A/N: Thank you all for reading. And thank you so much for all of the reviews; they've really spurred me on to get this chapter written and uploaded!
Anyway, here's part one of their trip to the cabins.. Enjoy.
Chapter Ten – More Than Enough
That was it. She couldn't take the incessant nattering from the blonde for a minute longer, "Will you please stop whining?"
"I signed up for hot chocolate around the log fire, inside a warm cabin…" here she goes again, "champagne in the hot tub, beside a warm cabin…" how was she still complaining? "Beautiful, shining white, porcelain toilets, inside a warm-"
"-Seriously, Arizona. Stop."
The blonde pouted, the kind of pout that would have been adorably cute if Callie wasn't already so stressed out, "How long is left?"
"Not long," she huffed, "just stop whining. Please."
She paused her steps for a moment, looking around at the endless spreading canopies of deep green, new roots twisted and criss-crossed around old roots, the trunks of fallen trees preventing their path from taking any form of new direction. She loved that smell. The sweet surrendering scent of the forest's perfume, a scent that does not belong on earth.
Callie had been here before, back when she'd first moved to Seattle. But it had been summertime then. She could remember how the streaks of white gold had almost penetrated through the branches, illuminating the bright greens into beaming riots of yellow; so vivid you could see the individual venation pattern of each leaf. Yet now, the gift of those warm days had passed for the season. February was upon them and the wintry days were clinging on.
At some point it had started to get darker and now they could just about make out the remnants of the sun as it merged with the sky, dark, like blackcurrant fruit-squash dissolving in a glass of water. Those last remnants of rays creeping through the boughs in sepia tones; though less obviously beautiful than the bright bloom of the summer, there was something understated about the subtle beauty of the forest on a cool winters eve.
She sighed under her breath; they'd been walking for what must have been well over an hour now since they'd last seen any of their friends. If Callie was totally honest, she had absolutely no idea where they were.
"How many times do I have to tell people? I. Hate. Camping." Luckily, the blonde mustn't have noticed the fact that she was clearly just as lost as the other woman but still, she blew out a frustrated breath as Arizona continued rabbiting away, half speaking to herself and half addressing Callie.
"Yeah well, I hate listening to you whining about how much you hate camping," she retorted as she swatted a branch out of the way, "and we aren't camping."
She flinched as Arizona grabbed her arm, "Did you hear that?"
"Hear what?" She couldn't help but feel slightly amused at the sight besides her. Arizona was as pale as a sheet as she failed to keep her face in one direction, in favour of frantically whipping her head from left to right.
"HOLY FUCK!" The blonde jumped from her position beside her and appeared right in front of her, well, practically at one with her, as her arms clung tightly to the Latina in a vice grip.
"Jesus, Arizona," she snapped as the blonde's scream had brought her own heart rate up tenfold, though she couldn't fight the instinct to move her arm to gently caress the small of Arizona's back, protecting her from whatever she'd thought she'd heard, "Will you calm down?"
They stayed like that for a few lingering moments, Arizona's ragged breath slowing to something more lulled as the Latina's fingertips subconsciously traced patterns against the material of her thick coat, though pressing just hard enough for the blonde to feel the effect against her skin.
"Sorry," Arizona finally pulled away, the absence of her warmth being replaced by a rush of cold air between the two, "You know I don't like being out in the wilderness at night."
Callie stifled a laugh, flashbacks playing in her mind from the last time she'd convinced her to go camping. Sofia had honestly been less scared of the dark than the blonde.
"Forget it," Arizona scowled despite her attempts at stifling her amusement, she turned and began to storm off in the direction they'd been heading for the past half hour, "I knew this stupid hike was a mistake."
Callie rolled her eyes at how much of a princess the other woman could be, mumbling under her breath as she started to follow, "Hmm, you seem to be making a lot of those lately."
The blonde stopped suddenly, coming to a halt just a few steps in front of her. Callie bit at her lip, cursing herself for not being able to keep her mouth shut. She watched as the other woman's shoulders rose and then sunk again, taking a deep breath.
*29 hours earlier*
"This is it!" Callie exclaimed with a huge grin as Amelia pulled Meredith's jeep up next to the sister cabins. She'd spent the last two hours half following an old style paper map and half relying on her memory to get them to Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Amelia had driven, seeing as Meredith had just come directly from a night shift and Callie had been working ridiculous hours lately herself, mostly to stop herself from overthinking every little thing going on in her life.
"Karev and Wilson are already here," Amelia nodded towards the car parked just over to the other side.
Right on queue, Alex came bounding out of one of the cabins, a bucket hat on his head and a beer bottle in his hand, "Ladies!"
The three friends chuckled at the groom-to-be as he stood on the veranda and watched them unload the car.
"Are you just gonna stand there and watch, orrrr?" Callie raised an eyebrow.
"You're joking, aren't you?" Meredith chuckled, "Karev? Help someone? Voluntarily?"
Callie let out a laugh and turned to face the honey blonde, feigning shock, "He works on Paeds! You know, kind, selfless, compassionate…"
"You aren't a tiny human, Torres!" Alex shouted over as he took a swig from his bottle and let out an exaggerated 'aaah' in satisfaction.
Tiny human. She'd never heard someone describe children in that way before, until she watched Arizona at work for the first time during a Paeds rotation. She could remember it now, how spellbinding the blonde had been whilst she spoke. At first, it had been hot, seeing Arizona purely as Dr. Robbins, commanding a field of doctors to her way of work. And then she had watched as a twinkle filled her eyes, even brighter than the permanent sparkle she found there, as she spoke about her patients with more pride than she'd ever really seen from someone before.
"These are the tiny humans. These are children. They believe in magic, they play pretend; there is fairy dust in their IV bags. They hope and they cross their fingers and they make wishes…"
"Hi!" Wilson snapped her out of her daze as she hopped down the steps towards them, "Let me help you!"
Alex lifted his eyebrows, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as the Latina shot him a half-joking glare.
A few minutes later and their luggage had been strewn by the door of the larger cabin, as the five friends wandered around, becoming acquainted with the place.
"How awesome is it?" Wilson exclaimed; excitement evident in every one of her features as she slinked her arm around her fiancés waist and beamed at the friends.
"Very awesome," Meredith smiled back warmly.
Initially, Meredith had had a hard time warming to Jo. For some reason, she'd pretty much hated her. Callie had even become suspicious that her friend had some kind of suppressed feelings towards Alex and they were manifesting in her incessant glaring, snapping and undermining of the new intern he'd become cosy with. Eventually though, it had passed. Wilson had proven herself to Meredith; or Medusa, as she'd apparently used to call her and the two of them were actually really great friends now.
They all turned as they heard a car pulling up out front.
"Look at that for timing!" Alex grinned as he took a final swig from his bottle and threw it into the recycling. Jo and Meredith followed him over to the veranda to greet the rest of them.
"So, how did it go with Zoe the other night?"
Callie looked up at Amelia's expectant expression, feeling slightly awkward at the fact she'd actually ended up arguing with the woman Amelia had been so eager to set her up with.
She'd been great. Blonde, slim, attractive and clearly very sexually wired. Pretty much everything Callie should be looking for at the moment.
But for some reason it wasn't. Well, for a very specific reason, a reason she'd been fighting since the minute she landed back in LA and looked into those ocean blue eyes. They say eyes are the windows to the soul. But when Callie looked into Arizona's eyes, she swore she could see her own soul reflected in them. She saw everything she wanted to be, everything she could be, and everything she'd ever been missing.
Zoe had taken her to dinner at a Mexican near to the hospital before she was due for her night shift. The date had been thoughtful, although slightly cliché with the Mexican food, and Callie really had enjoyed herself.
It was when it came to the end of the night and she saw how Zoe's eyes had hazed over with lust in a way hers were far from doing. Without warning, the blonde had swiftly moved to encase her cheeks, leaning up on her tiptoes, her face moving closer as she did so.
Callie had instinctively taken a step backwards, bringing her own arm up to lightly push her away, a move that had sparked a feisty flare in the smaller woman. She hadn't been able to lie to her, she thought it was best to just be honest and tell her there was someone else she just couldn't get out of her head. Bad move.
"Umm," she began, "Let's just say I don't think I'll be seeing her again," she replied sheepishly.
"Who's the mystery woman?" Amelia retorted with a smirk.
"Huh?" Callie frowned in confusion at the brunette.
"Zoe called me right after she'd left the hospital and filled me in on your mystery lover."
Callie opened her mouth to respond, but before she had a chance the four new arrivals made their way into the cabin, the blonde at the forefront of the group, "Arizona!" Callie barked out, a few notes higher than her usual voice.
"Ahh," Amelia whispered, the smirk evident in her voice, "I see."
Callie shot a glare at the brunette, feeling a blush spreading across her cheeks.
"Calliope," Arizona responded, neglecting any kind of smug expression for a genuine one, "this place looks great, huh?"
After all of the greetings had been done, everyone's luggage had been unloaded from the cars and drinks had been handed round, Jo called for everyone's attention.
"So, rooms," the brunette began, "Alex and I are in the other cabin, along with Jackson and April," a holler of wolf whistles were let out by Karev and DeLuca, causing the redhead to turn a bright shade of beetroot, not too much deeper than the colour Jackson had turned.
"There's an extra room in this cabin, so it made sense for the rest of you guys to decide who's shacking with who," Alex pitched in as the four of them headed towards the door to unpack their things and get settled in their lodge.
"We were thinking dinner in about two hours? Then we can pop open the champagne in the hot tub," his fiancé added as they exited.
"And then there were five," Amelia rubbed at the jeans on her thighs, looking around at the others with a look in her eye that was making Callie anything but comfortable, "Deluca, seeing as you're the only guy it makes sense for you to get the single room, right?"
"Sure. If you ladies don't mind?" He glanced around politely as the remaining women smiled and shook their heads. He nodded and grabbed his things, heading for the small room, leaving Callie nibbling at her bottom lip in fear of what stint Amelia was going to try and pull.
"Amelia," Arizona interrupted as the brunette opened her mouth to speak, "Should we let Callie and Meredith have the double room and we can take the twin?"
Callie exhaled a breath she didn't know she'd been holding as her and Meredith nodded at each other in affirmation. The smug look fell from Amelia's face but was soon replaced as she shot Callie an 'I have a whole lot more up my sleeve' kind of look. Callie shook her head subtly and shot her a 'don't you even think about it' kind of look back, as she made her way to the door to grab her rucksack.
"Are you sure you don't need me to do anything?" Arizona asked for the third time as Callie, DeLuca, Jackson and April finished off cooking the last of the dinner.
"No-one needs food poisoning on the first night, Zona," April responded, earning her a glare and an annoyed tilt of the head from her friend. Callie couldn't help but chuckle at April's admission of what everyone else was thinking, earning her an even deeper scowl from the blonde. She turned back around to where the pasta was boiling away, stirring the pan to give her an excuse to look away from the other woman. It was about three hours into the trip and she was already finding it hard to keep distracted from thoughts and daydreams about her.
"Ha-ha," Arizona retorted sarcastically.
Callie tensed as she felt the blonde brush past her. She didn't even need to turn around to know who it was; there was something about Arizona's touch she'd be able to sense if she was deaf, blind and probably even unconscious. She turned her head slightly to ogle the other woman from the corner of her eye, landing straight on her toned legs as she leant forward to grab something out of the fridge.
It was warm and toasty inside the cabin, so the tiny denim shorts she was wearing weren't exactly unwarranted, but Jesus Christ the smooth, toned legs they exposed should have been prohibited. It was amazing how much her new prosthetic mimicked her other leg, and even more amazing the way Arizona had managed to still keep up her love of running and keep every curve and flex of definition in her remaining leg.
"Seen something you like, Torres?" Callie jumped, splashing the wooden spoon in the process and sending scalding hot water all over her hand, "Ow!"
She shook her hand, trying to rid the pain as she glared at Amelia, wondering when the hell she'd appeared next to her, "Shit, that hurts like a mother."
"Calliope, are you okay?" Arizona had shot from her position in the fridge door and grabbed the Latina's tanned hand with both of her own, examining her as though she was expecting immediate blisters to cover the skin there.
Goosebumps erupted all over her body at the contact. If Callie had thought her skin had been hot before, now it really was burning.
She shifted her gaze to look at the blonde, ignoring the knowing smirk Amelia was giving her as she grabbed a few bottles and made her way out of the kitchen.
"I'm fine, don't worry," she smiled down at her, immediately missing the contact as she shook her hand away in favour of running it under the cold tap.
She tried desperately to keep her eyes glued to her hand and the running water but she could feel blue eyes on her. Arizona was so close she swore she could feel her breath on the exposed skin of her neck. She gave in and turned her head to meet her gaze, smirking as she caught Arizona gawking her like prey. She silently thanked Meredith for forcing her to pack such a low cut top, as the blonde's eyes had been so very obviously ogling at the cleavage bulging from the deep purple material.
The two women shared a moment as their eyes locked, brown and blue colliding with the force of a steam truck, but both glazed over softly like harebells wet with dew.
She needed to talk to her. She needed to tell Arizona how she felt.
She needed to tell her that when she looked at her it was like everything made sense again. She needed to tell her that returning to Seattle wasn't what felt like coming home again, it was seeing Arizona- feeling Arizona; that was what felt like coming home again.
She'd be lying if she said she wasn't terrified. Everything about Arizona terrified her.
But she'd eventually cracked and confided in Meredith before they'd packed up the car for the trip; confessing the depths of how she felt towards the blonde; confessing how she was scared she'd messed everything up by walking away in the club that night and then stupidly trying to make Arizona jealous after they'd shared the most perfect afternoon getting ice-cream. Meredith had agreed she'd been stupid, but then she'd slipped in that she'd seen Arizona the previous day and they'd spoken about things.
That was all Meredith had said.
Try as she might, Callie couldn't get any more information out of the honey blonde- apart from an expression that wasn't quite a smirk, but wasn't quite anything else she could pinpoint. A look that said she knew something that Callie didn't.
Whatever it was supposed to mean, it had had Callie thinking all day about what on earth the two could have talked about to make her give her that look. If anything, it had made her want to speak to Arizona even more urgently, just to find out.
She realised she hadn't actually taken a breath since their eyes had been locked. She didn't need to. She could live without oxygen if she could look into those eyes forever; the perfect shade of electric blue. Striking yet soft. The kind of electricity that had the ability to paralyse every muscle in your body in one shock and make your blood writhe and dance in another.
She needed to speak to her tonight.
But then what if things didn't go the way she wanted? Then what? They were stuck out in Marblemount for another day and night. She'd have to watch the blonde awkwardly from afar, having probably totally ruined any chance of a friendship at the very least. Not that she could ever truly be just a friend to the blonde. Is it possible, to be friends with someone who makes your heart race faster than a shooting star?
"Dinner's up!" DeLuca called out as he pulled the last dish from the oven, snapping the women out of their locked gaze. Callie reached forward to turn off the tap, and when she turned back Arizona had moved from her position next to her and was helping the others with the plates and dishes.
The Latina shuffled to gather up the condiments, realising how hungry she actually was when she felt her stomach rumbling.
As she placed the various sauces and seasonings down on the table, she flickered her eyes up in the direction of the glorious high-pitched laugh that was echoing around the room. Callie couldn't help but upturn her own lips at the sound of her laughter, bright and full of life, like dandelions in summer days, blossomed upon a quiet field.
Arizona's head was thrown back, her blonde curls bouncing softly against her shoulders and her cheeks flushed a gentle shade of pink as she grasped at April's arm.
There it was again. Electric volts seared through every inch of Callie, her skin tingling as their eyes briefly met and her own cheeks mimicking the pink of the blonde's at having been caught watching.
Yep. She definitely had to talk to her tonight.
"How many surgeons can you fit in a hot tub?" The friends burst into laughter at Karev's words, his countless beers only emphasising his mischievous streak as he stood in the hot tub, arms stretched out inviting the rest of the gang in. This was certainly going to be a memorable weekend.
Dinner had been delicious. Pasta arrabiata, various different salads, garlic bread slathered with cheese and sweet potato fries that had been baked in the oven so they were perfectly crisped. Just the kind of meal the Latina loved; carbs on carbs on carbs.
They'd all sat around the table for an hour or so after they'd cleaned up; drinking wine and sharing stories about the soon to be married couple. It had all been fun and games until Meredith had brought up that night a very, very long time ago that Callie and Alex had slept together.
She'd seen the way the blonde immediately tensed; her knuckles turning an even paler shade of white against her grip on her wine glass, her teeth clearly nibbling against the flesh of her inner bottom lip. And when they'd caught eyes that time, Arizona's orbs had blazed through her like a cannon shot through lace veil. She'd been reminded of just how jealous the blonde could get; the heat of her glares contrasting with the ice cold daggers she could see her shooting to Alex whenever he was looking away. The image of her with someone else still bothered her, just like it still bothered Callie.
The Latina had inwardly cursed herself for trying to get a rise out of Arizona a few days earlier in the park. She knew the blonde better than that. It had been a low blow.
"Bubbly, m'darlings?" Jo passed champagne flutes round the group as Alex poured them each a glass full, spilling half of the contents into the water as he struggled to keep his balance.
"Let's wait for Amelia and Arizona before we cheers," April chirped, addressing the absence of the two friends who were still changing. Callie was actually quite glad she had a few moments to sip at her drink and feel the merry effects of the alcohol before she had to witness her ex wife clad in nothing but a bikini. Despite the heat of the water, she shivered at the thought.
"What's the plan for tomorrow then?" Meredith questioned the engaged couple.
"Whatever you guys want!" Jo responded, smiling at the group, "I doubt we'll be in much of a fit state for any early morning hikes or anything but we could always do a late afternoon one?"
"Definitely," April nodded eagerly, smiling over at Jackson who nodded as well.
"Yeah let's do a big brunch situation," the plastic surgeon began, "then us guys could do a spot of fishing whilst you ladies spend some quality time," they all nodded in agreement, "and maybe we could do early evening hike to catch the sunset?"
"I signed up for hot tubs and drinking, not late night wandering through the forest," they all turned to face Arizona as her and Amelia made their way over, a grimace across the blondes face at the mention of hiking.
Amelia Hunt was an extremely attractive woman. Her figure was exquisite and her features were ever so slightly harsh, but still a complete delight, somewhat echoing the very essence of her personality. She also managed to make natural brown hair a colour that people would long for.
But, in this moment, Amelia Hunt was like the ghost of a shadow, completely overpowered by the breathtakingly radiant blonde beside her.
The moons delicate light turned the world a-flame when Callie gazed at the sight in front of her, her body suddenly incessantly thirsty no matter how much of the blonde she drank in.
Her hair was raked up into a messy ponytail, only a few golden strands left loose, leaving each of her perfect features completely exposed. Her face had been stripped of her light makeup, leaving soft lips naked and sparkling eyes innocent and bright. She looked, angelic, pure. So much so that Callie momentarily didn't believe that those same lips had nipped and kissed the most sinful crevices of her own body, those ocean blue eyes had been almost black with desire, writhing beneath her.
Callie's sipped at her drink, desperate for any ounce of moisture to wash over her now totally dry mouth as the blonde climbed into the tub, directly opposite from her, allowing her the evilest view of full, porcelain breasts contained by teasingly thin red material. Pearl white teeth nibbled against a soft pink lip as Callie saw Arizona gawping at her own chest. Suddenly the blonde didn't seem so innocent anymore.
"Let's get this party started!" Karev yelled, passing a full champagne flute to Arizona, who accepted the drink eagerly. Amelia filled her flute with orange juice; they all knew she didn't need alcohol to have fun.
"To Karev and Wilson!" Jackson motioned, lifting his drink to the middle.
"To Karev and Wilson!" They all echoed, mimicking his action, eliciting an array of clinks and hollers.
"What time is it?" Callie was the first to break the silence that had overcome the pair as April and Avery had finally retired to the bedroom, suddenly leaving she and Arizona totally alone in the dimly lit hot tub.
"Umm," the blonde began, stretching to lean over to her phone, "time you got a watch?"
"Ha-ha," Callie droned, chuckling a little, "I forgot how much you suck at jokes."
"Hey, that was funny!" She defended, faking offense.
"If you say so, Doctor Robbins."
The silence returned as two pairs of dark eyes locked, both flashing back to an hour or so earlier. Amelia, clearly revelling both in the fact that she wasn't drunk and everybody else was and the fact that she now knew about Callie's feelings towards Arizona, had suggested they all play never have I ever. The game was simple, they would each take it in turns to throw out a statement and those who had ever partaken in whatever the statement were, had to drink. It could be something innocent, like April's first turn; "never have I ever eaten an entire pizza after a night out," or it could be something much worse, like Amelia's; "never have I ever worn a mouth gag during sex."
Callie was pretty sure she'd never told Amelia about that experience, yet somehow the glint in her eye when she said it made it seem as though she knew. The Latina had tensed, looking anywhere but at Arizona as the friends had all looked around, laughing and intrigued to see if anyone would drink.
Of course it had only been Callie and Arizona who had tentatively raised their drinks to their lips, the Latina desperately wishing DeLuca would hurry up and take his turn so they wouldn't have to discuss the scenario they were both obviously replaying in their minds.
She wasn't granted any mercy. In fact, she was sure Arizona was trying to kill her. At first there had been laughs and hollers from their friends, before an onslaught of questions to ensure whether it was actually with each other that the two women had used one, who it was who'd instigated the bondage and whether it was a regular occurrence in their day to day sex life.
Callie had tensed, but Arizona had done the complete opposite. The blonde hadn't hesitated to describe, in detail, the first time Callie had tied her to the bedposts, making her scream her name several times before deciding 'Doctor Robbins' had to 'keep quiet' now. Callie had been thankful for the soft ripple of bubbling water around her, disguising her ragged breaths as her centre tingled almost painfully at the memory. God, had she made Arizona come undone that night. Again, and again, and again.
"Calliope," Arizona took a breath and Callie swore she could hear a slight tremble in her voice. She waited for the blonde to continue, their eyes locked from their opposing positions on either side of the hot tub, "can- can we talk? I think- I think we need to talk."
The Latina let out a slightly trembling breath as her heart sped up to an unnatural speed; apologies, pleadings and love notes swimming around in her head, unable to form into actual spoken words.
"Okay, I'll start," the blonde continued, building on the other woman's stunned silence and taking a deep breath, "I am so deeply, deeply, deeply sorry for hurting you so much. I am so sorry."
The Latina opened her mouth to respond, closing it again as she thought about what to say. She hadn't been expecting that at all.
"Arizona," she began, watching as the blonde's eyelids fluttered at the sound of her name on the Latina's lips, "don't- please don't apologise," the stitches and band aids that had healed her broken heart over the years threatened to burst and rip at the sight of the blonde so vulnerable in front of her, "I messed up too. We both did. I know I've hurt you too- I shouldn't have walked away like I did the other week. I shouldn't have left you standing there."
Pink lips smiled weakly back at her, "I mean, yeah, you can't really tell a girl she sets your skin on fire in one breath and then tell her she's not enough in the next," she chuckled, trying to make the situation a little lighter.
"No, no, no- Arizona, you are enough- God, you are more than enough," she uttered desperately, shuffling herself until she was directly besides the other woman, their wet skin now touching in various pinpoints- thigh to thigh, a tanned finger against a pale arm, "I just- I meant that we've been through so much," she paused again, not wanting anything to come out wrong, "and we've made so many mistakes before that I just couldn't face messing everything up again. Especially not when we have a daughter whose heart we could end up breaking along the way."
Arizona nodded, turning her face so it was mere inches away from Callie's. Blue eyes flickered down to glance over plump lips, her tongue subconsciously peeking out to swipe over a pink bottom lip. The sexual energy between the pair was ridiculous, even after all this time, they still each had the ability to set the other on fire, even during the midst of a desperately needed, serious conversation.
"I hear that," Arizona spoke merely above a whisper, the ghost of a smile across her features, "I- I know this is scary."
Callie couldn't help but smile softly back at the other woman, at the love of her life; the woman who was constantly the object of her thoughts, of her dreams, of her deepest desires.
"Arizona, I-" her words were cut short as the sight of a very naked Karev appeared, running and yelling as he streaked to the delight of his hysterically laughing fiancé, stood just by their cabin door.
"Great fucking timing Karev," Callie bit her lip to suppress a smirk as she heard Arizona mutter almost silently below her breath.
"At least it's dark so I don't have to spend the next two hours scrubbing my poor eyeballs," the Latina joked, smiling as the blonde turned to face her with a mirroring smile.
"It's not something you haven't seen before though, is it Calliope?" The blonde countered, her lips pursing into a grimace and her eyes momentarily rolling in disgust.
Callie was like a fish out of water, her mouth opening and closing, debating how to comeback from that retort. Luckily the blonde let out a chuckle, lightening the mood again as she shouted over to the still running Karev, "My eyes are burning, Karev!"
"I know I'm hot, Zee!" He shouted back as he eventually made a full circle of the sister cabins and joined his giggling wife for what would presumably be a night filled with a lot of drunken sex.
Callie watched the cogs in Arizona's mind turning, her teeth nibbling at her lip in thought, her eyes flickering around them, not able to focus on one spot. Instinctively, she found herself reaching her fingers beneath the water to find the other woman's hand, encasing pale skin in her own tanned hand.
She could swear she felt her heart constricting in her chest as the other woman turned her hand to intertwine their fingers. And then, as if the Latina wasn't already swooning enough, the blonde shuffled and tilted her head so that her soft cheek was leaning against Callie's exposed shoulder,
As if it was scripted, the two women let out a simultaneous sigh. The kind of sigh that sang out in strangled content, tainted with whispers of buts and what ifs.
Callie had so much more she wanted to say, so much more she wanted Arizona to know. But for now, this was enough.
God, this was more than enough.
