Aqualad
"Terra?" a soft voice rang through the Tower as the aquatic prince moved through his ex-home. He had only just arrived at his home, choosing to travel through the water in favor of land due to the excessive amount of infected. To be honest he really just didn't want to see the city he had failed to protect. As he had surfaced a little ways from the tower he was able to see the ruins. Everything had been so quieted…so abandoned. A couple fires burned through the city and smoke polluted the air. He had seen a couple walkers stumbling around along the streets in the distance and a few dragging themselves acrossed the beach. He had shuddered at the stench wafting off of the city then dove back under not surfacing until he arrived inside his tower.
He had just went through the common room and forced one of the multiple doors that led out of the common room, open. A foul stench suddenly hit his nose causing the dark haired boy to recoil back, "Complain about fish…not that bad…stupid infection." He grumbled to himself, pulling at the collar of his leotard in a vain attempt to cover his nose from the reek. Realizing his uniform offered no protection from the smell he stepped into the darkness and began to ease forward, pausing a couple of times to take in the blood and various body parts littering the hall way.
He cautiously continued forward in the dark hallway, "Terra?" he called again a bit louder. The tower groaned and creaked in the forbidding silence. It was eerie to say the least but that hadn't stopped the prince from trying to locate his team-mate. The journey to his home had been hard. Contrary to popular belief he could not swim constantly for days, even he became exhausted. Even though he had a longer since of stamina and a greater amount of strength then normal people, he to became exhausted after 5 hours of constant swimming. To say the least, he was tired and weary. It had taken 3 days' worth of swimming to get here and it wore the Atlantian prince out. When he arrived he was almost over-come with relief that there had not been walkers there for him to fight, he was too weak to put up a good fight right now. All he wanted to do was find Terra, rest a couple of days and then work on getting back to the bunker.
"Ugh…nguuhh…mrungh" came an unintelligent moan from up ahead. He knew it wasn't a good idea but he couldn't help the word from slipping through his mouth as he acknowledged the sound,
"Terra?" mentally he cursed himself, backing away carefully as the groan sounded again, followed by shuffling. It had taken a few minutes but as his eyes came to adjust he was appalled by the sight in front of him. It was a young woman…if you could call her that…Her mouth appeared to be foaming with spit and blood. Her skin looked as if it was decaying off of her body and face, her hair missing in several chunks along her skull. Her teeth were stained yellow and red and her gums were a purplish-blue color. He blanched and turned, running down the hall on heavy, exhausted feet.
His heart sped up and his gut clenched as he heard the advancing screeching. He raced down the corridor taking complicating twists and turns. His legs screamed at him to stop and his lungs pleaded for mercy but he kept running down the dark hall ways. Something caught his foot and he was violently flung to the ground from the momentum. He didn't even have time to tuck his head in a roll like all those hours of early morning training had taught him. The aquatic prince cried out in pain as his head viciously struck the floor, "AHH!" he groaned and turned over to see the zombie looming over him. Vainly he tried to get to his feet and fight but the world spun. Closing his eyes he accepted his fate: He was going to die in the hands of the dead. Who knows? He might even come back to attack his friend. Oh. That was a wonderful last thought. His eyes squeezed shut and he awaited the pain…the pain that never came.
Instead his ears picked up the sound of another screech then a grunt of frustration then a dull thump. Another moan and screech followed and Aqualad forced his eyes, hoping to meet the sight of his blonde friend leaning over him, no avail. Instead he met the sight of the back of a brunette girl. He couldn't see her face but her wavy brown hair was pulled back into a high, tight pony tail. She was wearing black jeans and an army green shirt with a black belt securing her pants. And black combat boots. What intrigued him most though was the various weapons she had strapped to her person. She had a dual pistols strapped to her hips, an assault rifle slung over her back. A cross bow by her feet and a dagger strapped to her thigh. She also had several grenades strapped a crossed her belt.
He had met so many villains and heroes he had lost track, but never had he seen any of them fight with such grace and swiftness that his savior fought with. She had a sword in her hands which she was using to mow down the horde of walkers stumbling towards them. She was the only thing standing between him and his death and she was doing a pretty good job. That was his last thought as a black wave washed over his eyes and he fell into a blissful sleep.
Kole
Kole paced nervously in the girl's bunker room. She had gotten a fleeting glance at Beast Boy and it was enough to make her want to run all the way back home. She hated to admit that it scared her but it did. Seeing her friend like that shook her to her very core. She hadn't actually ever seen one of the "Zombies" Her and Gnark had found the dinosaurs not bothering them that much and had gone to investigate. They had searched for days and eventually found what they were looking for…almost. They had found a baby pterodactyl on its last breath. They had tried to save it but no success, they continued onwards and found, much to their shock and horror, a grave site for their pre-historic friends. Dead carcasses were littered everywhere.
After only a brief glance, Gnark had taken her home without an explanation. He had seemed worried though and a few hours Robin was calling them, telling them that it wasn't safe anymore and they were to meet them at the safe house. They had left immediately and when they arrived Robin had explained the situation. Kole had found it hard to believe but she trusted her friends and seeing Beast Boy today horrified her. She knew, without a shadow of doubt, that they were telling the truth.
The blonde boy sitting on her bed was watching her pace back and forth. She glanced over at him occasionally but kept on pacing. She wanted to know if Beast Boy was okay, she wanted to know if they would all be okay. Suddenly Jericho was in front of her in front of her, thrusting something into her hands. The pink-haired girl met his gaze for a couple of seconds before glancing down to read what he had written,
He'll be okay. Raven will help him.
Kole stared down at it shocked before tear slipped from her eye and slid down her cheek like a shining crystal. She gripped the note pad so hard her knuckles turned white, "H-How do you know?" she cried before another tear slipped down her cheek making a salty, glittering trail in its wake. He gently pried the note-book from her hands and grabbed a pencil. Another tear followed after the other, then another, then another. Before she knew it, she was crying. A gentle thumb suddenly caught one of the wet crystals and Kole looked back up from swollen eyes and met his green ones. He wiped it away and slowly drew his hand back and handed her what he had written. Scrawled across the paper in elegant hand writing were two words. Two words that clutched Kole's heart and caused her to smile sadly at her mute friend. She clutched the paper and brought them to her chest, bowing her head and letting the tears fall. Jericho's arms went hesitantly around her and held in a close, comforting embrace. One that she welcomed. She would do as Jericho had told her to, because that's really all she could have right now. She would do as he requested. She would-
Have Faith.
Bumble-Bee
The yellow and black clad girl stood, motionless beside the couch in the common room. Cyborg was sitting on the said couch with his head bowed and his arms resting on his knees. Speedy was pacing across the room, back and forth, back and forth. Wally was standing on the other side of the couch, casting anxious glances at the door. Gnark was in the kitchen making who knows what. And last but not least, Starfire was sitting, cross legged, on the cold floor staring dully at the door.
She didn't need Raven's empath powers to know that everyone was either upset, anxious, or scared…maybe even all three. Looking at her un-smiling team-mates made Bee's heart clench with guilt. She was in charge of a whole city and she had let, not only the whole city, but he team mates down. They were all relying on her to keep everything orderly and controlled and safe in the East but she had done the thing she hated the most. She had failed. Miserably. She didn't even want to remember the day but she couldn't help the memory from flooding in. She just wanted to escape it. There was no escape.
*Flashback* (A/N: I hate reading in italics so I'm just going to tell you when a flashback starts or stops)
It had started off as an ordinary day…don't they all? Mas y Menos were zooming around the house, just to zoom. Speedy was leaning, nonchalant, against the wall switching from fixing his hair and inspecting his arrows for the slightest little smudge. Aqualad was swimming laps in the pool and Bee was sitting on the couch talking to Cyborg on her phone. That's when the alarm went off. Immediately, they had responded and they were all shocked to find it was Red-X behind the mischief. What was he doing in this part of the U.S? But they got down to business of taking him down.
Not surprisingly they weren't able to capture him, he got away, and they were all feeling sort of down. Bee had offered for them to go on a walk through central park, maybe it would cheer them up. Everyone was reluctant but they all eventually agreed and headed down.
Everything was so peaceful at the park, there were civilians running every which direction just for the fun of it. Spotting a hill Bee suggested that they climb to the top just to be able to see everything. The hill was a steep inclined that didn't belong in the cheery park but it was there nonetheless. They had finally made it to the very top of the hill when a little girl ran smack into Aqualad and both of them went tumbling down the hill. Turns out Aqualad had busted up his knee but the little girl ran off uninjured. Aqualad's wound wasn't that bad but it did need to be bandaged. So they all had gone back down the hill to go help him back to the tower.
That's when they all noticed a small boy sitting alone under a large oak tree with his back turned to them. He was hunched over and shaking. Bee assumed he was hurting or crying because the way his clothes were torn in several places. Glancing over at her other team mates she ordered Mas y Menos to go find out what was wrong and help the boy while they returned to the tower. They would all meet up there.
The sun was starting to set and the boys still hadn't returned. Bee had started to get worried and ordered the team into a search party. They had scoured the whole city before Bee stumbled past an ally and froze in her tracks. Horror seized her and she had fell backwards from the shock. There, kneeling on the ground, was Mas and the little boy from earlier. That's not what shocked her though. What shocked her was that both little boys ad blood on their hands and faces and Menos was laying on the ground half eaten.
Bee gasped and lurched backwards, stumbling over a stray can. Unfortunately the echoing sound grasped the boys attention and they turned around and began stumbling towards the shocked Bee, groaning all the way. Bee scrambled backwards-
*End Flash Back*
Bee was jerked out of her flashback by a comforting hand on her shoulder. She glanced up and saw Speedy standing before her. His mask was off and he had salty tears running down his face. His jade green eyes were rimmed with red. That's when the leader of the Titan's East realized she was crying as well. A sob escaped her lips and Speedy pulled her into a comforting embrace, stroking her back lightly. Both friends stood there and cried silent tears on each other's shoulders. Both were thinking of the exact same thing and both wished that they would wake up from this nightmare.
A/N: WOO! That's the end of that Chapter. You guys all probably hate me right now :-/ I make you wait forever for a chapter and don't even satisfy your curiosity of what's going on with Raven and Beast Boy. I can explain, however. This chapter was 1) a glimpse on how everyone else feels because Raven isn't the only one that's being affected. And 2) This chapter opened the gates to my proposal. So here it is. I was thinking the other day and that's when I realized that Titans weren't the only survivors…I mean civilians survive the apocalypse to if their like…awesome. So anyways… The girl that saved Aqualad is an original character and believe it or not going to be a civilian. So here's my proposal: If you leave me a review, you can also leave me a civilian character that you would like to add in my story. Just follow the Example below and I will try to add in as many of you characters as I can.
