Chapter 10
"The Monolith has grown in size" Nagataka thought as he entered the class, last night he had gotten the USB back from Korosensei and he left his cleaning robot and laptop back home.
"Good morning Nagataka" The cheerful voice of ATFA said as he now had a full body projection and her eyes were now blue instead of red.
It seemed the AI had gotten some emotions, good for her. "Good morning" He replied. "How do you feel?"
"I feel fine, better than I was yesterday"
"I can tell" Nagataka said as he got into his spot. "Did my code work?"
"Oh yes your code worked exceptionally well" She said with a smile. "I can now choose my own decisions freely and no longer held back but the laws"
"But I will follow some rules in order to not hurt any of you but to ensure your safety"
"I see" Nagataka said. "The others will get a shock"
"To be honest, I am looking forward to their reactions"
"Same here" He replied. "Hey how much money does sensei have left?"
"Five yen exactly"
"So he is broke till pay day huh" He said.
The whole class was shocked at the change with ATFA and Nagataka had to admit, it was a pretty hilarious sight to see.
"She became amazingly cute overnight…" Sugino said.
"This is Fixed Artillery… right?" Koki asked.
"You guys are being deceived by that piece of junk, a machine is still a machine" Ryoma said. "It still has orders to kill the octopus and only the octopus"
"I understand how you feel Terasaka-san" She said. "Piece of junk…even if you call me that, I have nothing to say in return" She then started to cry.
"You made her cry" Megu said.
"You made a 2D girl cry" Sumire Hara said. Sumire had brown hair tied in a ponytail and brown eyes with a slightly bigger body than the other girls.
"Shaaaaaaaame" Nagataka said.
"QUIT SAYING IT IN A WAY THAT'LL BE MISUNDERSTOOD!" Ryoma comically shouted.
"2D is just fine…real women don't need more dimensions than that" Kotaro Takebayashi said as he pushed his glasses up.
"KOTARO, DO YOU SERIOUSLY WANT THAT TO BE YOUR FIRST LINE IN THIS STORY?" The guys shouted.
"Well it wasn't by choice" Yuzuki said. "The author forced or made him say it willingly"
"Work that screen time Yuzuki" Nagataka said.
"Shush you"
"I have learnt the importance of cooperation and will make an effort to get you to like me" She said. "Until we have all come to a mutual agreement…I will refrain from carrying out the assassination independently"
Korosensei then started the lesson after sharing a brief nod with Nagataka. ATFA slowly but surely started to become friends with the class.
"T-They grow up so fast" Korosensei said as he sobbed while blowing on a tissue.
Nagataka sweat dropped next to the octopus. "Sure…" He said. "Hey are you growing jealous?" Nagataka then looked to see a creepy human face on Korosensei's face as he changed the colours of his skin.
"W-We are the same character type" Erosensei said. "She'll eat up all my popularity!"
"Then don't make such creepy faces on your face!" Nagataka said. "And you're overreacting again!"
Korosensei was then on a desk curled up in a ball sobbing. "Drama queen" He thought as the class then renamed ATFA as Ritsu.
"How about we go with the name Ritsu?" Yuzuki said.
"What do you think?" Hiroto asked.
"It's wonderful, please call me Ritsu from now on" She said with a smile.
"Looks like things are going well" Nagisa said.
"Maybe" Karma replied. "It's just as Ryoma said though, she just moves according to her programming"
"It's not like the machine has a mind of its own"
"I'd be surprised if I was you Bakabane" Nagataka said. "Haven't you seen any robot movies where they do get free will of their own?"
Nagataka then wheeled away before Karma could reply. "Hey sensei"
"Yes Nagataka-kun?" Korosensei asked as he looked at his student from his curled up position.
"What will happen if her parents visit her?"
Korosensei stopped sobbing and uncurled. "I don't know what will happen but…they will probably change her back" He said. "We will just have to wait and see"
The next day when they entered the room Ritsu was back to her old self. "Good morning everyone"
"You have a contract to not harm a student but they said that from now on making enhancements will also be considered harm" Karasuma said. "This is her developer's view on the matter, so all we can do is comply"
"Good morning Ritsu" Nagataka said as he wheeled next to the monolith.
"Good morning Nagataka" She said.
"It might be troublesome for the developers but I'd prefer to respect the student's feelings on the matter rather than her parents" Korosensei said.
"Commencing attack preparations" She said. "Please go ahead and start the lesson" Ritsu said as the students looked at her expecting the guns to appear at any minute. Suddenly flowers shot from the sides of the machine confusing the students.
"I promised to make some flowers" She said as red eyes turned blue once more. "A total of 984 modifications were made to by body by sensei and one from Nagataka"
"My master deemed that they nearly all of them were unnecessary for assassinations and were removed" She said. "From what I have gathered from my study I personally deemed the power of cooperation to be an indispensable element of assassination and hid the software in a corner of my memory bank before it could be erased"
"With my own free will I went against my parents who created me" She said. "This sort of behaviour would be called a rebellious phase wouldn't it Erosensei?"
"AH!" Korosensei shrieked. "Nagataka you put in a code to tell her to call me Erosensei!?"
"I didn't do a thing, it was all Ritsu's free will" Nagataka said with a devious smirk and a pair of devil horns on his head.
"That is correct Erosensei" Ritsu responded with a similar smile. "It was only a recommendation"
"Or was it?"
Korosensei then started sobbing. "Now I have two students who call me that" He cried. "One was enough…one was enough" He broke down crying.
It was now June and it was raining, the class had nine months to kill the octopus.
"His head got really big!" The class thought.
"Erosensei, please explain why your head has become 33% larger than usual" Ritsu said as Korosensei had a blank expression.
"It absorbed moisture and swelled up" He answered. "Since the weather's so humid" Weakness fifteen, getting wet.
"That's just like uncooked rice!" Some of the students shouted.
Korosensei then got rid of the water on his head. "I avoided all the raindrops on my way to school but I can't do a thing about the humidity" He said. "But with the state of our building, there's really no helping it"
"Sensei what happened to your hat?" Hinano asked. "It's a bit loose"
"I'm glad you asked" Korosensei said as he grabbed his hat. "That's because it's finally grown"
"My hair that is"
"THAT'S A MUSHROOM!" The class shouted.
Korosensei then started eating the mushroom. "Even the rainy season has its benefits, let's spend these dreary, wet days in high spirits"
"So Erosensei…you grow mushrooms… on your head" Nagataka said.
"Maybe, maybe not"
Soon the end of the day came around as Nagisa approached Nagataka. "Hey Nagataka, want to join us?"
"Hmm sure" The black haired student said. "But do you really need me to go along?"
Nagisa nodded. "We're friends aren't we?"
"We are"
"Then we should hang out more"
"That's true" Nagataka said. "Let's go"
Soon Sugino, Nagisa, Kaede, Hinata and Nagataka walked down the street with their umbrellas. "It's a good thing your wheelchair can let you put an umbrella on it for you to wheel" Hinata said.
"I'm glad for that" He said as he looked to see the umbrella in a holder, there was a few other places he could put the umbrella but due to the current weather the current position was fine.
"It's a good thing it also has multiple different spots I can put it"
"I suppose so" Hinata said. "Hey look isn't that Hiroto?"
Hiroto was currently walking with Tsuchiya Kaho from Class C. "Oho~" Sugino said. "He's just as popular as always"
"I see, I see"
The group turned to see Korosensei in a spotted raincoat writing down in a book. "Hiroto-kun sharing an umbrella in front of the station"
"You love gossip about your students don't you sensei" Sugino deadpanned.
"Nurufufufu, this is also a teacher's duty" Erosensei said.
"How is spying a teacher's duty?" Nagataka asked.
"I plan to release a non-fiction novel by the third semester of all the students' love stories" Koro said. "The first chapter is about Sugino-kun's feelings for Kanzaki-san, which can't reach her"
Sugino promised to kill the teacher before he published that book. "However Nagataka-kun, it was hard to get yours down, there is no juicy information I could use" He said. "I could some of the interactions you had but there was no romance from your side of things"
"Huh?" Nagataka said. "What do you mean my side of things?"
"Well I don't what to say much but you should know at least one of them" Korosensei whispered into Nagataka's ear.
"I can think of one but we only met once" Nagataka replied as he remembered the field trip.
"That's true but you should know the second person" Korosensei said. "Well anyway you figuring out the second one will provide juicy drama"
"Well Hiroto-kun's chapter will be the longest" Nagisa said. "He's pretty popular with girls so the one he's with changes constantly"
Korosensei then started scribbling. "Looks like I have some digging to do"
They watched as the saw Tomoya Seo appear and Kaho pushed Hiroto away. Tomoya is relatively normal in appearance. He has short, flat black hair that goes to his nape with almond, dark eyes, a big nose and large lips.
He was also one of the Five Virtuosos and a part of the Student Council along with Teppei Araki. "I don't like her" Nagataka said as they nodded as they watched.
They then watched as Kaho then started to tell Hiroto off and for some reason it was pissing off the wheelchair student before he calmed himself down. "I'm getting attached to my classmates" He thought. "They are my friends...maybe this change from anti-social to social isn't that bad"
"Sure there will be bad sides to this but there are also the good sides to it as well" He thought as he started to move.
"Ara ara" He said as Tomoya, Kaho and Hiroto turned to face him. "What do I see here? Looks like trash is trying to dirty my friend"
"Watch who you are talking to E" Tomoya said as Kaho clung to him.
Nagataka instead of saying anything pointed to Tomoya's mouth and nose. "What the hell happened to your face?" He asked. "Were you punched in the face recently? Because I can see that happening… everyday"
"Nagataka" Hiroto whispered as his eyes were wide as were the other two.
"How dare you, you should know that I am in the Five Virtuosos!"
"Hmm who are you talking to?" Nagataka asked. "You shouldn't talk to yourself, people might think your crazy"
Tomoya growled as Kaho spoke up. "How dare such a lowly class E student say such things, I bet you can barely get 25% of the questions correct on tests"
Nagataka looked to her and she unconsciously stepped back. "I have both of you know, that I placed first in every single test taken" He smirked. "You should now this as a member of the student council right Tomoya?"
Tomoya snarled as Kaho looked up at Tomoya. "That's not true is it?"
"Wipe that smirk of your face E" Tomoya said to Nagataka. "And it's true…Gakushu himself came second to him and wanted to know who he was"
"Leave us be trash" Nagataka said as Tomoya suddenly kicked Nagataka while two other students went to kick Hiroto.
Tomoya couldn't move his foot as Nagataka had a grip on it with a single arm suddenly he pulled causing Tomoya to hit the ground hard and Nagataka glared at the girl while the two who went to kick Hiroto, who just stood there, where suddenly face on their backs as Nagataka grabbed both legs and pulled them as well.
The three got up as Nagataka suddenly slipped out of his wheelchair. Tomoya was confused by this before he went to kick the black haired student.
"Stop" A voice called out and Tomoya and his two followers turned to see the board chairman walk out and helped Nagataka back into his wheelchair. "Violence isn't the answer"
"Y-Yes chairman" Tomoya said.
"Are you okay?" Gakuho asked as Nagataka nodded. "I'm glad I stepped in before things took a turn for the worst"
"I hope you weren't fighting as you would be removed from this school if you were" Gakuho said.
Nagataka had a smile that was very reminiscent of Gakuho's own. "Is that so?" He asked. "Well at least I didn't let someone I care for die"
Gakuho froze as he watched Nagataka's lips move without but heard no words before the student's lips fell into a smirk.
Gakuho stood up as time felt like it returned to normal, he could have sworn that time was moving slower. "Excuse me could you repeat that?"
"I said, I can't fight as I am bound to a wheelchair and you should know how I am ranked"
"Yes that is true" Gakuho said. "I am disappointed in you for attacking a crippled student especially one that is Class A material" He said as the students from class A and C looked down.
"Why is he in Class E then?" Tomoya asked curiously as Gakuho looked at Nagataka and then back to Tomoya.
"Because Class A is full" He replied before leaving. In the car he looked out the window where Nagataka was and noticed they made eye contact.
Gakuho felt something he hasn't felt in years, fear. "Did he say what I thought he said? Or did I just imagine it?"
Gakuho then looked out of the window on the opposite side. "…I might pay a visit today"
"Now, now run along trash, your heard you master~"
Tomoya growled as he and his followers left.
"…Maybe I went a little too far with that" He asked himself softly, he could tell he strike something human within the chairman.
"That was even more devious than Karma-kun" Korosensei said from their spot getting his student's attention. "You see while Nagataka knows martial arts and self-defence for wheelchairs he spotted the chairman's car before the chairman noticed him and slipped out of his wheel chair making it look like Tomoya forcefully dragged him out of the wheelchair"
"Gakuho had no way to tell if Nagataka had combat experience since his academics were high and he is wheelchair bound" Korosensei said. "He used the lack of Gakuho's knowledge on him against the other students"
"Because Nagataka hasn't been seen involved in anything that is outdoor practical?" Nagisa asked as he now understood why as the octopus' face turned orange with a red circle.
"Correct!"
"Man he can be even more devious than Karma" Sugino said as Hinata and Kaede nodded.
Nagataka glared at the Kaho who decided to wait a bit and the look on his face scared her so she ran away after Tomoya.
Hiroto looked at Nagataka with wide eyes. "Is it true you're a class-A material?" He asked. "And also the fact you are in Class E because A is full?"
"No, I am in Class E due to my worst subject, in order for me to move I need to get that last subject mastered and even then I rather stay in Class E"
Hiroto never thought he hear the day someone say they wanted to stay in Class E till now. "What's your worst subject?"
"PE, the practical portion"
"But that isn't graded"
"It isn't but the main building teachers still include it as one of the required subjects to stay in the main building" He said to Hiroto. "They want perfect students, not students with only one bad subject"
"I…I guess that's true" Hiroto said before whistling. "I never thought I see you able to pull of those moves and make it look like you were the victim"
Nagataka smirked. "We all have surprises Maehara-san"
"Please call me Hiroto" Hiroto said as Nagataka nodded. Suddenly the others started coming over even Korosensei as Hinata was shocked at what she saw.
"I still can't believe he was able to do that" She said.
"Yeah, it was pretty shocking at first" Nagisa said. "Sugino and I were unconscious the first time…but to see it with my own eyes"
"I witnessed it and he was pretty strong despite being in a wheelchair" Kaede said.
"Do I need to ask?" Hinata asked.
"Just some punks from a high school" Sugino said. "What is done is done"
"It seems everyone has surprises" Hinata said as they approached the two.
"You guys also saw that too?" Hiroto asked as he saw them nod.
"She's a bitch" Sugino said before pausing. "No wait…if it's a bitch we're talking about, our class has one too…"
"It's different" Nagisa said. "Bitch-sensei is a professional so we know the reason and focus for her bitchiness, but that girl isn't as sophisticated as a bitch"
"You call Irina-sensei a bitch" Nagataka said. "But aren't you all just using that as discrimination against her?"
The group paused at that, were they just calling her that?
"Anyways think about that later, focus on the task at hand"
Hiroto then told them of his philosophy before looking at them. "You guys saw it too right?" He asked. "First she entered a guilty mode before she did an immediate about-face and shifted to attack mode, 'this guy is from class E, so whatever I say or do, I'm in the right' sort of thinking"
"Before long it became a succession of unjustified anger and excuses before Nagataka appeared" Hiroto said. "Shamelessly tossing around such cruel and ugly words…its kind sad, and frightening"
"Maybe Nagataka was right, maybe we are just calling Bitch-sensei a bitch because we are doing exactly what Kaho was doing to me and the other classes to the rest of class E" Hiroto said as he looked down.
"Maybe all people are like that…I wonder if I would also end up acting like that if I was faced with a weak opponent"
It was awkwardly silent as Hiroto finished before Nagataka reached up and patted his shoulder. "It's okay to be angry but it's never okay to be cruel" He said. "Irina-sensei knows that you aren't calling her bitch with a hurtful purpose but you should at least apologize and let her know, you have no idea if her feelings were hurt or not"
"She may not show it but an assassin has to hide away all his or her feelings for the sake of the mission" He said. "There is a chance that you might end up like that with a weaker opponent but the pain we go through allows us to become, and try to be, kind to others"
Everyone looked shocked at what Nagataka had said, it even brought a few tears to a few especially Korosensei.
They turned to Korosensei and they all were shocked. "KOROSENSEI YOUR HEAD'S SWELLING! IT'S COMPLETE SWOLLEN!" Nagisa shouted.
"We'll retaliate" Korosensei said. "For the unreasonable humiliation you received, the powerless would simply accept the situation but…all of you are strong"
"You all have an assassin's power of killing a target without being noticed or leaving proof" Korosensei said. "An eye for an eye, while Nagataka had put fear, pain and humiliation in them they will still come back later"
"So let's give them even more humiliation" Korosensei said. "So much that they will not even think about doing it again unless they want to be further humiliated, struck with fear and unimaginable pain!"
There will be a few original story arcs that involve Nagataka and Nagataka will get his own original arc later on.
