A/N: wow, can we just say it's been awhile? Well nothing to really say except hope you enjoy this and hopefully I'll keep getting these random bursts of inspiration. Maybe not a two year delay but we'll see. :)

Mary-Louise P.O.V

After getting the latest phone (which did look nice), Eleanor was adamant she takes a picture to commemorate the event. Rolling my eyes at her antics, I was caught off guard when she put her arm around my shoulders and placed her cheeks next to mine; smiling brightly, eyes crinkled at the edges while my eyes were widened in surprise. Despite being caught off guard, and my reluctance, the photo did come out very nice. Not that I am going to tell her that.

Elle as she wished to be called, proceeded to teach me all the gestures that I needed to know to use the phone. All this swiping up, side to side was kind of confusing but I finally learned the basics; unlock the phone, add contacts (not that I had any friends) call and message (again no friends). Elle then started downloading all these apps and creating accounts for them. I explained to her that there was no need for that since they were not going to be used. She shushed me and told me that it's ok, we have to create my "brand" and that sooner or later people were going to start following me , mainly since my brooding was hot (according to her) and people love the dark people with a kind heart.

I also am the proud and confused owner of the email mlouise2 . Along with that email you now have approximately 100 photos of buildings, flowers, Elle making different faces, and even some of myself. I need to learn how to delete all of those.

After the crash course I received, she told me she wanted to take me somewhere else. Not really given a chance to decline, she hooked her arm around mine and proceeded to walk. We walked in a comfortable silence until we came to a stop at some corner. Unhooking her arm, she then moved to make a 'ta-da' motion to the storefront. I looked up and saw a figure of a pig with a chef's hat along with the name 'The Piggy.' Confused as to why she would bring me to a restaurant Elle just told me to trust her and then proceeded to enter. Entering the place, it was very casual looking. Elle told me to grab a seat and that she was going to get the food.

About five minutes later, she comes back with two trays of food. This girl doesn't understand that we didn't need to eat all of this.

As if reading my thoughts, she said, "I know we don't have to eat all like a full meal but I thought that this could be fun, young people do this all the time. They go out with their friends and eat, besides this place has the best banana cream pie. It's to die for." At that last line, she made a gun using her fingers, pointed at me while winking and clicking her tongue. What an idiot.

"So hilarious."

Separating the meats and the sides we began to eat. I was overwhelmed by the flavors, not tasting anything like this before that a little moan of pleasure escaped me. Hearing this, Eleanor smiled, the sauce surrounding her mouth making her look childlike.

"Must you eat like that? There's sauce all over your face."

"Duh, part of the experience is the mess. The sauce all over your mouth, the sticky fingers, even the pieces of meat that get stuck between your teeth."

"That sounds disgusting."

"Well, you marked two of the three, so you're good."

Quickly, I let go of the rib, grabbed a napkin and began rubbing it all over my mouth area, removing all the sauce that might have been there. She clapped and laughed at my reaction.

"I promise you that before we leave, you will look spotless."

"I better. Can't go around town looking like a, um, pig."

"All right, all right."

We continued eating while having small interjections of conversations. She stated that she was pleased that we can now communicate and that she won't be bored.

"How long have you been here anyway?" I curiously asked. I was actually quite surprised that she hadn't run into anyone else. Not like Mystic Falls was huge. Sure there were some excellent hiding spots, but you were bound to run into someone.

"Just a few months. I was traveling across the U.S. doing random jobs here and there, but mostly I just did it for the travel."

"Is it nice?" I was genuinely curious as to how the rest of the world might look like, after so many years of being locked up.

"Oh, it's so amazing. My favorite place definitely was New York City. All the lights, the people. It truly was the city that never sleeps. I would be out doing whatever I wanted, and not a single person cared."

"That must be nice, not having anyone judge you for being you."

"Yes! That was the greatest part. I also really liked living remotely in a cabin in North Caroline. It was so peaceful. How I wish I can go back again."

"I mean, you still can."

"You're right, but I don't know, this place was just calling me and now look, I found you."

"And for that, I am glad because I would be so lost and honestly I've been feeling tired about not being up to speed with everything."

"Why's that though? Shouldn't you have been like up to speed with all these advancements."

I stared at the now empty plate after that question. She obviously doesn't know what happened. How do I explain to her that I was imprisoned for over a century? That everything that I knew stripped away, now having to catch up on such basic things.

"No, I don't really feel like talking about that part of my life."

"Yeah, no, that's fine. Our past is definitely something we discuss on dark, gloomy days, definitely not on our first outing."

Glad that we got past that, Elle then started making a list of all the things we needed to do to catch up with the world. First, was to catch up on all the media I missed.

"We definitely have to watch all the best of the best. Can you believe that there's this movie in which the vampires' sparkle?"

"That's just stupid." How absurd, what kind of idiot thinks of that.

"Well there is, and we definitely have to watch it."

"If I must."

"You must."

We left the restaurant and started walking again to the park. Reaching the park, we came to a halt.

"I really wanted to thank you for today. It's been a while since I've had fun. Usually, it's just me complaining about these stupid humans."

"Aww, Mary-Louise that's so nice of you."

"Yes, don't get used to it though," I said with a smile that implied I was joking around. Elle smiled brightly and brought me in for a hug. Her arms around my neck, squeezing me tightly, while my arms were merely just dangling on my side. She released and stepped back.

"We're going to have to work on that"

"You caught me off guard."

"Hmm sure," she said squinting her eyes.

"Well-then good-bye."

I turned around and began walking to the house. I turn my head to look back at her when I hear her yell

"We'll work on your good-byes too."

I simply roll my eyes and continue forward.

Entering the house, silence welcomes me. I mean what can expect when I live with a mute. Heading towards my room, I hear drawers being opened and closed. I slowly open my door and there I see Nora.

Her back is towards me as she's ruffling through the drawers, taking out clothes and throwing them on the bed.

The door creaks and she turns around, surprise in her eyes when she notices me.

"Hello," I say with a hand wave. I honestly am an idiot.
