Why did I update so fast? Well, today's the last of November. This fic is not a GaaHina! Gaaaara is mineee. Just had to get that off of my chest. This fic will be extremely long...There's just so much to do, so much to add...Aggghhhhhhhhhhhhh! Sucks that some people are unfollowing. Hope this chapter clears things up for you guys! Lol ten chaps and you guys still don't know their ages, my bad. They're in their late teens or early twenties.^_^ Enjoy, and review...Please.
"On my eleventh birthday, I began to see them. That was the right of passage in my clan- If you could not see them, you were still considered a child. We praised and worshipped them, and we brought them peace. They, in turn, gave us tomorrow. People feared us all over the land, and that was to be expected. We saw and heard things they did not, we knew their darkest secrets.
"We had grown arrogant over the years, and men...men had become paranoid, tightly wound, ready to spring and pounce at the slightest quiver.
We gave them an earthquake.
"Those tremors cost us our lives. My clan...My family was brutally massacred on a moonless night like this one. We thought that the spirits would have told us, that the universe would have given us signs, " she clucked her teeth, " nothing. The spirits, the souls, I watched them. I watched as they fled mangled, maimed distorted bodies. It was the first time I had seen anything like it, felt anything like it. I witnessed my mother's soul depart... Foolish child I was, I thought she was running away from me...And that was only three years ago.
"Within a week, anyone who had any ties with anybody from our clan was executed. They wanted to get rid of our traits, rid the universe of Hyuuga. So they burned and drowned children, hung and butchered young men and women, all because somewhere down their ancestral line someone fucked one of us...'We cannot chance men and women who hold this curse coming together. We cannot chance the reproduction of more devils.' - and so they put them to the torch."
She looked to him with sad eyes, "You, however, were a bit more fortunate, born in a foreign land and all...Or maybe you weren't fortunate at all. Here you are, an exile, drinking tea and shunning the world. Maybe it would have been kinder to grant you death. Do you ever wish to die, Gaara?"
He smirked lightly and looked at the stars. "I would be lying if I said that sometimes the idea was anything less of comely."
"Yet here you are."
"I have things to do, people to kill."
"You were hiding in a forest."
"I was simply waiting."
"For what?"
"For you."
She swatted away a few bugs then stared at him, smirking herself. "I thought I was not supposed to be there."
"You weren't. I was actually expecting your death."
"Do enlighten me on your plan."
"It would ruin the surprise...Tell me more?"
"Do you not already know?"
"Spirits lie."
"Well...I ran to a place where people were less afraid, or were not afraid at all. I ran until I was nearly run over by a man on a black horse. I ran until I met Itachi."
