Miles sat there shocked as Jill had just finished telling her story, as she worked on getting the train working.

"So it is true." He said, watching the woman work. "And as a result they sent this S.T.A.R.S hunter after you and another member?"

Jill nodded. "That they did, but thankfully I haven't seen hide nor hair of that creature. Maybe it got bored, or maybe it malfunctioned and turned on whatever Umbrella employees were still around."

"Yeah," Carlos chuckled from where he sat. "Or knowing him he could show up at the most inappropriate times."

Smiling Jill nodded, and turned back to the controls, fingering a loose wire before reattaching it. Smiling in satisfaction as the dash lit up, and the trolley hummed to life.

"Well," Carlos said, moving to stand next to her. "Finally something goes our way." He said.

"Yeah, no kidding." Jill said, standing up and wincing. "Man, I have no idea how anyone would work on these things." She said, massaging her back. "My back is killing me."

"So," Miles spoke. "Which one of you is driving?"

Frowning Jill looked to Carlos. "Do you know how to work this thing?" she asked. "Because in all honesty I have no idea."

Smirking Carlos placed a hand on her shoulder, and walked over to the controls. "No worries," he said, and sat down. "I got this."

At that Jill looked to Amelia and Miles and said, "I don't know about you two but I got a bad feeling about this."

"So are you saying we should grab our ankles and kiss our asses goodbye if this goes sideways?" Amelia joked, as Carlos rolled his eyes at her.

"Well, you should definitely hold on." He said as the trolley began to move.

Jill stared out the window, watching the scenery whip on by. And for the first time in a long while she was beginning to feel hopeful. Sighing she sat down next to Amelia and Miles. "So," she started, looking to them. "Uh what did you guys do before this?" she asked.

"Before all of this I was a waitress. At a little place called Amanda's. Food was shitty, the customers couldn't either keep their hands to themselves. Or never knew how to bathe, as we had guys who came in that were kinda funky."

Jill chuckled at that.

"Before or after the outbreak?" Miles asked.

"Before. And, hell when people started getting sick our equally grabby boss had decided to grope one of the new girls. Jennifer, I think her name was. Of course she had been one of the few who had been bitten by a zombie while walking to work. And not a second after she did that she turned and such her teeth into his neck."

"Heh," Jill chuckled. "I bet he wished he had never put his hands on anyone after that." She said.

"Yeah, karma truly is a bitch. Then after that panic struck, and a few more of those zombies got in. And in the chaos I found... Molly."

Silence.

Blinking Jill reached over and placed a hand on the other woman's shoulder.

"She... she had lost track of her mother in all the chaos, and had been cornered by one of the zombies. Until I whacked the fucker in the head with a frying pan, and scooped her up. We both managed to hide in the freezer for what seemed like forever. After that we wandered around looking for a safe place to hide."

"I take it that since she wasn't with you when we first met that something happened to her?" Miles asked.

Looking away Amelia nodded, tears glistening in her eyes. Gently he placed a hand on her shoulder, and squeezed.

"I'm sorry." Jill told her.

"What are you sorry for?" Amelia said, looking at her from the corner of her eye. "You're one of the good guys. One of the very few on this planet, no doubt. You have nothing to do with what happened to Molly." Amelia told her, a forced smile on her lips. Before she turned away.

Silence prevailed once more as Jill tried to find something to say.

"As for me." Miles spoke up. "I was just a normal computer tech sorta guy. Spent half my time repairing computers for some bigwig company, now I can't even remember the name. Never really was one for socializing. But one of my buddies from work talked me into going out, and we went drinking. I swear to you that I am never getting that drunk again in my life. And that's when shit hit the fan. Same way it did form Amelia, someone gets attacked first then chaos ensues."

Silence once more.

"I should go check on Mikhail." Jill said, as she moved to stand up.

Amelia opened her mouth to say something, when gunfire rang out from the car that Mikhail was in. Jumping to her feet Jill ran to the other car. Miles close behind. Opening the door the two of them stopped in their tracks.

As they stared at the monster that stood over the wounded soldier.

"I-is that the monster you were talking about?" Miles asked her, as Jill stared up at the creature as it lifted Mikhail up as if he were nothing.

"Yes," Jill whispered. "Mikhail!" Jill shouted, running over to where the big man was trying to fight off the monster. And was losing horribly as the patch-work freak threw him against the wall.

Grunting in pain he slid to the floor, blood staining the bandages crimson as he reopened his wounds. "Jill," gasped through clenched teeth, as he reached for something clipped to his belt.

Miles squinted as he took a few steps toward him. "Oh shit!" He cursed, and ran. "Grenade!"

"Get out of here!" Mikhail shouted, and pulled the pin, and looked the monster right in the eye. "I'm taking this guy to hell with me."

With one final glance at Mikhail Jill turned and ran, throwing the door open she was suddenly knocked off her feet, as the explosion rocked the trolley. Amelia and Miles both screamed as they were also tossed to the ground. Miles grunted as his head connected with the floor, and black out. Amelia running to his side.

"Miles, Miles wake up." She whispered, shaking him.

"Jesus Christ!" Carlos shouted, turning to look at Jill. "A-are you okay? What about Mikhail?"

Wiping the blood from her nose Jill sighed and shook her head sadly. "He..." She swallowed, fighting back tears. "He sacrificed himself to stop Nemesis. I'm sorry Carlos." She said, placing a hand on his shoulder, as the merc swore under his breath, and hung his head.

"This fucking city, Jill it takes everything from you." He whispered.

Swallowing Jill turned to stare out the window. He was right, in the past few months she lost more than she could ever wish. Forest, Richard, Edward, Kenneth, all great friends. Memories flashed through mind of times long since past. Of Christmas and birthday parties. Of get togethers at J's bar, and each others houses. Jill smiled as she remembered one particular time when she had first joined S.T.A.R.S. Forest had invited her over to his house for a party, and of course at first she had been a little apprehensive Forest had come off as a little too friendly.

But after much persuasion by Chris and Barry she went. And finally began to ease up after one hour of being there. And thing had gotten for entertaining she Joseph... Joseph. Jill's smile disappeared as she thought about that sweet, bandanna wearing man she found herself so in love with. And to think, She thought, placing a hand on her cheek. Everyone used to think that me and Chris would get together. But they sure as hell didn't see THIS coming.

"Shit!" Carlos cursed, bringing Jill out of her thoughts.

"What is it?" Amelia asked.

"The controls aren't responding. I can't stop the trolley!" Carlos shouted, working furiously at the controls.

"What do you mean the controls aren't working?" Miles asked as he slowly woke up, propping himself on his elbows and rubbed at the bump on his forehead.

"That explosion," Carlos said. "Maybe it had something to do with this, but if we don't stop this thing and soon we'll crash." Carlos told them, just as the trolley began to pick up speed.

"What do you mean crash?" Amelia asked, then looked through the front window. "Oh no.."

Up ahead were several demolished cars and various other debris that blocked the way, if they hit it they would quite possibly crash. "Oh man, oh man what are we going to do?" she whimpered, head in her hands.

"We're going to jump." Jill told her.

"Jump?!" Miles cut in, eyes wide. "Jump from where? There is nowhere to jump we, ladies and gentlemen are fucked."

SMACK!

Miles head to the side, his cheek stinging from where Jill had slapped him. "Calm down." She snapped. "We'll be fine, just follow my lead." She told them, and then leaped out the window.

Stunned the three remaining survivors looked at each other, then out the front window once more, and took a deep breath. It was now or never. Taking a deep breath Amelia bit down on her bottom lip, and jumped, squeezing her eyes shut. Grunting she hit the ground with a thud.

"Ow," she whimpered, rubbing at her throbbing shoulders. "Remind me to never do that again." She muttered. Screaming as the trolley collided with the debris. Bursting into flame. "Oh fuck," she muttered realizing that Carlos and Miles might not have made it out. "Carlos! She shouted, her voice tinged with worry. "Miles!"

"Keep it down, will you?"

Jumping Amelia turned around, and smiled. "You'll wake the dead." Miles joked, dusting himself off.

"Guys," she gasped, as she saw Carlos come up behind Miles. Smiling she ran up to them, wrapping her arms around Miles neck. "I-I thought you didn't make it out of there." She said, pulling away.

"Hell, I was sure that we weren't." Carlos said, running a hand through his hair.

Looking around Miles gripped Amelia's shoulders. "Jill where's Jill?"

"I-I don't know." Amelia said.

"Oh don't worry about me." Another voice spoke up.

Turning around they saw Jill walk up to them, looking smug.

"Jill!" Amelia gasped, and threw her arms around the other woman's neck. Chuckling Jill wrapped her uninjured arm around the red head.

"You all right?" Carlos asked.

Jill shrugged. "I've had better days, but somehow I'm still in one piece."

"I," Miles panted, cleaning his glasses on his shirt. "Am never doing that again."

"Agreed." Jill said.

"So... what do we do now? It can't possibly be safe out in the open like this." Amelia said, looking around warily.

"No, it isn't." Jill said. "That's why we are heading towards the clock tower. Maybe we can find away to signal another helicopter. And get of the city."

"Sounds like a plan to me." Carlos said, staring up at the clock tower. And the sooner we do that the sooner we can leave this godforsaken city forever. He thought, as the four of them walked towards the clock tower.

Leon grunted, pain radiating from his injured shoulder. His free hand pressed firmly against the still bleeding wound. "Son of a bitch." He cursed, ;pushing himself up. "A-Ada?"

Blinking he looked around, seeing no sign of the mysterious lady. "Ada! Where are you?" He called out. Wincing again, he looked around once more. Where the hell could she have gotten off to? He thought. Did she go off to confront the woman who shot at us? And if so did she run into trouble? He thought worriedly.

Heading off in the direction he had seen Ada run off to before he hand blacked out. "Ada!" He called out, hoping to get some sort of response.

"RAHHHH!"

"And just what in the hell was that?" he muttered, reaching for his gun.

BANG BANG BANG!

Leon's heart leaped at the sound of gunfire, so many possibilities running through his head, as he moved in that direction. Rounding the corner he was relieved to see the very woman he had been looking for.

"Ada!" He called, relieved.

"Leon! Please help me!" She pleaded.

"RAAAAHH!"

Just as she said that whatever she had been fighting swiped at her with curved claws. It's claws snagging the fabric of her dress, as she leaped out of its reach.

Wasting no time, Leon ran to her aid, gun in hand. Howling again the monster raised it clawed hand, moving to swipe at Ada again.

"Hey ugly!" Leon shouted, getting the creatures attention. And fired when it turned to face him. Screaming the monster howled, clutching at its bleeding face, giving Ada enough time to escape.

"Come on," she said, gripping his uninjured arm.

Panting the two of them ran into one of the abandoned rooms, as Leon slammed the door shut behind him, and locked it. "If it really wanted to it could tear through this door like a knife through butter. But hell I don't have much ammo left." Leon said, then winced.

"Goddammit." He hissed, clutching at his wounded shoulder again. "And this bullet wound sure as hell isn't making things any better." He panted.

Tearing her gaze away from the door Ada turned to Leon. Leon, sweet, kind, and noble Leon. A man who came to this god forsaken city to make the world a better place. A man who wanted to be her knight in shining armour. Smiling sweetly at him, she looked around, catching sight of a med kit on the wall.

"Here," she purred, opening the kit, and walking over to him. "Let me fix you up." She said, pushing him down into one of the empty seats. Leon watched as Ada busied herself bandaging himself and he did his best to stay still.

"So..." he started. "Did you happen to find that woman?" he asked.

Ada nodded. "Yes, I did and I just found out." She said. "John's dead."

Silence.

"I'm sorry, Ada." He said.

"Why? You had nothing to do with his death." Ada said.

"I know its just..." Leon trailed off.

"I don't think we should stand around here any longer." Ada said, placing a hand on his uninjured shoulder. "We should try and find away out of this city." She said after a while. "I know there is a tram a little ways away from here, come on." She said, taking a hold of his arm.

"What was that creature back there?" Leon asked, looking over his shoulder to make sure it wouldn't sneak up behind them.

"That creature was once William Birkin." Ada told him.

Leon's eyes widened, and looked over his shoulder again. "Birkin?" he asked. "How could that thing have been human?"

Ada sighed. Cute as Leon is she was getting tired of all his questions. "When Umbrella came to take the G-Virus from Birkin he was shot when he resisted. Not long after he injected himself with the very virus he had created, turning himself into that thing."

"Jesus." Leon muttered.

Jumping when he felt something crawling on his arm. Looking down he let out a startled yell, and swatted at the large cockroach climbing on him.

"Are you okay?" Ada asked.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." He said, crushing the bug under the heel of his shoe.

"The tram is just over here, just a little..." Ada stopped, and stared in the distance.

Confused Leon moved to stand beside her. "Holy shit..." he whispered. "Is that...?"

"He's not human if that's what you're thinking." Ada said.

As she said that the figure slowly turned around. Dead white eyes burning into hers as it looked down at them.

Slowly it took one lumbering step towards them, then another, and another. Raising his gun, Leon fired, catching it in the shoulder, unfazed it took another step toward them. When it finally stood before them. It stood their motionless for a moment, before raising one heavy fist. And swung at them. Its fist narrowly missing Ada's head as she jumped out of the way. Not wanting to waste anymore ammo the two of them ran past it.

"Holy hell." Leon panted. "The creatures here just get freakier and freakier." Darting down the hall they finally reached their location. "Looks like we're here." Leon panted, hands on his knees, as he fought to catch his breath. "We should go before that creature returns." He added, glancing over his shoulder to see if the thing in question was following them.

Seeing nothing the two of them entered the tram. After starting it up Leon moved to stand next to Ada. Saying nothing he only smiled at her as the woman moved to sit down.

"So," Leon said, trying to think of something to say. Dammit this always happened to him, when ever he was around a pretty girl ever since high school.

"So," Ada murmured, looking to him. "I ran into a few other survivors in my travels. A young woman with a pony tail, and man with her, and a little girl with blonde hair."

"Claire!" Leon gasped, startling Ada.

"Yes, I believe that was her name." Ada said, raising an eyebrow at him.

"And from what you say she's alive." Leon said, sounding relieved, shoulders slumping as he sat down next to her.

"Yeah, that creature. Birkin had come after the little girl that was with them. And I lured it away. I do hope your friends survive."

"So do I." Leon nodded, looking down at his hands. "But why was that monster after a little girl?" he asked.

Ada ran a hand through her hair. "She's Birkin's daughter. And when I met her your friend Claire she was looking for a way to make an anti-virus. According to her she and Sherry had gotten separated and in that time Birkin had infected her with embryos."

At Leon's worried look she smiled reassuringly. "But we managed to help her in time, and that is when we got separated from them too. I wish I knew where they were, that way we could meet up with them." She sighed.

"Maybe we will." Leon said. Placing a hand on her shoulder. "If I know Claire is that's she' tough, she'll make it out alive." Even if we don't. Leon thought darkly.

"I wanted to thank you." Ada said, placing her hand over his. "For all you've done." She said, inching closer and closer to him.

Leon felt his face flush as his eyes slid closed. His lips brushing ever so slightly against hers-

Screech!

Then the tram came to an abrupt halt. Getting to their feet Leon and Ada looked around.

"What happened?" Leon asked, looking around. "We've stopped."

"No kidding." Ada said, "but why?"

Just as she asked that, curved claws tore through the trams roof, slicing Ada in her side. Clutching at her bleeding side Ada grabbed for her gun and aimed it at the ceiling. Just as the puncture the ceiling again, narrowly missing Ada's face as she fired. Leon followed suit. Once more the claws punctured the roof for a third time, nearly catching him in the chest.

That was close! Leon thought. As if we don't have enough bumps and bruises. And then there was silence. Straining his ears Leon listened for any sign that the creature was still around. Turning to Ada he felt his mouth go dry as he watched her limp back to her seat, a trail of blood trailing behind her.

"I...I'm going to take a look outside." He told her, watching blood her hand, and her dress, pain etched on her beautiful face.

Wincing she nodded, sweat beading on her forehead. "Be back soon?" she pleaded.

Forcing himself to smile Leon nodded, and moved toward the door. Gripping his gun tighter he moved onto the platform, and looked around. When there was a low growl coming from the top of the tram, looking up Leon cursed his luck. Jumping down from the top of the tram Birkin let out another low growl as it dropped to its knees, as two more, longer arms protruded from his shoulders. Startled Leon took a step back, as those arms stretched out like a pair of wings as Birkin let out an ear splitting howl.

Raising his gun he fired, claws nearly catching him in the knee, as he leaped out of the way. Darting around the other side of the tram, he waited for the Birkin creature to appear. Sweat pouring down his face. Tensing as it jumped off the roof, and landed behind him. Spinning around he fired. Bullet tearing into the large eye protruding from its shoulder. Birkin howled, and dropped to his knees, bullets striking it in the head, Leon took a few steps back, putting some distance between him and the creature.

Growling Birkin got to his feet, inhuman eyes narrowed at Leon, as he stood up again. Claws dragging across the ground. Backing up against the guard rail Leon reached into his pocket for another clip, and reloaded his gun. Leaping out of the way once more as it closed in on him. Opening fire once more he caught it in its exposed back. Howling Birkin turned to face Leon once more. And once more it advanced slowly. Blood spilling from its wounds, claws gleaming with blood, Ada's blood.

Once more Leon fired on it, bullets tearing into the things chest. When finally it stopped. Pay no heed to Leon or its numerous wounds it raised its head, and sniffed the air. Then with once final glance at Leon it was gone. Blinking Leon lowered his weapon and ran a hand through his sweaty hair. Heading back into the tram he looked to the barely conscious Ada before walking over to the controls. Pushing the button that had started the tram Leon released the breath he didn't know he had been holding. Once more the tram lurched to life, and continued on its way.

"Well," Leon sighed, crouching down beside Ada. "I guess with Birkin gone, all I need to do is take care of you."

Looking around, seeing the medical supplies that Ada had decided to bring with them. Just in case she had told him. "Sure am glad you decided to take this stuff." Leon told her. Picking up the roll of gauze, and walking over to her.

"Leon," Ada murmured, watching him through half lidded eyes. "Y-you should just leave me. I'll only end up slowing you down."

Leon shook his head, and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "And why should I do that?" he asked, laying her back down, and admiring his work. "You could have just left me when I was wounded, why should I leave you?"

Swallowing Ada said nothing, as Leon looked down at her, something unidentifiable in his eyes. Was that... Love? Ada felt a hint of a smile tug at her lips at that thought. I don't know whether that's sweet or stupid. She thought. He only met me a few hours ago, and yet... Ada looked up once more, reaching up she lay a hand on his cheek. But I can't help but think that I'm slowly falling in love with him as well. Ada's eyes slid shut as his lips brushed ever so slightly against hers.

When she snapped back to reality, and gently pushed him away.

Blushing profusely Leon muttered an apology, before walking away. Watching as he sat down on the other side of the tram Ada returned to her thoughts. But, she thought, looking up at the torn remains of the ceiling. There is no room in your heart for him. And it's not like a cold hearted, money grubbing bitch like you could ever truly love him. You should stick to the plan. Get in, get the G-Virus, get out, use whoever you need to get what you want. Dispose of them as need be and get out end of story.

Suddenly she was snapped out of her thoughts, as tram came to a stop. Propping herself on her elbows she looked to Leon.

Giving her one those goofy little smiles of his as he helped her up. Saying nothing Ada took his hand, wincing as she stood up, pain still shoot up from her wounded side, blood seeping through her bandages.

"Leon," she said, as they exit the tram. "Thank you."

Smiling Leon shrugged his shoulder. "There is no reason to thank me." He said, as he helped her along. "I'm, uh, just doing my job." He told her, looking embarrassed.

"And you do it so well." Ada told him, enjoying watching him blush at her comment.

Her smile soon disappearing as they looked around the area they were in.

"Something tells me," Leon said, as Ada pulled away from him. Gun instantly in her hand. "That things are going to be way tougher from here on." Frowning he looked to Ada. "Are you ready?" he asked.

Checking her gun, and ammo once more Ada nodded, and looked to him. "As I'll ever be." She told him. I can get through this. She thought, eyes narrowed. I'm so close to completing this mission...I can't wait to get out of this place. She thought, following Leon. Ignoring the pang of guilt she felt, as she looked at him again. Knowing that at some point tonight, she would end up having to betray him.

Miles grunted as he and Carlos slammed the heavy doors shut. As several zombies slammed against it, moaning hungrily, and clawing at the door, begging to be let in. Nodding to Carlos, Miles took a moment to look around.

"Whoa," he muttered. "You know before the outbreak this placed was pretty nice. Well it's still pretty nice, but you know..." he trailed off, indicating to the blood stained floors, and various shell casings strewn about the room.

Rolling her eyes at him Amelia sighed, and moved about the room.

"So..." Jill panted. "What now?"

"Now we reach the top of the clock tower." Carlos told her.

"And do what?" Miles asked. "Stand around with our thumbs up our asses. I'm sorry but I don't like that idea one bit."

"Once we reach the tower we can call another chopper here, and get the hell out of dodge." Carlos said, glaring at Miles. It had only been a few hours but at this point Miles had been slowly grating on Carlos' already frazzled nerves. One more snide remark, or sarcastic comment from him and ol four eyes would land himself with a broken nose.

"And how do we contact them?" Jill asked. "Last time I check you didn't look like you had a radio on you from what I saw."

At that Carlos had to chuckle. "Been checking me out have you?" he joked. "No, what we got to do is go up and ring the bell and another chopper will come." He told them.

"And in the mean time we hope no more creatures like Jill's boyfriend show up, right?" Amelia asked.

"Right, so everyone let's move out. And keep your guard up." Carlos told them, as he headed up the stairs. Jill and the others close behind.

A small sliver of hope forming in Jill's chest as she thought about leaving the city once and for all. To finally be reunited with Chris, Barry, and Joseph. Jill allowed herself a small smile as she thought back to the goofy, bandanna wearing man. Her thoughts then when to Claire and Brad. Her smile soon disappearing. Were they all right? Were they still alive? Perhaps they had found a way out of the city already. God how she hoped that was true. And how she wished for some way of communicating with them.

Perhaps the Nemesis had gotten a hold of him, but then what about Claire? And her cop friend? Could they also be dead? Shaking her head Jill pushed those thoughts from her head. No, she thought, as she continued up the stairs. I can't think like that. Sure, I might not know what's happening to them, but I got to try and stay positive. Who knows maybe they already found away out of the city, or have been out of the city this whole time.

"Are you okay?" Amelia asked, placing a hand on her shoulder, making her jump.

"Yeah," Jill gasped. "I'm just thinking."

"About what?" Miles asked.

"About how great it'll feel to leave this place. To be reunited with my friends." She said.

Leaving it at that they continued up the stairs. Brad, Claire. She thought, chewing on her bottom lip. I hope you guys are still alive.

And here we have chapter 10. Got to say compared to chapters 8 and 9 this one is rather short. Well not totally but still... Anyway it might be a little while before I get the next chapters out. But I assure you they will include more Nicholai, the introduction of HUNK and more Mr X. Because this story doesn't have enough of him. But without further ado this is Black Jack signing off.
