Booth parked the SUV in the parking lot at the playground and leaned over the seat, giving Bones a kiss.
"What was that for?" Bones smiled at Booth, surprised.
He shrugged and smiled back. "No reason."
Christine, fed up of being strapped into her car seat, started fussing. Her tiny fist hit the seat as she tried to push her way out, only to be held back by the buckles.
Bones laughed and rolled her eyes as she climbed out of her seat and opened up Christine's door. Bones unbuckled the straps and she came sprawling out into her mom's arms. Bones repositioned her so that Christine was resting on Bones's hip with one leg wrapped behind her back.
Booth looked over and raised his eyebrows as in questioning if she was fine with Christine like that, and was answered by a nod. He grabbed the toys and blanket and carried them out to the playscape.
Setting up, they laid out the blanket over the sand and sat down. Since it was a work day, they were the only ones there.
Christine sat for about twenty seconds before getting up saying "I wanna go pway." Both parents look at each other silently arguing which one would go 'pway' with Christine.
Booth stood up and took his daughter's hand before turning to Bones and saying "If you need anything, I mean anything, just yell okay Bones?"
She looked up and gave a nod "I know, I will."
"Who wants to go on the swings?" Booth's attention was diverted fully back to Christine, as they raced to the swings, allowing Christine to win.
Brennan leaned back bearing her full weight onto the palms of her hands and let the sun warm her. She kept an eye on Booth and Christine, laughing as Booth pushed her higher and higher in the baby swing. It really is a nice day today, she thought. The sun warm and heating up the Earth's surface, but not being too hot. The sky mostly blue with some clouds coming in. Sure, it'll most likely rain later in the day, but right now everything just seemed cool and calm.
Bones looked over just as Booth was pointing to her and saying to Christine "Wave at mommy." Bones smiled and waved back. By now, even though only a few minutes had passed, she was tired of sitting out and decided to get up and join them.
Rolling onto her knees, she managed to get up on her own. Making her way towards the two, Booth noticed and came over to help out.
"Hey anything wrong?" He asked overly-concerned.
"No Booth, nothing's the matter." She stopped, bit her lip, and let out a sigh, "You're doing it again."
"What am I doing?"
"You're being too overprotective of me. This happened before when I was pregnant with Christine, you would always force me to wear my slippers, or make sure I had a low-sodium meal. It almost feels like you are always standing over me. It needs to stop, Booth. It needs to stop." Bones lightly hit Booth in the chest with her palm.
Booth took a step backwards "I'm sorry. I was just trying to help out and try to keep you safe."
"That's just the thing though. I don't need protecting. I'm fully capable of keeping myself safe. Okay?"
Booth nodded back, confused by this new outbreak.
Christine started crying from her seat in the baby swing "Momma and Daddy are fighting."
Bones turned towards Christine "No sweetie Mommy and Daddy aren't fighting. We just had different feelings about something and were communicating them." She picked up Christine and held in her arms until she calmed down.
Turning back towards Booth, Bones sheepishly apologized "Look, I'm sorry Booth. I really do like you looking over my shoulder. I'm just merely experiencing hormonal inconsistencies due to pregnancy and I just overreacted."
"Hey don't worry. Let's go sit back down, okay?"
Smoothing out the blanket in front of her with her hands, Bones spoke up "Booth we need to talk about the baby."
Booth turned towards Bones, "Yeah? What's up?"
"Baby names. We need to figure out what the baby will be named."
"It would be easier if we knew if it was a boy or a girl, Bones."
"No Booth, I thought we agreed on letting it be a surprise for when the baby is delivered."
"Yes, yes I know. It would just be easier. How about you come up with a girl's name and a boy's name that you like and I pick one of each that I like and we go from that."
Bones went first "Okay let's see, for a boy," she thought for a moment, "how about Caden? And for a girl, I like the name Emma."
Booth's turn was next "I like the name Madison for a girl. And for a boy I like the name Max after your dad."
"Oh I would like to name him Max after my father, but Christine is named after my mother and that's not fair to you, Booth." Bones stopped for a little and thought, inaudibly whispering names to herself. "ZACK! We should name him Zack if it's a boy!"
Booth smiled one of his 'Boothy grins' at that suggestion. "Yes. If it's a boy, he will absolutely be named Zack."
"Good. What about girls? Both Emma and Madison are cute names but it just doesn't sound right." Bones stated
"What about Sophia?"
"Eh.. maybe Isabelle or Isabella."
"Chloe..."
"Or Lilah."
"How about Reagan?"
"Do you like Taylor?"
Bones looked up at Booth's suggestion of Taylor and smiled. "I've always liked the name Taylor."
"Okay so if it's a boy, we name him Zack, and if it's a girl we name her Taylor, right Bones?" Bones nodded back.
Brennan rested her head on Booth's shoulder and watched Christine play with the toys in front of her. Her brown hair shined in the sunlight and Booth mentally noted her beauty.
Bones turned her head towards Booth, her nose just a few inches away from his nose. She stared into his eyes for a few moments and then smiled. Booth smiled back and they both sat there looking into each other's eyes, mesmerized.
Christine stood up from where she was and squealed "Daddy chase me!"
Booth glanced over at Christine who was bobbing up and down, and then back at Bones.
"Go..." She whispered, barely audibly, "Go."
