A/N: Look! Another chapter! It's a miracle! Not really… just lots of caffeine. You've been warned. :D

Disclaimer: This is the part where we sacrifice hum-… haha. Just kidding. I don't own Teen Titans.

Chapter 10

Adrenaline

Red. It was all red. As far as he was concerned, this was the end. Garfield stumbled down the hallway, claws dragging along the plaster and steel walls, leaving long, gaping gashes in the material. A dull throbbing echoed around his skull, driving him insane. His teeth had grown longer and sharper and his eyes were blood shot. Something, an instinct maybe, was driving him down the hallway. Fear. That's what it was. Fear. Something was chasing him. He could hear its footfalls behind him, loud and obnoxious and gaining ever closer.

Earlier, he'd been sleeping as peacefully as ever, curled up on the top rack of his ever present bunk bed, mumbling something about tofu in the morning. A shriek had echoed through the tower that startled him out of his tofu-laden dream and onto the floor in a heap. Dazed and confused, aware of the lack of the usual alarm that accompanied such screams. Then he'd felt it. Her fear. It radiated through the walls. It only lasted an instant before vanishing but it was enough to break down the wall he'd tried so hard to keep up. The Beast was loose.

Back to present, he was still struggling to maintain whatever shred of humanity was left before it completely consumed him, as his inner mind realized that he was chasing, not being chased. He rounded another corner and stopped, looking at the blue-cloaked figure crumpled on the floor in a heap, panting. Raven. Somewhere in his mind he was screaming for her to run, to leave, phase through a wall or do anything. He knew she couldn't though. His animal sense told him they'd been running all over the tower, and she was very exhausted. He could smell it. Garfield growled, a very low and menacing sound, before stumbling to the left and crashing through the wall into a secondary work out room.

As he lumbered out he saw her, Raven, standing shakily and turning to look at him, arms outstretched. The Beast roared and stepped closer, closing the distance rapidly. Raven on the other hand took hasty steps backwards, "Gar, please. Stop. Please. Gar…" Her pleas fell on deaf ears, until they started making less sense, "Gar, wake up. Gar! Seriously! You're shredding my sheets. Wake up Garfield."

His eyes opened for the first time that night as he turned to look at Raven, who was sitting on the edge of her bed, giving him a mild glare while trying to hide a concerned look, "Another Beast dream?" Garfield nodded to himself, suddenly quiet. Raven reached out and pulled his trembling body against hers, attempting to soothe him, "Well, you're back to me now, and that's all that matters. It was just a little adrenaline."

A/N: I don't know where that came from. Blame the caffeine. Anyway, read and review, you know the drill. Hopefully these two sudden chapters can satisfy the ones I left hanging. I might try to get another one out tonight. Enterprise, out.
