Authors Note: I'm pulling teeth here. I do not like how this flows, but I promised an update to TheOneInTheMirror for guessing the three-shot I am currently working on. It's really short because of this. I'm sorry
Disclaimer: I'm still looking for work, there's no way I own this. But the creature is mine, if inspired by the Anbians in Spiffy Squigglemink-mantra III's story. Also! Will be mentioning Anbians at some points if needed. I don't own them.
Recap: Snape is trying to see what Harry can eat and Ron has seen his friend!
Center of the Hive
Chapter 10
Platters of different foods appeared within the bubble containing the transformed Potter, leaving him little room to maneuver. He screeched in alarm, spines snapping up almost comically as he scrambles to curl protectively around his abdomen. Snape had begun to snicker at the brat's reaction but the smile slips from his face at the fear in the child's face. Guilt settles like lead in his stomach as Potter realizes there is no danger and uncurls, sniffing shakily at the platters of food. His guilt wavers to amusement as he promptly backhands the trays of bugs and raw beef into the barrier, smearing down the magic in a disgusting mix. Snape outright snorted as Potter shoveled fistfuls of crisp greens into his maw, appearantly washing it down with the small pots of honey that had lain next to some bread. "If I didn't know any better, I would say you were the Latvian strain of Anbian…" Snape murmured. His eyes widened in realization, he swept almost excitedly from the Hospital Wing to return to his chambers and the book that detailed many unusual species.
Once the intimidating professor left, the air next to the eating Harry shimmered and revealed a smug redhead. Harry paused his meal to stare at Ron; an inquiring click slipping quickly passed his lips. "Yeah mate, we're good. Charlie taught me a few tricks to break some wards. Just give me a sec and I'll have ya out soon." Ron whispered with a small grin and drew his wand, prodding at the wards surrounding Harry. The boy stopped eating and settled down to watch his friends work intently, smiling at the quiet " Ah hah!" The redhead smiled triumphantly as the barrier flickered away, allowing the still oozing rejected meal to slop messily to the floor, "C'mon Harry, let's get you out of here. I'll find somewhere to hide you till this all blows over." He smiled and held his hand out to his striped best friend, the grin turning fond as a delicate clawed hand gripped his own. His smile shrunk when his best mate pulled him close, "What are you doin' mat-"Ron sputtered off midword as his transformed friend sank his small fangs into his throat. He was released easily enough, a hand pressed to the wound kept it from bleeding too heavily. Harry nuzzled and stayed close to Ron as they were covered with the Cloak and slipped away.
