Are you going to do it or just continue staring? I groaned at my own thought while standing on the roof across from the bank. I didn't need the money now, but I did need the distraction. The remembrance of the alien girl running right to his arms was irritating, but then there was the chance of doing the heist to bump into her.
"Ah hell Red X you're not even in it" I plopped down on the edge with my feet dangling. If I just kept my composure tonight, then my mind would not be in this scramble. It was irritating for someone like me, someone who only thought of himself, to be thinking about someone else.
An intense roaring broke my thoughts as I peeked down the alley way. The one and only boy wonder flew through without hesitation. I gave it a few more seconds to see the other titans come by, but nothing.
"Interesting." I jumped to my feet. "Guess I'm about to get the distraction I need."
I slammed my communicator and hooked it to my side without slowing my speed. There was a feeling he would turn his off, but I had hoped. 'Why would he want you to find him?' my mind spoke the hurtful words. 'You're the reason for this.'
I was causing myself to feel more of the sadness before I felt my body become heavy. The feeling was a de ja vu of the time Robin had made me feel bad for not being his "girl-friend".
I landed with no problem but noticed the distance I still had before hitting the city. The bright building in the night teased me with their farness. I couldn't even hear the motorcycle anymore that was giving the way of which he went.
A vibration on my side jolted me as I snatched the communicator into my hand. 'Cyborg' my frown deepened. Instead of answering I turn mine off. They were worried I understood, but I could not face them now. I moved my feet forward towards the city.
'Was he chasing someone?' I questioned in my mind while I pursued him. I never saw anyone else and for someone to advert my eyes was uncommon.
The engine of his bike was quieting down as was my pursuit. It was better to stay unnoticed until understanding of the situation comes to play. I watched as he leaned his bike onto the kickstand and took his helmet off.
"SLADE!" he screamed out into the night. I never dealt with the guy myself, but I have heard stories. I watched his head shoot around before we made eye contact.
'Way to go unnoticed'
"You!" the tone in his voice took a different tune then when he was looking for Slade. There was a warning that told me I shouldn't continue this.
"Hey kid, looking for someone?" couldn't say I tired. I squatted quickly to avoid his birdarang that flew over my head before flipping back away from his kick. "I thought this had to do with Slade?" Another attempt from him made me fly backwards.
"What did you do to blackmail her?" he was enraged. The sentence caught me off guard consequently it gave him the opportunity to make contact. I went hard against the ground but didn't have time to absorb what happened before having to roll from his staff.
"I don't know what you are talking about kid" I quickly flipped onto my feet to avoid another hit. "blackmailing isn't on my list of crimes." As Robin charged forward I flipped over his head and quickly shot a constrictive restraint from behind. "If I want something I get it done myself" I watched as he fell to his knees as the restraint wrapped his legs.
"There is no way she would go behind our backs on her own accord" he spoke through his teeth.
"Ah, now I get it," I straightened as I towered over him. "You found out about the alien girl and me" a smirk formed behind my mask. I watched as he struggled to stand with fail. "The meet ups were of free will" His hair fell forward shielding his expression making it impossible to read him.
"Liar!" he lunges forward with his sharp birdarang in hand. 'Sneaky kid' I thought impressed as he no longer had anything holding him back. I let my arrogance get the best of me to where Robin was able to get another hit in.
I made a hard impact into the wall causing a burst of air to escape harshly out of my lungs while I slumped a little. He wasn't holding back. He wasn't slowing down. I quickly maneuvered to my right to avoid his fist that connected to brick wall.
I place my left foot flat against the wall to propel myself forward to avoid another swing. The sound of metal hitting echoed through the alley. My back didn't stay to him long as I unclipped some of my shuriken from my belt and quickly turned to him.
Throwing my shuriken gave me the upper hand in distracting him so I was able to grab his staff, push with my palm into his chest and throw him from me. He didn't have such an ungrateful fumble like me, but he did wobble while steadying. I threw the staff to the side causing it to clank onto the ground.
"She would not have gone to you on her own." We stood face to face while we both caught our breath. I would be lying if I said I wasn't stating to feel the pain radiate throughout my body.
"You don't know your teammates" his face screwed a little. The words that were spoken hit a cord. I kept my eyes on his hand while it moved towards his belt. "You don't get how you make them feel" I prepared myself for his next move.
"Shut up-," he gritted through his teeth. I prepared myself for his next move. A smoke pellet went off and I shot an adhesive X.
"Ugh," something sharp hit me and I stumbled forward lost in the smoke.
I finally hit the city life where few people walked the quiet streets. Some of them stared at me as I had my arms wrapped around my body. I had no idea where to go from here. I was unable to fly due to my emotions. Being on low ground made it impossible to pin point where Robin could be.
I heard a low explosion echoing through the night and picked up my speed. My heart was pounding not because of the running, but anticipation of what I was running towards. Moving forward I saw a figure coming from the alley way a few feet ahead.
"Robin?" I quietly spoke his name. The figure was pushing a motorcycle. "Robin!" I spoke louder this time.
"Starfire?" he looked a mess with his hair and red goo like substance on his clothes. The way he spoke out my name was on an exhale of air.
"What happened?" I ran quicker towards him scared he was injured.
"Nothing," he kicked the stand up and started his bike. "Let's go" I was hesitant. The bike roared to life in the quiet night, but I was able to pick up a low groan from the alley way. The voice was familiar.
"W-what happened?" my words drifted as I stared into the darkness of the alley.
"Nothing to concern you. Now let's go" he wouldn't look at me. Instead of moving to him I took one step back. "Starfire." 'The voice. I know that voice'
"It's not Slade that put you through this," I muttered.
"Starfire go back to the tower." He was demanding. What happened in that alley way?
"Robin I'm sorry for all this," tears started to fill my eyes. "It was all my fault for what-,"
"Starfire go back home!" my mouth shut quickly as I took another step back. "Slade got away and I'm going to go look for him." He revved the engine again.
"The person in the alley-,"
"Is none of your concern." He cut me off quickly. This time I felt his eyes on me as I stared into the darkness. "If you go in there then don't go back to the tower." He roared away before I could say anything. There was nothing to say. The words pierced through my heart.
I stood alone with no one around until another sound hit my ears. He was hurt it was clear, but I couldn't move. 'Don't come back to the tower' his voice repeated in my head. I already caused trouble and now I got someone hurt because of my lies. My feet turned towards the sound without looking back to see if Robin was watching.
