Chapter 10

It's been two weeks since Draco had to leave. To Hermione's annoyance, no one seemed to care. The only people that did seemed to be Herself, Blaise and Pansy. Hermione was surprised by her behaviour towards him.

"After all those years of bullying me, you'd think I'd be grateful he's gone" she muttered to Ginny as she dropped her head onto the table, almost knocking over her glass of butter beer. Ginny moved it out of the way to avoid any accidents.

"I'm shocked to be honest" She said, "I didn't expect you, of all people, to fall in love with that ferret"

"I'm not in love with him" Hermione stated, raising her head and looking Ginny dead in the eye,

'Right and I'm not in love with Harry' she heard Ginny snort sarcastically in her thoughts,

"He's not allowed anywhere near Hogsmeade. He's not even allowed at the train station! He's a wizard, they can't keep him in the muggle world. They even took his wand off of him. The poor idiot wouldn't survive five minutes!" Hermione exclaimed after she took a drink of her beer, "He doesn't even know what a telephone is for god sake!"

"You are so not in love with him" Patronized Ginny and received an irritated look from Hermione,

"I'm just worried about him" she explained. It was true, she was but that doesn't mean love . . . Right?

"Oh God," she groaned as dropped her head onto the table again, "isn't there some way that I can help him?"

'Should I tell her about the rumor?' Ginny thought and Hermione immediately looked up,

"What?" Asked Ginny,

"What rumor?" Said Hermione, eyes squinting in suspicion. Her own best friend didn't tell her any gossip? This was new.

"What are you talking about?" Questioned Ginny, beginning to worry for her friend. Hermione realised that she must look a bit crazy so she put on an innocent act, "I also heard a rumor . . . I just want to find out if it's the same one"

It was now Ginny's turn to look at Hermione suspiciously but she soon changed and became the blabber mouth she usually was. She leant towards Hermione and whispered, "Apparently, Draco's father wasn't actually working with the death eaters. He was supposedly undercover all along"

She leant back and took a sip of her juice, "I don't know if it's true though"

'This is it!' Hermione thought excitedly, 'if I can prove that Lucius is innocent then Draco can come back!'

She did a small victory pump and looked at Ginny to see that she had questioning look on her face,

'What the hell is wrong with you?' Hermione heard her think. She stood up with a smile and ran out of the pub while shouting back at Ginny, "Nothing!"

"Hey! What about your rumor?!" But it was too late, Hermione was down the street before Ginny had opened her mouth.

-BREAK-BREAK-

Hermione sat in her room trying to think of who to go to first about Lucius.

"Snape should know . . . But he hates me . . ." She spoke on debate with herself. She was so focused, she didn't her door open.

"Erm . . . 'Mione?" Said a red-head with red face,

'He must be nervous about something' thought Hermione, not really concentrating on Ron but more concerned about asking Snape.

"Hermione?" He asked again, this time she looked at him because it was the first time in a while since he said her full name,

"What is it, Ron?" She asked. He moved to sit beside her and he clasped her hands in his.

'What the hell is going on' she thought a bit worried,

"I don't know how to say this . . . I've never done it before" he said and if possible, his face went even redder,

"Oh, hurry up and out with it, Ronald" Hermione said with a bit of impatience,

"Will you . . . Would it be ok if . . . Would you . . ." Ron kept sputtering,

"Oh for goodness sake, just say it" replied an irritated Hermione,

"Will you go out with me?" Ron finally breathed with a sigh of relief,

'All the suspense . . . For that? I suppose I should've expected it' She thought and she prepared to tell him her answer when he suddenly bolted up and ran to the door.

"Think about it first, 'k?" He smiled and then he left the room.

She sighed a breath of annoyance before she left the room herself in search of Professor Snape.

-BREAK-BREAK-

"You must know something!" Exclaimed Hermione.

She'd finally found Snape after about 30 minutes of wondering around Hogwarts and now the Professor provided as much information as rat.

"Miss Granger!" Shouted Snape, "I cannot do anything to help Malfoy. That boy's fate has been sealed. Even if I did know something, it wouldn't be of any use. My word has no power in the Ministry"

"But . . . Wasn't he your favorite student? Surely you two were close enough that you cared for him" questioned Hermione.

Snape was suddenly hit with a flashback of the promise he made to Narcissa. He felt a small pang of guilt and he sighed.

'Annoying, manipulative brat' she heard Snape think and she crossed her arms for her moment of triumph,

"Alright," said Snape, "You owe me one and you better not tell, you little snitch"

Hermione made a Scout's Honor sign but this only earned her a look of confusion. Obviously he had never heard of the Scout's. Snape held his wand onto Hermione's head and he sent her back to the time he had last seen Lucius.

"Good luck" he said before she disappeared.

I'm really sorry that this is so late. I'm trying to write up to the main story without boring you guys. I hope some of you can PM me some idea's as to what can happen, it'll really help.

Sorry if it's short, hopefully the next chapter will be longer. ('3')b
