The long awaited new chapter! Sorry for not updating in so long, but I'm running out of ideas. If you have any, please tell me through review or PM! I do not own Fairy Tail or One Piece. Enjoy! :)
"I feel pathetic," Nami stated the following morning.
Lucy laughed, bringing her best friend an ice pack. "Well, it can't be helped. We both landed in an unexpected situation."
"The fight was so bad compared to last time," Nami pointed out. "Worse, we had to make truces!"
Lucy shrugged. "It is as it is. Let's just move on."
"I kissed him," Nami said suddenly.
Lucy blinked at her. "Was it an accident?" The orange haired girl nodded. The blonde smiled. "Then that's fine because I kissed the boy with me as well by accident."
"I don't know why, but I feel guilty for doing so," Nami lean back on the couch.
Lucy smiled. "You were thinking of someone else?"
"Weren't you?"
Lucy shrugged. "Perhaps. What's ironic is that we offered each other advice on what to do in a fight with someone."
"Really? That happened to me too," Nami blinked in surprise.
"Strange, isn't it?"
"The world is always that way."
"Alright! Settle down, everyone!" Marco raised his voice to be heard over the chattering of the high schoolers (A/N: I decided to stop calling him by the lame last name I gave him.)
The class quickly went to their seats and settled down; some already knowing what was going to happen.
"Halloween is almost upon us and like always, Hanabi Academy will host a festival. Of course, there will be the ball for the finish," Marco announced. Cheers came from the class and he waited until they quiet down to continue. "Each class has to come up with an event to raise money for the school."
"Sensei," a girl raised her hand. "What will our event be?"
"Whatever you want. It must be school appropriate though. The class must vote on an idea given out in order for it to be decided."
As the class talked excitedly about their ideas, Nami looked over at Vivi. "Hey, what kind of events do they usually have?"
Vivi paused for a moment, thinking. "Well, the most common idea is the haunted house. But people also create charms to drive away ghosts and sell different kinds of foods as well."
"Mhm, that sounds fun," Nami mused.
Vivi smiled. "It is. We all do our best to have fun with the children mostly because they will come dressed in their costumes."
"So something little kids could enjoy would be good?" Nami suggested. Vivi nodded.
"What should we do? Any ideas, Lu-chan?" Levy asked the blonde.
Lucy thought about that. "Well, when I was a child, I loved to dress up and make jack-o-lanterns. Maybe a pumpkin carving event?"
"That's a good idea," Juvia agreed. "But I don't think parents would allow their kids to use a knife."
"The kids could draw the face and the parents could carve it," Cana suggested.
"Maybe a test of courage could be good," Lisanna piped up. "It would be a hit with couples."
"Hey, that's a good idea," Lucy smiled. "We could have people stationed all around; just waiting to scare the next people."
Lisanna nodded. "And if we have time, we might be able to go in ourselves." By saying this, she turned slightly in Natsu's direction. Lucy noticed and stayed silent.
Squeals were heard, making Nami and Lucy turned towards the direction of a crowd of girls surrounding Luffy and Natsu. "Hey! Hey! What do you think we should do?"
"So annoying," the boys muttered. They spoke up. "We'll have a treasure hunt!"
The class blinked in surprise, waiting for them to continue. And they did. "We could have people go around dressed in certain outfits. There will only be five of those people who carry a stamp. Once you get all five stamps, you have to go back and get your prize."
"What a great idea!" Nami piped up, making the others turn to look at her now. "It would be great for people of all ages. Plus, children love treasure hunts and it would give them a chance to look around the school."
"Oh!" Lucy spoke up. "We could set the deadline to a time before the ball. Also, the whole school is the treasure area. We could do prizes for first, second and third place, but we should also give a small prize for all those who participated."
"You get us!" The boys grinned at them, causing the girls to blush and look down. The fight was still going on after all.
"All in favor of a treasure hunt?" Marco asked the class. All hands went up and he smiled. "Alright. Then I'll tell them Class 11-A is doing a treasure hunt." The class cheered, smiles everywhere. "I want Natsu and Luffy to be in charge since you have an idea on where this is going."
The boys looked at each other, shrugging. "Whatever. We'll do it." The class laughed at their actions and cheered.
"Hey, maybe we could win for best event!" A boy said.
"Yes! It would be great if we did!" A girl nodded.
This just sent the class in another roar of cheer. The two thieves looked at each other, sweat-dropping. This class really loves to cheer. But they smile nevertheless for it was still a fun class.
"Wait a second," Gray suddenly spoke up, making everybody look at him. He looked at all of them, as if they were all idiots. He jerk his head over to Natsu and Luffy. "Can we really leave our event to those guys? If you haven't forgotten, they're idiots."
1...2...3... "WE FORGOT!"
"Oi, that's insulting!" Natsu and Luffy growled.
"That's true though! It's not a lie," Usopp reminded them.
"Hearing that from you doesn't make it better," Luffy sighed.
"You have to be a man to accept the truth!" Elfman shouted.
"We hear ya," Natsu looked annoyed.
"If we need more responsible leaders," Levy began, causing the two cops to glare at her angrily, "wouldn't these two be good?" She grabbed two girls' hands and pushed them towards the boys.
The push was more forceful than expected, making the girls fall on top of the boys. To say the least, it could also go off as an awkward situation. Of course, only the girls knew what was going on and blushing like crazy.
"Lucy," Natsu looked at the blonde, who blinked in surprise.
"Nami," Luffy blinked at the orange haired girl, whose mouth opened slightly in the shape of a perfect O.
The girls looked at each other, before quickly getting off the boys and leaping to their feet. "We can't do it!" And with that, they ran out of the classroom.
There was a shock of silence and surprise. And then every single student of class 11-A ran out the door aside from the two boys still on the floor with determination to catch their leaders. Heck, they even pulled out nets and rope as well. The girls ran away, screaming at their pursing classmates. Marco was out the door as well, yelling for them to not disturb the other classes.
"They hate us, huh?"
"Lu-chan! You have to be our leader!" Levy protested.
"Even if you say that…" Lucy mumbled, sweat-dropped.
The Fairy Tail group plus Lucy but minus Natsu were having lunch together. Since the weather had gotten cold, they decided to eat inside the school today.
"Why not? I think it's a good idea," Juvia pointed out.
"Nobody objected to the suggestion," Cana informed them.
"It seems you guys are having some problems," Erza noted. She smiled. "It's better for a school festival to have everyone working together."
"That's right," Mirajane agreed, smiling. "All of you have to be happy with one another in order to attract the attention of your audience."
"Happy, huh?" Lucy said quietly. She offered them a weak smile. "That's a hard thing to be nowadays."
The group fell silent, having gotten the reminder of what was going on. They didn't think it would go on this long; it did seem like a childish fight on the outside. Perhaps something happened that was deeper; something that they couldn't see?
"The ball…" Juvia spoke, breaking all of them out of their thoughts. They looked at her. Juvia smiled. "Lucy, you need a partner, right?"
"Ball?" Lucy blinked in surprise.
"Don't tell me you don't know what a ball is!" Cana sighed.
"I do!" Lucy protest. "But what happens at this ball?"
"We dress up," Levy informed her. "We change out of our event outfits before the ball begins and show up in our Halloween costumes. Of course, the ball would be a usual ball aside from that."
"People can dress up in whatever outfit they want. You have to be a man to dress up!" Elfman roared.
"It's also a chance for people to get together," Mira suddenly had a very big smile on her face, making the others try hard not to think about their love lives. "Why, a kiss on Halloween night is full of mystery and romance, after all."
"M-Mira-san-! Is that s-so?" Lucy sputtered, already preparing for the worst.
"Fufufu, this Halloween will surely be interesting, ne?" Mira smiled. They all backed away from her, hoping for the worst.
"Nami! You have to take part in leadership!" Usopp announced.
"That doesn't make me want to," Nami informed him.
The One Piece group plus Nami but minus Luffy were having lunch in the school's lunch room for once. The weather had gotten a tad cold today so they stayed inside because they didn't want to be sick before the event.
"Why won't you, Nami-san?" Vivi asked, looking worried.
Nami looked away. "It's not like I don't want to. There are other issues."
"There shouldn't be a problem, right?" Kaya spoke up. "It sounds like everybody supported the idea of it."
"Hmm, we have our event as well," Robin mused. "If you're going to be in the festival, shouldn't you do your best?"
"For yourself and everybody else as well," Sanji said. "Of course, that means me too Nami-swan!"
"Moron cook," Zoro muttered.
"THAT'S IT GREENBEAN! YOU KEEP SAYING THE SAME THING!" Sanji shouted. "Have you no shame?!"
"What did you say?!"
"Oi, oi, Sanji, are you really judging others on the lack of shame?" Usopp muttered.
Chopper nodded in agreement. "He talks about women every day!"
"Anyway, isn't it better to solve your problems by working together?" Robin smiled at Nami. "It might help."
The other members of the group fell silent, remembering why the orange haired girl seemed down lately. On the outside, it was like any childish fight among children. Seriously, they didn't think it would go on for this long. It was a shock, but they couldn't help wondering if there was a deeper meaning to all of this.
"I suppose," Nami said, uncertain.
"Besides, you need someone for the ball, right?" Kaya pointed out.
"Well…"
"We get to dress up in costumes so it would be fun!" Vivi smiled. "It wouldn't be right if you weren't there as well."
"If she needs a partner, I'll gladly-!" Sanji was about to begin his flowery speech before Zoro shoved him away.
"Nobody needs you," Zoro stated. And that just began a cloud of arms and legs with angry faces once more…
"They say romance can bloom everywhere," Robin said out of the blue.
"You say that but…" Nami sweat-drop, and then sighed.
"Nami!"
"Lucy!"
The two best friends hugged each other tightly, both looking like they're about to cry. "I was being tortured!"
"I miss you!" Lucy cried.
"Me too!" Nami cried.
"Let's never be apart in that scary moment again!"
After a moment, they looked at each other. They suddenly started laughing as they held each other tightly. The two sat down on the stairs, holding each other hands.
"Ne, Nami?" Lucy began.
"What is it?"
"When was it when we started to say we didn't want to fall in love?"
Nami smiled sadly. "I don't remember exactly, but it was after a friend of ours got her heart broken by the boy she liked."
"I remember now," Lucy said. "She was our dear friend and we did everything we could to help her."
"In the end, our efforts were meaningless. Our friend was so broken hearted, she was never the same afterwards."
Lucy let out a bitter laugh. "What was worse, she blamed us for not letting her have the love life she wanted. For putting our noses into her business. Our friend was no longer our 'friend' and we were always alone ever since."
Nami nodded. "Ever since then, we told ourselves we would never fall in love. We would never be broken by someone like that."
"But you know, Nami," Lucy began softly, her grip tightening, "I think I may break that oath one day."
"I think I will too," Nami agreed, small tears forming. "It used to always be the two of us; we never let anyone into our circle."
Lucy smiled, a tear sliding down her cheek. "We were always two, and everybody else never saw who we really were. Sure, they crowed us but they never took the time to actually talk to us."
"They all considered us to be out of their league and nobody talked to us," Nami said, tears coming down her face. "To them, we were just two people who they couldn't trust enough to treat as equals."
"But that night at the harvest festival," Lucy's smile warmed, her eyes watering. "It was probably the best night of my life. He was strange, but I liked being around him."
Nami laughed through her tears. "I was surprised at how dense he was, but I couldn't help but laugh anyway."
"I don't think it's 100% yet," Lucy smiled, "but I hope it will be."
"If we're going to do it, we should do our best, right?" Nami smiled.
"Fight!"
And here you have it! Again, it might be a while before the next chapter since I'm out of ideas, but I hope you can help. Review! :)
