Chapter ten: Are We Still Friends?

Morning…

Lucy just woke up when the nurse and a doctor came in. ˝Good morning, Miss Heartfilia. How are you feeling today?˝ Doctor asked.

˝Much better. Thank you.˝ Lucy replied. ˝Um…when will I be able to go home?˝

˝Well, actually…you're fine. You can go home today.˝

˝Really?˝

˝Yeah. But, you have to lay in bed, eat healthy and drink a lot of tea. You can't go to school for another two weeks. You recovered well but you're still pretty weak.˝ The doctor said.

˝Yes, doctor. Thank you for everything.˝ Lucy smiled as she slowly got up from the bed with the help of nurse.

He smiled and as he was about to leave he turned around ˝Is there anyone you want me to call?˝ He asked.

˝No, that's okay.˝ She shook her head.

˝Okay.˝ He opened the door and left.

In the school…

Gray was standing by his locker when Erza and Cana approached him.

˝Good morning, Gray.˝

˝'Morning, Gray.˝

˝Morning, girls.˝ He said quietly as he took his books out of the locker.

˝What's wrong, Gray?˝ Cana asked him.

˝Nothing…I…Erza, I'm sorry for how I acted yesterday…I was just…˝ Gray lowered his head and gripped his hand tight. Erza looked at him and took a step forward, placing her hands on Gray's shoulders.

˝I know you're worried about Lucy and everything. And I undarstand. But the one you should apologize to is Juvia, you know that, right?˝ Erza looked at him as he raised his head.

˝Yeah, I know…˝

˝What exactly happened last night?˝ Cana asked.

˝I'll tell you later. Come on. We're gonna be late for class!˝ Erza said as she started to walk away and Cana followed her.

˝See you after class, Gray.˝ Erza waved as she turned her head and looked at Gray.

˝See ya, Gray!˝

˝See ya, girls.˝ He waved back as he turned towards the locker and grabbed his books. Few books fell on the floor.

˝Damn it!˝ He knealed down to pick them up. Then he saw someone's hand helping him pick up the books. ˝Huh?˝

He raised his head only to see Natsu, helping him. ˝Natsu?˝

˝Hey man, you okay?˝ He asked as he reached out his hand towards Gray.

˝Yeah, I'm fine.˝

Gray took his hand and Natsu pulled him up. ˝Here're your books.˝

˝Thanks.˝ Gray said as he put some books back into the locker and closed it. Natsu could see something bothered him. ´He's probably worried about Lucy…´ Natsu's heart beated faster every time he thought about her. ˝Are you sure you're okay, Gray?˝ Natsu asked him.

˝I said I'm fine.˝ He answered. ˝Oh, by the way where is Juvia?˝

˝She went to class already with Levy.˝ Natsu answered. ˝And we should go too unless we wanna be late! Come on!˝ Natsu said as he rushed to the class. ´There's something strange about him. I can't figure it out. But I know there is definitely something…´ Gray thought as he followed him.

With Erza and Cana…

˝Oh, I see. Poor Juvia.˝ Cana said.

˝Yeah. But Gray didn't mean to be like that. He's just too much worriend about Lucy.˝ Erza added.

˝Yeah, I know. We have to go visit her. We need to tell her.˝

˝I know.˝ Erza lowered her head.

˝You okay Erza?˝ Cana asked her.

˝Oh, I'm okay. It's just…I'm worried to how will Lucy react to all we have to tell her.˝

˝I understand Erza. We're all worried, but she has to know the truth. After all, we promised that to Jude and Layla.˝ Cana said placing her hand on Erzas shoulder.

˝I know.˝

˝Hey Cana, Erza!˝ Someone called out for them and they turned around. Cobra, Laxus and Jellal were coming their way.

˝Hey, guys!˝

˝Hey.˝

˝Come on! We'll be late for class!˝ Cobra said as he put his hands around Cana's neck.

´Where's Mira? Hmm..She's probably in the classroom already.´ Laxus thought as he smiled.

˝We heard about Lucy. Is she okay?˝ Jellal asked.

˝Oh, yeah! She got attacked yesterday, right?˝ Cobra added.

˝Yeah. She's in the hospital. She's still little frightened

but she's okay now.˝ Erza explained.

˝That's good news.˝ Jellal smiled warmly at Erza, as he saw her worried face.

With Gray and Natsu…

˝Pefff! We made it!˝ Natsu sighed as he sat on the chair, and Gray also sat as he placed his head on the table.

˝What's up with you two?˝ Levy came over to them.

˝We ran.˝ Natsu answered.

˝Oh, I see.˝ She giggled. ˝Oh, by the way, where is Lucy?˝ Levy asked as Natsu and Gray looked at each other and then lowered their heads. Levy knew right away something was wrong.

˝Natsu tell…˝

˝She's in the hospital.˝ Gray said.

˝What!? What happened to her!?˝ Levy asked worriedly.

˝She was attacked.˝ Natsu said.

Levy's eyes widened as well as Juvia's who heard everything they were saying. ˝Oh, my God…Poor Lucy…˝

˝Don't worry. She's okay now.˝ Natsu reassured her.

´Lucy was attacked? By who? Maybe other vampires…´ Juvia thought as she stared into empty space.

With Lucy…

Lucy finally arrived back home from hospital. She entered the house and went into the room with help of her butler and maid, Capricorn and Virgo.

They helped her lay in the bed.

˝Miss Lucy, doctor told us everything and we'll take care of you until you fully recover.˝ Capricorn said.

˝Thank you. Both of you.˝ She smiled.

As they both left the room, she frowned. ´Why didn't they ever tell me the truth before. Why?´ She thought.

With Natsu, Gray and others…

As the bell rang everyone got up and went to another class.

˝Hey, Juvia!˝ Gray approached her as she looked at him.

˝I..I'm sorry for yesterday. I shouldn't have yelled at you like that. I acted like a jerk and I'm sorry! I hope we can still be friends!˝ Gray said it and he felt relieved.

´Friends…?´ She looked at him, she looked deep into his black eyes and she could tell he was really and truly sorry. ´Just friends…yeah…that's right…he loves someone else…He loves Lucy…´ She smiled gently and said ˝It's okay. Everything's okay. You don't have to apologize. I know you're very worried…about Lucy.˝ She said.

˝So, we're still friends?˝ Gray asked and Juvia nodded.

˝You're a very good person, Juvia. I'm glad to have you as a friend.˝ He smiled and then sat as the bell rang again and the teacher came in.

´I'm not a good person…I'm…a monser…´ Juvia lost herself into her thoughts as she watched the clouds through the window.
