Chapter 10:
At Roman's car:
"Tell him Lily. You'll know what will happen if he finds out. You need to tell him to protect him from Paul." Thinking to herself
"Hello Lily." Coming out of the shadows
"Paul, how are you?" Innocently
"I'm good, could be better, but my girlfriend ran away from me." Moving closer
"I'm not your girlfriend anymore. I told you before I left and I also left a note." Defending her statement
"Well, I don't accept it. You are my girlfriend whether you like it or not." Grabbing her arm
"No I'm not. I can't be with someone that told me to do the awful things I did for you. I used to cry myself to sleep with those awful things, but I don't anymore. I had suspicious of you just using me because I am a nurse. When you try to force me into being a slave to you and your friends that is when I had enough." Pulling his hands off
"And you would have made a sexy, perfect one if you didn't run away." Rubbing her cheek
"I told you I had another job offer and had to be transferred out of the state. Wait, how did you know that I'm at this state and hospital?"
"I'll just say that one of your former employees was jealous of you. I took advantage of her in more ways than one." Smirking
"See, that is one of the reasons why I broke up with you. You have always been that way and I didn't wait for you to cheat on me."
"I cheated on you because I didn't know where you were. I love you and you just left me with a note."
"No you don't love me. I don't like the person I was with you. I'll say it again, so it gets through your head, I did a lot of things I regretted. The hospital there was my safe haven from you." About to leave
"You regretted it, but why did you do it over again?" Smirking
"I did it back then because I cared about you. I regret you persuading me to do those actions. I thought you cared about me too, but obviously I was wrong to think that. I should have been stronger and left you sooner back then." Tearing up
"Oh don't cry angel, let me make you feel better." Cupping her cheek
"No. Get away from me." Pushing him away
"You use to love my kisses, we would kiss for hours. The only part I regret is that I didn't go all the way with you." Being so close to her that they were nose to nose
"Never would I let that happen. I want it to be special, but you tried to force me into it." Taking a step back
"And I failed, but I won't fail." Grabbing her arms and kissing her
Lily is trying to move her lips and body, but Paul would keep his grip on her until he is satisfied.
Roman:
After his surgery, he is pondering on why Lily needs to talk to him. As 3pm arrived, he quickly checks on his patients, check the charts if they are finished and grab his valuables. He arrives at the parking lot looking for Lily while preparing for what she is going to say.
"Just calm down, Roman, maybe something happened to her family; just try to keep a positive mind." Talking to himself
When she found her, he is about to walk towards her, but a man shows up.
"Who is that?" Questioning "This can't be, she is cheating on me. She wants to break up with me to be with him." Trying to stay calm
"Maybe he is her friend or brother, you don't know. You can't judge her because you have you own past." Sighing
As he gets closer, he sees Paul touching her.
"He is making her cry and uncomfortable." Getting angry
Roman is briskly making his way to them, but stops suddenly to them kissing. He si hurts as well as taken back by them kissing each other.
"So, she wanted to dump me for him. Okay, I'll beat her to punch, I'll break up with her first." Telling himself
Lily and Paul:
Paul is breaking it off, completely satisfy.
"Well, you still can deliver a perfect kiss. I'll be seeing you because I have official moved here." Winking before leaving
As he is leaving, Lily is splitting and wiping her lips to get rid of the taste.
"Eww, gross, I need to drink half a bottle of Listerine to get rid of the taste." Still spitting
As she is turning around to face the hospital, she almost bumps into Roman.
"Oh Roman, how long have you been there?" Worried
"Long enough. I'm been thinking that we don't know each other that well to start a relationship. I don't think Emma and I are for a new woman in our life." Trying to be strong
"Roman, please don't tell me what you're about to say. We might rush to be a couple, but we can slow down if you need more time to grief about your wife that died. Please don't this; we can get though this situation. I'm willing to wait for you to let another women into your lives; romantic wise. Roman, please don't say that we should be break." Wiping away her tears
Roman trying to be strong, but her willing to wait for him is tugging on his heart. Roman starts breathing in and out knowing he needs to do this.
"Yeah, I can see you're willing to wait with you kissing a man by my car." Angry
Lily shock "You saw that."
"Yeah, I guess my kisses aren't good enough that you had to kiss someone else behind my back. That is what you needed to talk to me about, wasn't it? You needed to tell me that you found better lips than mine. You thought I wouldn't find out, so you can just break up with me for him. Well, you got your wish, but I'm breaking up with you." Huffing
"Roman, you don't understand." Having tears down her cheeks
"Oh I do understand. Oh and don't worry you're still invited to the water park this weekend. I don't want Emma upset because you found a better kisser." Getting in his car
"Roman, you need to let me explain." Talking to him through the window
"No I don't. After the water park, I don't want you near me or Emma. We may be working at the same hospital, but as if right now this is a professional-working-if-necessary partnership. I don't want to talk or see you if I don't have too." Drinking away
"But..." Seeing him driving away
Lily is now fully crushed with her face and scrub top full of tears. She is finding her last bit of energy to get to her car. As she gets inside, she lets it all out almost passing out by dehydration. Somehow, she starts the car after drinking half of a bottle of water before heading home.
Next day:
Chief Rollins' office:
"So let me get this straight, you want to work without breaks, so you can leave early." Clarifying
"Yes sir, I just want to work and not let breaks interfere with that."
"That means you will leave at 2 instead of 3."
"Yes sir I know. I know I'm still new here and I shouldn't be asking this, but it will help my work if I do."
"Okay, you can have it, but if I see any indication that you are lacking the deal is off. I don't want you tired or hungry on the floor, am I understood?" Starting the paperwork
"Yes Chief Rollins. I'll eat a big breakfast and eat when I get home. Thank you for his." Smiling
"You're welcome Lily. Now go, you have patients to check on." Smiling
"Thank you, sir." Walking out
"Wait, before you go, were you planning to leave us anytime soon?"
"No sir, why would you think that?" surprise
"Nothing, I just thought that, that is why you wanted to talk to me about."
"Chief Rollins, you have nothing to worry about. I'm not a quitter when times are tough, I will be loyal to you till the end of my career." Giggling
Seth is chuckling "Good to hear."
As Lily is opening the door to leave, Roman is there waiting to speak to Seth. Lily just is walking pass him without saying a word. Roman is just sighing as he watches her walk away from him.
"Hey Roman, what's up?" Looking at him
"What was Lily in here for?" Questioning
"Really, you came here to ask what your girlfriend is doing in my office." Teasing
"No, I need to talk to about our V.I.P patient, but this is just a right in the moment question. So, what was she doing here?"
"She was here to propose that she work without breaks. She said that breaks are interfering with her work." Looking back at his papers
"You didn't grand it to here, did you?" Consider
"Actually, I did with one condition; if I hear one mention that she is lacking then she is back with breaks."
"Oh okay then, so the V.I.P patient."
"Roman, can you talk to her because our field is a demanding one? I just don't want her burn out because she is not taking breaks." Interrupting
"So, why did you grant it to her?" Confuse
"I thought she was going to quit. The look on her face told me that she didn't like it here and she is quitting. Good thing is that she will be with us until she retires." Seth smiling
Roman is sporting a fake smile to him.
"What have I done? I have to talk to her." Roman thinking
