Ten: Striking Back
The next morning, Robbie, Gideon, and Pacifica's peaceful breakfast was interrupted when two NGF soldiers burst in.
Gideon suddenly stood up and glared at the soldiers. "Next time, knock you imbeciles!" he snapped.
"But we have urgent news!" breathed one of the soldiers. "Dipper took over the Tent of Telepathy."
"What?" bellowed Gideon. "He did that?"
The other soldier nodded. "Unfortunately, it gets worse. Everyone in the Tent pledged their allegiance to him."
Gideon glared. "And you just let that happen?"
The two soldiers glanced at each other sheepishly. "Well, we'd been guarding the entrance when tranq darts were fired at us. When we woke up, we peeked inside and learned that all of the army members had switched over to the resistance."
Gideon pointed to the door. "You two are pathetic!" he said. "Get out of here and report to the front desk for reassignment."
The two soldiers hung their heads in shame and left the dining room.
Gideon turned on Pacifica. "This is all your fault!" he snapped. "If you hadn't insisted on using the Tent of Telepathy, my home, as one of the army bases, then none of this would have happened!"
Pacifica calmly stood up. "That may be so," she said. "But while you were berating the soldiers, I came up with a simple solution."
"Let me hear it," said Gideon.
"Surprise attack," said Pacifica. "Besides, I've discovered a new ability that I just can't wait to show Dipper."
Later that night around 8:45 pm, Dipper sat down and tried to relax in one of the audience chairs in the Tent of Telepathy.
This whole day, Dipper had been busy with trying to evenly distribute resistance members between Gravity Falls High School and the Tent of Telepathy. He also had to make sure that someone trusted was running each location.
In the end, it was decided that Mabel, Candy, and Grenda would be in charge of the high school while Dipper and Mason made sure things ran smoothly at the Tent of Telepathy.
As a minute passed by, Dipper began to feel comfortable, but this was short lived when Mason and a short, skinny kid approached him.
Dipper stood up and sighed. "What do you want?"
"I wanted to introduce you to my new personal assistant, Cloximillen," said Mason.
"Cloxi-what now?" asked Dipper.
"Cloximillen," repeated the boy quietly. "But people call me Clox for short."
"He's actually a really great kid," said Mason. "I met him this morning when I saw him shape shifting. Did you know he can turn into a Zoura?"
"I have no idea what that is," said Dipper. "But what makes him qualified to be your assistant?"
"He's willing to be the resistance's personal spy," replied Mason.
"I can slip into City Hall unnoticed and find out what evil things Pacifica, Gideon, and Robbie plan to do," said Clox.
Dipper nodded. "That'll be useful, but let's not do that just yet."
Suddenly, one of the resistance members ran up to Dipper. "Pacifica was spotted in the parking lot walking towards us!"
"What?" said Mason. "Is she armed?"
"Does she have any army members with her?" asked Dipper.
"No and no," replied the resistance member as she shook her head. "She's just strolling casually towards the front entrance."
"I'll go out there and see what she wants," said Dipper. "While I do that, Mason and Clox, I need you two to arm the rest of the resistance members and gather everyone by the entrance. If you hear me shout the emergency code word we discussed earlier, have everyone run out and fire their guns at any NGF army member, including Pacifica, Gideon, and Robbie."
"I'm on it!" said Mason.
Clox did a small salute, then turned and followed Mason to go help him rally the troops.
Dipper walked outside to the dimly lit parking lot. Pacifica stood twenty feet from the entrance.
Dipper walked towards her until the two of the stood ten feet apart. "Why are you here?" he asked.
"As you may already know, you and the rest of the resistance committed a crime when you took over the Tent of Telepathy," said Pacifica. "But I'm giving you one final chance to call off your resistance and surrender peacefully. Then, you're gonna admit to the rest of the town that you were wrong and I'm the right ruler for New Gravity Falls."
Dipper sighed. "Your charm speak still doesn't work on me."
Pacifica shrugged. "It was worth a shot. But I can do something a lot worse than that. BACK!" A pink wall of energy in the form of a sound wave left her mouth and expanded the farther it traveled.
The sound wave slammed into Dipper and he flew backward teen feet and landed on his back. "What the—" he sputtered.
"Ha!" taunted Pacifica. "Not so invincible now, are ya?"
Dipper quickly got to his feet. "But everything is not what it seems. Especially in a town like Gravity Falls." He fired two white balls of energy at Pacifica.
"Yikes!" Pacifica avoided one of the balls of energy, but the other slammed into her chest and sent her flying backward fifteen feet.
"Oh, you've done it now," snarled Pacifica. "AWAKEN!"
For a second, Dipper feared that another sound wave was gonna blast him back into the Tent of Telepathy, but Gideon, Robbie, and 70 army members emerged from the forest behind Pacifica and ran towards the parking lot.
Pacifica stood up and smiled smugly. "Didn't see that coming did you?"
"Actually, I kinda did," said Dipper. "SMILE DIP!"
The resistance burst out of the Tent of Telepathy and began to fire their tranquilizer guns.
Ten NGF members were hit by a dart in the first five seconds and fell to the ground.
Pacifica paled. "Shoot, I forgot you guys had those."
Dipper laughed. "Oh yeah, I almost forgot to thank you for having such a nice house to raid."
Suddenly, a black ball of energy slammed into Dipper, causing him to fall on his side and slide ten feet across the parking lot.
"What in the world?" Dipper looked in the direction that the attack had come and he saw Gideon running towards him.
"Surprise!" Gideon hurled a black ball of energy at Dipper, who rolled out of the way.
Wow, Mabel and I really need to update that list of people with powers, thought Dipper. He got up, held out both of his hands, and fired a continuous beam of white energy at Gideon, who countered with the same attack using black energy.
The two beams of energy collided in the middle.
"Taking over the Tent of Telepathy was the worst mistake you could have ever made," grunted Gideon as he tried to win the duel. "Now you and your pathetic little resistance are about to get overrun by my army."
"I wouldn't be too sure about that," said Dipper.
Gideon looked around for a brief moment and saw that more than half of his army, including Robbie, had been hit by a tranquilizer dart and were lying on the ground.
"Well, we can still bea—" Gideon was cut off when a tranq dart in his shoulder, causing his eyes to roll to the back of his head and his black beam of energy to disappear.
Dipper's white beam of energy hit Gideon in the face and the child psychic was sent flying back twenty feet.
Dipper stopped his continuous beam of energy and looked at Pacifica, who was still standing. "So much for taking back the Tent of Telepathy," he taunted.
Pacifica glanced nervously at the fallen NGF army members, then at the ones who were still standing. It was pretty obvious that in a matter of minutes, the NGF army would be overrun.
Pacifica took a deep breath. "Everybody stop fighting! And nobody move!"
All NGF soldiers and resistance members froze in place.
Crud, thought Dipper. I can't believe I forgot to distribute the earplugs
Pacifica turned to Dipper. "HIYA!" she yelled.
A pink sound wave blasted Dipper back into the Tent of Telepathy. He flew across the main room and landed harshly on the stage.
It took Dipper a couple of minutes to regain his bearings, but upon doing so, he ran back outside to see Pacifica, as well as the able bodied NGF army members and the limp bodies of Gideon and Robbie, gone.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter. By the way, I know some of you may be wondering who the "air bender" is. Well, I am pleased to say that that will be revealed in the next chapter.
