This fanfiction is lucky that it's currently my favorite one out the bunch, because if it wasn't, I don't think I would stay committed to it. Something so frustrating happened, but I can't tell you what happened before the story, because it would spoil everything! So instead, I'll put it at the end in case you are curious as to what happened.
Anyway, as mad at I am at this chapter, at least I know I'm going to get it done real soon. Enjoy!
Link's POV
Link sighed as he debated whether or not he should enter the forest that stood right next to the mansion. He knew that there were probably going to be strange creatures that he had never seen before in that mysterious forest, but he also knew that there could be great danger lurking in the bushes and trees. Still, it was his only choice, as he had nowhere else to go except back to the mansion itself or Hyrule. But if he went back to Hyrule, he would be banned from returning, as the rules state that any contestant who returns to their homeland without permission is hereby banned from the current brawling season.
But maybe being banned wasn't such a bad idea...
No. Link knew within his heart that he would never miss a brawl challenge for the world. He may not be on the best terms with Zelda at the moment, but no one was going to stop him from doing what he loved. Not even his princess.
So without any further hesitation, Link stepped into the dense forest, praying to the goddesses that no monsters lurked within it.
Zelda's POV
Meanwhile, Zelda stormed out of the mansion with nothing but a simple dress on for warmth. It was the middle of December, but Zelda didn't care. She would rather freeze to death searching for Link than to stay inside the warm mansion full of nothing but worry for her hero.
She was scared that something bad would happen to him, much like the time in which he was almost seduced by that restaurant waitress. Zelda couldn't imagine what it would feel like to live with that nightmare for the rest of your life. No one deserved to have to live like that, especially Link. He was too pure and innocent for that matter!
As Zelda walked outside, she spotted a certain green-clad warrior as he walked into the forest. She didn't want to call attention to him, because she didn't want to chase him for a long time, so instead she just sneakily decided to follow him without being seen.
Link's POV
As Link put his hands in the pocket of his green coat, he shivered a little at the freezing weather. It was going to be a rough night sleeping out in the wilderness, but he would rather freeze to death than face her.
And so, Link quickened his pace against the harsh winds. It took a while, but eventually, he found himself a nice little clearing in the center of the woods. He made a little bed for himself out of leaves and dirt, but just before he could lay down to take a nap, he heard a leaf crunch behind him.
In one swift movement, Link whirled around and raised his sword, ready to attack whatever was following him.
But when he was who was following him, Link immediately stopped his attack and swiftly put his sword back in its sheath.
"What are you doing here?" Link demanded, crossing his arms in the process. But when he got a good look at his princess, Link realized that she was freezing. And no matter how mad at her he was at the moment, Link was still the guardian and protector of her. There was no way he was going to let his princess freeze to death.
He shrugged the large coat off of his shoulders and helped Zelda slip it on. After he zipped it up, he nearly giggled at how large it was on her, but stopped himself once he realized just who he was giving it to. Wagging an angry finger at her, Link scolded her for her stupidity. "You know better than to venture outside in the freezing cold wearing nothing but that. What were you thinking?"
Zelda beamed at him as she rubbed her freezing hands together in an attempt to stay warm. "Oh Link, I'm so glad you still care about me! I was worried that you would be really mad at me for all I've done. But anyway, I've come here to apologize to you for everything that I've put you through. Would you please forgive me?"
Link glared at her and took a step back to avoid being near her. "Listen Zelda, I know exactly what you're trying to do, and I refuse to fall for it! Do you have any idea what you've done to me?"
Zelda looked at Link with a confused expression on her face, tilting her head slightly in the process. "Link listen, I know you may be extremely heartbroken right now, but I need you to hear me out! Marth told you that-
"I know what Marth said, Zelda. He told me the truth about how you really feel about me. And now I know the reason why you would never admit to me that you loved me. Because you don't, and you never will." Link interrupted her with an icy tone.
"It isn't nice to interrupt people when they're trying to talk, Link." Zelda said. "Anyway, as I was saying, Marth was completely l-
"Do you think that I care about being rude to you after all that you've put me through? You must be pretty darn stupid to think I would treat you like my equal after all that has happened." Link angrily retorted.
"I'm trying to tell you that what Marth said was a lie, but you keep interrupting me!" Zelda exclaimed with a hint of anger in her voice.
"Oh, so now I'm supposed to believe that Marth is a liar? I didn't know you could be so mean Zelda, that's just low, even for you."
"Link what in the world are you talking about? I don't like this tone of yours!" Zelda exclaimed.
"I don't care about what you like or don't like, princess. And I'm talking about the fact that you're just blaming him because you're still mad at him for cheating on you! And while that wasn't a nice thing to do, at least Marth doesn't try to blame his errors on you!"
"Are you saying that you think I'm lying? Why would I lie to you, Link?! I've know you for years, and not once have I ever lied to you! I can't believe you think so lowly of me!" Zelda scoffed, folding her arms across her chest and pursuing her lips in frustration.
"I don't know princess, maybe you should answer that question yourself! After all, why not just play with my heart for the fun of it? I thought you wee different then other girls, I thought you were amazing and beautiful and wonderful in every aspect, but you're just like the rest of them, including Ilia and Malon! You just play with my heart and give me false hopes before ripping it to shreds! But you know what? I'm done being your lapdog, always running back to you loyally, even though you've kicked me to the curb more than enough! From now on, consider us and our friendship through!"
Zelda wiped the single tear that slid down her cheek and pointed at Link accusingly. "I can't believe you would say such a thing Link, especially after all we've been through! Why won't you believe me? And why would you believe Marth? He's done nothing but horrible things to you since you both first got here, but I've done aboslutely nothing to you! Marth lied to you, I do have feelings for you! I do love you Link, but it's taken me forever to realize it! But now that I have, I understand your pain, and I'm so so sorry that I've taken this long to figure it out." Zelda apologized as she stepped forward to wrap her arms around his waist and give him a big hug.
Link noticed what she was doing, so he drew back and looked at her full of disgust and hatred. "Wow Zelda, you're being so cruel right now, just like all of the past times. But I mean, what am I thinking? That's not very shocking at all, considering you've done it before. All this time, I did think you loved me. But now I know I was wrong. You don't truly love me, the only thing you love that involves me is you love to mess with my heart and give me false hopes of something that will never happen. You know something? Marth was right, you're just a spoiled two-timing princess that cares about no one and nothing but herself. And I'm sorry, but I can't be part of your life anymore. I used to think you were better then that, but I guess I was wrong."
"Ok, that's where I draw the line, Link!" Zelda snapped, finally losing her temper. "You can blame me for something I haven't done and accuse me of lying, but no one calls me a two-timing princess that cares about no one but herself!
Zelda looked away, trying to hide the tears that were threatening to spill from her face. "I can't believe you would stick to such insults, you're obviously still very immature! You need to grow up Link and realize that not everything is about you! I do care about you, but sometimes you drive me crazy, and I can't take the insults anymore! You've done nothing but accuse me of things that I haven't done, and I refuse to stand here and listen to you go on and on about how horrible and hideous I am!"
"But what I've said is right! You're a hideous monster from the inside and out Zelda, you don't deserve my sympathy! You're so ugly it's killing me! I want to believe you, but after all that you did to me, I refuse to even look at you. You've become something that I can't associate with, and I refuse to listen to your constant lies any longer! Just stay out of my life you ugly monster!"
"I see then, well if that's really how you feel about me, what's the point of trying to convince you otherwise?" Zelda asked, her voice slightly quivering. "You're absolutely right Link, I am a hideous monster! I mean, just look at me! I'm sorry for troubling you, I'll stay out of your way now, I hope you enjoy the rest of your dad without me!"
And without another word, Zelda spun around and ran back to the castle with hot tears streaming down her face.
When she ran down the hall, Samus asked her if she was ok, but Zelda if ired Her and ran straight to her dorm. She couldn't believe that Link thought she was a monster. She had always believed that she was a beautiful girl. But now, she wasn't so sure. As she opened the door, Zelda started to believe that she was really that horrible, and her confidence dropped down a good but then. She crashed her head into her pillow and sobbed her heart out until there were no more tears left.
Ok so now the real truth comes out! So I was just innocently writing an AMAZING heated argument scene between Link and Zelda where they get really mad at each other, and somehow I accidentally pushed some button and the page reloaded before I could save it and IT WIPED OUT EVERYTHING! I was SO frustrated I slammed the laptop closed, not caring how old it was. I worked so hard on that argument, and the way I wrote it before was intense and amazing! But then I had to write it ALL OVER AGAIN and as angry as I was, I was also frustrated that I didn't think to save it sooner. So always save your work as much as possible, it could save your life! Sadly, it didn't save mine. I'm still angry about it.
