You Looked At Me And I Was Done

Chapter 10

Jax

Jax practically skipped up to Tara, who was unloading her backpack at her locker and leaned against the one next to hers. She looked up and the smile on her face made his heart skip a beat.

"Hey," he said, smiling back to her. How cool, he thought to himself scathingly.

"Morning," Tara said, smiling back, "I had a lot of fun last night."

Jax smiled and nodded. It still felt slightly surreal that he was finally dating Tara.

As Tara finished grabbing notebooks and pens out of her locker, Jax looked her over. She was wearing a pair of low slung jeans, a cheap pair of flip flops and a shirt that hugged her curves. Her hair was curly today...wild. She looked fucking incredible. Jax wanted to bury his fingers in her hair and kiss her for all he was worth.

He contemplated doing that, but the bell rang, notifying them that first period started in five minutes.

"Come on," Jax said as Tara clicked her locker shut, "I will walk you to first."

Tara smiled and then leaned forward and brushed her lips against his lightly.

"I thought I would just get it over with," Tara said, smirking.

Jax smiled and pulled her closer again, burying his fingers in her curls and wrapping his other arm around her waist, kissing her deeply. Tara responded to the kiss eagerly and it seemed like they were in their own world.

Until someone cleared their throat and made a disapproving clucking sound.

Tara jumped away from Jax even though he tried to hold onto her and flushed in embarrassment.

"Keep it clean, Miss Knowles and Mr. Teller," Mr. Garvey scolded as he entered his classroom. Tara nodded and turned to Jax shamefaced. Jax chuckled at her guilty expression and said, "Miss Knowles, you are blushing."

"I guess we got carried away," Tara said, walking slowly towards her first class with Jax beside her. Jax wanted to beg to ditch for the day with her, but he didn't want to do that so close to them being together. He knew she took school seriously. He wouldn't pressure her.

Tara reached her class with only a minute to spare, "You better hurry for your class," she said to him, looking worried. Adorable.

"I'll get there when I get there," Jax said, leaning forward a tucking a curl behind her ear.

Tara smiled and in a teasing voice, "Thanks for walking me to class."

She leaned forward and pecked his lips lightly before scurrying into the class before the bell rang and Jax smiled as he backed away from the room and headed towards his first class.

"She is just another biker slut," a voice said to him in the quiet halls.

Jax turned and there was Kyle, leaning against a locker, obviously having seen Tara and Jax's displays of affection before her class.

Jax clenched his teeth and said, "Watch it, Hobart."

"She is smart and wears those pretty little dresses with cowgirl boots, but I realize now," Kyle said, amused, "Bikers get that girl hot. She is no different than a crow."

Jax would have fucking attacked him if he wasn't threatened with expulsion for his fighting. He had already attacked Hobart once in the halls here. If he did it again, he would be expelled and then he wouldn't see Tara at all.

"You're just fucking sorry you lost her man," Jax said, smirking at him, "It's obvious you're just jealous."

"Mr., Teller, Mr. Hobart," Ms. Hanning asked, sticking her head out, "Shouldn't you both be in class?"

Kyle glared once more at Jax and stalked down the hall and Jax spun and headed the opposite direction. Jax walked until he realized he had first hour with Kyle. If he went, the tension would brew and possibly explode in class.

Jax sighed and walked towards the parking lot to smoke a cigarette. Looked like he was skipping...at least first hour.

Tara

Tara walked into the lunchroom, going for the lunch line. As she waited, impatiently tapping her foot, Jill Delman walked up behind her smiling a saccharine smile that made Tara uneasy.

"Hey Jill," Tara greeted.

"Tara, how's it going?" she asked, cocking her head to the side, her eyes fixed.

"Okay," Tara said, "The test in Mr.-"

"I don't want to talk about school," Jill said, her tone hard. Tara felt confused...her and Jill never had a problem. In fact, they were P.E. pals.

"Jill, what's wrong? Did I do something?" Tara asked.

"How about moving in on Jax?" Jill snapped.

"Wh-what?" Tara asked, gaping, "You...you're dating Jax?"

Jill set her face and said, "I was...We slept together, but since you broke up with Kyle, Jax has his eyes set on you."

Tara flushed and said, "Oh...well, I...I didn't know. Maybe you should be talking to Jax?"

"I am talking to you," Jill responded, "You need to back off."

Tara flinched and said, "Jill...I really think you should talk to Jax. Clearly one of you is confused about what happened between you and what it meant."

"I think you are the one who is confused," Jill said, getting angrier and angrier, fury sparking from her eyes, "If you don't back the hell down, I will kick you as-"

"Hey babe," Jax said, sidling up next to Tara, wrapping his arm around her and kissing her temple. Tara froze and Jax glanced between Tara and Jill and said, "What are we talking about?"

Jill was glaring daggers at Tara and stalked off.

"You might want to steer clear of her," Jax said, turning to face Tara, "She looks like she might be a nasty piece of work."

"Yeah, about that," Tara grumbled, "Is there something going on between you two? She said-"

"No," Jax cut her off, "We...a couple of months ago we had a fling and that was it."

Tara looked at him and said, "She is pretty upset."

"Well, she lost me," Jax said, smirking, "Of course she is upset."

"I am glad nothing is wrong with your ego," Tara said, smiling up at him.

Jax chuckled and pulled her closer, leaning in for a kiss. Tara's heart beat frantically but then she thought of something.

"Do you normally have first lunch?" Tara asked, pulling away from Jax at the last minute.

Jax looked dazed for a moment and then said, "Uh, yeah, I ditched mine so I could eat with you."

Tara smiled and then said, "What about your class?"

"Not important," Jax murmured, pulling her close again and pressing his lips to hers.

Tara wanted to ask him what he meant, but she got lost in his urgent lips against hers.

Jax's lips moved expertly over hers, his fingers brushing through her hair softly, causing tingles to race down her spine. Tara shivered, clutching onto Jax for all she was worth. Suddenly everyone in the cafeteria fell away...hell, Tara didn't know if she was on earth anymore.

"Next!"

Tara jerked away from Jax, her lips swollen and her face flushed. Oh yeah...reality. They were in the middle of the cafeteria with almost two hundred people watching them.

"NEXT!" the lunch lady snapped again, much more impatiently. Jax pulled Tara towards the line and smirked as he grabbed her a tray and handed it to her. He grabbed one for himself and loaded it with food before they made their way towards the nearest table.

Tara allowed Jax to prod her in the right direction since she was still in a daze over that kiss. As they sat down, Tara realized a hush had fallen over the lunchroom and she glanced around to find that all Charming High's eyes were trained on them.

Tara hunched her shoulders and hunkered down as low as possible in her seat, willing herself invisible.

"Hey Quasimodo, what's with the hunching?" Jax said around a bite of food.

Tara flushed and then reached across the table and smacked him on the hand, "Jerk. Everyone is staring."

"Who cares?" Jax asked, shrugging.

Tara smiled, then decided he had a point and picked up her yogurt, spooning some in her mouth as she tried to calm down.

Tara glanced up and spotted Jill and a group of girls glaring daggers at her.

"Jax," Tara said, "I think you should talk to Jill. I don't like the way she is looking at me."

Jax glanced at Jill, catching her looking at Tara with murderous intent.

He sighed in defeat and looked back at Tara, "Fine. For you, anything."

Tara smirked and said, "How many angry ex flings will I have to deal with anyway?"

Jax stiffened and Tara flushed in embarrassment. Foot in mouth.

"Never mind," Tara said, focusing on her lunch.

Jax

Jax wanted the awkwardness to be done with, but he didn't want to change the subject and look like an ass. Tara had dropped it, thank God, because his answer would not make her happy or inclined to go on a second date with him.

"I'll talk to Jill," Jax said, hoping she would look at him.

She glanced up and smiled gratefully and said, "Thanks."

Jax nodded and leaned across the table and pecked her lips.

They finished their lunches and Jax walked her to her first afternoon class.

"I shouldn't have asked that," Tara said, anxiously, "You know, before about-"

"It's okay," Jax said, pulling her close and kissing her lips softly. He loved kissing her.

The first warning bell rang and Tara pulled back regretfully and asked, "See you after school?"

Jax nodded and Tara smiled and pecked his lips once more before walking into her class.

Jax walked away with a smile on his lips as he recalled Tara's lips on his.

After school, he wanted to go on another ride with her.

Jax grabbed his books, spotted Opie and jogged to catch up to him.

"Hey," Jax said, falling into stride next to him.

"Hey, we still hanging later?" Opie asked.

"I actually gotta bail on that plan," Jax said.

"Let me guess," Opie said, smirking, "Tara?"

Jax shot him a look and Opie chuckled and said, "It's cool. I get it. I was the same right when Donna and I first started dating."

"What are you talking about? You are still like that with Donna," Jax said, smirking.

"Whatever," Opie said.

They walked into class and Jax relaxed into his seat, zoning out the window and planning the evening with Tara in his mind instead of focusing on Algebra.

Thanks for reading! I love hearing from you all so leave me a review.
