Chapter Ten
Broken (part one)
Storybrooke
Mary-Margaret, David, and the dwarves sat in Granny's diner, figuring out a plan to get Hook back. So far, no plans were being made, and it was killing both Mary-Margaret and David. They wished they could do something, but they felt so useless against the woman holding Hook under her spell.
"Maybe I can help."
They looked up to find Regina standing in the doorway. She was taking off her gloves, one finger at a time, and placing both gloves in her pocket. She walked up to the table. "I have an idea, if anyone wants to hear it."

New York Airport
I walked slowly behind Neal and Henry.
Gold beside me, sulking and arms crossed. "Can't we get back to Storybrooke some other way?" He grumbled.
"This is much faster, Gold, and you were fine last time…don't worry." I said. "We didn't come all this way, just for you to lose your memory."
He gave a weak smile, the only time I've ever seen Gold smile. They went through the metal detectors, and I was right, Gold went out fine. Then, before we knew it we were on a plane.

"Absolutely not!" Grumpy cried.
"Wait, Regina has proven herself on several occasions, her idea deserves to be heard." Mary Margaret, strangely, defended.
"Thank you," Regina said, with an evil smile. "We wait until the girl is asleep, then I will cast a spell that will make her go into a heavier sleep, and by the time she wakes, we would be long gone with Hook."
"C'mon, tell me you guys aren't believing her crap!? I mean, she's the reason why we're here in the first place!" Grumpy muttered.
"Actually, Grumpy," David said. "She might be our best shot." Before David looked towards Regina. "Okay, let's do it." He said.

I led the group to my car.
"You still have it?" Neal asked, with a big smile.
"Well, it was still useful, and I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it." I said, opening the door, Henry climbed into the back. So did Neal. Gold got into the passenger side, and I got into the driver's side.
"You know this car?" Henry asked, once we were back on the road.
"Because this was the car your mother and I met." Neal said, with a smile.

I stood in the alleyway, looking both ways before pushing the grey hoodie over my head and making my way to the abandoned old yellow punch buggy sitting opposite of me.
I looked both ways, making sure no one was following me, before I crossed the street, and broke into the car.
I took a seat, and kickstarted the wires to get the car to start.
I began to drive the car, and nearly jumped out of my seat, when a person jumped from the back.

"Ready?" Regina asked, into the walkie talkie David had given everyone.
"As ready as we'll ever be." David said, through the talkie. He sighed, smiling. He was going to give his daughter her husband back, and he couldn't wait for the look on Emma's face when she returned from New York.
"NOW!" Regina cried, and everything happened so fast.
Hook was now trapped in the only place he knew was safe, the jail cell.

Somewhere —on the road
I occasionally stole a glance back now and again to look at the two sitting in the back, asleep. How much I longed for sleep, and as if on cue, I longed to sleep. In a soft, cozy bed.
"Do you need some rest?" Gold asked.
I glanced over at him. "Oh, so now you care?" I asked. "What? Did I have to faint in order to get your attention?"
Gold sighed. "Do you need me to drive, Miss. Swan or not?" He asked again. Silently, I pulled the car over and got out. Gold went to the head of the car, but stopped. I went towards him.
"Gold, you okay?" I asked.
"I failed." He said, with small tears in his eyes.
"I am a failure…maybe everyone was right…maybe I do screw up everything I love. If….I fought in that stupid ogre war, Milah would still be alive, and I'd still have Bae…we would be happy." He cried. "I'm such a big coward!"
I sighed, knowing that I was going to hate myself in the morning for what I was about to say.
"Gold, you're not a coward."
"Swan, you don't know—"
"Oh but I do…Gold, do you know what happens when Storybrooke residents leave Storybrooke? They lose their memories…but you were brave enough to risk your life. You may have personal life issues, but that does not mean you're a co…"
A sudden pain surged through my stomach, and I clutched the sides of my body.
"Go—Gold.." I cried.
"Emma…Emma, what' s wrong?" Gold asked.
"Mom?" Henry asked.
The pain was horrible, and I just wished it was over.

Soon Hook was awake.
"Where..where are am I? What have you done to my Milah?"
"So that's her name?" Mary Margaret asked.
Hook glared at her, through narrowed eyes.
"What's wrong with him?" David asked Regina.
"He's under a spell, he is in love with the Milah girl." She explained.
"Can it be fixed?" Grumpy asked.
"As long as the love is fake." She said.
"What?" David asked.
Regina sighed. "If Milah is not Hook's true love, the spell she inflicted on him will be practically useless…if, however, Milah is…I'm sorry." She said, with a frown.
Mary Margaret sighed, uneasily, before stealing a glance at her husband, who motioned for Regina to continue.

"Who the hell are you? And what are you doing in my car!?"
"Your car!?" the man bellowed. "Lady, this car is mine, I was in here first!"
"Well, then, why weren't you in the front, like a normal person?" I asked, looking around, making sure I wasn't followed.
"Why were you napping?"
"Because I wanted to sleep." He answered.
I looked at him, as he climbed into the passenger seat. "Name's Neal Cassidy," He said.
"Emma…Swan."

Somewhere on the road
"What's going on?"
"Nothing, Henry…go back into the car." I demanded.
"Emma, are you alright?" Neal asked. "Go back in the car, Henry, your mother's going to be fine."
Neal then came towards me.
I fell to my knees, and closed my eyes waiting for the pain to pass.
"I'm going to call for help." Neal said.
Gold only nodded, not knowing what to do.
"No, Neal, no…don't!" I cried.
"Emma, you need help." He said.
"No, I don't. I know exactly what's going on." I said.
"What?" Gold asked.
"I'm having a miscarriage…had one three years ago, after I tried to start dating again…but the date epically failed and resulted in me becoming pregnant…I lost the baby after one month…this one…three…"
I squinted my eyes, closed. "I'm fine…I'll be fine," I tried to assure.
"How far along are we until we reach our destination?" Neal asked.
"Not much farther, why?"
"Because when we get there, we're going straight for the hospital." Neal said, before helping me up, and helping me in the back of the car with Henry.
I closed my eyes, letting some tears falling down my cheeks.
"You alright, Mom?"
"Yes, I'm alright." I lied, trying to keep everyone in a good mood.
