Hello, my lovely readers. Here's the update. Happy TVD Thursday is back on. On with the show…

Chapter 9: Sharing

Damon was angry at his team, at himself and mostly at Elena's stupid team. They had taken off with Caroline somewhere and he couldn't contact any of them because they had turned their phones off. To make matters worse, Kol and Rebekah could not seem to stop arguing while Enzo encouraged them. Yeah, that was helping things. Not really! If they didn't work together and find Blondie soon, Damon was going to lose his cool and then they would all regret it.

"Why don't we try the Grill?" Stefan suggested. Damon's saving grace was his level headed brother who was keeping his cool during this possible crisis. "Maybe they just went to get some drinks. Elena might have mentioned that if Caroline is drunk enough she's liable to say anything. Or maybe Caroline went to the Grill to talk to Matt about something."

"Sure," Enzo piped up. "Caroline is at the Grill and Klaus is at Disneyland in those spinning cup things."

"I always tried the spinning cup things while I was draining someone. I think it would be one hell of an experience. Let's go to Orlando," Kol said, getting to his feet and heading out of the Boarding House when Rebekah sped in front of him and folded her arms over her chest.

"We are not going to bloody Florida. We're going to stay here until we figure out where Caroline bloody Forbes is," Rebekah shouted into Kol's face as he sighed heavily.

"Did I mention yet how much I like her?" Enzo asked with wide grin.

Damon gritted his teeth. "As much as it pains me to say this, Stefan might have a point. Caroline could be at the Grill. And if she isn't then I'll just grab the football player and use him as bait until Elena tells me what the hell they did with Caroline."

"You're not going to hurt Matt," Rebekah snarled, showing Damon her fangs and he smirked back at her.

"Relax, honey, I'm just going to talk to him. Now, if anyone hurts him it will be," Damon pointed at Enzo who wiggled his fingers in a wave at Rebekah with raised eyebrows and a smile. "Or him," Damon pointed at Kol who cheered up instantly. "Either way you look at it, I'm not the bad guy. But I'm thinking that instead of me doing the talking then maybe you might want to since you used to," Damon started to gyrate his hips and Rebekah rolled her eyes.

"You are vulgar," Rebekah said with a scoff.

Kol slid an arm around her shoulder. "I'm sure that he was with you, darling. Now, that we're moving away from topics such as who in this room my sister has not been a bed mate with," he held up his hand and grinned when Enzo did as well leaving Stefan and Damon to look at the walls around them, he continued. "I'm sure that after we torture young Matt with the sound of my sister's whining for about ten minutes then we shall have all the information that we could possibly need.

"Get off of me, you wanker," Rebekah snarled, shoving Kol away. He laughed at her as she strode toward the front door. "Well, are you lot coming or not?" She snapped with her typical air of impatience.

Damon followed the other vampires out to the car and then had a thought. Pulling out his phone, he made a call as he pulled out his car keys while Rebekah and Kol argued about who had called shotgun first. "Stefan, get in the passenger seat," Damon ordered his brother while Kol and Rebekah stopped in the middle of a game of rock, paper scissors.

"Hey," Kol protested. "I was about to beat Bekah at this senseless human game."

"Too bad," Damon grunted as he climbed into the driver's seat and then began to speak when someone answered. "Hey, Liz. I'm going to the Grill for lunch. How would you like to meet me there?"

Liz sighed. "I would, Damon, but I have a load of paper work to fill out."

Damon chuckled. "Ah, the work of the good Sheriff of our little town goes with so little appreciation. I tell you, it's a shame, really. So, why don't you just play hookey with me. It will only be an hour. The paper work will still be there when you get back," Damon waited as Liz debated silently.

"I suppose that I could take an hour," Liz said.

"Great, I'll see you soon, Bye," Damon called cheerfully and hung up before she could say that she had changed her mind.

"Good job, mate, enlisting the mommy," Kol called and Rebekah rolled her eyes.

"I suppose you're not going to torture the information out of her," Rebekah muttered snidely as she gave Damon a pointed look from her seat behind him.

"Let me see, do I want to torture the person who is closest to one of the two people that this game is about?" Damon snapped back while rubbing his chin. "I'm thinking, NO!"

"It's perfectly okay to torture Matt though because he's not your friend," Rebekah spat back at him as Damon rolled his eyes and pulled into the Mystic Grill parking lot.

"The answer to that and many other of your questions is a resounding, YES. Why you ask me. Because it's number one, fun. Number two, we always torture Matt. It's like torturing Jeremy or Tyler. It's fun. And three, because if you're not part of the solution, say it with me people."

"You're part of the problem," Kol, Stefan and Enzo chorused as Rebekah gave them a sour look.

"Ha ha ha," Rebekah replied drily before she headed into the Grill in front of her teammates. She made a bee line for Matt who was wiping the bar top and looked both surprised and happy to see the Original sister. "Hello, Matt," she greeted him as she took a seat at the bar and Damon smirked as the football played grinned at her like a fool. Damon walked to the end of the bar and sat with Stefan and his other teammates.

Kol leaned over the bar top and grabbed a bottle of whiskey. "Alright. What shall we do while my sister is having eye shagging with the useless one and you're having it off with the mum?" He cocked an eyebrow at Damon while stretching an arm over the counter to grab a glass.

"I'm not 'having it off' with nor will I ever do that with Liz," Damon said, giving Kol a disgusted look.

"Isn't that your thing? You shag the mother then the daughters. Or is it the other way? A lovely woman that told me she was Elena's mother said you were once quite the good night," Kol said with a wide grin as Damon glared at him.

"That was the old me," Damon snapped, reaching over the counter, he grabbed a glass and then yanked the bottle away from Kol.

"Ah, I see. I've touched a hard spot. Excuse the pun. But I must say that I've found the women are more likely to tell you what you want to know if you're not wearing clothes," Kol pointed out and Damon's face wrinkled as Stefan grabbed his glass and downed a shot.

"That is an image that I never needed," Stefan said with a grimace.

"And you wanted the image of the love of your life in the sack with your brother?" Kol questioned him and then it was Stefan's turn to glare.

"I didn't have it until now. Thank you for that," Stefan groaned as he poured himself a second and third shot.

"I'm always happy to make someone's day all the more spectacular," Kol retorted with a smirk.

Getting up when he saw Liz walk in the door, Damon look at the other three vampires. "Why don't you all play some drinking games? Stefan's had years to perfect his." Not paying attention to the remarks that Kol and Enzo made, Damon made his way toward Liz who was staring at Kol with a look of horror.

"Damon, is that Kol Mikaelson at the bar?" Liz asked as she searched his eyes for the answer.

Damon's eyes flicked toward Kol who was getting up and moving toward the dart board. Damon shrugged as if the newly resurrected Original vampire was an everyday occurrence. "Yeah. But it's being handled. Stef's keeping a close eye on him to make sure that he doesn't hurt anyone," Damon informed the Sherriff as they went to sit down at a booth. Liz did not look so sure as Kol closed his eyes and threw a dart.

"If you say so," she said and then turned to him. "Now, why don't you tell me why it is that you really wanted me to come here today?" Liz said slowly with a Sheriffy look and Damon grinned. Usually she didn't have a clue but every once in a while she reminded him why she was in her position of law enforcement.

"Can't a friend ask another friend to lunch," Damon inquired with a grin. For a moment he thought about Kol's comments and it took an effort to not cringe. Being like that with Liz would be like Stefan and Caroline. It just made Damon shiver. Nope. Not going to happen. You just didn't go there with your best friend. Or at least he wasn't going to.

"No, not you, Damon. You're up to something," Liz replied with a smile.

Damon sighed and sat back in his seat. "You're right. You caught me red handed. I'm trying to make this surprise for Caroline that is going to make this a truly happy year for her but I can't seem to find her today. So, I was thinking that you could give her a call and see if you could find her."

"Sure. Why didn't you say so in the first place?" Liz shook her head with a relieved smile.

"How else was I supposed to get you away from your desk? You work too much and deserve to take a break once in a while. You know what? You and Caroline should go on a vacation. I can even buy you tickets," Damon said like this was the first time that he had thought of it.

Liz' jaw dropped as she stared at Damon. "No, Damon, that's too much. And I can't get up and leave town just like that," she protested and Damon held up both his hands.

"No, I think that you really should take some time off. Think of it this way, when you're all rested then you can come back and work at a one hundred and fifty percent, because, and I did not want to be the one to point this out, but you've been slipping a little."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Liz asked, frowning as she gave Damon a hard look as he leaned over the table.

"The fact that this is the first time that you noticed that Kol is in town and Rebekah," he nodded in Rebekah's direction have both been here for about two weeks, sounds a little bit like you're stretching yourself too thin."

Liz' eyes widened as she took in Rebekah and then looked at Damon. "Maybe you're right," she began when he cut her off.

Sitting back, Damon grinned. "Of course I'm right. This will be good for you and it will be good for Caroline. Trust me. Now, you were about to call your darling daughter, right?"

Shaking her head, Liz pulled out her phone and dialed Caroline's number while Damon looked to find Stefan looking at him. Damon grinned back at his brother who nodded before throwing a dart and dodging it in Enzo's hand who was pulling down one of this own. The two then began to argue as Liz tapped her fingers on the table top. "She's not picking up," she said and hung up. "I wonder what's going on. Should I be worried that something happened to her?"

Damon shook his head, his lips turning downward as he flicked his eyes toward Kol. "Nope. I'm sure she's around here somewhere. I will personally make it my job today to track her down and you will get a phone call by tonight at the latest."

"Alright," Liz replied as she picked up her menu.

While Liz and Damon were eating he was listening to Rebekah at the bar asking Matt if he possibly knew where Caroline might be. Of course the clueless football brain said he had no idea. If he weren't Elena's best friend he would be pushing up daisies years ago. Finishing his meal, Damon said good-bye to Liz and got up. Walking over to the bar, he leaned over and grinned at Matt. "Hey there, Matt. Here's the thing, we think Elena has Caroline and we want her. So, you have two choices, call Elena and ask her to bring Caroline to us or option B is that I hand you over to Kol who will convince you to. And trust me, you won't like option B. Personal experience speaking here."

"What do you want Caroline for?" Matt asked, folding his arms over his chest. He seemed to think this was something they were going to argue about. Grabbing the hand that had Matt's Gilbert "bring you back from the dead" ring, Damon yanked it off the boy's hand. "Hey!" Matt cried out when Rebekah yanked his vervain necklace off.

"Matt, I want you to call Elena," Rebekah ordered with a soothing voice that Damon could not believe she was capable of using.

"Why?" Matt questioned Rebekah.

Damon groaned. "I think that we're going with option B," he said and waved for Kol who appeared by his side.

"No, you are not," Rebekah hissed. "Or did you forget that there are people here and we'll be exposed."

"Don't be such a downer," Enzo called. "We can eat the others. I'm feeling a wee bit peckish myself. What about you, Stefan the Saintly?"

"I've got to side with Rebekah on this one," Stefan said, folding his arms and glaring at Enzo.

"Oh, I hate a man who can't handle his drink," Kol said with a sigh. "Oh, well, then I guess that I'll just have to do this." Before anyone could protest, Kol snapped Stefan's neck. Grabbing him by the shoulders, he began to half carry Stefan toward the back exit. "Truly, Damon, I believe that your brother had a drinking problem. What a shame?"

Damon groaned as he followed Kol. "Rebekah, bring Matt. And I'm not saying this twice."

"Matt, please, come with me," Rebekah called and soon they were standing in the alley way behind the Grill. "Matt, I need you to call Elena or Kol is going to kill someone. Please!" she said, looking at Stefan who Kol was giving a good shake.

"Yes, he could be deader," Kol pointed out and Damon growled.

"Okay," Matt said, pulling out his phone he called Elena. "Hey, Lena, It's me. Ummm… Kol has me and Stefan and he says he's going to kill one of us if…." Matt looked at Rebekah when Kol grabbed his phone.

"Hello, darling. I have my sister's leftovers and your former boy toy. I will kill them both if you don't bring me Caroline," Kol stated with a chuckle. "It is so good to be back."

"You're not going to kill them, Kol. Stefan is on your team," Elena said evenly with a laugh.

"But Matty is not and Damon has his Founder's ring," Kol replied and Elena growled.

"No, he doesn't. He wouldn't go that far," Elena protested.

"Yeah, I did and I would," Damon called and then winced when Elena gasped.

"Damon, how could you? What is wrong with you?" Elena shouted into the phone.

"Wounded heart. Wounded pride. The desire to make you miserable," Enzo began to list.

"Just bring us Caroline in the next hour or Matty doesn't get to see another morning. We'll be awaiting your arrival at the Grill," Kol snapped. He hung up with a satisfied smirk.

They went back into the Grill and played another game of darts until Elena arrived with her little group and a confused looking Caroline. "Hey, guys." Caroline greeted the group. "What's going on?"

"Oh, nothing. Want to play darts?" Damon inquired. "It looks like Stefan is beating me."

"Okay," Caroline replied with a giggle as she looked around and Damon walked over to a pissed looking Elena.

"Game on, honey," Damon said as Elena glared back at him as he strode past her and toward a booth. He needed a drink and to not think about what the hell was going on. Then Katherine slid in across from him and he got up to leave when she slammed her hand down on his thigh, forcing him to sit for the time being while she held him in place.

"I like that little game move with Matty Blue eyes and I want to switch teams," Katherine stated and Damon rolled his eyes. "I like to be on the winning side."

"What's in it for me?" Damon retorted.

"Other than me," Katherine asked with a grin as her hand trailed higher. "I have a witch. Don't you want to see what would happen if Caroline was under the effects of a little truth spell?"

Damon's eyebrows shot upward. "I'm listening," he said as Katherine continued to talk.

Sometime in the next century we will see Klaroline in this story. I promise it will be soon.

Answers to Reviews:

MsDreamer93: There was more Kol, Damon and a little bit of Katherine but we'll see more of her soon. I'm looking forward to writing about the party when Caroline makes her grand entrance as the teams will be converging sometime soon and then there will be utter chaos. I think you're right, Genevieve would make a great anti-Klaroline person. I'm thinking that Tyler might join her… Other than that I'm not too sure… We might see some characters playing both sides.

Doppleganger Princess: Thank you…

OMG: Thank you. That was an awesome review to read.

JuseaPeterson: I'm happy you enjoyed Team Haylijcel or Elileycel or Marhayjah. Those are some wacky shipper names. Back to the drawing board. I think that afterward when Damon announces that someone has to be traded for Kat that Kol will run to NOLA which will cause chaos and that Marcel will be able to sway Jovina to join him. I think that Genevieve will definitely be team Anti-Klaroline probably with Tyler because I just don't see him shipping Klaroline even if he and Caroline could become friends again. Poor Elijah and Marcel. They know so little about Caroline but they're trying. They're men who focus on details.

Vamptragic: I know. I didn't like Hayley when she was on TVD but I think that they did a good job of developing her and that's funny because I was all ready to keep disliking her. If she and Klaus got together I don't believe that it would last because they're too much alike in a world where opposites attract which is why I love Haylijah because they couldn't be more like day and night just like Care and Klaus. It's fun to have Klaus and Caroline not having a clue but at some point they'll become suspicious. That is going to be fun to write about.

Peace,

Jessica
