Chapter10 (rough copy)
The girl slept softly in her bed roll staying warm next to the camp fire the cave lit by a warm orange glow. Until she awoke from her slumber hearing an earth shattering roar from outside, Sitting up and she listened for a moment. The winds howled madly through the mountain peaks; then she felt the cave shake and heard a thundering crash outside that shock the cave. With haste she picked up her sword and grabbed her cloak and quickly covering herself. The sword was still in the sheath on her belt lying next to her bed roll. Wasting no time she drew the blade and tosses the belt aside. Walking past the pelt curtain she stopped at the big rock; using her magic gauntlet a seal on the rock appeared. She outstretched her hand and the rock move opening the way for her to exit to the mountain. The wind blew harshly making her cringe from its icy bite, placing her goggles over her eyes and the steel plate headband on her forehead; she then tucked her hair braids out of the way. With her hood up she headed out in to the blizzard.
The night was dark; snow blew everywhere making it difficult to see anything and the wind pushed her around like a hand of a giant, but she would endure and kept moving. She then heard a roar so loud she was forced to cover her ears, "I know that sound; it's a dragon!" She stated to herself. Running in the direction of the roar she was met with a blinding white light. When the flash disappeared she noticed a new crater near the one she crashed in earlier. She walked over to it and looked into the crater and noticed a person wearing the same cloak laying down there. Sliding down the snowy sides of the crater she rushed to their side. Once reaching them she rolled them over saw them wearing the same goggles and head band with a cloth mask covering their mouth seeing their gear, it had suffered much damage. The figure looked up seeing the girl reached out placing a hand on their shoulder.
The girl helped them sit up and then hugged them instantly, "It's about time you got back, Morgan." She cried trying not to get tears in her goggles.
Morgan sat there in the snow storm and then hugged them back, "I'm back did you miss your sister that much Nah." Morgan laughed happily.
The girl sighed, "I still wonder why I got the weird name; your lucky father named you." Nah replied.
Morgan laughed, but quickly stopped and started and groaned in pain. Nah still hugging Morgan felt something wet on her body. She pulled away and felt her robe; there was blood on it. Looking at Morgan she noticed armor damaged vest was and covered in blood. "Morgan your injured." She stated with alarm.
Morgan look at here armor, "I'm fine nothing to worry about…" before she could finish here speaking she fell to one knee. Breathing heavy she put an outstretched hand keeping Nah at a distance. As she got up she felt weak the world was spinning and vision a bit blurry.
Nah knew Morgan better than anyone else and she could tell she was hiding the seriousness of her injuries. "Come on Morgan let's get inside." She said guiding Morgan up the side of the snow crater.
The wind howled, Morgan and Nah started making their way to the cave entrance Morgan limping she was slow. Nah rolled her eyes and without saying a word she placed Morgan's arm around her and assisted Morgan it's bit awaked moment snice Morgan was taller then her.
Morgan covered her wound and tried to pull away but she was too weak, "Nah I'm fine I can handle myself." She insisted try to move on her own but tripping over her self.
Nah sighed, "Come on Morgan, You can't fool your big sister your hurt and it's pretty bad too." Aiding her out of the crater they limbed towards the entrances of the cave when Nah suddenly stopped.
Morgan looked up, "what's the holdup" she asked? She could see Nah was shaken holding her sword pointing in to the blizzard. On closer inspection she noticed multiple sets of glowing eyes. The shadows wear the size of bears.
Nah gulped before speaking, "Hey Morgan you remember what the folklore was about these mountains," She asked to her?
Morgan stood up pushing off Nah's shoulder, "Gurizurīookami, The grizzly wolf, they say only the greatest Brave or foolish warriors go deep into the Mountains and hunt these vicious monsters few have lived to tell the tale." She replied clutching her green stone tightly.
Nah felt nervous a chill different the cold weather went down here spine, "I think we just found a pack of them." She said readying herself for combat.
Morgan had no real weapon her sword was broke and most of her tomes were gone. She looked around analyzing the environment and took a step towards Nah, "I see five of them two up front, and more two flanking from behind, and the large one on top of the rocks above us most likely the pack leader." Morgan said covering Nah's back.
"Five is a bit small for a pack are you sure there's not anymore." Nah asked checking her surroundings?
"I'm sure, long ago most of them were hunted to near extinction by an Army of men using bows and spears to drive them back they hunt in small packs like this, and they are quite powerful." Morgan responded.
Nah was worked up she was shaking but stood frim, "we don't have spears, bows, or an army just the two of us and our swords and your tomes."
"I don't have them, I kind of lost both of them over a side of a cliff" Morgan Told her embarrassed.
Nah grew frustrated with Morgan mistakes; she reached into her pocket and pulled out some papers that she pushed into Morgan's chest. Morgan gathered the papers and looked at them.
Nah readying herself for battle she claimed her nerves and was ready to figh , "those are pages from a fire tome kind of the best I can give you right now."
"It's hard to use the page alone, but I can manage" Morgan stated struggling to take a battle stance.
The beast on the mountain let out a howl, Nah was afraid and struggled to not show it. "Morgan here they come!" she shouted tightening her grip on her sword.
The beast in front bolted at them snarling the snow and ice did not slow it down. Bloodlust in its eyes it lunged at Nah, She quick dodge to the left side and swung her blade. The blade barely did a thing as it bounced off the beasts pelt. "Morgan there pelts are too thick to cut!" Nah cried out.
The beast targeted Morgan running at her with full speed. Morgan holding the papers in her right hand and she channeled the energy forcing her left hand out and magic seal formed and a raging fireball shot out hitting the beast right in the face blinding it. Morgan rolled out of the way of the blind beast as it dashed passed her. Now on one knee she pointed her hand at it again and fired three more fireballs hitting the side of the beast. "Nah strike the side of this one now I burned its part of its fury away!" Morgan order.
Nah stood up and rushed at the beast, but she saw the second Grizzly Wolf leaping at here and she froze from fear standing there looking at it in horror. It's Jaw wide open Nah could see its sharp teeth ready to turn her into a snack. Morgan yelled out in terror, "Nah lookout!" The beasts grab Nah with its mouth and tossed her into the rocks. Nah dazed laying on the snow coved ground saw the beast standing over her readying to finish off its prey. Nah could feel its breath she was in scared and just closed her eyes and screamed.
"Let her be you stupid mutt!" Morgan raged cast in a two Fire balls at the beast's face.
Nah suddenly felt warm feeling near her face show look out seeing scorch marks on the monster burning part of its fury away from its neck.
Morgan hollered "Nah do it now!"
Nah snapped back to her senses and grabbed her sword lying next to her. With a great swiftness and force she drove the blade into the beast's neck. It howled and cried out before falling to the ground lifeless right on top of Nah's legs pinning her there. A second beast closed in on the trapped Nah well it snarled.
"I said leave her alone!" Morgan yelled out once more charging another fireball. She aligned her shot and prepares to cast it. "Take this Ha!" She screamed out as the ball of fire grew then fizzled out in her hand. Panicking she saw the last page turned to dust and was blown away. "No way not now" She wept shocked.
The beasts enclosed on them Morgan saw the two on her flanks and the one closing in on Nah. Nah grew desperate wiggling and kicking attempting to free herself as the beast got closer she could see the hungrier in its eyes. "No stay away!" she cried out. The outlook grim and final.
Morgan grit her teeth and reach into her pocket and build out a dull green stone with cracks she held it close to her. The stone still had a faint glow from within Morgan closed her eyes and almost appeared as if she was praying. "Naga please let this work." She pleaded under her breath. A bright light projected from the stone and engulfed Morgan Shining out nearly blinding Nah and the Grizzly Wolfs. A thundering Roar bellowed from within the light as it clear they could see the green scales of Morgan's Dragon form.
Nah blinded didn't even see the beast right next to her. The grizzly wolf jaws lunged at her she blocked it with the side of her sword. The best tasting metal yanked the sword out of Nah hands levering her disarmed and defenseless.
Morgan enraged raised her head and spat out a ball of Fire at the Grizzly Wolf near her sister. The beast took a direct hit Nah felt the flames passing her face as the beast was rocketed into the rock wall engulfed in a blue flame that consumed the beast. Nah finally freeing her self-watches as Morgan turned to face the other two. The first one Morgan smack with her tail as the second jaws clamped down on her leg. The dragon Morgan's pain was a great letting out an agonized roar. Bending her neck to see the beast on her leg she breathed in and exhaled her Fire breath burning the creature on her leg. The Frist one recovering from the tail strike attack dragon Morgan's tail pulling trying to pull her. With another painful Roar she turned to burn the other Grizzly Wolf.
Nah grew ecstatic and yelled out "Go Morgan Finish them off!." Cheering throwing up one of her arms in to the air.
The large Alpha Grizzly Wolf herd the roars of pain from Morgan as her head turned away to deal with the other beast it moved. Taking off like lighting it Leap off the higher cliff. Morgan saw it, but to late the Alpha beast jumped landing on Morgan lunging its Teeth into Her neck. Dragon Morgan was tackled To the ground the screams of pain were heart breaking as Morgan felt unbelievable agony not only form the bite but her whole being felt the pain unbearable she cried out as once again the light engulfed Her and the dragon disappeared leaving behind the girl Morgan as she fell to ground the green stone she held cracked in half.
Nah was overcome with grief and unable to move seeing her sister about to be consumed by some beasts she fell to her knees crying. "No Morgan not again, I failed to protect you again." She balled and dread consumed her being.
The Grizzly Wolf picked up Morgan tossed Morgan with its mouth a she hit the wall encumber by pain all she could do see scream. Nah still crying saw the broken in half stone she picked it up. She stopped her Tears "no more I made of promise to protect every one and after all that I been thought I have not right to give up crying here."
Picking up the two halves and held it close she took off running at the beast Shouting at the top of her lungs. "I don't know if this will work but Naga grant me your aid and give me strength." She roared out in fury and fire.
The two stone halves started to glow the light shot out and just like Morgan it engulfed Nah and a Red Dragon appeared. "Now I'm mad!" Dragon Nah boomed. Charging at the Beast she smacks the smaller one with her wing sending it flying off the Cliff into the ravine. The Alpha Grizzled Wolf growled and hollowed at the Dragon Nah and leaped at her. Nah was furious swing her claws as the beast smacking it away and then she spat her flame at it. The Alpha Beast dodges the jumped at her again clawing and biting but it could not piece her scales. Nah had enough of this dodge its next attack she used her Dragon Jaws to Snatch it in the air by the neck and slammed into the rock face then the ground. The beast whining and wimping tried to flee. It stumbled over as Nah's Dragon foot pinned it down. She took one last look at the once mighty beast and then Inhaled. "You're pathetic!" she roared out and exhaled her fire breath roasting the Grizzly Wolf. With all the grizzly wolfs dispatched and defeated she let out a mighty roar of dominates. Dragon form reverted back to the girl she was and the stone haves turn to dust and blew away in the wind.
Nah recover her self-rushed over to Morgan she moving groaning in pain holding her wounds. She quickly helps her up and supported her as the two moved towards the cave. "Hang on Morgan we are almost there." She told her. Nah held up her Magic gauntlet unsealing the cave entrance and her and Morgan entered the rocks sealing behind them.
On the mountain peaks across the ravine two hunters laying there in the snow witnessing battle stood up. "The commander was right that Dragon girl's hideout was up in the mountains" the one of the hunter said. The other looked at him "we need to tell the others to the wyverns we go at once." The two took off leaving only a small flag to mark their location. They took off on their wyverns into the mountains with great haste while snow storm rage in the mountains and the sun set and the moon claimed the sky.
