Chapter 10: Information & Incantations

Disclaimer: I don't own Teen Wolf

Vampire.

Witches.

Werewolves.

Fairies.

Demons.

That was just a few of the supernatural creatures Jared was told roamed around New Orleans. These were also the more known about supernatural creatures.

It had been three weeks since Jared had learned he wasn't human, but supernatural. As he packed his bags to return back to Beacon Hills he couldn't help but think back to the night he learned what he was, and knew his life would never be the same.

Lovec's Library

Once Kyle and Jared pulled up at their family home, Kyle placed his hand onto his son's shoulder before teleporting them into the library.

Stepping away from his dad, Jared eyes scanned the huge library before the landed on his grandfather who was sitting at one of the tables with a small smile on his face. "Okay, can someone please tell me what the hell is going on?"

Kyle looks over at his dad. "You wanna take this one?"

"Sure son." The eldest Lovec male said, standing up from the table to walk over to Jared.

Jared let his grandfather Mason leads him to another table, while his dad exited the library with a promise to return shortly.

For a minute neither of the males said anything, only looking into each other blue eyes. As Jared continue to stare in his grandfather's eyes he could see and sense the knowledge and power he held in them. It was the same power he saw in all the males in his family, and now here he was about to gain the same knowledge and power as them.

"You are a Kresnik." Mason said, breaking the silence.

Jared frowns. "Kre-what?" Was that even English?

"Kresnik." Mason laughs.

"What is a Kresnik? How did I become this, and is there a way for me to get rid of it?"

As soon as the word left Jared's mouth he felt the ground underneath him began to shake, the wooden shelves trembling, and the small light fixtures dangling from the ceiling began to sway as a small, but strong breeze blew through the room carrying the scent of old books, and lemon scented pine sol from where Louise had wiped down the multiple wooden tables in the library.

Jared whips his head around. "What the-" As one of the vase on a nearby table shatters. The water in the vase exploding along the table, scattering the flowers over the table.

"You can't get rid of this!" Jared's grandpa spat. When Jared met his grandfather's eyes they were no longer blue, but a glowing silver.

"Dad!" Kyle called out as he runs into the library, placing a comforting hand on his dad's shoulder. "You're freaking him out."

Instantly the ground and everything stops shaking.

Mason eyes returns to normal. "Sorry Jared... I didn't mean to scare you."

"You...how..." Jumping up from his seat, Jared points an accusing finger at his grandfather, his eyes wide. "You did that...the earthquake, and the wind."

"I did."

"How?" Jared breaths out.

"It's just one of the many gifts of being a Kresnik." Mason said. "Something you were born."

"I was born like this." Jared thought. "So why is this happen now?" If he was born like this why was he just getting these weird powers?

"You're sixteen now." Kyle answered. "Your powers are starting to manifest."

"Powers...What do these power have to do with being a Kresnik?" Jared shakes his head. "Never Mind that," turning his attention to his grandfather. "What is a Kresnik?"

"Kresnik are blood descendants from Perun the Slavic god of lighting, and thunder." Jared's grandfather began. "He is also the patron of soldiers and noble warriors, the ruling god and keeper of the law and the standard of male power and dominance as well."

"So a Kresnik is a type of warrior?" Jared asked with a raised brow.

"More like a hunter actually." Jared's dad said. "You are a supernatural vampire hunter with the abilities to wipe out the whole vampire race."

Jared whips his head towards his dad. "I do." Could he be that strong?

"Yeah" Kyle smiles brightly at his son. "You are more powerful than you know." He hasn't even scratched the surface of his power yet.

He remembered the rage he felt towards the vampire and the surge of power he felt when he fought. The voice in the back of his head telling him to kill the vampire almost like a primal instinct.

Not wanting to get off subject, Jared clears his mind and focus his attention back on his dad and grandfather. "You're a Kresnik too grandpa?"

"Yes, and your uncle Tyler." Mason replied.

"But not you." Jared asks his dad.

"No." Jared's dad replies, a small smile appearing on his face. "I'm a witch...like my mom."

Katlyn Lovec. Jared didn't know much about his grandmother. His dad, uncle, or grandfather never really talked about her. The few times she's been mention it's was about how beautiful, and sweet she was before she died, when he was around four, and now she that she was a witch.

"Your grandmother wasn't just any witch," Jared grandfather said softly. "She was the coven leader of the New Orleans witches, and one of the most powerful witches of her time."

Seeing the smile appearing across his grandfather face, Jared couldn't help but smile himself. His grandmother sounded like a totally badass.

After another second or two Jared asked. "What kind of powers do I get being a Kresnik?"

There was no way in hell he was going back to Beacon Hills without gaining some type of control over these power he was gaining. What if he accidentally hurt someone, or his friends? Sure he could always heal them with his blood, which he has to admit is really cool, but it would probably bring questions.

Kyle and Mason both share a smile with one another, before turning back to Jared. "Well you have the same abilities as vampires." Jared's grandfather starts. "Enhanced senses, self-heal, strength, speed, and compulsion."

Jared brows furrow in confusion. "Compulsion. What's that?"

"It's sort like mind control the ability to influence and control thoughts, emotions, and behavior and can alter or erase memories. Vampire can only use it on humans, no other supernatural creatures unless sired or bind to them."

"Kresnik?" Jared asked. He was pretty sure that the vampire had tried to use compulsion on him tonight and it didn't work. "We're immune to compulsion too."

Mason lips turn up into a little smile. "Yes we're immune to their compulsion, but they aren't immune to ours, neither are any other supernatural creature, besides Fae types."

"What about mom?" Jared scrapped both hands down his face. "Does she know? Is she even human?"

Kyle place a comfortable hand on his son's shoulder. "She human, but she knows about the supernatural."

"Maybe we should pick this back up in the morning." Mason suggest. "That way he can rest and let everything settle in-" he places one of his big hands on Jared knee. "Because starting tomorrow you begin training."

"Training?" Jared lifted an eyebrow in question.

Mason grinned. "Just your basic abilities. Strength, speed, your heighten senses, and helping you learn to shift from human to a Kresnik."

The air around the three Lovec men vibrated with power as Mason revealed his Kresnik form to his Jared. The first thing Jared notice was his grandfather's eyes shift from blue to sliver like before when he made the whole room shake. Then his grandfather light complexion started to lessen until his skin was a grayish color.

The beating of Jared's heart sounds in Mason's ear, at the same time Jared fear mix with the already power charged area. "I'm not going to hurt you son." His words coming out more of a growl with the set of fangs making an appearance. Raising both hands up in surrender Jared can't help the gasp that leaves his mouth at seen his grandfather fingernails, which are no longer nails, but claws? At least three inches out, and appears to be very sharp.

Kyle kneels next to his Jared who was rooted in the chair, and looking a little pale. "This is what happen to you tonight when you saved me. You turned."

Jared bewildered eyes found his dad's eyes. "I turned into that." No wonder the vampire was scared of him when he attacked him.

Kyle nods. "You do, but you hair turns white."

The charged air disappears once Mason shifts back to normal. "Let's continue this in the morning shall we." With that the older Lovec male stood and exited the library.

A knock on Jared's door brought him out of his thoughts, and refocusing on the task of packing. "Come in."

His mom Bethany pokes her head into the room, a loving smile on her beautiful face. "Hey sweetie it's almost time to go. Are you almost ready?"

"Yeah, just a few more items to put in here." He said patting the blue luggage bag on his bed.

"Okay…well Louise made us some snacks for the flight back home. We leave in five minutes." Bethany was gone before Jared could say another word.

Jared closes his eyes letting his hearing expand far past his room. The last few weeks of training with his dad, grandfather, and Killian the New Orleans werewolf pack Alpha, and ally of his family Jared mastered control over his heighten senses.

Jared's perception of werewolves had been that they were pure fiction. They only existed in movies, and books and even in these werewolves had been more animal than man. Hunting and killing humans.

Of course when Killian had shown up the third day of Jared's training he realize not only were werewolves real, but they weren't feral beast like the movies or book had describe them. Well at least Killian and his pack aren't like that, but Killian warn him that some werewolves out there are savages murdering psychopaths.

With Killian and Jared's grandfather he was able to learn how to control his senses, strength, and his speed so that he could run at a normal pace when around humans. The training between Jared and his dad was sparring. Seven out of the ten times they fought Jared would in up on his butt. His dad was quick even with all the muscle, which also made his punches, and kicks stronger.

The ability that his grandfather displayed in the library with the wind and able to make the earth tremble was an ability Jared just didn't have right now. His grandpa told him he wasn't able to do that till almost a month after coming into his powers.

It was Jared's dad voice that had the young Kresnik eavesdropping in on the phone call. "Tyler."

"Yeah…It's me." This enhanced hearing was probably Jared's favorited ability with being a Kresnik.

"Where the hell have you been?" The wooden floor groaned against his dad's footsteps as he moved around the floor. "I've been calling you. Dad tried to contact you telepathically but you blocked him."

"Yeah I know Kyle." Even upstairs and not been able to see his uncle face, Jared knew something was wrong. "Something happen?"

"What happen Ty?"

Tyler exhaled. "She's gone…Grace is gone."

"What?"

Jared didn't know who this Grace was but by the anger rolling off his dad right now made it pretty clear she wasn't a family friend.

"She gone and whoever helped her killed all of the employees here." Tyler said from the other side of the phone. "It took me a few days to clean up the mess."

"You need to come home. We can figure this out as a family. Find out their next move. Jared's coming into his powers he's going to need you to help him with the more complicated abilities"

"Beacon Hills…Kyle you know-"

"I know, but you already know if Grace is free she's going to be looking for Julian."

"She can't get to him without-"

"I know, but she's going to realize that soon and come after our family." Kyle voice drop down to a whisper. "You remember what happen the last time Grace and Julian came after the family."

"Of course I remember what those son of bitches did!" Tyler voice taken on a dark tone Jared never heard from his uncle.

"Good." Kyle's voice taking the same tone as his older brother. "I'll see you in Beacon Hills."

There was silence on the other line for a second before Tyler blew out a breath. "Give me a few days to see what I can find out about the person that help Grace."

"You know if Julian gets freed this means war."

"I do." Tyler said. "See you soon little brother."

"See you soon." With that the brother ended their phone called.

Who was Julian? Why was someone trying to start a war with his family?

A deep hatred boil deep within Jared rage flowing through his veins thinking about someone attacking his family. The air in the room buzzed and Jared. The tell-tell signs he was beginning to shift.

Rushing to the bathroom mirror, he looks up meeting his reflection. Blue eyes now a metallic sliver, his sun kissed skin fading to grayish tone, claws scratching against the sink marble counter. Jared began taking slow deep breaths, closing his clawed hands into fist hard enough that claws broke skin, and drew blood.

Remember his grandfather and Killian words to find an anchor. Someone or something like a love one, or family. Flashes of his parents, grandpa, Uncle Tyler, Louise and Albert filled his mind of joyful memories. These were his family. The people that kept loved him and would protect him if need be, and he would do the same for them.

After several moments the anger subsided, and he was able to force the hunter inside of him down for the time being. Bring his gaze up to his reflection, Jared let out a graceful breath seeing he had reverted back to his normal self. Opening his hands he could the skin already closing up on it's on like it never happen.

This being a Kresnik was going to be hard work.

Beacon Hills - Thomas Family Home

7:45 P.M.

Fifteen minutes. That's how long she had left.

Megan Thomas buzzed with anticipation, and excitement in her attic. Tonight was a full moon, and tonight she would find out if she was a real witch. There was some doubt in her that the innovation spell wouldn't work. That she wasn't a witch at all, but what if she was. What type of witch was she good or bad? Good please let me be a good witch. If she was a witch was her mom a witch too, or what about her dad?

That thought had crossed her mind a few times since she had found the Book of Shadows buried under the floor boards of her attic. Was her dad a male witch and if so why leave the book behind when he left.

The sound of a book falling to the floor had Megan whirling around towards the sound. Her long brown curls slapping against her face while turning around to see her cat Duchess. Duchess the white Turkish Angora cat was sitting on the wooden stool that Megan had set one of books about witchcraft she had checked out at the library a town over.

There was no need for someone in Beacon Hills to see her at the library checking out books on witchcraft. It would have been the talk of the school. Megan Thomas messing around in witchcraft.

Picking up the book off the floor Megan places it on the old worn out couch in the attic. "Come to see me cast this spell." Megan asked the cat.

She receives a meow from Duchess, before the alarm on her cell phone goes off notifying her that the full moon is at its peak right now. Turning off the alarm, Megan nearly sprints over to the podium that held the Book of Shadows.

Megan takes a deep breathe. "Here goes nothing."

"Earth, Water, Fire, and Air

Element of magic I invoke you here"

Megan whole body began to tingle with energy. A warm wind blew throughout the attic, it hummed with magic in Megan's ear.

"Light from the moon up high

Awaken my powers buried deep inside"

Little orbs of blue and white lights appeared above Megan's head. They danced and circled around her. Duchess gave a little meow, her blue cat eyes sparked from the orb lights.

"Heart, mind, body, and soul

Fill me with the magic I behold

Heed my words

And hear my call."

Megan inhales, her eyes falling shut when the orbing lights above her head lowers and enter her body. She feels something deep within her snap and rushing to the surface. Her light tan skin giving off a soft glow, as her feet rise a good six inches off of the ground. The triple goddess pendent she had gotten in New Orleans glowed around her neck, shifting and changing into triquetra. Eyes still closed she finished the last of the spell.

"In this night and in this hour

I call forth the Ancient Powers

Come to me I call you near

Come to me and settle here"

Megan feet lowered back to the ground, the wind came to a stop, and Megan popped open her eyes. She grabs the Book of Shadows, her phone, and the library book before exiting the attic. Once back in her room she places the books under her bed, before walking into her bathroom. Flicking her bathroom light on, she makes her way to the mirror.

Nothing. She doesn't look different on the outside, but inside of her she could feel something electric, a hum of something familiar and powerful. When she goes to thread her fingers through her hair something catches her eye. On her right wrist is a black inked triquetra. Tattoo.

"A witch's mark." Megan mumbles to herself. She had read about witch's mark before she had done the spell. A witch's mark is passed down from parent to child always linking them to the other witches in their family. She read that no two witch covens had the same mark, it was impossible.

Megan eyes widen when she notice that the pendent she was wearing had also took the shape of her witch's mark. "No way" She says in a whispered tone, as her fingers trace over the pendent. "I'm a witch."

Oh this was going to be so cool.

Unknown to Megan, a man dress in black stood outside of her home looking up at the second floor window that was her bedroom. Pulling out his cell phone the man dials the familiar number.

It rings twice before an older woman answers. "This better be important," The older woman said rudely.

"The girl has unbound her powers…what do you want me to do?"

"Nothing." She said simply. "Come home…I have a plan."

"Okay." With that the man ended the phone call. Taking one more glance up the at witch's bedroom window, the man whooshed away into the night. As he ran through the town faster than the human eyes could register his ears picked up the sound of howling wolves coming from deep within the woods.
