Chapter 10: Feelings Admitted
Even though Kate was knocked out by the branch, she was out of it, but she still felt things around her. She felt the rain and the wind…but she also felt someone carry her. And at the end of it, where she really fell asleep, she felt someone press their body against hers and put their paw around her neck.
The Next Morning
Kate eyes flickered open to the sun's morning rays that were making its way into the den. She let out a yawn and looked around the den and saw that she was the only one in the den. But there was the scent of another wolf right next to her. She sniffed the spot and recognized it as Humphrey's. 'He must be here' She thought excitedly. She quickly got up and went outside to be greeted the sun.
She looked around and didn't see Humphrey. She started to walk around and she came across the same place where they met Marcel and Paddy. "Never thought we'd be here so soon again, eh Paddy." Marcel said as he was getting ready for another shot. "Yes sir, it was here where we met Kate and Humphrey." Paddy said. "Yes yes, but it's also that place where that birdie ruined my birdie." Marcel said as he looked around and made sure that woodpecker wasn't there.
"Ah yes well to bring it up it might have gone in." Paddy said. "It would have." Marcel said. "I say might." Paddy said again. Clearly this was heating up into one of their 'game' arguments. "Would." Marcel said, coming up to Paddy. "Might" Paddy said, not backing down. Kate just rolled her eyes and made her way to them before things got out of hand.
"I said would." Marcel said, getting a bit aggravated. "Alright guys calm down." Kate said as she came up to them. "Ah Ms. Kate how are you feeling after the knock on the head?" Paddy asked coming up to her and checking her head. "I'm feeling much better guys, honestly." Kate said. "Are you sure Kate, because Humphrey told us to make sure that you were alright?" Marcel said as he also came up to her and inspected her for any injuries.
"I 'm fine guys, really I am." Kate said as she backed out of their inspection. "As you say." Marcel said as he and Paddy stopped. "So where is Humphrey?" she asked. "We don't know actually." Paddy said. "I think he said he's going down to a stream over there." Paddy said, pointing his wing to a stream in the distance. "Thanks guys" Kate said and took off towards the stream. "I would really like to see this." Marcel said to Paddy. "I don't think it would be right sir." Paddy said. Marcel looked at Paddy with a raised eyebrow. "Then again, it could be nice to see them finally admit it." Paddy said, and the both of them took off towards the stream.
Humphrey was by the stream taking a drink. He had just had a nice long bath after a while and was resting by the side of the stream. But also at the same time, he was thinking on how to admit his feelings for Kate. But also at the same time, he was thinking on recent events. Like how he had managed to counter the force when he jumped off the train, and when he took down that caribou. An Omega would never be able to do that.
"What clicked in my mind?" He asked aloud. Every time that happened, his present mind would always blank out and it seemed that some other side took over him. But the weird thing was that that 'extra personality' came whenever he really needed it. What Humphrey didn't know was that he had those skills all this time, and that he could control them. The only reason they never came up until just a few days ago remained a mystery.
He then diverted his thoughts back to how to tell Kate his feelings. Ever since he heard from Marcel and Paddy that she didn't marry Barf, his hopes went up ten fold, and if Lilly had married Garth, then his chances with her would be even greater. 'Alright let me think…Kate I've always wanted to tell you that I've had the biggest cru…no no, that's not right. Wait how about this…Kate, ever since we met there was something I've always felt about…Oh NO!' Humphrey screamed in his head. "Why is this harder in real life?" He asked aloud. "What's harder in real life?" A voice he knew all too well said from behind him.
He turned around and saw Kate walking up to him, with that warm-hearting smile of hers. It always made his insides melt, ever since they were pups. "O-Oh, h-hey K-Kate." he stuttered nervously. "H-How was y-your sleep?" he asked, trying to create small talk. "It was one of the best sleeps I have ever had." Kate said as she stared at him. This made Humphrey's eyes widen when she said it was one of her best sleeps, and she slept with him.
"That's really great." Humphrey said. "What were you doing out here Humphrey?" Kate asked as she sat next to him. "Oh…I just had a quick bath…and I was thinking about…stuff." He said. "What kind of stuff?" Kate asked as she moved closer. "Oh-uh…" Humphrey started thinking and looking around for something to bring up…but he didn't find anything.
There was also something in his mind telling him to tell Kate about the skills he seemed to suddenly get, but he pushed it aside and let something else take its place. "Kate…there's something I've been wanting to tell you." Humphrey said as he stared her in the eyes. "Yes Humphrey?" Kate asked. Humphrey then gently pushed Kate onto her back. This caught her by surprise and let out a small yelp. "Humphrey, what are you…" she stopped as she saw that he was standing over her, staring into her eyes.
"The moment I ever first laid eyes on you, I felt something special. You are the most beautiful, strong, kind, loving, gentle, fun, hot, sexy alpha wolf I have ever met." Humphrey said putting emphasis on 'hot' and 'sexy'. Kate blushed and giggled at his comment and was waiting for him to continue. "I have always had the biggest crush on you and it just kept growing since we were pups" he said. "Those three months where you left for alpha school were hell for me. I was so depressed that you had left. I dreamt of you every night and I couldn't wait for you to come on the first day of spring." Humphrey said.
Humphrey was going all out on his feelings here, and Kate couldn't believe she meant that much to him. "That trip from Idaho even made my love for you stronger…and well, what I wanted to say is that I…I love you." Humphrey finally spitted out. Kate had been waiting to hear those words ever since she felt the same way about Humphrey. It was time to tell her side.
"Humphrey, that trip from Idaho also gave me the chance to know the real you. You never really cared about what I said about you when we were at the truck stop, and I'm sorry about that." Kate said. "Kate you don't need to say you're sorry." Humphrey said. "No I do…and that you saved me twice when we were on that trip and when I heard your howl…it sounded so masculine, and it was just beautiful and I thought that we should be together." Kate said. "What I'm trying to say is…I love you too." Kate said as she put her paws around his neck.
Humphrey couldn't believe what he heard. The girl of his dreams said she loved him. She was completely out of his league, and yet she had feelings for him and he felt like the luckiest Omega alive. Humphrey didn't see anything but leaned in and connected their muzzles in a kiss. Her lips were so soft to the touch. The both of them closed their eyes as soon as their lips connected. Kate pushed her tongue into Humphrey's mouth and both of their tongues swirled around each other.
Humphrey rolled over so that Kate would be lying on his stomach and chest. Kate rested her body on Humphrey's and now her paws rested on both his shoulders. Humphrey also put his paws around her waist and kept her close to him without breaking the kiss. They would have continued but luckily there were two birds there. "Mhmm." They heard someone say. Humphrey Kate finally broke the kiss and looked to see Marcel and Paddy there, with smiles on their faces.
"Well, well, well…what do we have here?" Marcel asked with a smirk. "It appears this time we have caught them at a good time sir." Paddy said as he was covering his beak laughing. "Yes Paddy, we have." Marcel replied, also chuckling. Kate and Humphrey were both blushing madly, not believing that there being watched this whole time. "Well it's nice to see you two finally admitted to each other." Paddy said as he regained his posture.
"Well it took us some time, but we finally did." Kate said as she got off Humphrey. "And the best decision I made." Humphrey said as he sat next to his new mate, Kate smiling at him, nodding her head in agreement. "So I guess this means you'll two will begin 'repopulating' soon?" Paddy asked. "You can count on that." Humphrey said with a smile, but received a small nudge in the ribs from Kate as she just smiled at him and shook her head.
"Well do you two want to head back to Jasper?" Marcel asked. "What do you want to do Kate? Do you want to go back home now, or do you want to stay here?" Humphrey asked. "Maybe we can stay here for an extra day, and leave tomorrow." Kate said. "That sounds great." Humphrey said. "What about you guys?" Humphrey asked Marcel and Paddy.
"It's alright with us, besides, you two lovebirds need us to make sure nothing gets out of hand." Marcel said with a raised eyebrow. Again, Humphrey and Kate blushed at this. "We'll see you two on the course." Marcel said as he flew back to their game of golf. "Well, we'll meet back at the den in the evening." Paddy said as he followed Marcel, leaving Kate and Humphrey alone.
"I'm really sorry for leaving Kate…I wasn't think…" Humphrey was cut off. "You're the one who shouldn't be apologizing, I am. I should have told you my feelings when I should have and because of me you left…Humphrey I'm sorry." Kate said. She then walked up to him. "I'm really glad I found you." Kate said as she pressed against Humphrey's pelt and put her head underneath his chin. "And I'm glad you found me." Humphrey said as he wrapped his paws around her.
