Paddy Doyle was ushered into the room in handcuffs. His face revealed that he was surprised to see Jane standing at the opposite side of the room with her arms crossed in front of her chest.

"Hello Detective Rizzoli" Paddy started.

"Enough with the pleasantries Doyle." Jane spat. "Who did you piss off?"
Paddy continued to stare at the dark haired detective with a blank expression. "I am not sure that I know what you are talking about. I have pissed off a lot of people in my day?"

"It's Maura…." Jane paused. "She…. There is a hit out on her."
"And you assume it's because of me? Because I am her mob father?" Paddy retorted. "How do you know it's not because of you? You aren't making any friends out there as a detective, Rizzoli."

"It's not just Maura, Paddy. Three. There are three dead mobsters' kids. And if you don't start talking then there will be more."

Paddy exhaled. "Where is she now?"

"She's home." Jane answered.

"There's a mob hit out on my daughter and you left her by herself?" Paddy rose from his chair angrily.

"Not your daughter, Paddy. She was never yours. You gave up that right." Jane shouted.

Paddy sighed in defeat and shook his head softly. "Go home and be with her Rizzoli. This is my mess. I will fix this."

"You will fix this? From in prison?" Jane asked. "…..Of course." She answered her own rhetorical question.

"I want answers Paddy. I can't leave here without an answer." Jane pleaded. "I need something. Anything."

"You want something? She is only safe with you. Don't trust anyone." Paddy answered.

Jane's heart leapt in her throat, as she left the room hurriedly. There was a security detail on Maura. She reached for her phone and held the power button down until it sprang to life. 5 missed calls, 2 text messages, and a voicemail. Jane forewent the messages and dialed Maura's number. No answer. She tried again with the same end result. She swallowed the lump in her throat and pressed the play button on the voice message …..

- BREAK -

Maura fell to the kitchen floor sobbing as the door closed behind Jane. The slamming door had drowned out all sounds of Jane's name being screamed from Maura. She knew she had just made the biggest mistake, although she was sure that all of the signs of attraction were there. She just didn't know how she could be so reckless with a friendship that meant so much to her.

Maura wiped the tears off of her face and reached for her phone as she tried to quiet her sobs. She called Jane's number. It went straight to voicemail.

Maura sent a quick asking Jane to answer her phone. After five minutes of no reply, she tried to call Jane again and again. She sent another text message after thirty minutes of no reply. "Jane, please. I am sorry. We can forget it ever happened. Just answer your phone."

Maura waited and tried calling again. Her patience had started to wear thin. The doctor's pain started to turn into anger. She dialed Jane's number again, but this time she left a message.

"Jane, call me back. You are acting like a child. I ….." the front door swung open. Maura turned around expecting to see the detective. However, two large men stood in the door way and the doctor's screams filled the cellphone as it fell to the floor.

-BREAK-

Anxiety filled Jane's body as the message played through her cellphone. She had started to relax when she heard the pause in Maura's voice and then her screams as her voice faded. Then all at once a loud crash played through her speaker and the connection was broken. Jane raced back to Maura's house at terrifying speed, calling Detective Frost and Sergeant Korsak on the way.

When Jane arrived to Maura's house, Korsak and Frost were already there. She tried to run past them and into the front door, but Sergeant Korsak grabbed her around her waist and pulled her away from the scene with the help of Detective Frost.

"Let me go." Jane yelled. "Where is she?"

"Jane, she is gone." Korsak answered.

"What do you mean gone?" Jane asked.

"I mean," Korsak straightened his suit jacket as he let go of the detective. "She isn't here, Jane. She was taken."

Korsak attempted to calm her down.

"Jane." Frost stepped in.

Jane's eyes went to her partner. "We need to find Maura."
"And we will," Frost replied. "But we have to treat this like every case."

"I need your phone, Jane."

Jane stalled. "What if she calls?"

Frost sighed. "There is evidence on it. The techs will analyze the voicemail. It may have something important on it. In the mean time, we will take your sim card and place it in a standard phone. If she calls you, she will get you. I promise. So please, I need your phone." Frost said handing out his empty hand.

"Ok. Lets go." Jane said as she placed the phone in Frost's hand and walked briskly to the patrol car.
