Hello all! Happy New Year! I wanted to start the new year off right... with some NALU! There is more dialogue in this one than song and that will happen again in the future (fair warning). Sorry if the 'idea' does not meet up to your imaginations, but i tried really hard to mash up the four songs... but it didn't work. Rest assured they will be worked into the story in the future.
Song used in Break Your Little Heart- female version (the only one on Youtube is a horrible attempt to pass of the original as a female version by adjusting the pitch... so sorry for a poor choice)
As stated previously: I do not own Fairy Tail or any of the characters mentioned; nor do I own any of the songs used in this story.
Please enjoy as well as review; I love reading all the reactions from everyone!
Natsu and the rest of the boys of Audio Uproar walked through the commons on their way to the Music Hall. Running of the high from their successful interview yesterday, they were in the best of moods; nothing could bring them down. Natsu caught a glimpse of a familiar sight out of the corner of his eye and he perked up even more.
Lucy was walking with Erza, Juvia and Levy towards the Music Hall; they were all conversing with one another and laughing at whatever was being said. A few feet away from the boys, the girls looked up and waved at them.
"Mornin' ladies," Natsu cooed causes the girls to giggle. "Someone's happy this morning," Lucy observed. Natsu shrugged while Gray answered, "We're all excited from our interview yesterday."
"Oh yeah, we heard that; congrats boys," Levy said. Juvia ran over to Gray and latched onto his arm. "Juvia is so proud of her Gray-sama!"
"Your Gray-sama?!" Gray exclaimed causing everyone to giggle. "But in all seriousness, you guys were great. I bet Laxus is happy," Erza said. Jellal and Gajeel both shrugged, "We still have a lot to do."
"So… Gajeel," Levy slyly said causing Gajeel to raise an eyebrow at her. "Cher, huh?" Gajeel blushed at the statement and turned away from the group. While everyone else was too busy laughing, Levy noticed the slight pink on the gruff man's cheeks and blushed herself. "It's a good song okay!" Natsu strolled over to Gajeel and pat his back, "Who knew metal head had a soft side?" Gajeel's blush quickly disappeared and was replaced with a look of anger.
Gajeel picked Natsu up by his collar and lifted him up to his face, "Who you calling soft, Flame Brain?!"
"You, Lug Nut!" Both raised their fists towards one another but the school bell stopped the possible fight. The girls started walking into the building but Lucy stopped and turned around, "You guys better make it to class on time; you never know what might happen." With a wink, Lucy disappeared into the building.
Natsu, Gray, Jellal and Gajeel stood still for a moment contemplating what was just said. "I'm not sure whether to be scared … or turned on at the moment," Natsu said. The second bell sounded, pulling them from their thoughts and they all raced to class.
…
The schedule for today's class in the group band class was … nothing. The teacher didn't really feel like doing anything so there was no homework assignment. Audio Uproar was released from class due to their upcoming concert but what Lucy said peaked their interest. Now the four were seated at their usual table kicking back and waiting for whatever was going to happen happen.
Natsu intently watched the girls to try and catch whatever they were doing. He sat quietly and stared at Lucy who stared back. When Lucy grinned maliciously, Natsu raised an eyebrow in response. Without breaking eye contact, Lucy raised her hand and spoke, "Mr. Gildarts, we would like to perform something." Gildarts sighed and motioned towards the stage in the classroom.
The girls stood up and walked towards the stage to take their positions at their respective instrument. Lucy removed the microphone from the stand and placed the stand at the back of the stage. "As you all know, Audio Uproar appeared on the radio yesterday to promote their upcoming concert as well as debut their new single," Lucy began. Natsu leaned forward and intently focused on the blonde. "We want to congratulate them on their successful debut, so… this one's for you from the best Band at Fairy Tail."
Juvia brought her fingers down the neck of her guitar and started strumming it playing a familiar tone. Natsu, Gray, Jellal and Gajeel widened their eyes; they were playing their song! Their new song that only debuted yesterday! Their faces of shock turned into confusion and amazement; how were they doing this?
Lucy noticed their faces and air guitared along with Juvia's notes before pumping her fist in the air to the guitar strums. Lucy looked towards Levy and Erza and giggled along with them at the boys' faces; just the reaction they were hoping for.
Wide awake, my mistake so predictable
Lucy shrugged.
You were fake, I was great nothing personal
Lucy pointed at Natsu and then at herself.
I'm walking, who's laughing now?
Lucy walked across the front of the stage and raised one of her arms out to her side.
(Who's laughing, who's laughing now?)
I'm wasted, wasting time
You talk for hours but you're wasting lines
Lucy pantomimed talking with her free hand.
A pretty face but the chase ain't worth the prize
Lucy made a pout face and she circled her hand around her own face and shrugged again before pointing at Natsu and singing the chorus.
I'm gonna break your little heart
Watch you take the fall
Laughing all the way to the hospital
'Cause there's nothing surgery can do
When I break your little heart in two
Lucy pretended to break something over her knee and then walked back to the other edge of the stage. Natsu leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms chuckling from the scene in front of him. These girls were incredible; he had to admit, even when they were messing with them.
I'm gonna break your little heart in two
Party queen, cause a scene so ridiculous
Lucy pointed at herself and then raised her empty hand like it was in a panic.
Little dress, maybe less so conspicuous
Lucy played with the hem of her summer dress and then struck a pose.
You're falling, who's crashing now?
She locked eyes with Natsu to speak only to him.
(Who's crashing, who's crashing now?)
I'm wasted, wasting time
Lucy pulled the mic away from her mouth as she pushed the note before raising her hand to Natsu and walking away from him, hitting the high note.
I'm moving on but you're left behind
A pretty face but the chase ain't worth the prize
Lucy, Juvia and Levy all jumped together as the instruments kicked back in.
I'm gonna break your little heart
Watch you take the fall
Laughing all the way to the hospital
Lucy waved goodbye to the boys as she made the pouty face again.
'Cause there's nothing surgery can do
Oh, oh, oh, oh
I'm gonna break your little heart
Show you to the door sew yourself shut
Lucy pointed to the door and then pulled her arm in as if yearning for something.
Now you're begging for more
'Cause there's nothing surgery can do
When I break your little heart in two
Don't be so sentimental, no
This love was accidental, so
Lucy shrugged again at the accident.
Give it up, this was never meant to be more than a memory for you
Lucy stepped back as Juvia took center stage for the guitar solo. Lucy and Levy cheered and bobbed their heads along to Juvia's playing.
Gray leaned forward and stared in amazement at the blue haired girl before him. He had never seen anyone jam so hard and have so much fun doing it. He knew Juvia was an amazing guitar player but this blew his mind; she was playing his solo and doing it flawlessly. In this moment, there was nothing more sexy than a girl rocking out to his music and playing it just as good, if not better than himself.
I'm gonna break your little heart
Watch you take the fall
All the girls jumped when the instruments came back in the song together.
Laughing all the way to the hospital
'Cause there's nothing surgery can do
(When I break your little heart in two)
I'm gonna break your little heart
Show you to the door sew yourself shut
Now you're begging for more
'Cause there's nothing surgery can do
Lucy pretended to break something over her knee again.
When I break your little heart in two
The class erupted in cheering but AU sat still at their table unbelievably glaring at the girls who gave a smug smile back. Natsu unwound his arms and slowly clapped for them. They had done a terrific job; he had actually enjoyed their performance, not like he has ever disliked a performance of theirs before. Natsu glanced over to Gray and Jellal who nodded back at him; without speaking, they all knew that the girls were not to be taken lightly. They knew they were in trouble, not just because AOP was really good, but because the song was right. They were falling, and they were falling hard.
…
Shortly after the performance, Audio Uproar was released to continue prepping for their concert. Laxus was taking them to a fitting where they were to pick costumes for the concert. Like any other boy band, Natsu, Gray, Jellal and Gajeel fit into "roles" for which they had to dress and act. Gajeel is the obvious Bad Boy due to his stand off nature so his outfits consisted of a lot of leather and black. Gray is the Heartthrob because of his tone body which is always seen from his stripping habits. Despite this, Laxus made sure Gray picked out a few outfits (mainly focusing on the pants). Jellal is the Boy Next Door, the one who is kind and sweet, the one who likes to sit back and let the others speak. His outfits are usually more formal than the rest and more 'proper.' Lastly, Natsu is the glue to the band; he is the jokster of the group as well as a rival heartthrob. If Gray would keep his clothes on, they would be somewhat similar to Natsu's.
After hours of getting measured and trying on hundreds of clothes, the outfits for the concert were chosen and set aside for the concert. As being their first concert, Laxus wanted the boys to look similar but with key differences to make each member unique. Just when the boys thought they were free, Laxus commanded the four to go back to their lounge at Fairy Tail and come up with their set for the show; they were not allowed to leave until it was finished.
With a group sigh, AU made their way back to Fairy Tail and up to their old music room. Natsu opened the door and walked into the room with the others following; they didn't notice the room until after the door shut. Slowly the guys looked around their little lounge area and their eyes widened at the sight. Instead of the drab, bachelor room they once had, the room was now filled with everything pink and frilly.
A pink shag carpet laid on the floor, a pink and white polka dotted couch cover lay atop their cover as well as a decorative doily. Numerous posters of shirtless male celebrities lined the walls and the room reeked of a flowery perfume. "What the hell?" Natsu muttered. All was silent until Justin Beiber's "Baby" blared from the room. The four guys ducked to the floor and held their hands against their ears. The shrill high pitched music hurt their ears and no matter how hard they pressed against their ears, they could still clearly hear the music.
Natsu slowly crawled between his band mates and towards the door. He leaned up against the door and was able to stand himself up. Natsu giggled the handle but the door remained shut. "It won't open!" he shouted; Gajeel slowly got up from where he was lying and met Natsu at the door. Gajeel lifted his heavy boot and slammed it against the door, but again the door would not move. "What the hell?!" Gray yelled. Natsu continued to beat on the door, "Why. Won't. It. Open?!"
"Natsu, it's no use," Jellal whined. With a grunt, Natsu backed up as much as he could and then ran full force at the door. The door did not budge in the slightest, but instead Natsu slammed his head into the door and slide down to the floor. Natsu held his head again and rolled around on the floor in pain; Gray, Gajeel and Jellal were all concerned until the sound of faint laughter coming from the outside the door drew their attention.
"Who is out there?!" Gray shouted. "Gray-sama?" Gray's eyes widened, "Juvia? Juvia, thank Mavis! We're trapped in here, you gotta get us out!"
"No can do Casanova."
"Erza?" Outside the door, the girls of AOP stood listening to the boys and trying not to laugh but it clearly wasn't working. "Erza, it's Jellal, the door is stuck and we need to get out!" Jellal, Gajeel, and Gray were all pressed up against the door in an attempt to hear the girls on the other side; Natsu remained rolling on the floor in pain. "I'm afraid we can't do that," Lucy chimed in. "Lu-cy?" Natsu whimpered. "Why not?" Jellal asked.
"You see there is this little thing called a war and you're in it," Levy stated. Gajeel pounded on the door, "Shrimp, you better let us out of here right now!"
"Fine, fine, we'll let you out…" The guys sighed in relief. "In two hours when the song loop ends."
"WHAT?!" Gray, Gajeel, Natsu and Jellal said in unison. "Two hours?!"
"Goodbye boys!" Lucy cooed as the girls walked away down the hall. Immediately, all four of the guys began pounding on the door calling for the girls to come back and release them.
…
Lucy sat on her living room couch curled up in a blanket and a good book. Levy walked out of her room and out into the living room carrying a bag and a jacket. "Where are you off to so late?" Lucy asked her roommate. Levy paused before turning around and saying, "I'm working with Bisca on a project so we will be studying late in the library."
"Ok, Levy-chan, don't be out too late." Levy smiled at her roommate and shut the door behind her. Lucy snuggled down into the couch to enjoy the peace and quiet she had for however long she had it.
Lucy had just finished a chapter in her book when she heard a loud pounding at her door. Curious and a little scared, Lucy slowly got up from her place at the couch clutching her book close to her chest. Silently placing one foot in front of the other, Lucy made her way to the door and peeked in the peep hole on her door. Her face went from scared to frightened when she saw who was standing at her door.
She gulped, took a deep breath and slowly opened the door. Natsu was leaning against her door frame; his eyes were bloodshot and had black circles underneath them. "H-hi, Natsu?" Lucy shakily spoke as she backed up into her apartment with Natsu following. Natsu managed to close the door with his foot before backing Lucy further into the apartment and stopping her against the kitchen counter. "N-Natsu?" Natsu stared at her intently before lowering his head onto her shoulder, making Lucy shutter. "Natsu?" Natsu didn't move and his breathing slowed; Lucy was confused until he started lightly snoring. "Um…" Natsu started to slump and pull Lucy down, but she struggled trying to keep him standing.
Natsu's eye lids fluttered before he cracked them open to see a fan spinning on the ceiling. He groaned before sitting up but was pushed down by someone else. "Natsu, you shouldn't sit up." Lucy knelt next to couch and fixed the ice bag that rested on his forehead. "Lucy? What happened?"
"You came to my apartment and passed out." Natsu turned his head away from Lucy and held the ice pack on his head. "You don't look so good."
"I wonder who's fault that is," Natsu glared at the blonde. "What?! How is this my fault?!" Natsu turned his head back towards her, "Hmm… let's see. After prepping for our show all day, we were to do more preparation and instead we were locked in a room for two hours listening to some prepubescent teenage boy/girl thing. Then take another three hours to try and create our set list for the show but since we were all stressed from the previous two hours, we didn't get it done."
"… So this is my fault because?"
"Are you kidding me?!" Natsu started to sit up but Lucy pushed him back down. "Ok, ok, Natsu, I get it. So what am I supposed to do about it?" Natsu glanced at her and then smirked, "Sit down." The two had a five second stare down before Lucy complied and sat down on the couch next to Natsu's head. Natsu scooted up and laid his head down on her lap. "What do you think you're doing?!"
"What does it look like? I'm trying to relax." Natsu said as he rolled over to face the rest of the room. Both were quiet for a moment, Lucy mainly stunned from what was happening. "Natsu?" There was no reply. "Natsu?" Natsu's face had relaxed and his breathing slowed; Lucy relaxed upon seeing him sleeping. She sighed before fixing the ice bag that was sliding off his head. She did feel a little guilty that she had a part in him being so tired but hey that's war. She could take advantage of the situation and play another prank on him but it didn't seem right. She picked up her book that she set on the table next to the couch and continued reading. It was peaceful now and even more relaxing than when she was alone. While Natsu's presence could be chaotic and loud, he also brought a calming atmosphere.
…
Everything seemed normal today; classes were boring as usual, probably because AU was still out prepping for their concert in a few days. After a few classes, the AOP finally arrived at their group band class, the last class before lunch. The girls sat down at their usual class table and began talking and plotting their next move. The tune of Weightless began to play from Lucy's pocket; Lucy pulled out her phone to see Natsu was calling her. "Natsu?"
"Hey, Luce, how's it going'?"
"Natsu, I'm in class, you know that."
"Oh, I'm sorry, how forgetful of me." Lucy squinted in skepticism, "What are you up to?"
"Oh, nothing; I just miss you that's all."
"Uh huh whatever, Natsu. I know you're lying."
"You calling me a liar?"
"Yes I am."
"Why don't you say that to my face."
"Your face?" Lucy looked up to see Natsu's face in the window on the classroom door. "Natsu …" Lucy went to stand up but she couldn't. Lucy shifted forward trying to rock herself forward. "Lucy, what's wrong?" Levy asked. "I can't stand up!" Lucy used all her power and was finally able to stand but so did the chair. "WHAT?!" Lucy screamed and glared at the window where Natsu was busting up laughing. "Lucy, calm down…" Erza began but when she stood the same thing happened to her. "I'm stuck!"
"Juvia too!" Levy was trying to stand but all she could do was kick her legs. Natsu was joined outside the door by Gray, Gajeel and Jellal who were all laughing at the girls. Lucy tried to take a step towards the door but fell forward. "Lu-chan!"
"That's it!" Erza shouted as she stepped over Lucy and waddled towards the door, but she too fell. The boys continued laughing until Laxus appeared, yelled at them and then threw them out of the hall. Lucy and Erza crawled back to the table and managed to sit themselves up. "That is the last straw, ladies." Erza cried. "You know what to do." Lucy, Juvia and Levy nodded in response.
…
The girls were able to pry the chairs off of themselves but at the cost of ruining their pants. Fortunately, there were some sweatpants in the lost and found in the main office. The girls excused themselves from class and met in the closet under the stairs to devise their evil plot. "Juvia, have you got the supplies?" Erza asked and Juvia nodded in response. "Lucy, have you got extra ammo?"
"Right here," Lucy answered as she gestured to a duffel bag. "Alright, Levy, what's the plan?" Levy lifted up a poster board with a layout of the school on it with chibi figures of them and the guys. "We make sure the guys are relaxing in their lounge. When they exit we direct them to the construction zone so they will be cornered and then we fire."
"Ladies, suit up. It's time!" With that, the ladies high fived and exited the room to get in their positions. Levy crouch walked over to the door leading into the AU lounge; she pressed her ear up to the door and heard the boys arguing about something… typical. Levy whispered into her walkie talkie notifying the others of AU's movements. Levy knocked on the door and ran away to hide behind the corner. Jellal answered the door but was confused when no one was there. Jellal's phone rang and a voice called, "Audio Uproar, front and center now!" Jellal pulled the phone away from his ear causing the others to straighten up in fear. "Let's go!" Natsu shouted as he ran out the door past Jellal and slipped on the floor. Gray, Jellal, Gajeel and Natsu ran down the hall towards the voice which sounded just like their testy manager. They turned the corner, but a janitor mopping the floor blocked their path. Gray nudged his bandmates, "The other way, come on!" The four retreated down the hallway and ran towards the opposite stairwell. Natsu pulled on the door but it was locked, "What is it with this school and locked doors?!" Gajeel placed his hand on Natsu's shoulder and pointed to the elevator. With a nod, the four got into the elevator and headed down to the first floor.
The elevator suddenly jolted sending everyone to the floor. The boys grunted in pain as they toppled over one another but was interrupted by the ding of the elevator. The doors opened up to reveal the elevator stopped on the fourth floor. Gray and Natsu both scrambled out the door, each yelling insults at the other before Gajeel knocked them back into their senses. Jellal wobbled out of the elevator but tripped and fell over on top of Gray, Natsu and Jellal.
The boys were too busy squirming to hear the footsteps walking towards them. When the boots stopped, the four glanced up slowly to see Erza standing before them in make shift armor. Era had her long red hair in a braid, football pads on her shoulders, knee and elbow pads on with dark lines smeared across her cheeks. What didn't go unnoticed was that in her right hand she held a big gun. "Hello boys," all four guys gulped in response. "Remember this afternoon when you thought it would be funny to glue me to a chair?" Natsu and Gray slowly nodded. "Well… nothing is holding me back from kicking your asses, so…" Gray quickly threw off his shirt at Erza's face blocking her view, "Run!" he shouted as the four boys skirted around her.
The boys all ran until coming to a sudden stop when they saw Juvia blocking the hallway in front of them. "Hello, Gray-sama."
"Go back, back!" Gray shouted as he pushed his bandmates down the adjoining hallway. The boys ran as fast as they could but came to a halt seeing the hallway abruptly stopped and was blocked with construction equipment. "Oh, no, back!" Jellal called but the boys stopped when the saw four figures step in front of them blocking their way out. "Hello, Gajeel," Levy snickered. "Shrimp?" Gajeel said.
"Aww, Gray-sama," Juvia began, "You look so frightened." Erza leaned herself up against Juvia and smirked at Jellal who gulped in response. The janitor walked over and stood between Levy and Juvia, "Looks like we got them right where we want them, girls." The janitor pulled off the mustache on their face; "Lucy?" Natsu gasped. Lucy pulled off her hat and shook her blonde hair around. "Erza?" Lucy asked to which Erza nodded in return. In unison, the girls raised their guns and began firing nerf bullets at the boys.
Each of them took a huddled position to shield themselves from the plastic projectiles. "We have to get out of here!" Jellal shouted. "Guys, Plan Delta, go!" Natsu shouted and the boys charged at their attackers. Natsu tackled Lucy, Erza and Juvia to the ground allowing Gray, Jellal and Gajeel to escape. "You've made a big mistake, Natsu Dragneel." Lucy grunted. "On the contrary, my dear Lucy, I think you're the one that's made a big mistake." With that, Natsu got up and sprinted after his bandmates. "After them!" Erza shouted. Levy helped the others up before they all chased after them.
The girls ran up the stairs after the boys and were stopped outside the AU lounge. Lucy, Levy, Juvia and Erza stopped dead in their tracks and stared at the four guys before them. The once defenseless band members now stood before them fully armed with their own nerf guns. "I told you, Lucy, you made a big mistake."
"I think we need to re-group," Lucy said as she slowly took a step back from the boys. "Fire!" Natsu shouted and the boys began firing at the girls. The girls retreated down the hall all the while firing back.
The boys and girls ran around the entire school dodging and firing at one another. They seemed to be lost in their own little world; they didn't seem to notice or care when they interrupted classes with their battles. They ran around jumping over tables, running across the walls and jumping down stair wells, using a few human shields here and there.
The battle somehow got to the cafeteria area where people were gathered. Levy and Juvia took cover behind a table of tuba players while Gray and Gajeel fired at them from their spot behind some flute players. Erza and Jellal were having an epic battle themselves; they were jumping over tables and diving under them. Natsu and Lucy were having a hand-to-hand nerf sword combat battle atop some tables in the middle of the room. "Give it up, pretty boy, you're going to lose."
"You really think I'm pretty?" Natsu asked, catching Lucy off guard. Natsu saw this and took advantage of the situation by putting more pressure on his sword. "I wouldn't think so highly of yourself," Lucy rebutted as she put pressure on her sword. Natsu and Lucy pushed apart from one another and prepared to strike again when they were interrupted by a loud shout. Makarov stomped his foot and shouted, "ENOUGH!" All eight band members stopped and slowly turned towards the enraged elder. "My office now!"
…
That's how Audio Uproar and Accidentally On Purpose ended up in detention. All eight musicians sat quietly in Makarov's office, either scared stiff or remaining monotone to the situation. They sat in there for what seemed to be an eternity, even though it was only an hour. Lucy broke the silence, "What do you think is gonna happen to us?" Natsu sat in Makarov's chair with his feet propped up on the desk before him, "Don't worry about it, Luce, they're not gonna do anything to you."
"How can you be so sure?" Levy asked from the corner of the room where she and Gajeel sat. "Been here, done it… we'll be fine." At that moment, the door opened and in walked Makarov and Laxus. Natsu's eyes widened at the sight of Laxus, he was definitely in trouble now. "Natsu!" Laxus yelled causing Natsu to jump out of his chair and fall onto the floor at Lucy's feet. Makarov walked over to his desk and sat in his chair with Laxus standing behind him. "I would expect this kind of behavior from you boys, but I am shocked at you girls." At that, all the girls bowed their heads. "You disrupted several classes and meetings, you destroyed several tables and textbooks, involved several students who got hit… What were you all thinking?!" Lucy opened her mouth to speak but Laxus started, " And you idiots, did you really think slacking off and skipping out on concert preparation by getting detention was a good idea?!"
"Laxus…" Lucy spoke and everyone turned towards her. "This was all my fault…"
"Lucy…" Natsu interrupted.
"I pulled a prank on Natsu and it got out of hand fast."
"No, it was my fault," Natsu stood up in front of Lucy. "I was the one who was careless; I got way too into it and got others involved. So if you wanna punish someone, punish me. Leave them out of this." The room was silent; mainly people were too shocked at Natsu's humility to speak. Makarov sighed, "Due to the circumstances of your upcoming concert, I will post pone your punishment until after the show has occurred but rest assured you will be punished Mr. Dragneel."
"Yes, sir."
"Now boys, Laxus needs you to go with him to continue prepping for the show, but before you go… no more pranks. This little war or dispute or whatever you all have with one another… it ends now! Am I understood?"
"Yes, sir," they answer. "Good, you may leave now." The eight musicians made their way out of the room and the boys continued to exit the building. "Natsu, wait." Lucy said as she grabbed his arm. "What is it Luce?"
"Why did you do that? I started this, this was my fault."
"Well I continued it; I was the reason it got out of hand. It's my burden to bear."
"But…"
"Don't worry about it; my punishment is probably gonna be cleaning up around here, nothing major." Lucy still wore a sad look on her face. Natsu raised his hand and placed it on her cheek. Shocked, Lucy glanced up at him. "It'll be fine, Luce. I've gotta go now." He began to leave but paused a moment. "When I said I missed you before… I was telling the truth." With that, Natsu walked away and left Lucy standing in the hallway blushing madly.
