Chapter Ten
Famous Last Words
"I'm not afraid to keep on living.
I'm not afraid to walk this world alone."
Victoria Vega didn't remember driving home that Friday. She didn't remember how she made it through that weekend. But she woke up Monday with a new found strength. Tori did not want to go to school that day, but she decided not to spend the rest of her life in that bed.
She could tell how worried her family was, but they must've figured out what had happened, considering that none of them had asked her. None of them really said anything to her that morning, even Trina was shockingly silent.
Tori was almost always on the brink of tears that morning, but somehow she managed to keep her cool. Before she knew it, they had arrived at the school. Trina cleared her throat as she parked, but when Tori didn't look up she spoke anyways. "Hey lil sis. Let me know if you want to leave early. I won't mind driving you home."
Tori looked up and gave her sister a small smile. "Thanks."
With a small nod, Trina Vega got out of the car and headed off into the school. Tori slowly followed. She didn't look up, though. She was afraid she'd be reminded of Jade and she didn't want that. Vega had no idea how she was going to make it through the day.
"And I'm so weak.
Is it hard understanding that I'm incomplete?"
It was in her first class that she broke. It was Sikowitz's, the place where she met Jadelyn West. She was doing fine, until fifteen minutes into the class when she looked up and saw Jade's empty chair. Tori ran out of the room crying, and Caterina Valentine ran after her.
"Tori!" The small red-head said as she hugged the taller girl.
"I can't-I... She should be here." Tori sobbed out, shaking. Her voice broke, but she didn't care. Cat was in pain too, after all she had just lost her best friend.
"I know..." Cat hugged her friend tighter. This was a side of Cat barely anyone had seen, but it was hard for her to be happy when she had lost the person who she'd been closest to for years.
"I miss her so much." Tori cried out, standing still in the main hallway of the school, her back to the doors. She hadn't heard them open, but there was suddenly someone standing behind her.
"Really? Cause that's a huuuuge shock, Vega." A voice with venom said. A voice that Tori never thought she'd hear again.
"Jade?"
"Jade!"
Authors Note: Just in case you couldn't tell, the lyrics are used instead of line breaks.
I couldn't sleep until I uploaded this chapter. But I don't have my own computer. So I typed this up on my Kindle, and edited on my iPhone. So if you catch any mistakes that I missed please let me know and I will fix it.
Yes, Jade is alive! "But why act like she's dead?" It's needed for the plot. I'll explain at the end of this story, I promise.
How she 'died' is explained next chapter, but I did my best to make it obvious in the last chapter.
I'll upload the next chapter in the next few days. Hopefully it will be uploaded from a computer.
And good job! Cherrprn4 won my little contest. The theme was that all the chapter titles are song titles.
Thanks for reading. As I've said, this story is no where near over. I do apologize for jerking you around last chapter, but it was needed.
And of course, thank you to the reviewers of the last chapter: Rebecca M Mesecher, Lauren Kash, TimelessReader, Victorious Rox101, ThatRandomAsian, and Lucas98.
