So I don't really know what to say other than hi and I know that it's been a while but here I am.
As Santana rouses from sleep she turns over in the spacious bed to snuggle further into Brittany's warmth, only to find that she's no longer there. The cold sheets on Brittany's side of the bed inform her that she hasn't been in bed for a while. She sits up and the sheet slips down exposing her bare chest. Santana blushes, remembering why she was naked and who she got naked with. She bites at her lip as a smile creeps onto her face at the thought of what they got up to last night.
Getting curious about Brittany's whereabouts, she clambers out of bed. Santana roots through her suitcase for something to where, reminding herself to unpack later. She slips on fresh underwear and goes to take out some shorts when she spies Brittany's suitcase lying over-turned across the room. Suddenly wearing something that belongs to Brittany seems like a much better idea.
When Santana selects a t-shirt and puts it on it is a little too big on her, which she expected, so it ends perfectly, just below her underwear. With that Santana skips out of the room to find Brittany. As she wanders down the hall she makes a mental note to examine the pictures on the wall at some point. She's sure that she'll find some adorable ones of a childhood Brittany.
Santana frowns when she finds the kitchen empty too. It doesn't even look like any food has been taken out or cooked which is strange because she knows that Brittany loves her breakfast. Santana looks around for any clues that Brittany had even been in there. Then her eyes catch a note stuck to the fridge door. Taking it out from beneath the magnet, Santana smiles at the loopy scrawl that is unmistakably Brittany's. Santana runs her eyes over the message, smile growing by the second.
Good afternoon, sleepyhead! Believe me when I say that all I wanted was to wake up next to you but there is only so long I can watch you sleep without feeling like an absolute creeper and you looked so peaceful so waking you up just wasn't an option. It's just past noon now so how about we skip breakfast and you meet me for lunch on the lake whenever you get this? Hopefully I'll see you soon if you ever decide to wake up…I musta really worn you out last night huh?;) kisses – B.
Santana's body practically hums at the memory of last night. She had never felt so alive. Brittany made her feel everything everywhere, she had never felt so connected to someone during sex. If she was being honest, she had been a little worried that she wouldn't be able to return the favour. She knew that she wanted to do it but after she had so confidently told Brittany that it was her turn, the jitters set in.
Brittany had cupped her face and looked at her with so much warmth to let her know that she didn't have to do anything she wasn't ready for but that only spurred her on more. She didn't care if Brittany had to show her the ropes, all that mattered was that she was going to make her feel good.
And Santana felt 100% certain that she did. She had been tentative at first, gasping at the first couple of strokes with her fingers. Santana wanted to take her time to explore but Brittany was in no state to wait around. She guided Santana's hand to her clit so that she could put her fingers to could use. Santana had been in awe of the sounds that her fingers were eliciting from the blonde. She spent some time rubbing her clit until Brittany grabbed her wrist and settled her fingers at her entrance, watching Santana's eyes as she did so.
Santana doesn't think that anything will ever feel as good as being inside Brittany for the first time. Well, maybe the second or tenth or one hundredth time! Basically, she loved touching Brittany and making her feel good and watching as she quickly unravelled on her fingers. It really had been the best night and when they snuggled together to fall asleep Santana had no doubt in her mind that she had fallen for the girl.
Breaking free of her day dreaming, Santana puts the note down on the counter. She contemplates whether or not she should put on more clothes than just the t-shirt and underwear she is currently sporting. She had really wanted Brittany to see her like this and pretend to be all innocent like she didn't know what it would do to her.
Santana looks up at the clock and sees that it's just after one! Brittany had been waiting on her for an hour now. She dashes off to the bedroom and grabs a bikini.
"Screw it," she murmurs to herself as she makes her way back through the house and takes off running towards the lake. Brittany really isn't going to care that she isn't wearing any pants. If anything she'll enjoy it.
Brittany is standing on the dock when she hears the beat of quick footsteps behind her. She giggles to herself, she knows that Santana is rushing because she feels bad for keeping Brittany waiting but she really doesn't mind. Brittany had been able to spend her time setting up lunch and getting a quick dip in the water while she waited.
She turns around when she hears the footsteps getting closer. Brittany is taken aback but not at all disappointed to see Santana running towards her in her favourite unicorn t-shirt and a cute pair of undies. It was one thing to appreciate Santana's body in the privacy of their bed but this way she got to see her legs in all their glory as the sun glowed on her tan skin.
Santana didn't even attempt to slow down as she ran and jumped into Brittany's arms. She was lucky her girl was strong or else she is sure they would have ended up in the water. Brittany spins them around once before resting her hands under Santana's thighs as she wraps her legs around Brittany's waist to make sure she was securely in place. Santana tips her head back and laughs joyously until Brittany comes to a stop. Brittany watches in amazement at the beautiful sound coming from the woman shaking with laughter in her arms. Brittany can practically see to Santana's back teeth with how happy she is.
Santana drops her head back down and glides her hands from the nape of Brittany's neck until they are tickling along her collarbone. Brittany twitches her shoulders in response to prevent Santana from tickling her to death.
Brittany leans her head forward and rests her forehead to Santana's shoulder. She tilts her head up a little to look at her as she says, "Morning," in what Santana thinks is the sexiest way possible. Although it is highly likely that she will find everything that Brittany does sexy now. Santana kisses into Brittany's soft hair.
"I thought you said it was afternoon?" Santana playfully quips back.
"I did, didn't I?" Brittany affirms. "Well then I guess there is no point in me asking for a good morning kiss then is there?" Brittany asks as she removes her head from Santana's shoulder to look at her with a smirk.
"You can have a good afternoon kiss?"
"I'm pretty sure that's not a thing, San."
"Well then I guess you better make it a thing because I'm not gonna let you put me down until I get one." Santana puckers her lips at Brittany playfully and closes her eyes.
"You've got no argument here," Brittany says as she leans in and pecks Santana's lips with the gentlest of kisses.
Santana opens her eyes, lips still puckered. She squints one eye open and raises one eyebrow with the silent question, is that it?
Brittany sends Santana an exaggerated eye roll and leans back in, this time pressing her lips firmly against Santana's. Santana hums into the kiss as she finally gets what she wants. Brittany moves her lips to capture Santana's bottom lip between her own. They trade sweet kisses until Brittany starts to feel a twinge in the muscles in her arms and breaks away from the kiss to put Santana down. She doesn't go far though as she keeps the brunette wrapped up in her arms.
"Sorry, but I have to keep some arm strength for lunch."
"You couldn't have made a sandwich that heavy, Britt," Santana laughs.
"Not for my sandwich, silly." Brittany steps to the side so Santana can see off the end of the dock where a row boat is rocking gently in the water. Santana squeezes Brittany's waist in excitement.
"Are we having lunch in the boat?"
"Nope, we are having lunch at the place the boat will bring us to. I have everything set up on one of those mini islands out on the lake."
Brittany points off to a little piece of land in the distance.
"This has got to be the most romantic thing ever."
Santana looks up at Brittany adoringly, not being able to believe how lucky she has to be to get to be with this girl.
"I'm sure you could out romantic me if you wanted to."
"Now that is a challenge that I like the sound of."
Brittany smiles at the ground like a goof. She takes Santana's hand in hers and tugs her towards the boat. Brittany puts one foot down into the boat and uses the other one on the dock to keep her and the boat steady. She holds onto to Santana's hand tight as she hops down into the boat. Brittany took the seat in the stern of the boat while Santana took the one in the bow.
Brittany unties them and starts to gently row them across the lake to their destination. It's peaceful out on the water with neither of them feeling the need to break the silence. Santana leans back and props her elbows up on the side of the boat. She reaches out and skims her fingertips across the water.
Brittany gazes fondly at the serene look on Santana's face. She loses her rhythm for a moment and they end up turning way left. Santana notices and looks at Brittany.
"Brit, you ok?"
"Just admiring the view, babe."
Brittany trails her eyes down Santana's body, lingering on her exposed legs. Santana blushes, tucks her feet under the bench and pulls the t-shirt down as far as it will go.
"I completely forgot what I'm wearing. I can't believe I'm on the most romantic date of my life and I'm hardly wearing any clothes." Santana sweeps her hair back behind her ear and looks up at Brittany bashfully.
Brittany stops rowing and puts her hands on Santana's knees.
"Hey, you look beautiful, as always. You know it really doesn't matter to me what you wear."
"I just hope it doesn't get cold."
"Don't worry about that, I brought extra blankets, they're on the island. So you can get all wrapped up and you won't even know that you're not wearing pants." Brittany winks at her and everything is all right again.
….
When they reach the island Brittany has to drag the boat ashore as there is no dock to tie it to. Brittany guides them up from the shore and into the shelter of the trees.
Santana gasps when they come to a stop. There is a large fire pit set into the ground with spacious and comfy looking sofas on either side of it. A white canopy attached to the trees hangs over the space making it intimate but not too detached from the nature around them. A large blanket lays spread out on the ground beside the pit with a big picnic basket set down in the centre.
Santana strokes the back of Brittany's hand with her thumb.
"Brittany, you really didn't have to go to all this trouble," Santana admonishes.
"I wanted to though, I feel like we need to celebrate us and your fresh start of course."
Santana simply nods in agreement.
"Let's eat then."
They settle down on the blanket and Brittany proceeds to take out container after container of food.
"Britt, that basket much be magical, you couldn't possibly have fit that all in there!"
"I did and there's more." Brittany then takes out a bottle of champagne and two glasses. "We can have this after we enjoy all this food."
"Where did you even get all of this? I wasn't asleep long enough for you to go out and get all of this," Santana states.
"I may have told my mom that I was planning on bringing you out here and she all but insisted that she bring us out some supplies."
"Well then it's really your mom I should be thanking."
"Hey, I'll have you know that I put it all in the basket by myself," Brittany says with mock offense.
"And you did a wonderful job of it too."
They tuck in to the variety of dishes that had been prepared for them. Santana was particularly partial to the couscous while Brittany made herself a BLT. They chatted easily as they ate but they soon discovered that they would never get through all the food.
"Ok, we need to stop," Brittany declares.
"Why?" Santana asks around a mouthful of Caesar salad.
"Because otherwise we won't have room for desert," Brittany says coyly as she takes out a container full of strawberries. Santana's eyes widen with delight.
"Yum, it is the perfect weather for strawberries. Oh and the champagne! My my ms. Pierce, aren't you organised?"
Brittany sends her a devilish wink in reply as she pops open the champagne and pours them each a glass, handing one to Santana. Brittany holds up her glass and Santana mimics her.
"A toast," she declares, "to us. Have you anything else to add?"
"To new beginnings and..," Santana pauses and looks intensely at Brittany, "to being here with you."
Brittany's breath falters at the look in Santana's eyes.
"And to being in lo…uh...such a lovely place together." Brittany winces at her almost declaration. She knows that she is in love with Santana, part of her has known for a long time but they've just gotten to a great place, she doesn't want to scare her off.
Santana lets out a small sigh in disappointment. Half of her knew exactly what Brittany wanted to say because she felt the exact same way but the other half of her was afraid that she was completely misreading the situation. She watches as Brittany withdraws into herself a little and begins to look distant.
"Well, cheers!" she says happily to break Brittany out of her reverie. Brittany jerks in surprise and clinks her glass with Santana's before taking a long swig out of her glass.
They eat some strawberries quietly together, the mood having shifted a little south. They find that they don't have the stomach for too many after all the food that they ate. Brittany finishes a strawberry and lies down on the blanket, quickly getting lost in her thoughts. Santana doesn't know whether to try and draw her out or let her have some time to herself.
"Hey, I have a bit of a cramp from all the food so I'm gonna take a walk around the island," Santana informs Brittany who then props herself up on her elbows.
"Do you want me to come with you?" Brittany asks curiously, afraid that she has ruined the great time they were having.
"No, it's ok, you should take a little nap or something to sleep off the food baby."
Santana let's Brittany know that she is not trying to avoid her by leaning over and caressing her cheek and tucking a piece of hair back behind her ear. Brittany's eyes soften at the contact and she nods her understanding.
Santana wanders back to the shore and chooses to turn right in order to walk around the perimeter of the island. She stays close to the shore so as not to get lost, the island isn't very big but she doesn't really want to take her chances. She wades in and out of the water as she feels like it. She even skips some stones when she comes across any that look like they have good skipping potential. Being here makes Santana feel like a child again and she remembers all the summers she spent in the countryside with her family. Santana spots some flowers growing in the brush and goes to examine them. They knows them to be Spring Beauties with their five white petals and flecks of purple. She picks a few of them and holds them in her hand as she continues her walk around the island.
Before long Santana can see the row boat in the distance so she knows she is almost back to their spot. When she gets back to their blanket she sits down beside Brittany who stirs and sits up.
"Did you enjoy your nap?" Santana asks. Brittany nods gently.
"Did you enjoy your walk?"
Santana nods and lifts up the flowers into Brittany's view.
"I got these for you," Santana says with a shy smile. A huge grin splits across Brittany's face as she takes them from Santana's hands.
"They're beautiful, San. But I think we should share them."
Brittany takes one of the flowers and slots it into the hair behind Santana's ear. Santana laughs and strikes a silly pose for Brittany to laugh at.
"How do I look?" Santana jokes.
"Stunning," Brittany whispers mesmerised. Santana blushes and takes one of the two flowers left and puts it in the same place in Brittany's hair.
"Do I look stunning now too?" Brittany jokes and sticks out her tongue.
"You already were but the flower definitely adds a little something extra."
A breeze sweeps through the trees and Santana shivers raising goose bumps on her legs. She rubs them to generate some warmth.
"What time would you say it is?" Brittany asks.
"I dunno, around five? Maybe a little later?" Santana shrugs.
"I think you're probably right. Wanna get the fire pit going or do you want to go back up to the house?"
"An evening by the fire sounds perfect."
Brittany smiles, she's glad that Santana doesn't want to leave their little paradise just yet, especially now that she is feeling better about what happened earlier.
Brittany sets to work on getting the fire lit while Santana moves onto one of the sofas, picking up a blanket to wrap around herself. Santana doesn't settle back into the sofa until Brittany finishes and sits down beside her for her to cuddle into. Santana swings her legs over Brittany's lap and tucks her face against her neck inhaling everything Brittany.
Brittany's heart swells and she presses her cheek against the top of Santana's head affectionately. Santana begins to pepper kisses across Brittany's neck and up to her ear making Brittany giggle and squirm away from her.
"You're so bold," Brittany laughs out as she pinches Santana's leg.
"Ow! You did not just pinch me!" Santana squeals.
"There is more where that came from if you don't stop tickling me with your kisses!" Brittany proceeds to poke and prod Santana anywhere she can get her until Santana is falling backwards and away from her to lie flat on the sofa.
"Ok! Ok! I concede!" Santana shouts.
"I win," Brittany laughs as she lies down beside Santana and wraps her arms around her.
Brittany begins to gently stroke up and down Santana's back under the blanket. Brittany looks into Santana's eyes and feels overwhelmed with all the feelings she has for her.
"Every single moment here has been perfect, Santana and I have you to thank for that," Brittany admits.
"Really? I would change one thing," Santana replies.
Brittany freezes a little. What if Santana would change what happened between them last night? She had been certain that they had both felt amazing that she hadn't really felt the need to confirm it with Santana this morning. Maybe she should have.
"What would you change?" Brittany asks nervously, a crease appearing in her brow.
"I would add one more thing to the toast we made earlier," Santana whispers to her.
"Oh yeah? What would you add?" Brittany sighs out with relief.
Santana grazes her finger along Brittany's collar bone and moves her left hand out from between them to rest on Brittany's waist.
"To being in love..," Santana husks out as her eyes flicker up to meet Brittany's, "…with you."
….
I know that this is a lot shorter than recent chapters but I figure it's better than nothing until I get back into a flow with it. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed if there is anyone still reading it :)
