Fame & Fortune 3: Expect The Unexpected
Chapter 10: The Ex-Factor
Nonny had never been so happy. "I can't believe what I am seeing."
He was going through the internet on his computer where he sees the news about the novel he wrote himself called It Happens During A Full Moon. His phone soon rang and he sees it was his new friend Julia. "Hey Julia."
"Hey Nonny. I read the news about your novel. Congratulations."
"Thank you. It wasn't easy writing it. But I am so glad I pulled it off."
It Happens During a Full Moon is mixture of romance, fantasy and suspense. The novel focuses on 16-year-old Emily Barker who became friends with a classmate of hers after he rescued her from a group of muggers. But as Emily began to feel a personal connection, she'll soon learn that her friend is holding a secret that may link him to several different murders every month during a full moon.
Despite a little controversial Nonny had by writing the book, it didn't stop it from selling up to 20,000 copies in the first 24 hours. Soon afterwards, it seems that the books were literally flying off the shelves and in just two months from its released, it was already a New York Bestseller. "looks like I do have a career as an author," the male said to Julia who was on the other line feeding her son Austin. "I even have this idea for another novel. It's a sci-fi."
"Cool. Okay, Nonny. I'm gonna call you back."
"Okay."
After Nonny got off the phone, there was a knock on his door. He walked up and see that it was Gil, Molly and Lil William at the door.
"Hello."
"Hey Nonny," the wife said to her friend before stepping inside.
The son gave his ginger godfather a hi-five before running into the living room. Gil was the last one to step inside the condo. He was also carrying a champagne bottle in his hand. "Hey Nonny. Congrats, man. I've heard the news. So I thought I would brought something."
"Thank you guys. I'm actually writing another book. It's a sci-fi."
The three friends sat down on the sofas after Nonny grabbed three glasses. William on the other hand was playing in one spot of the room filled with toys and a small table with coloring books on top. They opened up the bottle and poured the bubbly liquid in the three glasses. After minutes of drinking, talking and sharing a few laughs, the married couple were now getting ready to tell something to Nonny that was very important. But they don't know how he'll react exactly. "So what else you want to tell me?"
Gil just looked at his wife. "It's about Oona."
"What? I already knew she moved back to Frankfort. Deema told me."
"Actually…" Molly started off. "…Oona moved back down here."
"She did? Well where is she?"
…
"WHAT?!" Nonny was baffled. This can't be the Oona he knows all too well. "Are you guys sure we're talking about our Oona?"
"We were shocked at this too," the blue headed friend responded. "But yeah. Oona has a daughter with Avi."
Nonny stood up and started walking through the living room. "I'm just…trying to piece together this here. This can't be Oona. She knows that boy has on her like a cop at a crack house."
"A cop at a crack house?" Gil snickered.
"Sorry. I went to Goby's charity event down in Miami with him."
"Anyway, we talked to Avi and he said that he was sorry and that he just felt like he needed to tell Oona his feelings."
"And you can't get mad at them," Gil added. "You two broke up so she have every right to go out with him."
The ginger head was still not convince about Avi. But she wasn't the only one who had moved on after a break up. "Yeah. That is true. Well if she's happy with her new relationship, then I'm happy for her. But I still want to talk to her."
"Well she got a new number. How about we just gave it to you and you can call her?"
"Okay."
Nonny pulled out his phone and handed it to Molly. The last time the ginger last heard from the pigtailed female was a whole year ago and he was so surprised on that the same girl he grew up with has changed a lot. Molly soon handed the phone back to him. He looked down on the screen on his phone and see the seven-digit number right before him. After a moment of silence, his right thumb pressed the small green button that said "call" and put the phone up in his ear.
For a good 10 seconds, the phone kept ringing. But after while, a lady's voice can be heard on the other line. "Hey Oona," Nonny went. "You busy? Me too. Hey, when you get the time, can we meet up for old times sake? I wanna talked to you. Please?" A smile was planted on the ginger's face. "Thanks. I miss you too."
…
Two-year-old Aubrey was laying on top of a couch. She is giggling her curly hair off as her daddy was constantly blowing and tickling her stomach. Goby soon picked the child up and planted a kiss on her chee causing the daughter to smile. "How's my little princess doing?" he asked her. "You having fun with daddy?"
"Yeah," Aubrey answered. Her older half-sister May walked by in front of her.
"Wanna play with your sister?"
"Yeah."
"May, you wanna play doll with your sister?"
"Okay," May answered. The older half-sister picked up Aubrey and gently lay her down on a blanket that was spread on the floor with multiple dolls with colorful hairs laying all around on top of it. Andre came by on his toy dump truck that once was Goby's before he gave it to his only son. Deema and Uncle Dustin was sitting in the kitchen cooking while watching the children play together with their father.
"I'm the princess," May said putting on her crown that Goby bought for her on her birthday. "You can be my knight, daddy."
"I'm the knight?" Goby asked playing along.
"Yeah."
"What can I be?" Aubrey asked. "We both can be princesses."
"Am I the prince?" Andre asked.
"No. You're our royal fool," May answered.
"I don't wanna be the royal fool," Andre protested. "I wanna be the race car driver."
Deema and Dustin laughed at the small group playing with each other. "It feels so good seeing them play with one another," the mother said. Seconds later, Goby was gone. But he eventually came back in the room with Natalie right beside him, much to Deema's domain.
"You know, every time I see May, I'm thinking myself 'there's no way she looks like Goby'," Dustin said.
But Deema just try to shake it off. "Oh I'm not worried about that," she lied through her teeth.
"Come on sis. Do you actually think that little girl is his?"
"Keep your voice down. I mean May is a nice girl and Goby said they had a DNA test done."
Dustin sucked his teeth. "Natalie staged that test. You know that girl is thirsty for Goby since day one. She'll do anything to keep him."
"So you're saying Natalie is a hoe?"
"I'm saying that Goby is not May's father."
"And how do you know that?"
Dustin shifted his head over back at the living room. Deema watched as Natalie was draping her body all over on her baby's father. She even planted a soft kiss on his cheek. This shouldn't concern the blonde headed girl, but she and Goby have been sleeping with each other for a whole week now and even try to work their relationship out for the sake of the twins. But despite all this, she knew that she still need some solid evidence. "Okay. That still don't convince me."
"Take a look again."
Natalie soon laid on top of the lower part of Goby's body as she was playing with the kids. To make things even more convincing, the male was stroking her black straight hair. Anger, hurt and betrayal was flowing in Deema's bloodstream. Is she really going to have to deal with this again? Is Goby playing her like an instrument? And is Natalie really using May to get with him? All this was just too much. But of course, she was getting over dramatic…like always.
"Okay," she said to her brother. "But let's keep this between you and me. I don't want anyone else to know."
"I got it. Listen. I got a friend who runs a paternity clinic just on the other side of town. I'll have her get the DNA test ready. All you need to do is give me some DNA swabs of Goby and May."
"Okay. I really do hope that May is hers."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Because if this test says something different, there's gonna be hell to pay."
"Me too."
"I mean you've got to be real low to use a child to get with somebody."
"I can't imagine that. I just can't."
Speaking of which, the kids and their father came in the kitchen after smelling the aroma from the stove. Lunch was ready. "Is lunch ready yet baby?" the male father asked.
"Oh yeah. Burgers and chips for everybody."
In that big gourmet kitchen, the entire family was eating their lunch away like it was nothing. As they were eating Goby asked May does she liked the burger and she said yes. Deema watched in sadness seeing how the dark skinned male was giving this little girl all the love she deserved and she hope and pray that the DNA test she's about to put on her doesn't say differently.
…
Since Oona had moved back to Atlanta, she opened up another restaurant in the capital city of Georgia. It is heavily populated and has over hundreds of customers everyday since it was located at one of the busiest streets in the city. It is also where she's meeting up with Nonny, who was ordering something on the back patio.
"I'll have the chicken alfredo with a small Coke on the side," he said to his waitress.
"Excellent choice," the waitress responded. "Now what side the Coke?"
But before he could answer it, a familiar voice answered for him. "He would like a medium." Nonny turn his head and see Oona standing right next to him. She was in a wavy purple dress, black stockings and her purple hair was in a long pigtail landing on top of her back.
"Your order will be right out sir," the waitress said.
"Thank you." Nonny was more focused on seeing his ex again for the first time in a whole year. "It's so good to see you again. You look amazing."
"Thanks. You look handsome as well."
"Thanks."
"I've heard about your book. Congrats. You must be real proud."
"I am. I always love to write. But I was so caught up with my directing business I didn't get the chance to do it."
"I bet the wait was worth it though, huh?"
"Yes. Yes it is." Not to long ago, their waitress brought their food out along with their drinks.
"So what you wanna talked about?"
"I've heard that you and Avi have a daughter together."
The smile was erase from Oona's face. Did he really call her over here for that? "Is that what all this about?"
"No. I just wanna say congratulations."
"Oh. Thank you."
"Plus I wanna build back our friendship. I miss you and me hanging out together."
"You mean that?"
"Yeah. Remember on the set of our episode Triple Track Train Race? After Molly and Gil did their segment, we passed by Molly in that cardboard made train?"
Nonny laughed after remembering that part. "Yeah how can I forget? It later became the header of our fan base website that day." The two former lovers laughed. Although things were still awkward between them, it didn't stop them for having a few good laughs once every now and then. "Yeah we had some good times," Nonny added. "And that's what I want to fix. I don't want our break up to ruin that."
"I understand and I'm so sorry for betraying you like I did," Oona said.
"And I'm sorry I said things I shouldn't have."
"So are we good?"
"We're good." Nonny got up and opened his arms up. Oona walked up to him and hugged him as tight as she could. The only thing that broke up the hug was her phone ringing. It was Avi who was calling her, informing her that he was at some photography studio with their daughter Eva. "Well Nonny, I have to go," she said after hanging up the phone. "You should come by my house."
"Okay. I will. Me and my girlfriend Julia."
"Oh. You moved on as well."
"Yeah. You two are gonna love each other."
"okay. I'll see you soon then. Oh, and by the way."
"What?"
'You're paying for my food."
"We're not even dating."
"No. But you're still the guy. Bye." Oona giggled as she left her restaurant.
"You're still full of jokes," Nonny yell out to her. He sat back down on his table and drunk some of his wine. "I should have made your ass pay as payback."
I'm back everybody. Sorry for the long delay. Just dealing with a lot of personal issues including getting myself ready for college. Look I'm gonna wrap this up cause I'm planning on leaving fan fiction at the end of the year. It's not that I don't like working on my stories because I do. It's just that I'm a young adult now and I think its time for me to start working on having a secure future and that includes getting into the filming business. No heart feelings once so ever. But don't worry. I'm still working on my stories along with a couple new ones. I'll be back with a few more chapters. Bugs…signing out.
