The Kings of Magnolia

Chapter 10: Cemetery Gates Pt. 2

It was about 12:30 in the afternoon when a red pick-up pulled into the lot in the back of Fairy Tail where the employees parked. Natsu Dragneel, owner of the massive vehicle, stepped down from the driver's seat and looked at the building in front of him. He took a huge breath, held it for a second, and exhaled. From there, he began making his way to the door. He was not sure how he was going to approach this, but he felt that it was something that needed to be addressed. He came here today to find Mirajane and Elfman Strauss, and he was finally going to let them know what's been on his mind for a little while now.

He just hoped that they weren't already mad at him.

They didn't seem to be bothered by what he'd been doing lately, but for all he knew they were just waiting for him to be absent before going off on him. He had known the Strauss' for a long time; they were very close friends, and they never seemed like the type of people who would do something like that. He even asked everyone if they were upset with him, just to be sure, but no one confirmed any of his fears.

Natsu entered the building and looked around the hallway. He saw Makarov's office door was closed and didn't see Laxus or anyone hanging around. He didn't see any of their vehicles outside, so they must've been busy or something, Natsu figured. He began walking again, and entered the kitchen area of Fairy Tail. All of the workers that were there greeted the man with the scarf around his neck. Natsu gave them all a smile and waved as he passed them by. Next came the door that lead to the actual bar part of Fairy Tail. This is where he expected to see the Strauss siblings.

And once he got passed the door, he saw them both, standing by the counter holding a small chit-chat session between brother and sister.

"Um, hey there…" Natsu said with a little bit apprehensiveness as he approached the two.

They both turned their heads to look at the pink-haired man. "Oh Natsu, good to see you!" Mira spoke first, and as usual she had on that oh so pleasant smile on her flawless face.

"Hey there he is! What's going on Natsu?" said the hulking man named Elfman Strauss.

Natsu leaned on the bar counter and looked around; he still hadn't figured out how he would initiate the conversation. "Are, uh, any of the other guys around here?" he decided to start with a little bit of small talk first.

Elfman shook his head. "Nope, haven't seen anyone around yet."

"Are you looking for someone in particular?" Mira added. "You could always call them you know."

"Yeah… I know" Natsu said in low voice while still keeping his vision away from Mira and Elfman. He looked visibly uncomfortable and was unusually quiet. This didn't go unnoticed by either of the two. Natsu was the type of guy that would step in any place and immediately fill it with noise. This wasn't the Natsu they were used to. They both looked at each other and wondered what was wrong with their usually boisterous friend.

"Yo Natsu, you feeling okay?" Elfman spoke. "You're not being very manly right now."

"Is that so…?" Natsu started twiddling his thumbs. He mentally cursed himself for being so easy to read.

"Are you sick or something?" Mira said with concern in her voice. "Or don't tell me… did you and Lucy break up?"

Natsu sighed. "Nah, I'm not sick, Mira, and Lucy is still my lady." He figured that was a good opening as he would get, so Natsu chose to go with it. "Actually, I came here today to talk to you guys about her."

The two Strauss' weren't sure why Natsu would need to talk to them about Lucy. This was certainly an odd thing for him to bring up to them of all people.

"What for?" Mira said with her head tilted in confusion.

"Can we, um, go somewhere a little more private?" Natsu stood himself back up. "I'd rather this be something just us three hear."

Mira and Elfman looked at each other again questioningly, still not knowing what was up. They both shrugged and started to walk around the bar counter. "Let's go up to the second floor. No one is up there right now." Elfman offered.

The three made their way up a winding staircase that lead to the next level of the famous bar. The second floor acted as sort of a VIP section on really busy nights. It was the spot members of the Family would hang out at if they were enjoying their nightlife at Fairy Tail.

Natsu looked down at the first floor and noticed that construction of the stage they were installing in the bar was near completion. "Live performances are soon for this joint, huh?" Natsu said.

Mira nodded her head enthusiastically. "Yup! It should be done by the end of this week. I can't wait till we are able to hear live music being performed!"

"I just hope that we have some manly music being played." Elfman piped in. "The stuff these speakers pump out don't really do it for me." The burly head of Fairy Tail security and his barmaid sister both took a seat at the nearest table.

"But you didn't bring us up here just to talk about the stage, right Natsu?" Mira mentioned with her sweet smile still plastered on her face. "What do you need to tell us about Lucy?"

With his arms crossed on his chest, he stood in front of the pair sitting at the table. He felt uneasy, but he had to get it out there for them to hear. 'Well, here goes nothing.' "Are, uh, you guys mad at me for being with her?"

"Why would we be mad at you for that?" said a confused Mira.

"Because… I don't know if you guys can tell, but I'm pretty serious about Lucy." Natsu continued.

"We can see that, Natsu." Elfman responded whilst grinning. "You haven't been with a single girl this long in a while."

"We wish you two the best of luck with everything!" Mira cheerily added.

Natsu wasn't quite sure if they were being genuine. They seemed happy for him, but he wasn't completely sold. "You guys for real? I mean, are you really not angry with me for being with Lucy?"

"Look man, we have no idea why we would have any reason to be mad at you." Elfman didn't get why Natsu brought that up again. Why would either of them be upset with him? "I don't know what you're trying to get at with this."

"There has to be something bothering you, Natsu. You mind letting us know what's up?" said the bewildered barmaid.

Natsu released a heavy sigh. It looks like they really weren't mad at him. But even so, he still felt like he had to talk to them about something that had been on his mind ever since he started getting serious with Lucy.

"Okay, I believe you guys. But the reason I thought you two would be upset with me is…" Natsu began to nervously scratch the back of his head. "… is because of… Lisanna."

Now that was not a name that Mirajane and Elfman heard very often these days. And when they did, it usually had the same effect on them. The expressions on their faces fell and memories, painful memories, of their deceased little sister flashed inside their heads.

"Why… now why would that make us upset… Natsu?" said the woman with long white hair. Both Mira and Elfman had their heads down; eyes looking towards their laps.

Natsu didn't like what he was doing to them, and now he kind of regretted bringing it up in the first place. No turning back now though. "Well, you remember how we were. Lisanna and I… man, we were really close."

"Yeah, I remember." Elfman spoke with a forlorn smile on his face. He began to recall memories when Natsu and Lisanna were young. "I remember you two playing 'house' together when you guys were kids."

Natsu smiled at that. He, like Mira and Elfman, also held on to precious memories of the girl with short, white hair named Lisanna.

Mira nodded. "Yes, you two were inseparable. All the way up to high school, you guys were together as much as possible." Mira matched Elfman's sorrowful smile with her own. "I… We both really miss her."

"I know, and I do too." Natsu looked at the heartbroken pair. "So, I just wanted to make sure that you guys didn't think I was forgetting about Lisanna or anything like that. I thought that with Lucy in the picture, you two might have started to think that I was trying to replace her. It's… just scary, you know?"

The two siblings looked back up to face the man with pink hair.

"I haven't cared about a girl like this since Lisanna." Natsu continued. "It's really weird. The shit is sort of freaking me out, to be honest." Natsu let out a nervous chuckle. "I felt a little guilty, too. Like, when I first met Lucy, Lisanna didn't even register in my thinking! And I just kept going on with this new girl, and it wasn't till, like, a week and a half ago that Lisanna started to reappear in my thoughts. It… seriously made me feel like shit."

Natsu hung his head. He was incredibly disappointed in himself for allowing Lisanna to fade from his thoughts, if even just for a few weeks. Natsu felt awful, and knew what he was saying might even be making the situation worse than it actually was. If they weren't mad at him before, then they might be angry with him now for admitting to not thinking about their little sister whom he was so very close with. Natsu couldn't bear to look at them anymore.

"Oh c'mon, man up Natsu!"

Natsu's head shot back up and he came face to face with both Strauss' who were giving him authentic smiles.

"You think Lisanna would want to see you like this?" Elfman said with his arms crossed. "Lisanna didn't waste her time with chumps; she only surrounded herself with real men!"

"Elfman…" Natsu looked at the man, whose muscles were bulging out of his shirt, with wide eyes.

"You were worried for nothing Natsu." Mira said in her normal, cheerful voice. "I'll admit that, yes, in a perfect world, our sister would still be here, and you two would have still been stuck to each other like glue. But…" Mira swallowed a lump in her throat. "… Things don't always work out the way you want them to. However, that doesn't mean you don't keep pushing forward, and the last thing Lisanna would want is for you not to be able to love again just because she isn't around."

"So stop looking so down! Where's the Natsu that Lisanna loved so much, huh?" Elfman said in a teasing tone.

"You guys…" Natsu didn't know how to react right away, but they did have a point. Their sister would hate to see him act so unsure about himself. And it didn't matter if she wasn't alive, he didn't want to disappoint her. "Fuck, you two are right!" Natsu's signature dopey grin reappeared again. "I'm sorry about all of this. I know it isn't like me to be all gloomy and shit. That used to be Gray's job!"

"There you go!" Elfman grin grew wider.

"I hope you feel better now that you spoke to us Natsu." Mira clasped her hands together.

"Yeah, I'm good now!" Natsu responded. "And now that I got all of that off my chest, I think there's someplace I have to go to when I get up with Lucy a little later in the day." Natsu turned to leave, and flashed the brother and sister one last toothy grin before leaving. "Thanks you two!" and from there, Natsu took off down the stairs like a bullet.

Elfman stood up from his seat and offered his sister a hand. Mira smiled and lifted herself up with her brother's assistance. "So, you wanna head there later today?" Elfman asked, knowing that his sister knew what he was talking about.

Mirajane let out a sigh and nodded. "Of course, I'll have Kinana cover for me."

Elfman threw an arm around Mira's shoulders and gave her a comforting squeeze. "C'mon, let's get back to work."

Gray lay lazily on his couch with his hands folded on the back of his head and eyes looking up towards the ceiling. He was waiting for his girlfriend to finish getting ready so that they could both head out and have lunch.

He didn't know where they would go, but he knew that they would end up somewhere that they would both enjoy. And that is pretty much how the pair decided to go about their day together.

They felt like winging it.

"You almost ready?" Gray called out to Juvia.

Juvia was looking all over Gray's room for something. She was sure that she left it there. "Um, almost! Juvia is looking for something."

"Alright then…" Gray shrugged. He knew how chicks were when they got ready to go out somewhere. At this point in life, he knew better then to get frustrated when they took their time. He just hoped she found whatever she was looking for soon.

"What is it exactly that you're looking for?" Gray figured he'd move the process along by extending his help to her.

"Juvia is actually looking for her favorite hat!" he heard her respond back.

Gray knew what she was talking about and smiled. He knew she loved that hat, and since it had gotten cold outside, he had been seeing it a lot more often. "Oh, you mean that weird looking fur hat you like wearing?" he said, knowing it would get a rise out of Juvia.

"Juvia's hat is not weird!" she shot back, causing Gray to chuckle at her reaction.

"Whatever you say…"

"Don't be mean!" Juvia looked under the bed. She doubted it was under there, but checked anyway. "Well, has Gray seen where Juvia might have put it?"

"Hmm…" Now that Gray thought about it, he did remember seeing the hat around his apartment very recently. As a matter of fact, he actually held it in his hand not too long ago. "Now that you mention it, I think I put it away in my closet when you were sleeping last night."

Juvia stopped looking under the bed and sat up on her knees. "Really?"

"Yeah, I found it on the floor last night when I got up to go to the bathroom." Gray replied. "You love that hat so much you just leave it lying around on the floor?"

Juvia got up and went straight for Gray's walk-in closet. "Oh stop it!"

Gray imagined the pout that Juvia probably had on her face at that moment and smirked to himself. "Come to think of it, it's your fault that it was on the floor; you undressed for me so quickly last night. I remembered how much you loved that hat, so when I got up I just brought it to the closet."

Juvia blushed at the memory of last night and entered Gray's large closet. "W-Well, sure, I guess it was my fault." She looked around and had yet to find her precious fur hat. "Do you remember exactly where you put it?"

"I think I placed it on the shelf above where my shirts are hanging." She heard him say.

Juvia looked up and, sure enough, she saw her hat on the shelf that Gray said he had placed it on. "Found it, thank you!"

She lifted herself up by her tip-toes and struggled a bit to reach for it, but she eventually grabbed it and brought the foreign looking piece of headwear down with her. "Got it!"

However, that wasn't the only thing she brought down with her, as she heard an audible thud on floor beside her. Juvia turned to look at what had fallen and her eyes became enlarged at the sight of gun lying on the floor.

She was in a state of shock looking at the firearm. Juvia had never seen a gun this close before. She slowly lowered herself to get a better look at it. The woman didn't know much about handguns, but she knew what she was looking at was the real deal. Juvia put her hat on the floor and continued to study the gun. Why in the world was this thing here?

She carefully scooped the thing up with her hands; both of which were shaking so nervously. This was obviously Juvia's first time holding a deadly weapon of this kind. "Why would Gray need something like this?" she whispered to herself. It didn't make sense to Juvia. She couldn't figure out why Gray would have a need for something so dangerous in his home. Of course she knew that he didn't grow up in the best of neighborhoods in Magnolia, but that time had passed. Gray made something of himself and got out of the terrible parts of town.

Juvia needed an answer, but she had no clue how to go about it. Maybe she should just put it back where it was and continue as if she never saw anything. That would probably be for the best, she thought. Juvia stood back up and was about to put the weapon back where it was until she heard a voice behind her and it froze her entire body.

"What do you got there?"

Juvia slowly turned her head to see Gray leaning by the entrance of the closet with his arms crossed. Now Juvia has had Gray look at her in many different ways on many different occasions. And all of them made her feel good. Juvia loves the feeling of being looked upon by the one she loves the most.

This time, however, was completely different. Gray's eyes were narrow and his gaze made her feel uncomfortable for the first time in the month that they've been together. His stare made Juvia feel as if she did something that she shouldn't have. This was a new sensation for Juvia.

"G-Gray…" she said, responding to the man by the closet door. "… what is this?"

Gray's eyes were strongly focused on the bluenette in front of him. His gaze had never been more intense, Juvia thought.

"It's a gun, Juvia." Gray said in a calmly manner. "That's what it is."

"Yes, I know that." Juvia turned her entire body over to Gray's direction, gun still in the palm of her hands. "But, why do you have one?"

Gray just shrugged at her question. "Does it matter? I have a permit to carry, so who cares if I have one."

"I-I see…" Juvia's voice had become a little shaky at Gray's calm, yet intimidating, demeanor. "Is there any particular reason Gray owns a firearm?"

"Just because."

"Um, that doesn't seem like a good enough reason to own a gun Gray." Juvia wasn't sure if that was the correct thing to say to him, but she really wasn't satisfied with his answer. "Juvia figures there has to be anot-"

"Really now?" Gray said, cutting her off. "And what would be a good reason to own a gun Juvia. C'mon, you tell me." His voice became a little more combative.

"Well, Juvia doesn't know. That's why she is bringing this up to you. I don't know anything about firearms, and if I'm going to be staying over here almost every night, I should have a right to know why there's a deadly weapon in Gray's home!" Juvia's voice also became a little more confrontational. This was their first fight, and she didn't expect that it would be over the fact that Gray owned a gun. He may own another, for all she knew. He never brought this up before.

Gray tilted his head at her with an eyebrow raised. "So, you need a reason? Is that all?"

"I-I'd like to hear one." She quickly replied.

"Okay then… I have a gun, Juvia, because you just never know." That was Gray's simple response.

"Because you never know… what?" Juvia wanted a little more than that.

"Like I said, something awful could happen, and you just never know." Gray explained.

"Around here?" Juvia was a little skeptical at his answer. "Gray lives in a very pleasant neighborhood, nothing awful ever happens around here."

"So? That doesn't mean I should just let my guard down." He retorted. "No one can predict the future Juvia. Something could go down tomorrow, and I'd like to always be prepared. Is that so wrong?"

"No…" Juvia knew his explanation had a certain logic to it, but for some reason, she didn't feel completely sold. "… but Gray, you aren't living in the kind of neighborhood that you grew up in. This isn't a place where you have to keep your defenses up."

"Look, I don't want to talk anymore about this, Juvia." Gray was tired of having to explain himself. Why did she have to keep pressing on? "Just give me the gun, and let's be done with it."

"But Gray!" she loudly protested.

"Give me the gun, Juvia." He extended his hand out for her to give him the gun.

"Juvia isn't don-"

"Give me the fucking gun, Juvia!" The volume in his voice grew much louder than before; it was obvious that he was losing his cool. Gray watched as she flinched at his words, like he was about to hit her. He immediately regretted what came out of his mouth, and he rightly began to feel like shit. He wasn't happy with the situation, but that didn't mean he wanted to make Juvia uncomfortable, sad or upset with him.

Gray raked a hand through his hair in frustration. "Hey… I'm sorry, okay?" as he approached her, he saw that she had her hands out, giving him back the firearm. He could tell that her hands were trembling and she refused to look at him. Her eyes were looking to the side, and had a frightened look to them.

Gray took the handgun back and placed it back on the shelf above his shirts. In all honesty, Gray had completely forgotten that there was a gun there. It's not like he had a reason to use one these days. And Juvia was right: this neighborhood wasn't prone to violence like the neighborhoods he grew up in.

Gray looked back at Juvia's shaking figure. He didn't want her to fear him. He didn't want her to think of him as, well, the person he really was. Gray had to calm her down; he cared for his girlfriend too much, and he needed to reassure her of that.

Juvia felt a pair of powerful arms wrap her tightly, and she began to calm down a little.

"I'm sorry, Juvia. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that." He felt her head buried in his chest and he hugged her tighter. "I… I just need you to trust me, alright?" Gray mouthed a 'fuck' to himself. He needed to be more careful. There couldn't be any more mistakes after today. "It's only for protection; nothing more, nothing less."

She lifted her arms and hugged him back. He felt her nod on his chest. "Yes, Juvia trusts you. She will continue to believe in Gray." The bluenette had no trouble placing trust in the man whom she fell deeply in love. Maybe Gray just didn't know how to bring this up to her. That had to be it.

Unbeknownst to her, though, it was really just a case of Gray forgetting that he had a gun in the closet.

"Good." Gray kissed her cheek and the woman in his arms blushed. "Oh yeah, let's not forget this!" Gray crouched down and grabbed the thing that brought Juvia to the closet in the first place.

He took her fur hat and dropped it on her head covering her eyes in the process.

"Hey!" she said while adjusting her hat so that she could see again. She gave him the smile that Gray always loved seeing on her. And watching her smile, he knew that he couldn't be sloppy around her anymore. Otherwise, he would risk losing that smile for good.

From here on out, no more mistakes.

Lucy was pissed.

So very pissed.

She was riding in the passenger seat of Natsu's truck, and the driver of the vehicle was completely ignorant of the fact that his blonde girlfriend was not very happy with him at the moment. He just had that dumb grin on his face and continued to drive like everything was all right in the world.

Lucy Heartfilia did not want to go where Natsu was taking her. At all.

She thought that they would just spend another day together in bliss. Like a normal boyfriend and girlfriend should. But this asshole called her up and said that they were going to visit a close friend of his. Natsu sounded excited to take her there, and Lucy was very curious to meet the person that had Natsu all giddy.

However, she became much less interested when she found out that he wanted to take her to meet a girl named Lisanna. What is wrong with this guy? What kind of boyfriend would take his girl to visit another girl who he admits to being to 'close' to? All Lucy knew was that once she met this… Lisanna, she had no plans on being nice to this woman. And when they were done with that, she would also give that pink-haired idiot a piece of her mind.

"You all right, Luce? You haven't said anything in a while." Natsu broke their long silence as he drove his truck.

"Oh, I'm fine, Natsu, just peachy." Lucy had a very dissatisfied look to her; narrowed eyes and crossed arms under her breasts.

Natsu just shrugged at her answer and took her at her word. "Okay then, if you say so."

'Idiot' she thought. How the hell did this guy not figure out something was up with her? She wasn't making herself very hard to read. This guy was as dense as ever. She shook her head and watched as Magnolia passed her by on the passenger side window.

Five more minutes of silence passed by when Lucy decided to speak, hoping that it would lessen her current state of aggravation.

"Did you speak to Gajeel yet?" she asked, referencing the conversation they had in his truck the week prior about Levy.

"Huh?" Natsu seemed confused. "Talk to Gajeel about what?"

"Natsu…" anger began to rise within the blonde again. " Please tell me you're joking…"

"Joking about what?" Yup, he actually forgot about what they had talked about last week.

"Ugh!" Lucy dropped her head into her hands and shook it viciously. "You dumbass!"

"What did I do?" the pink-haired man still couldn't remember about what he promised to do for her.

"Natsu, I asked you last week to talk to Gajeel about possibly meeting up with Levy for some sort of date or something!" She shouted. "Don't you remember that at all!?"

"No, I don't Lucy, I really do-" Then something finally clicked in his head. "Oh… I guess I do remember now. Whoops!"

"'Whoops'?" she repeated in an astounded manner. "You know what, you're such an asshole. Forget it." She placed her chin on the palm of her hand and went back to looking out of the passenger side window.

"You're really that upset because of that?" Natsu wasn't quite sure how to handle Lucy at the moment. They'd never fought like this before. "I mean, I'm sorry okay? I'll talk to him as soon as I can!" In Natsu's defense, he had only seen the pierced-faced man once in the past week. Gajeel tended to keep to himself most of the time.

"Whatever." She deadpanned in response.

Natsu was really surprised at how mad she was at him. He didn't know that hooking Levy up with Gajeel meant that much to her. Little did the man know that most of Lucy's frustrations stemmed from the misunderstanding that Natsu was taking Lucy to see another girl. Which he was, only the girl they were going to see was six feet underground. This was also Natsu's fault though; he didn't make it very clear that Lisanna was dead.

Natsu just sighed and shook his head and continued to drive in silence. He hoped that Lucy would cool off by the time they got to Lisanna.

The ride finally stopped when Natsu pulled into a parking lot. "Alright, we're here." He said as he took his key from the ignition.

Lucy looked around at her surroundings. A cemetery? What in the holy hell were they doing here? The blonde was very puzzled.

"C'mon, this is where she is." Natsu opened his door and stepped out of his vehicle.

Was this Lisanna girl meeting us at a cemetery? What a weird chick. Lucy just sighed and exited through her side of the truck. Whatever, the sooner they finished this, the better. Lucy didn't want to be around this Lisanna girl longer than she had to be.

She walked beside Natsu as they made their way into the cemetery. They walked in silence up a concrete path. Lucy looked around and saw few people here and there, but no one that looked anywhere close to their age group.

Where the fuck was this Lisanna broad?

"There she is!" Natsu pointed at a stone that was about nine feet away from them.

Huh? But that was a tombstone. Was Natsu going crazy?

No he wasn't. Not this time, anyway. He was just a dumbass that didn't tell her that Lisanna was someone who had passed away.

Realization hit Lucy like a ton of bricks. Now she began to feel bad for being angry at Natsu.

They both approached the large stone, and stood in front of it. Natsu was closer to it than Lucy, who stood behind him and watched to see what he would do next.

Natsu looked at stone with a sad smile on his face.

Rest in Peace

Beloved Younger Sister

Lisanna Strauss

"What's up?" The pink-haired man spoke like she was there in front of him. "I'm back again!" he chuckled.

"I spoke with your brother and sister today." Natsu continued. "For some silly reason, I thought they were mad at me. I know, that's just stupid of me to think. They could never be mad at me. Not seriously, anyway. But hey, I wanted to tell you that they're doing well. Everyone else is, too! Even me, heh heh." Natsu scratched the back of his head as he released a small laugh.

"Oh hey, I want to introduce you to someone." He looked behind him and brought Lucy closer to him.

"Um, Natsu…?" Lucy wasn't sure about this. She felt a little uncomfortable being introduced to a dead person.

He had an arm around her shoulder and continued to address the stone. "This person right here, her name is Lucy, and she's really cool! Say 'hi', Luce!" he said.

"Um… hi there…" This was definitely weird for her, but she knew this was important to him, so she would play along, no matter how sad this really was.

"She's my new lady friend now! Well, it's been a month so far, and I really dig this chick!" he said being very enthusiastic. "I wanted to bring her here to show you that I'm finally moving on. Like, I could never forget you or anything, Lisanna…" he lowered his down a bit, but with a smile still in place. "… but I can't stay sad about you forever. I'm gonna move on with Lucy here by my side. She's been great to me, and I really love her for that."

Lucy looked at Natsu's melancholic smile. It made her want to frown, but she knew she had to be strong for him. She couldn't be anything less than cheerful, especially after how much he had just talked her up to Lisanna. So she smiled at him for showing this much strength to say these things to the grave of someone who he had obviously loved at some point in life. Lucy rubbed Natsu's back in a show of support for him. This dummy was the man she loved, and she would be right next to him anytime he needed her.

"Lisanna, I hope you're doing all right, wherever you are." The pink-haired man fought the tears that threatened to come out. "I'm finally moving forward, and I found the right person to support me."

"So…" Natsu let out a sorrowful chuckle, and the tears he was fighting against finally won him over. "I just wanna say that… I'll be seeing you… and I'll remember to always be a man."

Natsu dropped his arm off of Lucy's shoulder and began to walk away.

Lucy's face fell to a frown as she watched her boyfriend walk away. Natsu was always a cheery guy; what she was seeing was a completely different side of him.

The blonde looked to the grave before her and nodded. "Don't you worry; I'll take good care of him."

She made her way towards her still walking boyfriend and eventually caught up with him. She wrapped her arms around his torso and kept him in place.

"You going to be all right, Natsu?" she asked worriedly.

She saw him nod and he turned to look down at her. "You're here, right?"

She gave him a satisfied grin. "That's right, I'm here."

They both looked at each other for a good long minute before the pink-haired man turned around to give her a proper embrace.

From over Lucy's shoulder, Natsu saw two figures walking up the path that he and Lucy were walking up not too long ago. As they moved closer, he saw that the two people walking up were Mirajane and Elfman Strauss, his two good friends.

He moved back and looked down at Lucy. "We got to go now. The family needs their time together."

Lucy looked back and saw the two making their way up to Lisanna's grave. She recognized them from Fairy Tail, and was a bit surprised to find out that they had ties to Lisanna. But Natsu was right, they needed time for themselves.

Natsu's arm returned around Lucy's shoulders, and from there, they walked back towards the entrance of the cemetery. Natsu told Lisanna that he would keep moving forward, and with Lucy around, that's exactly what he would do.

AN: And that's a wrap on Cemetery Gates!

As always, let me know what you think! Not sure what I'm gonna name the next chapter, but whatever; it's just a title after all.

See you guys at the next update! Which will hopefully be soon.
