Fitz followed Aubrey out of the room. He knew that there was nothing he could say to her to make her feel ok or stop the pain. When he caught up with Aubrey, she was sitting in the lobby silently crying. He sat next to her silent for a moment, not knowing what to say. Because what do you say to your new daughter that you just met? How do you comfort her?

"It hurts. I can only imagine. You came looking for an explanation, you got it but you never got closure. Your mother abandoned you when you were younger. You walked into a house that should've been yours with siblings you didn't even know you had. You're angry because the family that lives inside the house should've been yours. And to top it all off your mother is now pregnant with another baby….Aubrey, I can only imagine." Fitz said staring into her eyes

"It's just…I was raised on family values and then she trashes them to pick up a new family that doesn't include me?" Aubrey asked with tears in her eyes

"I know it doesn't make sense. But one thing I can tell you about your mother is that she loves and she loves hard. She doesn't make any decision without looking at it from all angles. She loves you, wanna know how I know?" Fitz asked

"How?"

"Because even though you haven't seen each other in years and even though you have every right to be mad, she is hurting just as much as you are if not more. It takes a lot for a mother to walk away from her baby, so even though I have no right to ask anything of you I ask that you please give her just one chance to make it up to you." Fitz said

"Ok. One chance." Aubrey said wiping her tears.

They both got up and hugged each other. At that moment, Olivia walked out with a smile in her heart because she knew how much pain this family was in because of her decisions but she was so happy to see that her family had a fighting chance.

They all walked out of the doctor's office and stood in the parking lot at the cars. Olivia knew it was going to take real effort to try to mend this family. She wanted to move forward with but didn't know how.

After leaving the doctor's office Olivia, FItz and Aubrey all returned home. Once Fitz unlocked the door, Aubrey went inside and upstairs to her room. Fitz went to the dining room table and asked Olivia to join him.

She was nervous about what Fitz was going to say next. She didn't know if he was going to argue with her or be mad even though he had every right to be. She was nervous because her life was no longer one that she recognized.

"Livvie. I love you, I love beyond what my soul can bear. I want to love every part of you, but I can't do that if you don't show me every part of you. I'm here waiting, watching, wanting a fighting chance and I'm still only getting part of you." Fitz said tearfully

"I will. I will be honest with you about everything, it's just… it's hard. I didn't want to leave her Fitz. I didn't want her to feel this pain that she feels right now." Olivia said through tears "A mother's first and most important job is to protect their kids from any and everything that could hurt them. Then our job is to provide for them. I tried. And I failed and now I will spend everyday making up for it, but I don't know if she'll let me in enough."

"You have to understand that she has the right to close the door when she feels scared that you might not love her the way she needs to be loved. Trust me, what she wants right now is for you to prove to her that she is just as important as Avery and Ariah." Fitz said "She loves you Livvie, but she is scarred past her heart and that, that's going to take time."

Aubrey had been sitting at the bottom of the stairs from the moment she heard Olivia speak. She knew she loved her mom. She had six wonderful years with her, but every year after that made her feel unlovable because her mother wasn't there.

"Are you excited?" Olivia asked

"Of course I am. We have to start thinking about names and a way to tell the kids." Fitz grinned

"Goosey is going to takeover her new little sibling." Olivia smiled at the thought. "Do you think I should go upstairs and talk to her?" Olivia questioned

"No, I think she needs a space to adjust to her new reality." Fitz said.

The doorbell rang and Aubrey dashed upstairs to her room. She didn't want Olivia to come around the corner and see her sitting on the steps.

Fitz got up from the table and kissed Olivia on the forehead and went to answer the door. It was Abby and the kids. As soon as he opened the door, he bent down to pick up both of the kids that almost knocked him over. Fitz was making them laugh by tickling them on their sides. Olivia heard all of the giggles, got up from the table and went to the doorway. She smiled at her twins trying to make their dad stop tickling them.

"Did you two enjoy a day with Aunt Abby?" Fitz asked after the tickle attack stopped

"Yes" the twins said in unison

"Ok, how about the two of you get washed up and go play upstairs and ask mommy if she'll play with you." Fitz said

He put the twins down. Once they saw Olivia they each gave her a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. They each grabbed one of her hands and forced her to follow them upstairs to their playroom. Fitz invited Abby inside to sit down and talk. Abby knew the explanation behind Fitz's face. They sat down on the couches in the living room across from each other.

"I'm assuming your long face isn't because the kid didn't bring you back ice cream?" Abyy chuckled trying to lighten the mood

Fitz slightly grinned. "You know. Hell I'm gonna take a guess and say you knew the whole time"

Abby nodded her head.

"Abby, why didn't you tell me? And before you say 'girl code' think for a moment about the type of person that I am, the kind of husband I've been to Liv and the kind of dad I am to those twins and then you tell me why you didn't tell me." Fitz said frustrated. He wasn't angry at Abby he just didn't know why she wouldn't tell him.

"I didn't tell you because of the look you gave her when Aubrey showed up on your doorstep. The look you gave Liv in that moment, I can assume probably crushed her." Abby said and then paused. "The things we kids from the people we love, are the skeletons in our closet that we can't get rid of. I didn't tell you because I can guarantee you it would have crushed you hearing it from me. Think about it, I'm closer to you so although it was a shock that Aubrey just showed up on your doorstep, it would've hurt even worse to have known from your wife's best friend. I couldn't risk hurting both of you." Abby said, Fitz sighed.

Fitz knew she was right. Had she heard about Aubrey through her Abby, he would've had a harder time adjusting to their new life.

"You need to talk to her." Fitz said

"Liv?"

"No, Aubrey. She's not ready to talk with Olivia yet."

Abby sighed, nodded her head, hugged Fitz and went upstairs to find Aubrey. As she walked past the play room she saw the twins building a leggos castle with their mom. She got to the guest room that she thought Aubrey would be in and was met with no one inside. She walked to the other side of the hallway and saw Aubrey staring up at the walls looking at all of the family portraits.

Aubrey felt slightly turned her head over her shoulder and saw the outline of Abby's frame. Abby took a step forward and moved beside Aubrey looking at the pictures. Abby didn't realize she was crying until she heard the crack in her voice when she tried to speak.

"Fitz said something today. He said 'You walked into a house that should've been yours with siblings you didn't even know you had. You're angry because the family that lives inside this house should've been yours.' He's right. This should've been my life. Why isn't it mine?" Aubrey asked

"It is yours. Look at me" Abby said, putting her hand on Aubrey's cheek. "This is your life. Those are your siblings and Olivia is your mother. Don't think for a second that this life wasn't created without you in mind. This house will eventually be your home. Your siblings will eventually be your friends and Olivia will eventually be your mother again. This is your life Aubrey. But you have to forgive and let your family become your family." Abby said

Aubrey gave Abby a hug and silently sobbed in her arms. She finally felt a release. She had been thinking all this time that she made the wrong decision in coming here. But she didn't. She was right where she needed to be. Adjusting wasn't going to be easy but she was willing to try.

Olivia came around the corner and saw Aubey cradled in Abby's arms. Aubrey eventually looked up and locked eyes with Olivia. Olivia smiled. Aubrey looked up at Abby as if asking for reassurance and Abby just nodded. She let Aubrey go.

Olivia and Aubrey met halfway and Aubrey pulled her in for a hug. Aubrey whispered in her ear, "I promise I'll try." She paused and said "I missed you mommy." That last sentence was only heard by Olivia and she squeezed onto Aubrey even tighter and cried. This time tears of joy because she knew that even though she was going to work to try and earn her daughter's trust back, at least they were both willing to try.

Aubrey and Olivia released each other and went to the guest room and sat on the bed. Abby went to the kids play room and noticed them both asleep on the floor next to their blocks. She went downstairs to check on Fitz.

As Olivia and Aubrey sat on the bed they talked about everything. They were finally both being honest with each other but everything that happened.

"Is it still ok if I stay for the summer? I know I just popped up and surprised everyone, but I wanted to ask, especially now that you have a new baby on the way." Aburey asked apprehensively

"Of course you can stay." Olivia said smiling.

Olivia knew she had to talk with Fitz about the two newest member of the family and eventually try to figure out how to accommodate their growing family. If Olivia was being honest, she was hoping that Aubrey would ask to move in or even stay with them as she went through college.

Downstairs, Abby was sitting across the table from Fitz. He didn't say anything for a minute. Abby was the first to break the silence.

"What do you want to do? Because you could leave but we both know that's not going to happen. You can stay but we both know you're still trying to process everything, so what do you want to do?"

"I want my family back, I want to trust Liv again. I want to be happy that we have a new bundle of joy on the way and I want to run for President. There are so many things that I want but I don't know if I can have them all without sacrificing another one." Fitz said

"You will have it all. It will take time, but you'll get there. Take it one day at a time" Abby said.

Olivia came downstairs and was surprised to still see Abby there. She gave her best friend a hug and followed her to the door. When they walked outside, Abby stopped once they got to the car.

"That man is broken, your family is broken. Own it, cry if you need to and then move forward. I love you so I can say this, you need to end this battle with Jake once and for all and take back your family. Aubrey needs that. She needs to know every day without a doubt in her mind that you will go over a cliff for her. And Fitz...Fitz needs his wife back." Abby said

"I know. Thank you Abby. I don't know what I'd do without you."

"You'd lose your mind." Abby said laughing

Abby got in her car and pulled out the driveway. Olivia took a deep breath and went back into the house. She went straight to the kitchen and saw Aubrey pulling out pots and pans to get ready to cook and Fitz taking out seasonings to help. She smiled at the sight. She came around the island and looked at two of the most important people in her life.

"So what's for dinner?" Olivia asked

"It's a surprise. Go upstairs or go watch tv and let us cook." Fitz said

She smiled and did as she was told. She went upstairs to make sure the twins had gotten up from their nap because if they were still asleep then they were going to be up all night. She ent into their playroom and only saw Avery playing with his toys. She went to the Ariah's room and saw her reading a book.

Ariah quickly noticed her mother's presence and turned around with a big smile on her face. She got up from her desk and hugged Olivia at the waist.

"Mommy, is Aubrey going to stay forever?" Ariah asked.

"She'll be here for the summer as of right now but hopefully yes." Olivia said

"Yay, I like having a big sister. Does she like having a little sister?" Ariah asked

"I bet she does like having a little sister. Who wouldn't love having a little goosey as a sister." Olivia grinned

Back downstairs while Fitz and Aubrey were cooking, they were getting to know each other. Fitz felt like Aubrey was already his daughter. She was so wise and mature for her age. He could definitely tell she was Olivia's daughter because of certain looks she gave him. It was nice to see a glimpse of what Ariah was going to be like when she got older.

"You're a good man. You love those kids and my mother so much, I hope Dean and I share that as we get older."

"And who is Dean?" Fitz asked with a slight look of horror on his face

"Dean is my boyfriend…" Aubrey said. She wasn't exactly sure if she should share all of this information but she liked Fitz. Fitz on the other hand felt like he should be proactive with Aubrey and try to protect her heart because it had already been scarred. He'll be damned if "Dean" comes along and breaks his little girl's heart.

"Well you are of age, just be careful and talk to your mom about stuff like that." Fitz laughed nervously

Aubrey laughed and kept cooking with her step-dad. She was glad that she came and she was glad that she was starting to find home. Abby was right "Don't think for a second that this life wasn't created without you in mind. This house will eventually be your home". She was happy that this was becoming true.
