Hey guys I know its been a while but its been pretty stressful lately. But I finally had the time to update! Yay! Sorry it took so long.
I promise I'm still working on this and writing this.
Some time had passed and Mistfall knew of Bluestar's desperation for more warriors. Especially after the loss from the day before. Mist walked through the forest with Bluestar and her patrol. The prophecy that Bluestar had told he rang out in her head.
"Fire alone can save out clan..." Mistfall repeated in her head. She noticed Bluestar pause to star at a kittypet. His fur was the color of flames and Mistfall whispered.
"Do you think that's..." Mistfall trailed off knowing Bluestar knew what she meant.
"Yes possibly. I'll talk to Whitestorm and Lionheart. You keep and eye on him." Bluestar said and Mistfall nodded.
A few sunrises had passed and Mistfall watched Graypaw attack the kittypet. The kittypet turned and faced Graypaw which surprised her and she locked eyes with Bluestar. Bluestar walked out of the bushes with Lionheart following behind. Mistfall trailed behind not wanting to scar the kittypet with her scars. Mistfall sat next to Bluestar and looked over the kittypet her one ice blue eye meeting the kittypet's green eyes. The kittypet looked back nervously from where he was crouched. Mistfall wasn't really listening to the conversation between Bluestar and the kittypet till she started yelling at him. Her eye snapped over to look at him and the fur on her back slightly rose but she remained calm. Her ice blue gaze staring at him. She was surprised by the kittypet's apology. He was clever and curious. She met Bluestar's gaze getting the meaning of the look.
"Perhaps you should find these things out for yourself. Would you like to join Thunderclan?" Bluestar asked after sharing a glaze with Lionheart.
Mistfall was amused by the look of surprise on the kittypet's face. Though looking at the fence brought back memories. She wondered with a wave of sadness how her brother Tiny was fairing and what had happened to him but her thoughts were interrupted by Graypaw.
"But kittypet's cant be warriors! They don't have warrior blood!" Graypaw blurted out. Mistfall looked amused and spoke before Bluestar could.
"So are you saying I can't be a warrior Graypaw?" Mistfall asked getting a look of shock from Graypaw.
"O-oh! No not at all! You're a great warrior! Wait...You're a kittypet?" Graypaw asked.
"Yes. I was just a kit when the clan took me in. But yes I was born in a twoleg nest." Mistfall said.
"Well...then I guess kittypet's can be warriors. I'm sorry Mistfall." Graypaw said.
"It's alright not many cats know anymore. No one really talks about it anyway." Mistfall said.
The kittypet looked at Mistfall curiously. She had a feeling she knew the question that the young tom wanted to ask. But before he could Liionheart spoke.
"Bluestar is only offering you training, young kit. There is no guarantee you would become a full warrior. It might prove to be too difficult for you. After all, you are used to a comfortable life." Lionheart said getting the kittypet's attention. Mistfall felt a little relieved thanking him with a grateful glance which he returned with a subtle nod.
"Why offer me a chance then?" The ginger kittypet asked.
"You are right to question our motives, young one. The fact is Thunderclan needs more warriors." Bluestar said. Misfall cut in before Lionheart could speak.
"Bluestar doesn't make this offer lightly. If you train with us you stay with us. There's no going both ways with a paw in each world." Mistfall said after locking the kittypet in a stern gaze she stared off careful to look so the kittypet didn't have to stare at the scarred hollow place where her eye should be. She zoned out hearing Bluestar talk about the perks of joining Thunderclan as well as the downsides. Finally Mistfall spoke.
"We should go. You need to join the Moonhigh patrol and I have to be ready for my training session with Ravenpaw tomorrow." Mistfall said.
"Right. Lionheart will be here tomorrow at sunhigh. Answer him then." Bluestar said and she lead the way back with Lionheart and Graypaw on her heels. Mistfall looked back at the kittypet and nodded goodbye and she headed off after them. When they returned to camp Mistfall saw Eaglepelt purred approaching the tom.
"Hey! You're back. Hungry? I'm starving." Eaglepelt purred.
"Yes I am. But you shouldn't have waited for me to eat." Mistfall purred looking amused.
"But I wanted to eat with you." Eaglepelt said licking her between the ears a warm look in his aqua eyes.
"Still. You didn't have to wait. But come on lets go eat." Mistfall purred heading over to the freshkill pile with Eaglepelt. Mistfall grabbed a squirrel and Eaglepelt grabbed a sparrow. They sat down and shared freshkill. Mistfall told him about her encounter with the kittypet and he looked surprised.
"Really?" Eaglepelt asked through a mouthful of sparrow.
"Yes." Mistfall said with a nod swallowing her bite of squirrel.
"So how is training with Ravenpaw?" Eaglepelt asked.
"Great! He's gonna make a great warrior." Mistfall purred looking over at her apprentice. He'd opened up a lot from when they's first started out.
"You're an amazing mentor. Its no surprise. You've managed to get him to open up too. You truly are amazing." Eaglepelt purred making Mistfall's ears heat up.
"I wouldn't say that. But I should get some sleep I have sunhigh patrol with Tigerclaw, Redtail, and Ravenpw. I also promised to take Ravenpaw out to train tomorrow." Mistfall said.
"Busy as always. I'll come with you. I have dawn patrol." Eaglepelt said and the two finished the prey and headed into the warrior's den curling up in their nests. Mistfall fell asleep pressed against Eaglepelt.
Sunrise came and Eaglepelt was already off on patrol when Mistfall woke. She padded out of the den and was met by Ravenpaw.
"What are you teaching me today?" Ravenpaw asked.
"We'll work on battle moves. But we also have sunhigh patrol so we'll need to be back before then." Mistfall purred and Ravenpaw nodded and followed his mentor as she lead the way out the camp entrance. Mistfall knew she was starting to gain weight and it wasn't because it was newleaf. Of course Mistfall was too stubborn not wanting to give up her freedom just yet. Though she was excited to be carrying developing kits.
"Alright ready?" Mistfall asked Ravenpaw when they got to the Sandy Hollow.
"Yeah." Ravenpaw said with a nod focusing on his mentor.
"Great now I'm gonna show you this move. It's one I taught myself but it can be modified for a cat with two eyes." Mistfall said. She dropped low to the ground angling her head so her eye was focused on her imaginary opponent. She moved swiftly lunging and staying low. She leaped to the side to avoid an imaginary foe and leaped landing on the imaginary foe's back raking it with her paws.
"Did you get that? I'll break it down so its easier to learn. But you try it on me." Mistfall said. Ravenpaw nodded dropping low. His eyes focused on her and she moved quickly. He was fast but Mistfall leaped over him and spun before he could recover and patted him with her paws and pinning him down.
"Not fast enough and you didn't dodge fast enough." Mistfall said.
"I want to try again." Ravenpaw said.
"Alright one more time then I'll break it down for you." Mistfall said letting him up. Ravenpaw got back into position and tried again he was faster but he did leap quick enough and Mistfall had him pinned again.
"Better. Now here's what you do." Mistfall said showing him how to do it. They practiced that and a couple other moves till it was nearly sunhigh. They returned to camp and joined Redtail's patrol. They were patroling by the stream not far from the sunning rocks when they were met by Riverclan cats.
"This is Thunderclan territory. Stay out or next Riverclan cat we find here will be shredded." Redtail warned Oakheart and Mistfall's fur bristled. She could hear Tigerclaw's claws scrapping against the ground and Ravenpaw shifted next to her.
"Riverclan needs the Sunning rocks you have the forest to hunt in! Myy clan will be fed no matter what you threaten." Oakheart hissed and ordered his patrol to attack. Mistfall was ready when a Riverclan cat lunged for her on her blind side. Mistfall reared up on her hindlegs to avoid the attack coming down on her opponent claws unsheathed hissing. Her opponent hissed whirling about to bite her shoulder. Mistfall hissed and turned her head to bite the attacker's muzzle. The Riverclan warrior yowled and tried to get her to let go. Mistfall heard Ravenpaw yowl in pain and looked to see a large Riverclan warrior had him pinned. She released her opponent swiping at them as she rushed to her apprentice's aid. She leaped onto the warrior's back digging her claws into his fur. The warrior struggled to shake her off. Ravenpaw had a bad wound on his shoulder.
"Go Ravenpaw!" Misfall hissed as she was thrown from the warriors back and the tom turned on her hissing.
"No!" Ravenpaw said leaping next to his mentor as she reared up swiping at the warrior's muzzle. Ravenpaw rose up and matched her blow for blow. Then he dropped down going for his legs with nips and swipes. The tom backed away hissing and eventually retreated. Mistfall and Ravenpaw split up and Mistfall doe back into battle. Two Riverclan cats teamed up and it was hard for her to defend against their unrelenting attacks. Their claws raked her face making her his in agony as blood ran into her eye. Mistfall lunged at one hissing and swiping viciously with her claws knocking them down. She felt the other one leap onto her back as claws racked her back and sides. Mist hissed and the other one knocked her off balance swiping at her muzzle. Mistfall yowled and was rloeved when Redtail appeared knocking the one in her back away hissing.
"Are you alright?" The Deputy asked.
"Yes thank you." Mistfall said getting up. Redtail nodded and attacked Oakheart hissing. Mistfall turend to face one of her previous attackers hissing she leaped tackling them and rolling using the momentum to send the cat flying with a powerful kick from her hindlegs. The cat didn't have time to get up Mistfall was upon them swiping and clawing. The cat yowled and retreated. Mistfall helped Rvenpaw fend off his opponent when Mistfall heard a terrible crash and saw the Riverclan cats scattering and retreating. Ravenpaw had left her side and Mistfall hadn't noticed going to check on the rest of the patrol. After she was satisfied that everyone was okay she was about to go find Ravenpaw when he appeared looking wild eyed.
"What is it?" She asked him looking every concerned blocking view of him from the others.
"Redtail...Redtail is dead...T-tigerclaw...he...he killed him." Ravenpaw said softly. Mistfall felt her fur stamd on end and a soft rumble escaped her throat.
"Come on lets go tell the clan." Mistfall said urgently her wounds stinging and bleeding heavily. Ravenpaw nodded and Mistfall told the nearest cat she had to take Ravenpaw back to camp since his wounded shoulder looked serious. After they got to the bushes Ravenpaw bolted. Mistfall raced after him finding it hard to keep up with him. She was right behind him when he burst into camp. She saw the kittypet without a collar and all the clan looked at them. The clan looked shocked at the two blood covered cats.
"Mistfall are you alright?" Eaglepelt said rushing to her side and sniffing her.
"I'm okay." Mistfall purred a little nuzzling him. She felt hi relax a little.
"What happened?" Blustar asked looking at them
"We were attacked by Riverclan." Mistfall spoke up.
"Where?" Bluestar asked.
"By the stream not far from the Sunning rocks...Redtail warned Oakheart that the next Riverclan cat caught on Thunderclan territory would be killed. But Oakheart wouldn't back down..." Ravenpaw started not putting weight on his shoulder as the ground around him turned red as was the ground around Mistfall she remained strong though she leaned more against Eaglepelt.
"Are you alright?" He asked concerned.
"Yes..." Mistfall said.
"Then the fighting started it was so vicious. I couldn't really tell what was going on...then I saw Oakheart had Redtail pinned and..." Ravenpaw colapsed before he could finish.
"Redtail is...Dead." Mistfall said falling to the ground Eaglepelt panicking.
"Spottedleaf!" Mistfall heard her old mentor cry and she looked her eye half closed at her apprentice. Then at Eaglepelt as he worriedly scrambled about her. She could hear his panicked voice but she couldn't quite make out what he said. Spottedleaf appeared moments later to tend to her. Mistfall saw Tigerclaw drag in Redtail's body and she let her fur bristle as she glared at the dark tabby warrior.
"She needs to stay with me. I fear for the kits with how bad her wounds are and how much blood she is losing." Spottedleaf said.
"What? She's pregnant?" Eaglepelt asked shocked.
"Yes." Spottedleaf said.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Eaglepelt asked her.
"I was going to." Mistfall said looking at him.
"Come on she needs rest. Lets get her to my den. Ravenpaw too." Spottedleaf said. With a nod both Mistfall and Ravenpaw were taken to the medicine cat's den. There Mistfall and Ravenpaw were taken care of and left to sleep which Mistfall gratefully did.
Oh boy that was a long chapter. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the chapter. Thank you for reading!
