It has been too long! I've been super busy especially with Halloween that was just yesterday so it took me longer to write this one.
Any who onto the story!

Warning! LONG FLASHBACK AHEAD!
Rin and Nobu walked quietly behind a fidgety Rangiku and a fuming Hitsugaya. Rangiku looked hesitantly at her Captain and saw that he still looked distrustful and knew that he wouldn't change his mind until he was told something. Rangiku looked back at the 'siblings' and saw them glancing at each other quietly in a silent conversation and only indicating that someone was listening with either a nod or a shake of the head. I wonder what they are thinking about. And how can they communicate like that? Rangiku thought.
What Rangiku didn't know was that it wasn't an exactly silent conversation by just their eyes, but in their minds. Long ago Rin and Nobu had to learn how to read each other's thoughts so they could communicate in complete silence. They were assassins after all.
"What should we tell them then? Should we tell them anything at all?" Nobu asked his sister.
"We have to say something, mother is right. If we tell them nothing than they will never trust us. Allies that can't even trust each other might as well not even fight." Rin said with a tiny furrow in her brows.
"Yea I agree, but what do we tell them?" Nobu said in rare seriousness.
Rin looked concentrated and made a mental sigh, "You tell Rangiku what you want and I'll tell the Captain what I want. We don't tell each other's secrets, only what we think is appropriate."
"Why do we have to talk to them individually? Wouldn't it better to do it together?" Nobu asked in confusion.
"If you haven't noticed it yet but the Captain doesn't exactly like you and you're more like Rangiku than I am." Rin said with a blank look on her face.
"Hey! I'm a very likeable guy!" Nobu said defensively. Rin just raised her eyebrow slightly at him making him sigh. "Ok I guess you're right. When should we tell them?"
"Whenever you want, but do it soon. I feel like if we wait too long than we'll lose the opportunity." Rin said looking slightly worried.
"Hey it's gonna be alright. We've gone through worse, much worse." Nobu said putting his hand on his sisters bare shoulder then grinned at her, "Besides big brother will protect his adorable little sister!"
"…You're such an idiot, you know that right?" Rin deadpanned at him.
"Yea but I'm your idiot brother, so you can't get rid of me." Nobu said with a grin still on his face.
Rin rolled her eyes at him but said nothing further, each lost in the decision of what to say to the two Shinigami ahead of them.
Soon they arrived back at the 10th division and Nobu took the opportunity to run up to Rangiku asking if she wanted to go out drinking with him. Rangiku yelled out excitedly and both of them ran off before Rin or Hitsugaya could say anything, leaving the two of them alone.
Hitsugaya was about to bid Rin goodnight and quickly return to his room to escape the tension in the air but Rin spoke before he could. "Captain?"
Hitsugaya looked down at Rin and nodded his head for her to continue, "Would you mind if we talk?"
To say Hitsugaya was surprised was an understatement, he was shocked. She really doesn't waste time does she? Hitsugaya was going to decline because he wasn't sure he was ready for any truths tonight until he saw the worry in Rin's eyes and couldn't resist and nod.
Rin led them to her room where she knew they would have some privacy. Hitsugaya was a little nervous to be in her room but quickly shook away that thought. We're here so she can tell me something, nothing more.
"This room reminds me of someplace, someplace that I wish I could forget but never will." Rin said with her back to Hitsugaya startling him a little with her sudden cryptic words.
"What place?" Hitsugaya said with confusion.
Rin paused a little scared to tell him her dark disgusting past, a past she could never run from. "My home, or my place of origin."
Rin turned suddenly to Hitsugaya and he could see to torment in her eyes. What happened to her? Rin walked toward him and stopped a foot away from him. Hitsugaya couldn't help but notice that the moonlight shining through the window only made her look more beautiful.
"I want to show you about my past. Is that acceptable?" Rin said in a monotone voice but her eyes betrayed her fear.
Hitsugaya couldn't speak with the sudden tension in the air and only nodded. What does she mean show me? Before he could blink Rin raised her hand to his temples and he was bombarded with images, memories, her memories.
Flashback (Hitsugaya's point of view)
Hitsugaya opened his eyes and saw that he was in the forest on the edge of the 80th district in the Rukongai. Why am I here?
A small groan caught my attention and I turned to see a small child getting up from the ground. She was wearing a plain cotton kimono and had long brown hair. At first I thought it was just a random child until she lifted her face and I gasped when I saw familiar eyes on a face without a mask. Rin?
This Rin was much smaller and about the age of 6 in human years. She was looking right at me and thought she could see me until she started looking around her whole surroundings.
"Where am I?" Rin said out loud to herself in a small voice. But soon she heard a snap of a twig somewhere and ran to the nearest bush in fright.
"Hello?! Is anyone there?!" A loud boy's voice said.
I couldn't see who it was yet since she hasn't seen him yet either. Rin tried to stay quiet until her stomach rumbled and she whimpered a little bit.
"Hey! Come on out! I'm not dangerous! I just don't know where I am!" The boy yelled getting louder.
Maybe he's lost just like me? Rin thought to herself which I could hear too. Soon Rin stepped out of the bush and saw a young Nobu around the age of 8 looking right at her.
"Hey do you know where we are?" Nobu asked in a much quieter voice.
Rin shook her head, "I-I just woke up not too long ago."
"Hey me too!" Nobu said bouncing up to her.
Well it looks like he still had the same energy back then, but worse. I thought and watched as Rin shrunk back a little when he got closer.
"Hey what's wrong?" Nobu stopped and asked in confusion.
"I-I," Rin stuttered and looked at the ground unable to tell him that she was still a little afraid of him.
"I won't hurt you." Nobu said softly making Rin jump in surprise when he was only a half a foot away from her. "Do you have any family?"
Rin shook her head and started to tear up a little when she realized she was all alone. "Well I guess I have no choice then." She looked up and saw Nobu acting like he was in deep thought.
"I guess we'll just have to be siblings then." Rin's eyes widened in surprise and saw him grinning at her, "My names Nobu, what should I call my new sister?"
Rin's eyes started to tear up and sniffled, "R-rin."
"Such a pretty name." Nobu said grinning at her and rushed over to her to hold her in tight hug.
Rin was surprised but started to sob and held onto Nobu like her life depended on it. I have a family now.
I was moved by Nobu's display of affection but the spell was broken when a sudden rush of wind passed over the two embracing children startling them from their embrace.
"Well ain't that nice." An unknown man said. He was tall and lanky and wearing an all-black suit making him blend into the night. His hair was a dark red and his eyes were a sharp bright yellow.
Nobu pushed Rin behind him and took up a defensive stance even though it was obvious he was scared. The man laughed at Nobu's protectiveness of his new sibling.
"Don't worry kid I ain't gonna hurt ya." Nobu looked hesitant but relaxed a bit. "So you two kiddos lost? Hungry?"
Both of the children nodded hesitantly making the man chuckle, "Perfect. Well I got a place for you two to sleep and food to eat. Wanna come?"
Nobu tensed up and was about to say no but looked at Rin behind him who looked about to pass out from starvation. He looked at the man and nodded slowly.
"Excellent, well come on don't have all night." He grabbed them both than with more force than needed and shunpo'd away.
I am jumped to a slightly large manor surrounded by tall trees and a 20 foot wall for extra coverage. I hear noise coming around the back and walk over. Soon I can see about 50 kids from all different ages training with each other. What is this place?
A girl is in my direct line of sight and realize its Rin only about 5 years older now. She is fighting another girl obviously much weaker than Rin but about 6 years older. The other girl is obviously frustrated that she can't even land a blow on Rin as she is continually knocked to the ground by her. Soon the other girl pulls out a knife and Rin is obviously shocked when the other girl charges at her in rage. But soon Rin knocks herself out of it and gracefully ducks underneath the girl and hits her so hard in the stomach that the other girl coughs up a little bit of saliva.
Soon I see that everyone is looking at them and saw the whole debacle. The girls are about to rush over to help the girl up, Rin was about to also. However, someone suddenly appears before the girl making her shake in fright. The woman has short black hair to her shoulders and dark blue eyes that are glaring at the girl.
She sneers down at the girl, "Pulling out a knife while in a simple sparring match Kana? How much more pathetic can you get?"
"B-but Hisoka I was just . . ." Kana stammered in fright.
"No excuses! If she were older than you then sure I understand but she is a mere child and you know the rules. You should be ashamed and punished. Perhaps a whipping will do." Hisoka said with obvious annoyance as her reiatsu leaked out.
Kana looked up at her in fright but a voice interrupted, "Now, now, there ain't no need for that."
I saw the man that took Nobu and Rin appear next to Ai. He smiled even more wide when Kana looked up at him with a smile but there was bloodlust behind his eyes. "She should be killed."
Kana looked up at him in shock and terror. "K-katashi . . ."
"Death is too severe Katashi, just because you haven't killed anyone lately doesn't mean you can fuck then kill the students as you please." Hisoka said with disgust.
"Aw you ruin all my fun." Katashi pouted as most of the female students shivered in fright.
Too bad he's done one of those things already to most of the older female students. I heard Rin's thoughts as she looked at Katashi warily. She jumped a little when he looked at her and grinned.
"Good job my little Rin, I knew it was a good thing that I brought ya hear." Katashi said as he sauntered over to Rin and put his hand on her shoulder making Rin visibly tense up.
"Yes your training is coming along nicely Rin, but don't get too cocky." Hisoka said looking at her over her shoulder making Rin nod. Soon Hisoka turned her attention to Kana berating her some more.
Katashi didn't let go of Rin's shoulder making her peek up at him and saw that he was looking down at her and smiled widely. "If you keep this up Rin you soon will be my new play thing." Katashi spoke into her thoughts making Rin's eyes go wide and turn her attention back to Hisoka and her lecture.
I was jumped to another time again and saw that I was in a spacious bedroom about the same as my divisions. However, there were about 20 female students all squished in the room making it seem extremely small. I saw Rin laying in the corner by the door and saw that it might have only been a year since the last vision.
Rin was sleeping peacefully until four female students jumped on Rin's futon. She immediately woke up and tried to scream but one of the girls covered her mouth. The other three dragged Rin quietly out of the room and I followed them quickly to a spacious bathroom.
"Why are we doing this in the bathroom? Wouldn't it be easier to do it outside?" One of the girls asked quietly.
Someone lit a candle revealing herself as Kana with crazed look in her eyes. "No because if we do it out there than we can't clean up all the blood."
Rin's eyes widened and she thrashed some more making the other three older girls around Kana's age falter a little. "She sure is strong. Are you sure we can do this?"
"I don't think we should do this, I mean sure she's stronger than us but it doesn't make her bad." One of the other girls said timidly.
"Don't back out now guys! If we let her go then what? She's gonna go spout her whore mouth to Hisoka then we'll all be dead. And remember that she humiliated us and took Katashi's attention away! She must pay!" Kana said almost hysterically.
The other girls thought and Rin looked up at them pleadingly. But soon hatred clouded their eyes and they nodded making Rin's eyes tear up. "Aw now don't cry. It won't hurt, much." Kana said laughing.
Kana took out a blade and put it over the flame making Rin thrash desperately. "You know that people used to rub salt into wounds to make them scar but I think the best way is when the blade is hot."
Kana turned to Rin when the blade was a molten red. She walked over to her and teasingly traced it over her neck. Kana chuckled, "I'm not gonna make it that easy. How about we give that pretty face of yours a makeover huh?"
Rin's eyes widened and the girl holding her mouth put a gag on her so her hand wouldn't get hurt. Kana put the blade a hairs-breath away from the middle of her cheek making Rin to stop moving. Kana looked her straight in the eyes and grinned menacingly, "Don't worry I'm gonna make it hurt really, really bad."
Kana put a good half an inch of the blade into Rins skin making a burning sound. Rin screamed while thrashing but one of the girls held her head still. Kana moved the blade slowly down the side of her cheek, just the corner of her lip cutting the gag, and down to her chin. Kana pulled out the blade and Rin's body went limp. The other girls dropped her body on the ground and turned to Kana.
"Was that really necessary? I mean you are gonna kill her. Why torture the girl?" One of them asked warily.
"Because the whore deserved it! Now hold her down before she wakes up." Kana said with malice.
One of the girls sighed and reached down to pin Rin down but was soon punched in the throat making a sickening cracking sound making the girl fall limp dead on the ground. The other girls stood in shock and saw Rin swiftly get up from the ground malice clear in her eyes.
One of the girls charged at her and Rin dodged her punches and kicked her in the chest so hard that her lungs collapsed as she died gasping for air. The other two girls hesitantly ran to her but Rin easily evaded them. She appeared behind one of the girls and snapped her neck then turned to the other girl as the girl pulled out a knife. She tried stabbing Rin multiple times but was easily dodged. Rin disarmed her and swiftly sliced her throat showering Rin in her blood.
Rin turned to Kana as she shook in fright and anger, "You bitch!" Kana charged at Rin but saw her disappear. Soon Kana felt a knife stabbed through her back in the same area her heart is. She looked weakly behind her and saw Rin's eyes filled with pure hatred making her shake in fear.
"Don't worry it won't hurt, much." Rin twisted the knife and heard Kana's heart slow removing the knife and letting her fall to the ground. Kana looked up at Rin and saw her bathed in blood and candlelight as she slowly bled out.
Rin started to shake and dropped the knife to the ground. Her eyes started to tear up and she saw the blood on her hands. "Well that was quite the display."
Rin slowly looked up and saw Katashi, Hisoka, and all the other grownups. "It seems that you defended yourself quite nicely. Just as expected." Hisoka commented while everyone else nodded along with her.
"A-are you saying you knew this would happen." Rin said quietly while shaking still.
"In a way yes and the only reason we didn't stop it was to see what you were truly capable of. And I must say that you are just as we expected if not more." Another women commented.
"So this was all a test?" Rin said in almost a whisper.
"In a manner of speaking, yes it was a test." Hisoka said without any emotion.
Rin looked back at her hands and slowly stopped shaking. Soon her eyes lost all light and emotion in them as her situation slowly sunk in and her body grew numb. Soon she saw a black piece of cloth was put into her hands.
"You're an assassin now, congrats!" Katashi said proudly and almost smugly.
Rin unfolded it and saw that it was a mask, soon she pulled it on her face and I could see the Rin I knew today but much younger. No emotions but it seemed that not even her eyes gave her away.
"You'll need to train some more for a few more years but you're almost ready to join the ranks." Hisoka said with slight pride.
"Your main job for now will be to assassinate the other students, the ones who don't belong here." A tall man said nonchalantly.
"Now it's time for bed, I'll show you to your private quarters." Hisoka said and Rin obediently followed.
Soon they arrived somewhere in the middle of the manor and Hisoka led her inside, "Now I know it might sound like I'm spoiling you but I feel I must since you are the youngest assassin ever. I'll allow one request, no matter what it is right now."
Rin thought about it and knew she only needed one thing right now, her family. "Can my brother come see me right now?"
Hisoka nodded her head without hesitation and left while closing Rin's door. Rin looked around the room and saw how much space she had. They stuff us in those rooms when we have twenty extra, bastards.
Rin heard the room open slowly and close. She felt her brother's presence behind her and slowly turned around. Nobu looked at Rin in shock of all the blood she had on her. But he also noticed her emotionless eyes and newly acquired mask.
"Rin, what happened?" Nobu asked while checking to make sure none of this blood was hers.
"I killed Kana and four other girls." Rin said as if she were telling him the time.
"What . . . but . . . why?" Nobu asked in obvious surprise and confusion.
Rin slowly shed her mask and heard Nobu gasp in horror. She looked and saw the rage in his eyes. Nobu slowly grabbed Rin's face to turn it so he could examine it more making Rin hiss a little. "Did they do this to you?"
"Yes, and they were planning to do much more." Rin said nonchalantly.
Nobu growled and dropped his hands pacing in her newly acquired room. And I could tell what he was thinking.
"I know brother, 'did they deserve it or not?' well in the end it was either me or them." Rin said emotionlessly.
Nobu looked at her in surprise and grabbed her upper arms. "No! You are not gonna turn into one of them! You hear me?! You're still my little sister dammit!" Nobu picked up her mask and put it in her hands. "When you wear this you can be emotionless like them. But when this is off you get to be you! Do you understand me?!" Nobu said shaking Rin a little as his eyes started to tear up. "We promised to be family forever and ever. Don't let them take you away from me."
Rin slowly started to look shocked and her eyes widened. I could see tears slowly start to creep into her eyes making her sniffle a little. She grabbed onto the front of Nobu's sleeping kimono and pull her face into his chest. Soon she was sobbing Nobu held her crying a little bit also as she told him her role now.
Soon they both sat on the ground with Rin in Nobu's lap as he held her tightly. Soon she only started to sniffle and breathe regularly. "What are we gonna do Nobu? I can't stay here, soon there will be nothing left of me to save."
"I don't know. We can't just leave. I don't want to stay either, soon we'll end up like them." Nobu said with frustration.
Rin's head perked up, "Why not?"
"Why not what lazy butt?" Nobu said grinning at his own joke.
"Why can't we just leave?" Rin said looking up at Nobu's shocked face.
"Are you crazy?! They'd kill us before we get over that wall!" Nobu said incredulously.
Rin rolled her eyes, "Not tonight dumbass. A few years from now, by then I will know everything they know and we'll both be much stronger. I could tell that many of them are wary of my potential. I'll work extra hard so when they do confront us we'll be ready."
Nobu thought about it and must have realized that it was actually a good idea but then he looked troubled, "You're gonna have to kill a lot of our classmates Rin, people we've known since we got here."
Rin looked sad and hesitant then sighed, "I have to Nobu, I'm gonna have to sacrifice for us to be free. Soon you'll have to be doing things you don't like. What other choice do we have?"
Nobu looked troubled then smiled sadly, "Wait for someone to rescue us?"
Rin smiled sadly too, "You know that'll never happen." But I have a feeling that maybe, just maybe we will be.
I jumped again and was in Rin's room again though this time she was 16 meaning it's been 4 years since then. Rin was packing a lot of clothes and with slight paranoia since she kept looking around though I'm sure she could sense anyone.
It's time, I can finally leave this hellhole with Nobu, maybe I'll kill a few of the other senior assassins before I leave? No Nobu wouldn't like that. Rin said with a little more pep in her step but suddenly paused.
Soon there was a ground shaking explosion near the wall. Rin quickly shunpo'd to near the explosion. Nobu soon joined her and both gave a silent agreement to hold off the escape for a moment even though it was a perfect time. But something told them that they had to stay.
All the senior assassins showed up a second later as a figure stepped out of the cloud dust. I soon recognized her as Maharet, soon to be Rin and Nobu's mother figure.
"Are you ready to pay for your crimes?" Maharet spoke with uncharacteristic seriousness.
"Why should we answer to you?" Hisoka said with a glare.
"Because I am your judge, jury, and now your executioner." Maharet said while pulling out her sword.
Before anyone could respond they were all hit with a tremendous amount of reiatsu. Maharet sped past all the assassins and all of them were killed instantly shocking every one of the students. Maharet put her sword away cutting off her reiatsu and turned to everyone else.
Maharet gave the smile I'm used to addressed everyone but it seemed she was looking directly at Rin and Nobu, "You're free."
Flashback End
Hitsugaya slowly opened his eyes and saw that he was sitting down with Rin across from him. She looked at him waiting to hear something, anything.
Hitsugaya opened his mouth but no words could describe what he felt and what he just witnessed so he said the first thing that popped into his head, "I didn't know, I'm sorry."
Rin nodded a little in acknowledgement, "It's a lot to take in but I wanted to show you everything."
"Why? You didn't have to show me it all." Hitsugaya said in confusion.
"It only seemed fair. You are sharing your squad with me and will have to rely on my family's help. I also know you don't trust us, especially after earlier today." Rin said in a mater-of-fact tone.
Hitsugaya nodded his head and realized that Rin trusted him with her deep dark past that he was sure took a while for her to tell her family. "Why tell me?"
Rin looked at Hitsugaya and he swore he thought he saw her eyes softened a little, "There's something about you. I can't describe it but from the moment we met I knew that our relationship would be different from all others."
Hitsugaya blushed a little when Rin referred to them having a relationship. But swiftly shook that thought away. She obviously meant in a strictly platonic way. "I'm glad you trust me and I just want to say that I do trust you now."
Rin nodded, "I'm glad. You better go to bed, lots of paperwork for you to do."
Hitsugaya groaned a little and realized Matsumoto would be hungover tomorrow so it was all on him. "Don't remind me."
"I'll help." Hitsugaya looked surprisingly at Rin, "I can help in any way that I can. I'm part of this division now too and I have a feeling you're a part of my family now too. We can help each other."
Hitsugaya looked shocked then nodded while looking slightly bashful, "I would appreciate that."
Rin nodded and Hitsugaya bid her good night and retreated to his room next door. I have a good feeling about this.
4542 words! holy hell that's the longest chapter yet and they most likely will be that way from now on, maybe who knows!
