Chapter 9

Never had he felt a pain like this. He opened his mouth to scream but no sound left his lips; he was beyond able to scream.

All of his body screamed in pain. Slowly, the pain started to move toward one part of his body.

His eyes closed and a silent scream left him once again. How he didn't pass out, he didn't know. The pain was beyond what he should be able to live with. All he wanted was for the pain to disappear and leave him alone.

But of course it didn't listen to him.

Slowly the pain moved over his back and up over his shoulders, where it stopped spreading.

What happen after that made him find his voice again and he screamed like never before.

Behind him, out from his back, a pair of snow white wings spread their way.

OoOoOoO

Dark didn't know what to do. The scream echoed in his mind long after it had stopped. The only thing he knew for sure was that he should have been with the one who screamed. He should had been there to ease the pain.

When the scream had started something had started to form around his heart, making it hard for it to beat. When the scream had stopped the pressure had eased a little but not enough. The only thing that would do that was seeing the one who screamed.

And he had no idea who that was.

Around him things started to move. Dark could feel how people started to move around him but he stood still at the same place he had stood when the scream started. He wasn't going to move anytime soon.

Dark could hear how people talked around him but no words found their way to his ears, not that he cared.

There was something familiar with the scream. Something told him that he knew who the screamer was. But how was that even possible? He knew no one here, or did he?

His Master.

Was it his Master who screamed, but why? Dark didn't understand.

He knew for sure now. The screamer was his old master. It was Krad.

OoOoOoO

In the household of the Hikari silence was the only sound that was heard.

The whole household, except the slaves, were gathered in the throne room. No one dared to speak. But everyone was curious how this had happened.

On the ground before the throne one dead body lay. The person they had known as the head of the house, Hikari-sama.

What had happen? No one knew, they just know that Hikari-sama lied on the floor bleeding from none existing wounds. No one dared to walk closer, not even the sons of the man. Everyone just stared at the dead body. What was going to happen with the household now? Was one of the sons going to take over?

No one said anything but everyone except the Hikari-sama's sons knew that that was impossible.

What had happened started to become understandable in their minds. They started to look around and saw the same understanding in everyone else eyes. The Hikari-sama that just had died was nothing else than an impostor. If they thought back, about ten years or more, they would have remembered the real Hikari-sama. The nice man with a wife and son. The one that treated everyone as they were worth something.

"Who killed out father?" the oldest son of the impostor asked everyone gathered in the room. "Who dared killing such a good man?"

The people gathered in the room looked at each other and shook their heads.

One man took a step forward and opened his mouth.

"No one did," he said. "That man was no Hikari and will never be." the man said what was in everyone's thoughts. "No one can take the name of the Hikari without the Hikari blood. Everyone in this room knows this except you; the third son of the impostor." The third son of the impostor, the blue haired small boy, nodded to the man to continue as if he already knew this. "If the real heir of the Hikari is alive at his 20th birthday the impostor will die. That is the Hikari magic for you." The man stopped and took a deep breath. "This means that the real Hikari heir is out there somewhere.

"The king has him."

Everyone turned their heads toward the talker. The blue haired boy.

"Hiwatari sent him to the king to get his title," the blue haired boy continued. "I don't know what the king wants with him thought."

After those words everyone started to talk. No one understood anything. The heir was alive. How was that even possible? Where had he been and why did the king have him? The way the boy had said it made it sound like he wasn't there as a guest. How did this boy know about the heir, when no one else did?

"How do you know this boy?" someone in the crowd asked. "No one else knows; how come you do?"

The blue haired boy smiled a small smile.

"That's because only I know who the heir was. He is my half-brother." the crowd loudly drew a breath. "The heir as you call him now," the boy continued. "Has been right in front of your eyes in years to now. He has been locked in his room.

"He was the only one that protested about that slave's punishment a month ago. When you did nothing."

The people in the room looked at each other again. They remembered the punished slave. They also remembered the other boy. The blond boy that had protested about that the punishment was too harsh. But no one had agreed with him, no one had dared.

That was the answer; they had been afraid of Hikari-sama or as the blue haired boy called him, Hiwatari.

Was the blond boy the real Hikari heir?

OoOoOoO

The king smiled when he heard the scream. It had finally started. Soon he could show his blonde slave. He was sure the white slave was the one who screamed and was ready to do his -what should he call it- job.

When the scream stopped and everyone started to move again the king stood up from his throne and started to move out of the room. In the corner of his eyes – when he left – he saw that one person, one slave, hadn't started to move. The slave that he had got in the same time as his white slave, was there a connection he couldn't see? The king shook his head and left the room.

He walked slowly through the hallway toward the room his Hikari heir was.

With a smile on his face he opened the door and his smiled widened when he saw the white wings. Now he was on his way. Soon he would be invincible.

"How do you feel, my slave?" the king asked and walked closer to the bed. The heir turned his head toward him and dull golden eyes met his. "Now you can start to work for me."

A bright smile grew on the king's lips. "You, my slave, are going to obey my every word, you won't be able to resist. And you will help me find the Mousy heir."

When he mentioned that name he could see some kind of light form in the blonde's eyes. So he did know something about the other heir.

"Do you know where he is?" he asked. "Answer me, slave," he continued when he got no answer.

"I don't know." The weak answer was almost missed. "I don't know where he is."

The king looked sceptical at him. He was sure his new slave knew something about the Mousy heir.

After a few seconds thoughts he reached out and grabbed the blonde's chin. He forced the slave to meet his eyes and he could clearly see that he was hiding something.

The king pulled the slave closer and whispered in his ear. "You only help yourself by telling me what you know."

Krad tried to shake his head but the hand on his chin made it impossible to even look away. The man before him had dark brown hair and dark almost black eyes. The feeling forming inside Krad was fear. Who ever the man before him was, he was evil.

But the man was right. He did know something about the Mousy heir. Not that he had connected it before this moment. The thing that had happen before he had woken up in this room had a connection to the Mousy heir. How stupid was he? The Mousy heir would be no other than the slave he had saved. How else had he been able to heal the wounds that had been on his back? No other slaves were able to do anything like that. And he was sure that the slave, Dark, hadn't been able to do it to anyone else before that. He should have seen it before.

The hand hardening around his chin brought him back to the present.

"What do you know?"

Krad opened his mouth. "Nothing." It was no way he would give this man his thoughts about Dark.

"Don't lie to me, slave. Don't lie to your king."

Krad's eyes opened up wide, slave, king, he didn't know what to think.

"I see that you just realized who I am. Maybe it is time for you to tell me the truth."

Krad met the king's eyes. When they met he couldn't look away. He wanted nothing, but to tell the truth. The eyes held him and forced him to tell the truth.

"The slave," he whispered. When the words left his lips he wished he hadn't said them.

OoOoOoO

Slowly Dark started to move. No one had eyes on him. He looked around before he looked down on the chains around his wrists and ankles. They didn't look that hard to open.

Without looking at them he started to pick the locks. A few minutes later the chains lay at his feet, as no one looked at him he slowly left the room.

Once outside he stopped and leaned against the wall. What had happen? Why had he left the room? What had made him leave?

Krad.

The name made him stand up again. Krad, he needed him, which was why he left.

Dark slowly walked trough the hallways toward where he felt a pull to.

Minutes went by as he walked. Dark could only trust the pull he felt. Why he trusted the pull, he didn't know but something deep inside him knew what is was. He could not disagree with himself.

As he walked he made sure he wasn't seen. For the first time in long time he felt free. It wasn't like when he tried to escape from Hiwatari.

That felt far away now. Also what had happen after that? His life now wasn't that different from his life before. It was still being ordered to do something he didn't want to do.

The only thing Dark missed was Daisuke, his brother. When he didn't see him every day he felt like he was abandoning him, like he broke his promise. The only thing that stopped him from believing that was Krad's promise; that they would meet again. He was going to make sure Krad held on to that promise.

Dark was lost in thought when he reached his destination. He stopped outside a closed door. The hallways were silent and empty but he could hear voices from the room.

"You will help me find the Mousy heir."

Dark stopped his hand from opening his door. He recognized that name. It took him some time to realize from where. The letter. That name came from the letter he had read in Krad's room.

"I don't know were he is." Krad's voice found its way to dark's ears.

Did Krad know who this Mousy heir was?

Dark still didn't know why the name felt like he should know it.

As dark was lost in his thoughts the words from the room escaped him, except the last ones; "The slave."

The two words found their way right to Dark's heart. The two words he knew were about him. But how could that be? He couldn't be the Mousy heir.

As soon as that thought had left him, a pain started to form in his back.

OoOoOoO

Niwa Daisuke woke up by shock. Something strange had woken him up. It felt like something very important had happened and he had missed it.

With big red eyes he looked around in the slave house. The cold creped closer to him and surrounded him. It wasn't only the cold from outside but something inside him grew too, he was sure it was about his brother.

Before they had come to this household he had gotten feeling about his brother. It had happened when something bad had happen to him, to Dark.

And now this feeling came back.

Daisuke sat up and pulled his legs closer to his chest, not only to get warmer, but to feel secure. Something bad was happening to Dark and he could do nothing to help him.

Scared eyes took in the room he was in. For many years this had been his home and his brother had been there protecting him from harm. Now he was alone and had no idea where his brother was. Had it been wrong to trust the blonde boy that had got his brother? Maybe it was too late to regret his decision but at least his brother was alive. If he hadn't trusted the boy his brother wouldn't be alive, Dark would not have survived the night.

A sound made Daisuke look up. He knew that everyone was asleep as it was in the middle of the night. But the sound came from outside the house. He was sure that someone was outside, waiting for something.

Without hesitating Daisuke stood up and walked over to the opening. His bare feet froze on the cold floor and the snow covering it didn't help much.

Slowly he walked and soon he stood just outside the house. He looked around and in the corner of his eyes he saw something blue walking toward him. When the person reached him he turned around and met the other eyes. Before him stood no other than the blue haired boy that had been with him that other night. What did he want here? Daisuke was sure that this person didn't belong in a place like this, so why was he near it?

"Just the one I was looking for."

The words left the blue haired boy and Daisuke took a step backwards. What did he mean? Was he looking for him? Why?

"Don't be afraid, I have something to tell you."

Daisuke looked at the blue haired boy and gave a small nod for the boy to continue.

"Come," the boy said. "You are freezing and we can't talk here. Follow me."

With that the boy turned around and walked away from the slave house. Daisuke looked at him for a few moments before he started to follow. His life couldn't get any worse than it was anyway.

He followed the other boy towards the big house. Once inside the blue haired grabbed his arm and dragged him to a small room.

Daisuke said nothing. He wasn't scared of the other boy. It was more a feeling of safe that met him, he felt safe with the blue haired boy.

"Come quickly before some one sees you. I don't think they will notice but we shouldn't take any chances."

When they reached the room the other boy closed the door behind them and stood listening by the door a few minutes before he turned around to look at him.

Daisuke watched him silently.

"What's your name?" the blue haired boy suddenly asked. "I know you can speak, don't be afraid I will not hurt you."

Daisuke watched silently before opening his moth for the first time in a long time. "Daisuke," he said. "Niwa Daisuke."

Why he told the boy his last name he was sure of but it felt right to do so.

"Niwa?" the blue haired boy said. "What the hell does a Niwa do for a slave? How come you are in this situation? You don't belong here."

Daisuke was taken back by the force of the blue haired boy's questions. Why was it so important that he was a Niwa? He was happy to know that he had a last name and remembered it. "I'm sorry," he whispered.

The other boy turned to him and took a closer look. "Don't be," was the only thing the boy said.

Daisuke looked up and met the cold but still not cold blue eyes.

"Why?"

"I didn't bring you here to talk about your name but I will give you mine. My name is Hiwatari Satoshi. I won't use the name Hikari as I'm no real Hikari. The one you call Hikari-sama, the one that ordered your brother to be punished," a small gasp from Daisuke made the boy stop and look at him. "Is no real Hikari," he continued a few seconds later. "And he is now dead."

"What?"

"It happened this morning. He was an imposer he tried to get the name Hikari but without the Hikari blood it is impossible and he had not a single drop. The real Hikari is my half brother but he is no longer in this house. And this is what I want to talk to you about."

Daisuke gave the boy a small nod to continue. He didn't really understand why Satoshi wanted to talk to him about the heir of Hikari but he would listen to it anyway.

"A few weeks ago -about two I think- the king was here. I don't really know his true purpose to come but when he left he wasn't alone.

"With him were two persons he hadn't had when he came. One was my brother, Krad, which is the real Hikari heir and the other person was a slave I had seen in his room. I think that slave was your brother. Any way the king took both of them with him to the castle. But the thing is that we need both of them here now."

Daisuke looked at the boy. He could understand why they needed the Hikari heir but why his brother? It felt strange to believe what Satoshi said about his brother. How could he even know he had a brother? "Why?" the word escaped him before he got a chance to stop it.

"I have a question to you before I answer that one. Is your brother your half brother? Do you have the same father?"

Daisuke looked deep into the blue eyes. "Yes," he said. "Dark is my half brother but I don't think he knows that. Before our mother met my father she was married to someone else. This was Dark's father but he died not long after Dark had been born. A few years later mother married my father and become a Niwa."

Satoshi nodded. "What was the name of her first husband?"

Daisuke closed his eyes and tried to remember. "She only told me once. This was because I had to look after my big brother as she said it. I know that they made Dark promise to look after me but I had promised my mother to look after Dark too. She told me that when the time was right he would get his true name and needed to be protected when that happened… His real name is Mousy."
