Chapter 10: Frontal Assault

Blaze, Tangle and the others arrived at the location of Eggman's abandoned base looking over what remained of the doctor's last battle.

Whisper stood there as she looks down at the pendent running her thumb along a noticeable indent in it.

Silver places his hand on Whisper's shoulder. "Don't worry, Whisper. It won't happen again."

The wolf smiles at the hedgehog. "I know."

Sonic whistles at the damages he noticed. "…and I thought I caused a lot of damage to Eggman's stuff."

Knuckles nudges the blue blur a bit. "Please, I could do a lot worse than you could."

Amy cuts through them with her hammer. "Boys, you're both handsome. Can we focus on why we're here?"

"Nothing wrong with having a little fun with your line of work, Amy." Tangle said this as she stretches.

Blaze looks at Marine. "You ready for this?"

Marine nods. "You know it. Let's smack that duck's bill backwards."

"Alright, everyone. Onward." The feline charges forward with everyone following close behind her.

Marine goes to follow them only to be stopped by someone. She looks to see the cloaked figure that had been following them and readies a flame in her hand. "Who are you?"

He reaches for the hood of the cloak pulling it down in front of her to her surprise.

"You?"

Back with the group, they made their way through the wreckage of the base running into a few robots taking out any that crossed their path. Soon enough they found themselves in the heart of the base in front of the two skunks.

"You found your way…"

"…with just a stumble."

"Feast your eyes on Rough and Tumble!"

Sonic and Knuckles laugh at their little banter.

Rough growls at them. "Every time, Rough. They always laugh!"

Tumble pats his back. "They won't be laughing for long."

Sonic looks at their wispons. "Didn't you two learn that those little guys won't listen to you?"

Rough just fires a pink spike at him in response.

"Woah!" He jumps out of the way.

Whisper looks in horror. "That weapon…" She clutches her own wispon.

Knuckles leaps at Tumble only to be blasted with a red burst.

Amy swoops in slamming her hammer into his gut.

Tangle grabs the weapon with her tail trying to take it from him. "Where'd you get these?"

Silver was deflecting lasers from Rough. "Starline must've reverse engineered Whisper's wispon."

Sonic runs over and trips Rough. "How are they using them without wisps?"

Blaze grabs Rough's wispon listening. "They're trapped inside. They can't escape."

Whisper runs over and drives her blue hammer down on the wispon cracking it some.

Rough then blasts the area with his musk and retrieves his weapon. "Nice try. You think one crack can help you?" He pulls the trigger only for nothing to happen. "Hey! Why isn't it working?"

The musk clears revealing a few angry wisps.

"Uh oh." He runs off as the wisps chase him. "Tumble! Help me!"

"Having trouble here myself!" Tumble then loses grip of his weapon to Tangle who turns it against him. "Look, don't hurt me."

"I won't." The lemur then smashes the wispon to pieces. "They will though."

The wisps then bumbard Tumble chasing him off along with his brother.

"This isn't the last you've seen of us!"

"We'll be back!"

The skunk brothers ran off with the wisps close behind them.

Amy plants her hammer on the ground leaning against it. "Well that takes care of Starline's little helpers."

Tangle claps her hands together. "Now all that's left is Starline himself and Metal Blaze."

Blaze looks up at the tower in the middle of the base. "My guess is that he's hold up in…" The feline is interrupted by a warp sucking her in.

"Blaze!?"

Silver runs over to her. "Where'd she go?"

Whisper looks up at the top of the tower. "Up there."

They group look up at the tower knowing exactly where their feline friend was taken to.
