For the next week Sandy nursed Jack back to health, doting on him and sometimes driving him insane. Jack was used to living alone so it took some adjusting for him to accept Sandy's constant help. The one thing he couldn't get enough of was the constant love pouring off of the little blonde man. It made him feel warm and happy and even though he was injured, his face was always happy and sporting a healthy smile. But that wasn't originally the case.
The first night Sandy had presumed Jack wanted to sleep alone so he had tucked him in, kissed him goodnight and walked back to his bedroom reluctantly. Their relationship was still in its fledgling stage and even though his instincts told him to stay with Jack, his uncertainty won out and he fell asleep alone, dreams of Jack putting a sleepy smile on his face.
The object of his dreams was, however, not so lucky. It was the first night after the attack that Jack was actually sleeping and not knocked out. Therefore, he was able to dream. But instead of the happy thoughts that graced his golden-haired companion, nightmares had wormed their way into his head.

Jack was running blindly, his body cold and weak, surrounded by black snow that almost exuded evil and choked his senses. The blizzard he was running from caught him in an instant and he was thrown around, bashing into walls of black ice. A sinister laugh pierced the howl of the wind and Jacks blood turned to ice.
Pitch.
Pitch rose from the shadows and circled him as he cackled. He towered over Jack and grew until he was As tall as a skyscraper. The shadows formed a dark arrow and he took aim at Jack. Jack tried to run but he was held fast by the chains that had appeared from the roiling, living black snow. He screamed as the arrow shot towards him and pierced his heart, impaling him as he was consumed by darkness and fear.

Sandy jerked awake as Jack's blood-curdling scream echoed through the halls. He leapt out of bed and sprinted faster han he ever had to Jack's room. When he burst in, Jack was thrashing on the bed and sobbing as he held his chest. Sandy hurried over and gently woke him. His eyes snapped open and he looked around wildly, panting.
Sandy held him close and hushed him. He laid him back down on the bed, his head cradled to his tanned chest. Jack's tears were wet against his chest and he stroked his white-blonde hair soothingly. Finally he calmed down and looked up blearily at him.
"Sandy." he whimpered. Sandy kissed his forehead and held him for the rest of the night and for every following night of winter break, chasing away the nightmares.

One day Sandy caught Jack gazing longingly out at the frozen expanse of lake surrounding his island. Taking pity on him, Sandy dressed warmly in a golden sweater, jeans and a golden winter coat, complete with gold gloves. He walked into jack's room and gave him his new winter outfit that he had bought. He blushed as Jack excitedly began undressing and he glimpsed his pale muscled chest in all of its glory. He slapped his hands over his eyes and his heart pounded in his chest as he tried not to imagine what else his boyfriend was hiding under his clothes. Wait. Boyfriend? Sandys heart fluttered and he cautiously peeked through his fingers. What he saw would be ingrained in his brain forever. Jack was standing in his black silk boxers, his pale skin bare except for his underwear. His lean muscles flexed as he slid into his jeans and put on the skin tight white sweater. Disappointed that he had lost his view Sandy uncovered his eyes as jack zipped up his blue winter coat. He slid on black boots and excitedly followed Sandy into the perfectly white snow.
They were constructing a snowman when the others finally arrived. The three teachers watched the cute moment as they finished the snowman and leaned in for a kiss. Bunny saw his opportunity and rolled a snowball, nailing Sandy in the face and knocking him onto his back before he could kiss Jack. Jack turned to wear Bunny was laughing loudly and began launching snowballs, trying to defend Sandy's honor. His aim was true and he nailed the big three as they dove for cover behind the car and Sandy and Jack hid behind the snowman, grinning like idiots. The snowball fight continued until North captured Sandy and held him in his snow fort. Jack snuck around behind the fort and pelted North with snowballs until he was forced to release Sandy in order to protect his face. Sandy ran as fast as he could to Jack who swept him into a hug and a playful kiss both of which made his grin widen.

Soon after, Tooth took them all down in a flurry on snowballs. She stood on the hill victoriuos while they stared in shock before bursting out laughing. She glared at them and told them to be serious but her puffy coat only made her look like an angry blue and green marshmallow. North eventually calmed her down and they left one by one. Eventually it was just Jack and Sandy sitting on the porch steps looking out at the frozen expanse of water.
Jack had been staring at the ice for awhile before he gasped and turned to Sandy.

"Let's go ice skating!" He grinned.

Sandy blushed and his hands fumbled nervously, trying to form excuses, all of which Jack didn't believe. After some pushing he finally revealed the truth.
'I don't know how.' He signed then looked down. He looked up just as Jack got up silently and disappeared into the house. Thinking he had been rejected he looked down sadly and held back tears.

A few seconds later that was how Jack found him.

"Hey hey hey." He pulled him close, "there's no need to cry. Ill show you how." He held up two pairs of skates and smiled encouragingly.

Relieved, Sandy put on the skates and clung to jack as he clumsily made it to to the ice. Jack tested the thickness of the ice, and once satisfied, stepped onto it.

As if he was coming home, he relaxed and glided around while Sandy watched in awe. He picked up speed and did a few simple jumps and spins before he broke out the good stuff. He jumped into the air, spinning like a tornado. Sandy was gaping as Jack came over to fetch him. He reluctanly clasped Jacks hand and followed his instructions as he moved along with his partner's feet.
When he felt a bit more confident Jack released him and he nervously skated around in a circle. He smiled when he realized that he got it and began to skate to Jack. His eyes suddenly widened comically as he neared Jack and realized that he didn't know how to stop. They slammed into each other full-speed and Jack hit the ice with Sandy on top of him. He groaned a little in pain but chuckled.

"Good Job Sandy." He chuckled and helped him to his feet, pulling him around the ice and smiling hugely at him guiding him gently and making him focus.
Sandy's golden eyes shone bright with happiness as his mouth opened into a wide grin. Jack would never forget that look.

He suddenly got a chill down his spine but ignored it in favor of keeping Sandy happy.

That forboding feeling were the eyes of his nightmare, Pitch Black.

As he watched through the foliage of the dense trees he cursed the happiness of his rival and vowed to take it away any way possible. His thin pale lips curled into a dark sadistic smile as he chuckled softly in self satisfaction, a plan forming in his dark mind.

"You're mine Sanderson." He whispered as he stalked away, his black coat billowing in the wind as the air got colder in a sinister way, driving the two lovers into the castle. Storm clouds roiled and lightning accompanied the boom of the thunder.

A storm was coming.

Fast.
