Chapter 10

James was staring into the fire when I walked up behind him so I asked "Is something interesting happening in there?" And craned my head to see. I caught a fleeting glimpse of a man's face before it disappeared. I wondered if I had seen it at all. James turned around with a withered look on his face. "I don't want you to be hurt Kate. I want you to be happy." I was surprised to see him not joking and being completely serious.

"I'm not going to get myself hurt James." I said

"THEN WHY DID SIRIUS WALK YOU TO DEFENCE?" James exploded "HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU? HE'S BAD NEWS! HE'S A WOMANIZER! HE'LL GO OUT WITH ANYTHING THAT STAYS STILL FOR LONG ENOUGH! I'VE KNOWN HIM FOR 5 YEARS! HE'S TRYING TO USE YOU!"

"Do you really think I'm that stupid James?" I asked him, trying to keep my voice level and controlled. "Do you think the many times you've told me that he's a womanizer haven't sunken in? Do you really think that I'd disregard your opinion so thoroughly? I haven't forgiven Sirius. Far from it. So I'm not going to get hurt. But if I do go out with him, then you have to realise it's my choice and I accept any and all of the consequences." James looked like he'd been slapped. He opened his mouth to say something, but soon closed it again. I walked back to my dormitory, leaving him gaping like a fish.

"KATE! WAKE UP!" I woke up to a large pair of brown eyes staring straight at me. On closer inspection they were Andromeda's eyes.

"What is it? I'm sleeping!"

"My lovely cousin requests your presence at breakfast this morning and he also requests you go down early."

I grumbled, but not too much.

"You look marvellous." The smarmy student said as I descended the stairs.

"I'm in my uniform idiot, I doubt I look anything other than 'like a student'" I said as I approached him.

"Yes, but you madam make it look delightful." Sirius said with a slight bow. He then offered me his arm. "Would you madam give me the immense pleasure of accompanying me to breakfast?"

"Hmm." I said, looking him up and down. "I guess I could spare a little time to eat with you."

"Magnificent!" He said as he took my arm and started running off through the portrait hole. He ran until we were opposite a painting of a bowl of fruit.

"I thought we were going to breakfast." I said, crossing my arms and pouting.

"We are having the greatest breakfast known to man." He said as he reached out, tickled the pear, and pulled me into a room full of house-elves. Before I could ask what the greatest breakfast known to man was, three house-elves ran forward carrying a tray of cupcakes and desserts. My mouth fell open as my eyes beheld the tray of all my favourite foods. I knew Sirius was looking at me, but I was too overwhelmed to speak, so I just turned and hugged him. He returned the hg before saying "Come on, let's eat!"

I smiled as I saw what was on the tray. There were chocolate cupcakes (my favourite snack of all time) chocolate chip muffins, chocolate cereal, pancakes and toast. All my favourite breakfast foods. I know that it's a weird combination but I love all of them! Sirius must have been paying attention to what I eat in the morning. I didn't know where to start, so I just took one of everything and laid it on my plate. I could see Sirius smirking out of the corner of my eye as I started attacking a cupcake. This was the best breakfast ever!

When breakfast was finished Sirius swept me up and carried me out of the kitchen. He then proceeded to take me into a secret passageway. "I assume you enjoyed breakfast." Was all he said, and even in the dimness of the passage, I could tell he was smirking.

"It was okay, I guess." I replied, teasing him.

"Then I assume you won't want my next surprise." He said, his smirk widening.

Even though I hated giving in, I loved surprises so I caved. "I guess breakfast wasn't that bad..."

"That's what I like to hear." And with that Sirius swept me up again and along the passageway until we reached another room that looked entirely empty.

"This is my surprise?" I asked, feeling annoyed that I'd given in so easily.

"No." Sirius said, moving towards me. "This is." He pulled me in and kissed me eagerly, his tongue already pushing at my lips. But I had given in once this morning, and this time I was going to make him work for it. He pulled back long enough for me to see a mischievous glint in his eye before he started making his way lower down my neck. Against all of my better judgement I moaned with pleasure, and he took advantage of this to slip his tongue into my mouth. Then it was a battle of dominance, which didn't last long, as he overpowered me quickly. Our tongues then proceeded to explore every inch of each others mouths and his hand began to lift my shirt. I decided that the only way to make this fair was if he was shirtless too, so I proceeded to remove his shirt too. He was pulling me down onto a sofa that I hadn't realised was there when the door swung open and a boy entered the room. I couldn't see him very well because Sirius was on top of me obstructing my view, but I froze as a heard a familiar voice saying "Sirius, you have been busy."
