"Well...This is kind of disappointing," Danny noted.

When he had opened his eyes Danny was greeted with darkness. Nothing was there except a little screen that showed him what was happening.

Danny realized that he wasn't in his body anymore, he was somewhere else. His mind maybe? Or may-

"You just had to put on the helmet, didn't you?" A familiar voice said.

Danny turned around to see Ex with his arms crossed and his face set in a scowl.

"Ex, you're here! How are you here?" he asked

Ex sighed. "Yeah I'm here; remember I live in your body now. When you put on the helmet it not only removed you from your body but me too."

"So are we…" he trailed off

"In the helmet? Yes we are." Both Ex and Danny looked toward where the new voice. Kent came walking out with a smile.

Danny's mouth dropped open.

"Mr. Nelson, aren't you...dead?" Danny asked meekly.

"Yup but hey, don't worry about it as soon as this is over my spirit will ascend and I will be reunited with my Enza," he reassured the ghost hero.

He then looked over to Ex and continued to smile. "So you're the little demon I've been sensing, didn't know you were in a contract kid."

"In contract with a useless demon," Danny mumbled.

"Hey! I'm not useless," Ex said defensively.

"All you do is annoy me all day."

"I help you with your homework."

"You fan boy about anime all the time to the point it drives me insane!"

"Well you fan boy over space and rockets and you don't hear me complaining about it do ya?!"

"What do you mean? I do not do that!"

"Uh yah, you do!"

"I do not you dimwit."

"I am not a dimwit!"

"Keep telling yourself that."

The two glared at each other furiously neither backing up; the sound of Nelson's laughter however broke their stares off and caused them to blush from acting so childish in front of the man.

"You two remind me of another young man I knew and his demon," Nelson said as he calmed down from laughing.

Both looked at him in surprise.

"You've meet others who were in a contract with a demon?" Danny asked curiously.

"Yes, if you live as long as I have you'll meet all sorts of people," Nelson answered.

Ex raised his hand. "Um, Mr. Nelson I know we just met and all and you said you would be able to leave the helmet after the fight is over but why can't you know, ascend to the heavens now or something like that?" Ex asked.

"Ah, well you see I'm probably here because I served the helmet's master for so long," Nelson explained.

"Master?" Danny asked.

"He means that Lord of Order, Nabu is his name, right?" Ex said.

"You are correct," Nelson said. "I'm not surprised a demon would know about a Lord of Order."

Ex just gave him a weak smile.

"Considering all the stories I heard about Lord of Orders killing demons who were under the control of Klarion and his kind, it's kind of hard not to know about them," Ex said with a shudder.

"Is that why you were freaking out when I was putting on the helmet?" Danny asked.

Ex nodded.

"I wouldn't worry about Nabu kid, he may not like chaos or the creatures who represent it but he can be rezoned with...most of the time," Nelson tried to reassure the demon.

"And that makes me feel so much better," Ex sarcastically said with a roll of his eyes.

Danny elbowed him in the gut and set a glare at his demon.

"Ouch!" Ex glared at him. "Sorry." He mumbled to the sorcerer

Nelson just smiled in understanding. Danny took this time to look at the screen to see that Nabu was winning the fight.

The Lord of Order was easily dodging Klarion's red beams and other attacks like trying to crush him with rock pillars that he made from the tower. Danny looked around quickly though trying to see if Nokoru was attacking Nabu too but saw in the back that Wally was fending the ghost off.

He was using his speed to keep up with Nokoru's attacks with his katana swiftly dodging the deadly blade. Wally would quickly punch or kick the ghost from behind before zipping away. He missed a lot though because Nokoru would turn intangible and he would fall through but he would swiftly recover just in time to narrowly dodge the ghost's attack. When Wally did land hits he made sure they counted.

Besides some close calls, Danny could confidently say that they were winning.

"I'm glad to see were winning," Danny said.

"Yeah but let's hope they don't mess up," Ex committed.

Doctor Fate was all of sudden pushed down by a ray of Klarion's red energy on the back.

"Like that." Ex frowned

"Crap! That stings!" Danny yelped as he fell to his knees.

Ex crouched down by him making sure he was okay.

"I'm guessing this is a side effect from the helmet. Even though Danny isn't in his body he can still feel the damage can't he?" Ex asked Nelson.

"Unfortunately it is; so you can see why I haven't put on the helmet for 65 years."

"Ugh, he better not lose," Danny got back on his feet as Ex doubled check him. "I'm not in any rush to see my family."

Danny caught from the corner of his eye the look Ex was giving him. It seemed somewhat in between of saying "That wasn't what you were saying when we first meet" and a more curious look. Danny couldn't tell what the other emotion he spotted was but chose to ignore his look and turned his attention back to the scene.

Wally flipped over the ghost dodging the blade once again. He was sure the blade wouldn't get him and it didn't though he didn't take into account that the white mist that clung to the blade would form around him, capturing the speedy hero.

"Ah crap, this is gonna hurt!" He was then thrown across and landed roughly back onto the ground. He landed near Klarion's cat who hissed at him.

During this time Wally had been half-listening to Danny's, errr, Doctor Fate's speech or half-listing since he was busy getting the snot beaten out of him.

Doctor Fate kept implying something about how neither Lords of Chaos nor Order could exist on earth unless they had a host of some kind. What Wally could gather and from what Nelson had told them while they were in the elevator, was that the real Doctor Fate had used the helmet to stay on earth while also using a human.

So Klarion had to have something similar to that in order to stay here but he wasn't wearing a helmet and Wally was sure that was Klarion's own body was not a host so what was the Lord of Chaos using to stay in this plane?!

Klarion let out a growl.

"Stop blabbing Nabu!" Klarion started to glow with same red energy as his blasts and his cat glowed with the same energy too.

Wally spotted Doctor Fate glancing down at the cat as it steamed with the same energy as it's master. His eyes widen in realization.

The cat is his anchor! Wally thought or at least hoped he was right.

So without thinking Wally scooped up the red eyed tabby as it hissed at him and ran past Klarion as he heard the villain curse at him and threw it up to Doctor fate.

The elder hero wasted no time to fire a golden ray at the cat while it was mid aired.

"Meoowwr!" That cat rolled onto the ground but it survived much to Wally's surprise.

Klarion's face twisted into one could only describe as a demon's face, having silted eyes and fangs poking out of his mouth. He gave Wally a chill-boning glare before he glared at Doctor Fate.

"I can't believe you would hurt a defenseless pussy cat!"

Doctor Fate narrowed his eyes.

"We all know that creature is no cat Witch boy." As he said this the cat started to flicker in and out of sight.

Wally gasped before smirking. It seemed his guess about the cat being Klarion's anchor to earth was right.

Though it was short lived as the same white mist had captured him again and pulled him face to face with Nokoru.

He smiled nervously. "Hey there?"

Nokoru gave him an unamused expression before punching him.

However he was let go as a golden beam hit the ghost causing him to fall back on his bum.

Doctor Fate fired another beam at Teekl.

"Holy crap!" Klarion swore and teleported to his familiar. "Where outa here!"

Seeing as the Lord of Chaos was retreating Nokoru phased out of sight and made his escape too.

"Yes!" Danny cheered and looked over to Ex who was frowning. "What's wrong?"

"Nabu may have gotten rid of Klarion and the others but now we have to deal with him."

Oh crap. Danny thought

Of course a demon would be worried about me.

All three of them turned to the sound of the voice to see the helmet. Ex seemed to become pale (even though his skin was bleached white) and Danny could see how nervous he was.

To think a hero would actually make a deal with a being of chaos. Nabu's voice was filled with venom.

Ex flinched from his tone and looked down. This was the first time Danny ever heard the fire demon be so silent and it frightened him.

Nelson frowned as he stepped up to Nabu

"Now Nabu you and I both know not all demons cause chaos. Remember? We have met some demons who avoid causing any chaos at all and try to live peacefully with humans," Nelson remained.

Hmmm. Yes I remember.

"Look Nabu." Danny had decided to speak to the Lord of Order.

He wanted to get out of here quickly with Ex, it was so unnerving to see his demon friend look so nervous and upset by being in the Nabu's presence.

"I'm glad you defeated Klarion and the others but would you mind giving me my body back?"

No, I will not release this body.

Danny looked at the helmet in shock while Ex's head snapped up to reveal his own shocked face.

"You can't do that! This is Danny's body not yours!"

"Actually he can but that doesn't make it right," Nelson voiced out.

This world needs Dr. Fate and I do not appreciate being hidden away from the world, being useless and isolated for years at a time... Nabu sounded depressed and sadden at his words. Before Danny even knew it Ex had spoken up.

"Lord of Order, uh, sir. I know it's hard being alone but you cannot have Danny's body. People still need him," Ex said and added on quickly. "What if you let me and Danny look for a new host for you?"

"Yes, let these two take care of you until a new host and guardian is found for the helmet and until they do I'll stay with you," Nelson said.

"But what about your wife?" Danny asked.

"Don't worry about, I'll stay here for a while and then I will ascend. I've waited this long, I can wait a little while longer," Nelson gave them a smile.

…While I do not like the idea of a demon looking for a host for me, the deal is acceptable. Nabu said and removed the helmet not giving either of the two time to say anything.

"Goodbye you two," Nelson said as Danny and Ex faded from sight.

"Well that was fun," Superboy deadpanned.

The team had finally come back to the cave and now Danny, M'gann and Superboy were talking in front of the Zeta-Tubes. Kaldur went to report to Red Tornado about their mission while Wally went to put the helmet with rest of his souvenirs, Artimes had went to go check on him after saying goodbye to Danny.

Danny gave a dry laugh.

"If you count almost being boiled and having your body possessed by another entity then sure it was fun."

Superboy just rolled his eyes at the Halfa's commit.

"But it was sad about...Mr. Nelson." M'gann's face was downcast.

Danny's smile faded too.

"Yeah, I wish we could have protected him better."

"There was nothing we can do. We have to forgive our mistakes and move on," Superboy said.

Easier said than done. Danny thought, thinking about a different mistake that led to some others death.

M'gann on the other hand, brightened at the clone's words and smiled.

"Your right Superboy, I don't think Mr. Nelson would want us moping around."

Danny smiled but also yawned as he stretched.

"Well it was nice being here with you guys for my first day on the team, but I think it's time I head home and hit the hay." Danny started to head over to the Zeta-Tubes.

"Phantom, wait," Superboy's voice caught Danny's attention.

The Halfa turned around gave Superboy a curious hmm.

Superboy looked nervous but a small nudge forward and a supportive look from M'gann made him talk.

"I just wanted to say...I'm sorry," he blurted out.

Danny blinked in surprise.

"For what?"

"I was kind of rude to you when you came to the cave so I'm sorry for that," Superboy said as he looked away.

"Oh, that. Heh, it's alright Superboy," Danny comforted him. "I understand."

Superboy looked back at him with a small smile curving up the corner of his lip.

"Then...Friends?" He stuck his hand out.

Danny looked at the hand before looking Superboy in the eye with a smile. He grasped his hand and shook it.

"Friends."

Superboy smiled and Danny broke the handshake.

"I'll see you guys later!" Danny waved goodbye and quickly entered the Zeta-Tube.

The two other heroes waved goodbye to him as he was teleported away. After he left M'gann got a curious look on her face.

"Hey Superboy," She started. "Did Danny seem a little...weird, to you?"

Superboy frowned as he thought back. "Besides the fact he's a ghost who actually sleeps?"

She shook her head

"No I mean his emotions or how he acts didn't they seem a little...I don't know, fake?"

"Well... no, not to me at least." He looked at her suspiciously. "You didn't read his mind did you?"

M'gann looked at him in shock and wildly shook her hands in the motion no.

"No! I know not to read people's minds now, it's just I can usually sense emotions and Danny's emotions just seemed so... robotic," she explained. She even looked a little sad. "Even the look in his eyes seemed rather made up."

Superboy frowned.

Was there something Danny wasn't telling them?

I thought we were done for! My whole life flashed before my eyes!

"Ex, it wasn't that bad," Danny said as he started to descend down to the front of the mansion.

Says the guy whose body was being controlled by someone else and got hurt during the process. Ex said.

"Meh, I'll wake up with a few more bruises so what? It's nothing new." He walked up the steps of the mansion and opened the door.

"Baaaarrrrk!"

Danny do you here a-.

"Ahh!" Danny fell over as a large green ghost dog jumped on him and started to lick his face.

"Down boy! Stop puppy!" Dani yelled as she ran up to the large dog.

"Cujo heel!" Danny ordered.

At the sound of Danny's voice the dog stopped covering the ghost boy in slime and shrunk down to a cute little puppy.

Dani sighed in relief and picked up the now small dog.

"Sorry Danny, this little guy is just full of energy, aren't you little guy?" Dani cooed to the dog.

"Raawwf!" The ghost dog licked all over the young girl's face earning giggles from her.

"Why is Cujo here?" Danny asked

"You know this dog?" Dani looked at him curiously.

"Yeah." Danny got up and started to dust himself off and turned back into his human half. "Me and Cujo here have rumbled before but he went back to the ghost zone. You didn't answer my question."

"Well you see while me and Kwan were hanging out we found Cujo casing some terror. Turns out he was hurt so while Kwan was distracted I left and turned into my ghost half and beat Cujo." She pointed out proudly. "But it turns out he was acting out because he had a thorn in his paw."

"Still doesn't explain why he is here."

"Okay he kept escaping from the Ghost Zone and kept coming to me every time, so I thought…"Dani looked up to him with an eager look.

Danny frowned knowing what she wanted. "We can't keep him Dani."

"Awwwww, come on Danny! He's so cute and he could help us on patrols."

Danny just gave an uneasy look. "I don't know...What did Vlad say?"

A long string of curse words was heard by the two Halfas as Vlad came into views. His suit was covered in ectoplasm dog slime and his whole outfit was shredded with his hair stuck up from the goo.

"We are NOT keeping that demon!"

Dani pouted.

"Please, please, please can we keep him? He's so cute and I promise I'll take care of him. I'll even build a doghouse for him by myself if that's what it takes!" Dani pleaded to the older Halfa.

"That creature destroyed my study, ruined most of Danny's clothes and mine-"

THAT DOG DID WHAT?! Ex screamed so loud that Danny winced and covered his ears. Those clothes aren't only Danny's their mine! I was the one who picked them out!

"They're just clothes Ex," Danny said.

This attracted Dani and Vlad's attention.

"What's wrong?" Dani asked.

"Ex is upset my clothes are ruined since he was the one who picked them out." He sighed.

"See Danielle? Even that fire demon doesn't like that dog." Vlad glared at Cujo.

"But we could even use him as a guard dog," Dani persisted.

"Actually she has a point," Danny said.

"What!?" Both Vlad and Ex screamed.

"Think about it," Danny started. "While I'm off doing missions with the team Dani has someone to be with her on patrols and the house while have some extra protection."

Vlad still looked unconvinced.

"Plus when I first meet Cujo he just kept coming back and if he likes Dani then he's going keep coming till he's allowed to stay," Danny pointed out.

Dani gave him a smug grin. "You cannot deny the inevitable! I will have my puppy!"

Vlad gave both them a hard glare for a good five minutes. Seeing as they both weren't going back down and still had their stupid smirks glued to their faces he sighed and let his arms fall to his sides.

"Fine! I give you; can keep the dog."

Dani let out a whoop and snuggled Cujo.

"But the dog has to sleep outside," Vlad added.

"Fine by me but tonight you're sleeping in my room Cujo!" Before Vlad could protest Dani zipped off like the Roadrunner to her room.

Vlad sighed. "I'm gonna hire a cleaning women in the morning. I'm too tired to deal with this."

He started to drag his body back to his room. "Night Daniel."

Danny chuckled at the billionaire as he headed to his room.

… Ex was oddly silent. Not as silent as when the met Nabu but still silent.

"Everything alright Ex?"

...Did I ever tell you how much I hate you? Ex innocently asked the hero.

"I know you mean love~," Danny sang.

Ex just yelled cursed words at him as the Halfa laughed at his angered friend.

Another day completed of being a hero and another step closer in healing.

Hello! Sorry I took so long to update but thank you all for being patient and taking the time to read this. I'll try to update more, since even my family scolds me for leaving all of you hanging. As you can see I got a little lazy with this chapter but I will try to make that up in the next chapter. Anyway please continue to review!
