"W-Wait? Elope?" Drew questioned again.
"OK well, not really elope but, why don't we move up the wedding? Time is short right?" Skylar suggested.
She went into the kitchen and poured herself a glass of wine and drank it, offering Drew some. However, he looked just as confused by what she just said and was still taking it all in.
"Honey, what's going on to make you think this way?" Drew asked, sipping some of her wine and then getting an apple from the fruit bowl, biting into it.
Skylar was so distracted, angry that she was frantically looking for the calendar and flipping through into next month, looking for the perfect day to have the wedding.
"Let's get married next week!" Skylar said excitedly.
"Skylar-"
"No, not next week, how about this week?"
"Sky-"
"Ok well maybe in about three days, fuck catering they don't know the difference between shrimp and steak, right?"
"SKYLAR BROOKS!" Drew snapped.
Skylar looked up, her frustration clear on her face. "What is it babe?"
"Something is clearly up. Now what is it?" Drew asked her, rubbing his hand on her back. Skylar scoffed and closed the calender book.
"There is nothing up. I would like to married sooner rather than later, is that so wrong?" She groaned, sitting on the living room couch. Drew sat with her.
"I want us to get married baby but it seems as though your so quick about it. We have too much going on with our business, MY business for that matter. And we've already set a date, remember? We are going to get married in the summer."
"Well, spring needs to hurry their ass up already." Skylar complained, pouring another glass of wine and downing it. Drew sighed and wrapped his arms around her.
"Listen, something was upsetting you. Now tell me what it is." He asked. Skylar sighed. setting the wine glass down.
"Layla fainted today. I went to go see her in the gym and we talked and well..she got sick and she fainted in the hospital."
"Oh sweetheart.." Drew soothed, pulling her in his arms.
"I just saw her...in that bed..she was looking so weak and so pale." Skylar suddenly started crying.
"Honey, why do you care all of a sudden about Layla? I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just wondering is all."
Skylar couldn't possibly tell him about that sweet kiss Layla gave to her today..or back in the past when she had sexual encounters with her and Layla was her dominatrix. She should tell him the truth. In fact, he had every right to know. But would it really put a damper on their relationship? Would it ruin their chances of being a happily married couple and stopping Skylar from walking down the aisle, saying "I DO" to him? Maybe she should tell him part of the truth.
"Well, actually Me and Layla did know each other a little more.." Skylar said, taking a deep breath. "We were umm...best friends and she was like a mother to me."
"Ok.." Drew nodded.
"A while back, I had dated this guy named Lucas and that son of a bitch broke my heart. He was worthless sack of shit and I never wanted anything to do with him again." Skylar could feel herself growing angry at thinking about Lucas's smug stupid face when she caught him getting head from that slut.
"Anyway, I had ran into Layla when I went to her house and all, where Roman was. And of course, she found me crying and such..so she reached out to me and comforted me. I was so grateful for her advice and her always looking out for me. It was a short time though but I wouldn't forget it..I wouldn't forget it at all."
Skylar's mind reverted back to the passionate sex she had with Layla: Her soft touch, her soft open mouthed kisses on her skin and then the way they would have fun with Layla's "toys" as Layla would pound into her flesh over and over when Skylar would have mind-blowing, screaming orgasms. However, when she saw Roman's face, remembering the entire threesome she snapped out of her thoughts. She could feel Drew's arms wrapped around her as they both laid on the couch.
"I can only imagine how Roman is dealing with all of this right now." Drew mumbled.
Just then Skylar's stomach was built with anger and upset. She wished she could have ripped all that hair off Roman's hair and keep slapping his stupid, smug, ugly face.
Ok maybe it wasn't ugly but everything about him was. Who the fuck did he think he was, treating her like that? However, listening to Layla's advice, she decided to just let that anger go and she focused on the love of her life.
"I know he's going through a lot, but I'm sure he will be ok. After all, you've always told me how strong he can be and he always pulls through."
"Yeah, I guess you're right." Drew sighed, pulling his fiance' into his chest, kissing the top of her head. "Maybe I should go see Layla tomorrow."
"I think that would be a good idea. Give her a hug for me ok?" She batted her brown eyes. Drew chuckled and kissed her again.
"I will, don't you worry about that."
It was quiet for a few minutes until Skylar spoke up again, looking into Drew's brown eyes.
"I love you so much." She whispered.
Drew responded by kissing her soft lips, forming a smile on his handsome face as they decided to turn on the TV to watch a movie, taking their mind off of everything and in between.
The next morning, Drew got out the shower and he was finished getting dressed, fixing his tie as Skylar was asleep, snoring quietly. He looked over at her and kissed the top of her head again, grabbing his briefcase and his coat and he put on his dark shades, grabbing his keys and heading out to work. But first, he would make a quick stop to the hospital.
After signing in to the front desk, he searched Layla's room and saw that she was still sleeping and Roman was nowhere in sight. He closed the door behind him and he stroked the top of her head. As she slowly opened her eyes, she looked up to see Drew and she instantly formed a snarl.
"Well, someone's a little cranky this morning." Drew chuckled, pulling a chair out the corner and then he sat down in front of Layla. Layla sat up, rolling her eyes. She was sick but she sure as hell wasn't going to act like it.
"I'm not cranky, but with the sight of you right now, I'm more than just a little "cranky." She huffed, sitting up, wincing.
"Now Layla, we're friends, remember?"
"We're associates, Drew. You're Roman's friend, let's get that straight. The only reason I'm getting along with you is for the sake of Roman. Other than that, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near your ass."
"Now are you really sure you want to be a smart ass right now, especially from what you did and it would be such a shame if Roman found out.."
Layla narrowed her eyes at Drew. "I've done nothing wrong. If anything, you are the one that's guilty."
"I don't quite remember, sweetheart." He smirked. Layla wanted to grab his face and rip out his eyes.
"Why don't we start off back in high school: When you got so drunk at that Halloween party one night..I took you home that night because Roman had to take care of his brother who went to the hospital because of alcohol poisoning..and then as I drove you home, you kept grabbing onto me and then you forced me to stop the car and you tore off my costume, my bra and panties, you fucking raped me..'' Layla hissed.
Drew's eye color darken as he narrowed his eyes at her. "I told you I was sorry. Besides, you asked for it anyway."
"Yeah sure, that's what you wanted for me to believe. But you and I both know the truth. The only reason why I didn't tell Roman about this, is because I wasn't going to hurt Roman that way. I would rather die from the cancer than hurt Roman."
"Well he's got nothing to worry about." Drew shrugged.
"You're right..he doesn't. But Skylar does." Layla smirked. "She'll wise up to your tricks one day and then when she finds out you really are, she'll drop your ass and you'll see my spirit, laughing."
Drew went over and wrapped his hands around her throat, applying pressure. "Listen here, you fucking dyke. Skylar is my problem, my responsibility, and my fiance'! She is not going anywhere."
Layla should have been in fear but instead, she laughed at him. "You know I'm paying for a lot of things. I admit, I've done some messed up things and so has Roman, but you act like you are so much better than everyone else, don't you? Skylar a good person. You and I both know deep down, you don't deserve her."
"Shut it, dyke." He hissed.
"I wonder if she would ever forgive you for what you did to the first girl you were in a relationship with? What's her name, Madison Rayne? When you got her pregnant, and then you pushed her down the steps because of the fact that she wanted to keep the baby and you didn't... I saw the whole thing happen myself of course and then when I threatened to tell the police, you held a knife to my jugular vein, and then you raped me yet again."
"Shut up!" He snarled. His face was red and his eyes were glimmering with anger.
"Ooh did I strike a nerve?" Layla taunted, coughing. "Don't be such a pussy, Drew. Man up and own up to what you did. If you truly loved Skylar, tell her the truth."
Drew's nostrils flared and he let go of her throat. "It's a good thing you're going to die anyway. You're not ruining what I have with Skylar."
He walked off and then closed the door behind Layla. He grabbed his dark brown hair and then he stalked out of the hospital, not signing out or anything. He needed to get away from everyone at the moment. He stepped outside into the spring mid morning air and then he made a few business calls as he unlocked the door to his car. After he finished with that, he called up his beautiful Maria.
"Hey babe. Do you have some time for me after work? You know how I get sometimes?"
"How about some coffee?" She purred. Drew smirked.
"Oh I can think of something else other than coffee?" He grinned as he pulled out the driveway.
At the same time, Layla rubbed her throat. Roman had stayed with her all night until the doctor forced him to leave. She may have still been angry with Roman for handling the situation with Skylar but she still loved that man. Each day she was slowly losing her oxygen and she would often cough up more blood. But she wasn't afraid to die. She just hoped to God Roman and Skylar would stop being so hard headed and listen to her advice. Just then, she could feel her heart stopping and then she saw a whiteness in her eyes. She smiled as she fell into a deep sleep. Despite her confrontation with Drew, she felt at peace now. Not only that, she knew that Drew wasn't going to get away with all that he's done. She knew that for a fact. But as of right now, God was calling for her and she was ready to leave.
"I'm home.." She said the last thing before the monitor stopped beeping.
About an hour later the nurse and the doctor came in and sighed.
"Time of death?" The doctor asked.
"10:45am." She sighed. "I'll call Mr. Reigns."
Even though Tampa Florida was a big city, well not so big but big enough, the news got around fast of Layla's death. During the meeting that Skylar was in at work, she could feel her heart stopping and then she asked to be excused early from the meeting, despite the daggers she was getting from her boss. She went into the bathroom and destroyed anything in sight, not giving a damn who looked at her funny. She was on her knees on the bathroom floor, crying her eyes out. She hadn't felt a greater pain like this since she lost her son at birth. And that was a greater pain more than anything.
Skylar told herself to pick herself back up and then she splashed water on her face and then she took a couple of shallow breaths. She brushed back her dark hair and then she blew her nose and washed her hands and her face again, leaving the bathroom. She looked at the mess she made though: The paper towel machine broke, tissue rolls all over the place and she almost broke the faucets on the sinks. Hell, she almost smashed her fist into the mirror.
But she had to reel in that part of her back in. She wouldn't let her emotions take a hold of her again and get her in serious trouble. She was an adult now and that's how she was going to start behaving. However, despite being angry at Roman, she should at least call to leave him a voice mail, letting her know she's sorry about his loss. After all, she wasn't that heartless.
She made her way back into the office and then she started dialing his number. It rang a few times and as she drummed her nails on the cherry wood colored desk. It went straight to voice mail.
"Shit." Skylar cursed after she heard the beep. She decided to make this short and brief. She didn't want to be too cold but she wasn't going to be entirely loving towards him either. After all, she was still pretty upset with him for how he treated her back at the hospital.
"Listen Roman..I heard about what happened with Layla. I'm really sorry. I know you must be going through a lot right now so I'll just leave you with that."
She sent her message and then she hung up.
Roman had left the hospital, not too long ago. He kissed his wife Layla, who was no longer with him. As soon as the doctor called him, he rushed out of his meeting and went right up to her room. He hasn't been getting that much sleep lately and he hasn't been so much focused on his business. His only focus was Layla. But as soon as the doctor called him and told him the news, he wasn't as prepared as he should have been.
He refused to cry but the pain he had for her was in definite silence as he stroked her hand and kissed it. He sighed, getting up as he left her room for a moment. He knew he had funeral arrangements to prepare for and that he needed to do them soon. He decided the funeral would be held next week on Saturday.
After a long drive home and talking with the funeral home and among other things, including calling her family and friends, he made it home. He felt so mentally drained. Just then, he saw a voicemail from Skylar. He groaned in irritation, pinching the bridge of his nose. He knew he should just delete the message but for some reason, this message she sent was important to him so he decided to listen to see what she had to say and then it would be up to him if he choose to call her back.
"W-wait? You're moving up the wedding?"
"Yes, of course I am." Skylar beamed happily.
Skylar was hanging out with her best friend from boarding school, Cosmo. Cosmo was a punk girl with bright long green hair, green eyes, pale as a vampire skin and a bit chunky, and she wore a few piercings and she worked at a nightclub. The two stayed best friends after they graduated. Skylar told Cosmo everything, including her tryst with Layla and Roman Reigns. Cosmo didn't judge her of course, hell she was jealous a bit herself, if she didn't already have a boyfriend.
Anyway, they were on their way to Walgreens, and she picked up Cosmo because Cosmo's boyfriend was sick and she needed some flu medicine.
"But why?" She asked.
Skylar sighed as she drove. "I'm going to tell you the same thing I told Drew: Why not?" Life is short and well..ever since Layla died not too long ago, I realized I want to be with Drew for the rest of my life."
"Are you sure you're not just marrying him because you are trying to forget about Roman and how much he hurt you? I mean, I know he was a jerk but still, you shouldn't shut him out like that."
As they parked the car, they hopped out, heading into the store.
"Roman can handle his own problems, Cosmo. There's not much I can do." She sighed, helping Cosmo find some NyQuil. "What does your boyfriend take?"
"Anything that will knock him out basically. Then when he's knocked out, I can suck his cock bone dry without him cumming so quickly in 3 seconds. I mean seriously, I've tried putting a cock ring on him yet he still finds a way to cum on my face and in my hair." Cosmo winked. Skylar laughed.
"You are such a slut." Skylar winked.
"This coming from the girl who fucked her hot Adonis Principal?" Cosmo chuckled.
Skylar put her hand up to silence her and Cosmo shrugged, looking for the medicine while Comso decided to look for some more piercing jewelry. Just then Skylar heard her phone buzz.
"Call from: Jackass" The voice caller told her. Roman's picture popped up on the caller ID and Skylar sighed, answering the call.
"Hello." She said.
"Listen Skylar.." He sighed. "Thank you for the message and umm...the funeral will be taken place on Saturday next week. You're welcome to come if you choose to."
"Thank you.." She nodded. And then he hung up the phone. She rubbed her temple and then she went with Cosmo to find the medicine she needed. When she found Cosmo, she was being goofy, wearing sunglasses and being dorky.
"So you'll never guess who called me?" She said.
"Who might that be?" Cosmo said, trying to twerk as she put the glasses on her butt.
"Roman." She sighed. Cosmo looked up.
"Man...so what did he say?" She said, taking the shades with her as they walked down the aisle.
"Well, he just said I could come to Layla's funeral if I wanted to." She fiddled with her black nails.
"I think you should go. You really did care about Layla and this would bring you some closure. For you and for Drew. I know he was friends with them."
''Yeah. That would be a good idea" Skylar agreed."I'm just not sure about seeing him again..just the fact that..well.."
Cosmo needed no other words from her as she pulled her arm around her, squeezing her arm with love.
"Trust me, it will get better before you know it." Cosmo said as they walked down the aisle.
"For my sake, I hope your right." Skylar said as they continued walking through the store.
