't-a-know what to do. I just-a-hope people vote to evict-a-Daisy, as much as a-Luigi loves her. The house is mad at-a-her for stirring up so-a-much drama, so she's-a-my only shot!
Sorry I've been gone for so long! I hope you liked this chapter, so please leave a review and let me know what you thought!
