Now onto the story.

Chapter 10

Ned was thinking deeply as he straightened his tie. It was time for the school's Christmas Party/Dance. He was already dressed, wearing neat black trousers and a black shirt along with the tie. The reason he was deep in thought was he was considering his feelings for Cat.

'All this time; I just can't stop thinking about her.' He pondered quietly. 'Well; I can't deny the truth any longer. It's been long enough, perhaps too long. I can't believe Cat's still single.'

Making up his mind he left his room and headed downstairs. He joined his siblings who were all waiting for him. Brandon looked up and grinned.

"About time Ned." He remarked. "Seriously, I thought Lyanna would take the longest getting ready."

Lyanna mock glared at him. "Hey!"

They others just laughed; Ned noted that Brandon was right; all his siblings were dressed for the party. Brandon rather casually in blue jean style trousers and a white shirt with black casual shoes; Benjen was dressed a little more formal in plain black trousers and grey shirt along with black smart shoes like Ned's.

Lyanna meanwhile wore a long white dress with a leather belt and a slit up each side of the skirt to the top of the thigh; showing she was wearing knee high grey stockings. As well as that she was wearing a harp necklace with a dragon shaped brooch on it. Ned just shook his head.

"Sorry about that; shall we get going?"

The others nodded and together they left the house, heading to Brandon's car.

Cat mentally cursed herself; she was worried now she'd be late for the school's Christmas dance. Lysa had wanted her to help her and she agreed; it had resulted in her having to help her sister find her thigh-high dark green stockings to go with the light green mid-thigh length dress she would be wearing, decorated with white details. Lysa was now fully dressed, adding her simple dark green heels and a ring, suspiciously decorated with a mockingbird.

Cat shook her head. 'I can't believe it took me that long; now I have to hurry.'

She was currently in just her light blue underwear; pulling on her darker blue tights; once done she quickly managed to get her light blue knee length, spaghetti strap dress on. She then pulled on her bracelet, decorated with the image of a trout. She quickly checked herself in the mirror; she had no time for make-up or anything like that.

She sighed. 'I wanted to look my best; but now I have to go like this. I, I just wanted to look perfect for Ned. I just hope he…'

She shook her head.

'What am I thinking? Something like make up is so…superficial, especially for trying to impress someone like Ned.' She berated herself. 'I just; I just need to tell him the truth. Who cares what others think about us; so long as we have each other.'

She smiled and, reassured; joined Lysa downstairs, ready as their father prepared to drive them to the school.

The Starks finally arrived at the school and exited the car, heading inside quickly to get out of the cold.

"Here we are." Brandon remarked with a grin.

The others all nodded; Benjen was quickly found by a group of his friends and joined them. The others smiled at this and continued through the hall.

Just then they heard a familiar voice. "Gods, who invited those losers."

They turned and saw Cersei Lannister; smirking at them. Shockingly, despite the cold, she was clad only in a red mid-thigh length dress and golden heels, along with a golden necklace featuring a lion pendant on it. Practically flaunting herself, mainly her long legs and such. Lyanna shook her head.

"Loser; I don't see any mirrors here, do you guys?" She remarked to her brothers.

Cersei glared at that; as did her friends who were with her. Mellara and Jeyne were dressed more sensibly than Cersei. Mellara in a shin length black dress with some orange designs, black tights and black heels, along with a silver spoon pendant, Jeyne in a grey knee length pencil skirt and a blue long-sleeved top and black tights, with black flats, wearing a brooch in the shape of a boat.

Cersei snarled. "What'd you say, slut?"

Lyanna quirked an eyebrow. "Me, slut, again, check a mirror, I'm not the one spilling out of my dress."

Cersei started to make her way towards Lyanna but was stopped by a young man.

Cersei turned to glare at the man, before she softened. The man was the same age as her, with the same blonde hair and green eyes. He was clad in white trousers and a matching shirt with black smart shoes and a discreet golden curb bracelet. It was Cersei's twin brother, Jaime.

"Cersei…" He warned. "Don't start."

Cersei looked torn between wanting to argue, yet seeming to agree with him. Lyanna merely rolled her eyes and left, along with Brandon and Ned.

Brandon smirked. "Nicely done Lyanna; I see you've finally learned."

Lyanna merely shrugged and then pointed out. "Pay attention Brandon; there she is."

Brandon looked up and smiled when he spotted Ashara approaching them. She was dressed up in a rather elegant dark orange long dress with matching flats. Brandon walked up to her. Ned couldn't help but smile; it hadn't actually been that long since Brandon and Ashara got together; despite his and Cat's break up happening months ago.

It was then he realized that Lyanna had also left, although he had no idea where too. He looked around and then smiled when he finally spotted Cat. She had arrived with her sister; both of them looking happy. His heart began to beat faster. He decided to no longer delay, now was the time.

He began to approach them; shortly before he arrived he saw Lysa whisper something to Cat before moving away. Cat was shaking her head, looking exasperated.

"Cat." He said as he approached.

She turned, smiling widely when she saw him. "Ned; it's good to see you, I'm glad you made it."

He smiled back before finally speaking. "Um, I was wondering if I could talk to you in private for a minute."

She tensed briefly; suddenly curious and wondering if he was about to say what she hoped. She nodded. "Sure, let's go."

She followed him as they moved away from the hall, where already there were couples dancing, people gathered with plates of food and various other people milling around. They soon found a quiet place and Ned turned to her. He smiled as he fully noticed her outfit.

"You look really nice tonight." He said truthfully."

She blushed. "Thanks, I um…"

He took a deep breath. "Cat I um; this is important, I've…Lately I…"

Cat's eyes widened as she noticed his expression and realized exactly what he meant.

"Ned, do you…do you love me?"

He froze before blushing and slowly nodding; finally admitting the truth. "Yes."

Cat smiled and stepped closer; wrapping her arms around him. "I love you too."

Ned smiled and finally, they started their relationship, kissing deeply.
