Chapter 9

I looked at myself in a long, gilded mirror. I was wearing golden armor with the Elements of Harmony embedded in various points. I turned around and looked around the room. It was fairly simple. Bed with silk sheets, a chest in the far corner.

"Harmony," I heard a voice say. I turned around to see my reflection talking to me.

"This a weird dream."

"Your control of Harmony is incomplete," my reflection stated, "You must gain the power of Chaos."

"Okay, reflection me," I replied, "But Harmony and Chaos are completely different things."

"Are they?"

A yin-yang replaced my reflection and I stared at it. Then, the yin grew until it encompassed most of the symbol. The voice returned, "Harmony is a balance. Chaos is also a balance of Dark and Light. In order to defeat a Darkness you must use the power as well."

Before I could ask what I was supposed to do, the dream faded.

I slowly opened my eyes and looked up at the purple roofing of the four post bed. I looked around the room in the castle and contemplated the dream.

"Do you know what is going on?" I asked aloud.

Twilight appeared and replied, "It seemed pretty obvious. You somehow need Discord. But what Darkness did your dream talk about?"

"I'm not sure." I slipped my shoes on and opened my door, "I'm going to walk to clear my head."

I stepped out into the hall and inhaled the warm night air. I walked down the hall for a few minutes before I became aware of a second pair of footsteps.

I slipped into a doorway as I heard Phoebus say, "I want to see my sister."

After a few seconds he said, "No, Pegasus. I want to see her now. If you don't I will take her by force and get out of here."

"I'll do that. Thank you."

The door behind me opened with a hiss. I began to panic as Phoebus walked to the doorway and saw me.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"I was just taking a walk," I replied, "I swear!"

After a moment Phoebus said, "May I please go in?"

I quickly moved out of Phoebus's way and he went into the room. He turned around and said, "You can come inside if you want."

I slipped inside. The only things in the room were a hospital bed and several machines, I guessed to monitor vitals.

Phoebus's sister was pale and her hair was silver. Phoebus sat down beside her and grabbed her hand.

"Hey Rachel," he whispered, "It's great to see you again. Pegasus says that he'll get you out of here and to a real hospital soon."

I looked around the room and absentmindedly put my hand on one of the machines. I felt a surge of energy and jerked my hand away.

"That power! It felt just like when he summoned Grixace."

I inched my way to the door and said, "I'll be going now. Good luck tomorrow."

"I wish you good luck as well," Phoebus replied.

I stepped onto the duel field, duel gazer and duel pad active. Phoebus was on the other side, ready to duel as well. Katrina and Camellia were at the observation deck.

"Go James!" Katrina called out. Camellia somehow managed to look emotionless.

"Welcome to the final match of the second duelist Kingdom is about to begin," Rugby announced, "For this match, both duelists will start with eight thousand life points. It has been decided that Mr. Hyde will go first."

James: 8000

Phoebus: 8000

"I draw," Phoebus called out, "I set a monster and a card and end my turn."

I drew, "I summon Zecora (ATK 1700)."

The zebra appeared and rhymed, "So this is the duelists of whom the others speak. If they're right, in order to beat him you must be at your peak."

"Thanks Zecora. I now activate Poison Joke. Since Zecora is on the field, only your monsters are affected. Zecora, attack that face-down!"

Zecora pulled out her bamboo staff and beat the face-down. I expected Morphing Jar, but it was Witch of the Black Forest."

"Why are you using that?" I yelled.

"Pegasus wished for me to use this deck," he replied as he pulled a monster out of his deck, "That's how I was able to get to see Rachel."

I placed a card on my disk, "I set a card and end my turn."

Phoebus drew, "I activate Lightning Vortex. I discard the Magician of Faith I drew to destroy Zecora." Lightning rained down from the sky and destroyed Zecora. "I banish Witch of the Black Forest and Magician of Faith to summon Chaos Sorcerer (ATK 2300-1800). I activate Dust Tornado to destroy the Poison Joke (ATK 1800-2300). Attack with Chaos Burst!"

Chaos Sorcerer created a ball of black energy in its hand and threw it at me. I was thrown back a few feet.

James: 8000-5700

"I'll end my turn."

I stood up and drew, "I activate Call of the Cutie to summon Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetiebelle (DEF 800x3). I tribute Scootaloo to summon Shining Armor (ATK 2400). Now I activate the Crystal Empire. Say goodbye to Chaos Sorcerer."

As the Crystal Empire formed Chaos Sorcerer fell to his knees. Then he exploded.

"Shining Armor, attack Phoebus directly!"

Phoebus managed to block the attack with his duel disk.

Phoebus: 8000-5600

"I'll end my turn."

Phoebus drew, "I activate the field spell Magical Citadel of Endymion." The Empire turned into the inside of a castle. Out the window we could see buildings and an energy barrier. "I now activate Reload (SC 1) to shuffle my hand back into my deck and redraw.I activate Pot of Greed (SC 2) to draw two cards. Now I summon Rapid-Fire Magician (ATK 1600). I activate Swords of Revealing Light (SC 3). And thanks to my Magician, you take four hundred points of damage." The Magician materialized a ball of energy and launched it at me using one of its ball scoop things.

James: 5700-5300

"I end my turn."

I drew, "I summon Fluttershy (ATK 1200)." The butter yellow Pegasus appeared and hid behind Shining Armor. "Now I activate the spell, Element of Kindness. During the end of each of my turns that I don't attack, the spell gains a Kindness Counter and Fluttershy gains 1000 points for each one. I'll end my turn (KC 1) (ATK 1200-2200)."

Phoebus drew, "I tribute Rapid-Fire Magician to summon Chaos Command Magician (ATK 2400)."

"Why is it a Chaos monster?" I asked, "It has nothing to do with dark monsters."

Phoebus shrugged, "I have no idea, but I can use it to destroy Fluttershy."

"I use the effect of Shining Armor to prevent your attack."

"My Magician's effect can negate your unicorn's." The Magician threw an orb of golden energy at Fluttershy. She was hurt, but wasn't destroyed.

James: 5300-5100

"Fluttershy can't be destroyed by battle."

"I end my turn."

I drew, "I'm not letting you get away with hurting Fluttershy. I tribute her, along with my remaining Cutie Mark Crusaders to summon Princess Luna (ATK 3000). I use Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your Swords. Luna, attack Chaos Command Magician."

Phoebus: 5600-5000

"Shining Armor, attack!"

Phoebus: 5000-2600

"I end my turn."

Phoebus drew, "I set a monster and end my turn."

I drew, "Luna, attack the face-down." It was Apprentice Magician.

"I get to set a monster."

"Then I attack the face-down."

It was Old Vindictive Magician. Luna exploded into hologram shards.

"I'll end my turn."

Phoebus drew, "I activate Monster Reborn (SC 4) to bring back Chaos Sorcerer (ATK 2300). I use his effect to banish Shining Armor and end my turn."

I drew, "I set a monster and end my turn."

Phoebus drew, "I set a card and attack." The monster was Rainbow Dash. "I end my turn."

I drew, "I activate my face-down Harmony Reborn to bring Fluttershy back (DEF 100).

Phoebus drew, "I activate Call of the Haunted to bring back my Chaos Command Magician (ATK 2400). I activate Graceful Charity (SC 5). I draw three and discard two. Now I summon I banish the second Magician of Faith and an Old Vindictive Magician from my graveyard to summon a second Chaos Sorcerer. My first Sorcerer will banish your Fluttershy, then both of my other magicians will attack you directly."

I was thrown by the combined attacks.

James: 5100-400

"Now James," Phoebus said, "Here is the monster of darkness that I possess. I overlay my three monsters and xyz summon Grixace, Emperor of Darkness (ATK 2900)! I now use his effect to prevent the activation of all spells and traps until my next standby phase. Of course, this also destroys all spells and traps currently on the field."

Grixace's dark magic began to erode the field around us. Eventually, the entire Citadel crumbled.

"I end my turn."

I drew, "I summon Twilight Sparkle (ATK 1700). I set a card and end my turn."

Phoebus drew and I quickly called out, "I activate my face-down spell, Ascension! I tribute Twilight so that she may achieve her true destiny. Ascend, Princess Twilight Sparkle (ATK 2800)."

"That won't stop me!" Phoebus called out, "Grixace, attack with Dark Magic Nova!"

Grixace shot a stream of dark magic from his staff. Twilight put up a shield, but it cracked and the spell broke through.

James: 400-300

"I end my turn. Perhaps Pegasus was wrong. Maybe you aren't the one he was looking for."

"Why was he looking for me?" I asked.

"I'm not sure. All I know is that he wants your deck."

I looked up Pegasus. Due to his mask I couldn't see any facial expressions.

"Please," I prayed under my breath, "Let me draw the right card."

I placed my fingers on my deck and drew, "I activate Rainbow Transformation!" Twilight flew out of my graveyard and a rainbow spiraled around her. "I can banish Princess Twilight from my graveyard to increase her power once more. I summon Rainbow Twilight, Princess of Friendship (ATK 3000)." Twilight disappeared in a ball of light. It exploded, revealing her in her rainbow form.

"I use the effect of Twilight to drain your dark monster of all its power. Go, Rainbow Drain!" Ghostly version of all of Twilight's friends appeared behind her. Together, they fired a beam of rainbow energy at Grixace, dispersing his dark energy and depleting his attack points (ATK 2900-0).

"Twilight, end this with Rainbow Infinity!"

Twilight fired a blast of rainbow energy and destroyed Grixace.

Phoebus: 2600-0

I pulled off my duel gazer and walked over to Phoebus. I held out my hand and said, "Good game."

"You are a strange one James Yuzik," Phoebus replied, shaking my hand, "If you manage to beat Pegasus and if my sister gets better, I want a rematch."

I grinned, "We need to break this tie we've got going on."

I look towards Pegasus and call out, "It's time to duel!"
