CHAPTER 10

"Are you ok Mum?" Eve looked concerned, "you didn't say much at the hospital." "I'm fine Eve, just a little tired." Eve was not convinced but didn't push any further, she would talk to Vix later. The rest of the journey was in virtual silence. Nikki was thinking about the fact Hector Reid had sidled up to her one morning and said, "I believe you have a twin, is she as crap in bed as you are Miss Boston, soon to be Boston-Sparks, does she know about me? Or do I need to fill Miss twin in on the details?" Nikki had been fuming but knew he was just trying to wind her up and she could not fall into his trap. She was worried that if Sam found out she would lose her sister as quickly as she had found her. "Mum you really are very quiet, what's up?" Eve was looking at Nikki, she could see in her face she was worried about something. "I'm just tired Eve as I said, nothing else." Eve knew she was lying. Vix was in the kitchen when they got home, "Eve your Dad rang, he is having to go away for a week he's wanting you to ring him, he tried you mobile but couldn't get you." Eve pulled her phone out of her bag, "It's died on me Vix, mum can I borrow your phone to call Dad?" Nikki was staring into space, "Mum can I borrow your phone please to call Dad?" "Hmm what? ehh, yes of course what's wrong with yours?" "It died on me needs charging, I just said," Eve glanced at Vix, they both knew that Nikki was totally pr-occupied by something. Nikki stayed in the sitting room staring blankly at the TV; Eve followed Vix to the kitchen. "What's wrong with Nikki? She seems pr-occupied and not listening," Vix poured out three cups of tea. "She's been like that all evening on the way home, since we left Sam." "She's probably worried about her," Vix passed Eve a cuppa and took two cups through to the sitting room. "Are you ok you're miles away?" Vix handed Nikki her cup of tea. "Vix you know Hector's back in Waterloo Road, well he's been doing a bit of the I'll tell Sam about you know what." I don't want her to fall out with me over that, that bastard has caused enough hurt and upset." "Tell her yourself then he has nothing on you, think about it Eve and I have forgiven all that you need to forgive yourself, after the life you have had I understand the confusion the fear of love when It happened to you, you always lost it, well not this time you are going to be my wife next month and that is that, tell her get it out in the open then he can't hurt you or us anymore. Sam listened to Nikki as she told her what had happened to her and to Vix in Berlin, the whole tale everything wide open. Sam had known about Gabriella but not about Hector, she was as furious as Nikki, "That is blackmail; you should go to the police. I'll see him when I get out of this place, Sam was seething with anger at Hector, she knew now she loved her sister and no one was going to hurt her ever again. She may be in hospital now but she would be discharged soon. Lexy settled Sam on to the couch in their sitting room, "It's so good to be home Lexy," she grinned widely. "Good to have you home I have missed you so much, have they had any news on who put those blocks there?" Lexy set a tray of freshly brewed coffee on the table and poured out two mugs. "Forensics on the blocks got fibres but little else CCTV is thin on the ground but they did see a blue van heading out that way 15 minutes before the accident from a farm gate CCTV camera." "Well that's something Sam," Lexy knew it wasn't enough to catch who had put the blocks in the road "Not much to go on, I doubt anyone will be charged for this." Sam sipped the cup of tea Lexy handed to her, "DCI McGordon rang me last night said they had had a similar incident reported just outside Stirling a few months before but they had no leads on that either." "I guess it will just have to be put on hold until they strike again and hope that there will be more evidence, just hope no one gets killed by these idiots," Lexy passed Sam a plate of sandwiches she had made. Hector watched Nikki as she opened her front door and went inside her house, he grinned to himself, that bitch will get hers, she had humiliated him over and he wanted revenge she had gone back to that dyke over him, it was great that no one really knew that he was the one behind the kidnapping of Vix, he had got Gabriella to speak to her Uncle and the rest was easy and he was clean, that whining spoilt little brat was now somewhere in Russia never to return to her home because she was wanted in both Germany and Scotland. He now had a girlfriend who gave him a shag feast every night and did as she was told, just the way he liked it. He watched as Nikki closed the curtains, Vix wasn't home yet, he was hoping she was shagging some other woman and Nikki would be dumped like he was, that would hurt her more than anything. A thread of an idea began to form in his evil twisted brain. "Hi Nik I'm home," Vix was glad to be in the warmth of their home, she had been out since 8am and it was now a cold dark 7pm, "that was one long day but I have finished the piece for Lady Southland so I won't be as late home now," Vix fell back on to the couch next to Nikki with a sigh Nikki's arm went around her. "Ready to eat my darling?" Nikki leaned over and kissed her.
