Hey! Sorry for the long wait. My work load in school has been crazy lately so finding the time to write has been troubling, but today I was free so here you go. Chapter Ten
Stuck
Andy's POV
Andy sat in the parade room smiling. She had been back on duty for a week now and so far it had been great. On Monday she was paired with Hazel, Tuesday with Jen, and Wednesday with Luis.
In front of her Jason and Luis sat, facing her and Hazel. They were talking about a case that was going on when, all of a sudden, Connor came rushing in.
"Holy hell guys," he said when he got to them, "You won't believe what I just found out!"
They all turned to him questioningly. After a long pause he gave them an exasperated look,
"Well aren't you going to ask me what it is?" he said
They all gave him a course of "Whats" and "What is its,"
He grinned at them before continuing,
"Well since you asked, I just found out, from Detective Moriarty, that Kevin got arrested last a few weeks ago,"
They all gaped at him in disbelief,
"What did he do?" asks Hazel
"Well," says Connor, "Apparently he punched an officer from 15,"
Andy immediately perked up,
"Who?" she asks concernedly.
Connor just shrugged,
"I don't know, but they're fine," he reassures her.
She gives him a light smile before she turns to Hazel.
"What do you think Jackie's gonna do when she finds out?" she asks
Hazel shakes her head.
"I don't know but she is gonna be pissed when she finds out?" says Hazel.
Andy nodded and turned her attention to where Thomas was standing next to Detective Moriarty. While they were talking about Kevin the rest of 27 had filed in. She craned her neck to see if Jackie was there yet but so far she hadn't shown up. She was just about to look back at Thomas when the door to the parade room opened abruptly. In walked Jackie looking like someone had just kicked her puppy. When she stepped in everyone turned to look at her. Several people started whispering as she turned and walked to where the rest of the rookies were sitting. She chose a seat in front of Luis and Connor and right before she sat down she looked at everyone in the room and gave them a huge glare.
The room was silent for a few seconds before Thomas started talking. Nothing major so far, a couple of vandals were spray painting stop signs black, someone got their car jacked by Grange Park, etc. When he was done giving announcements he turned to Detective Moriarty.
"Now Detective Moriarty would like to say some things," he said nodding at the detective.
Detective Moriarty quietly moved from where he was standing at Thomas's side and walked to the board.
"Richard Morris," he said as he put a picture of an scruffy looking, middle-aged man, on the board. "Last night he and his buddies robbed a bank on 21st Street. They took almost 100,000 dollars in cash and killed one of the tellers. We caught his buddies a few blocks from the bank, one was shot in the stomach, another was knocked unconsious. The one that was shot is currently in the ICU. The other one is in holding. Apparently he turned on them and took the cash. He is still on the loose so be on the lookout for him. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket with black pants and a black t-shirt. If you see him proceed with caution, he has already shot three people, who knows what he'll do next."
He gave a few more details about Morris's description before he let Thomas take over again.
"Okay," says Thomas, "So today the pairings are Jen and Hazel, Luis and Connor, Jason's with the detectives, Andy your with Jackie, Ron is with..."
Andy tuned him out as he continued, Oh great, she thought Jackie is going to be angry all day.
She turned her head to look at Hazel who was giving her a pitying look.
She quietly asked, "What should I do?"
Hazel shook her head before saying "Don't get on her nerves,"
Andy sighed before saying "That's the problem, I am always on her nerves,"
Traci's POV
Traci was tired. Last night Dex was supposed to call Leo... he didn't. So she spent all night reassuring Leo that his daddy loved him. Then when she finally got him to fall asleep she got called down to the some murder scene. So she got barely any sleep last night and now she has to deal with some dead bank teller.
She was walking out of the parade room when Chris grabbed her arm. Startled she let him drag her to one of interrogation rooms. When he finally let go of her she turned around and said,
"Chris is something wrong?" she asked "Why did you take me here?"
Chris glanced around, as if someone was watching them before he spoke,
"I don't think Andy's bipolar," he said quickly, before she could respond he kept going " I mean like, how do we know that Marlo was telling the truth about that pill bottle? What if it wasn't Andy's. We have known Andy for almost five years, in that time she has never given us any reason to believe she was bipolar, so why do we believe Marlo, who we barely know, about this?" he asked.
Traci paused before she gave her response "Chris... I don't know. I mean sure, we haven't known Marlo for that long but we have no evidence that says she has lied to us before, so why would she be lying about this?"
Chris shrugged " I don't know why she would be lying, but I do know that we don't know if she is telling the truth." he says
Traci ran her hands through her hair, annoyed "I don't know what you want me to do Chris! Even if she isn't bipolar she still blew us off at the hospital. She still hasn't called. What does it matter if she isn't bipolar at this point!" Traci exclaimed angrily
Chris looked at her for a long time "Trace," he said quietly, "I know you think she is to blame for all of this, but we aren't innocent. We haven't called her and you know that, that night in the hospital we didn't go up to her in a nice way. I'm not saying that all this isn't her fault at all, I'm saying we can't blame just her. All I am asking you is to help me find the truth. Maybe she is bipolar but maybe she isn't. Either way we should find out whether or not what Marlo said was true."
Traci hesitated before she finally said "Fine. I'll help you,"
Andy's POV
Andy sat quietly in the cruiser. That's been what she's been doing for the whole day. The day had been slow so far and Jackie had shot down all the attempts she had made at conversation so far with a glare. They still had several hours to go of their shift and she had a feeling that those hours would be some of the most uncomfortable in her life.
"We have a possible breaking and entering in progress at the Mills Warehouse on Simmon Avenue, witnesses report seeing a man forcing his way into the building." the radio blurts out suddenly
Andy quickly grabbed the radio "2703 responding,"
Jackie glanced at her, annoyed to have to actually do some police work.
Andy didn't say anything, just happy to be doing something besides sitting awkwardly in the car.
They got there quickly and as soon as Jackie stopped the car and hopped out. She surveyed the building as Jackie, who was taking much more time to get out, gave another annoyed sigh. It was a very large and very abandoned building, complete with stunning features such as broken glass, and obscenities written in graffiti.
Once they were both situated, they quietly rounded the corner to where the perp had been spotted. The lock on the door did indeed look busted as it hung ineffectively from the door. She and Jackie quickly drew their guns and with Andy in the lead, they walked through the doors of the wrecked warehouse. The first few rooms they looked through were clean but as they walked into the next room Andy got this weird feeling in her gut. She timidly looked around the room. Unlike the others this one had only one window. This window was about 12 feet of the ground. The room was mostly barren other than a few crates that must have been left behind when it got shut down.
She and Jackie looked behind all the crates
"Clear" called Jackie from behind one of them. Andy was just about to say the same when she heard what sounded like footsteps coming from the hall outside the room. She started towards the door but before she got there it started to close.
"Police!" she shouted in the hopes that the person that was closing the door would stop once they knew who was in the room.
The person closing the door didn't pause though. And right before the doors closed completely, she caught a glimpse of the person closing it, It was Richard Morris.
She paused for a second before she continued going to the door. When she got there she quickly jaggled the handle. It was no use; the door had been locked from the outside.
