Summary: Infatuation- Definition: an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone or something. A very quick and short drabble that I believe relays Freed and Laxus status quite well.
Infatuation. That's what they called it.
Infatuation- Definition: an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone or something.
Freed's feelings were never short-lived for Laxus though. Indeed, at first, Freed had only found admiration for the dragon-slayer but as their time together grew so did the development of something stronger.
What Freed felt for Laxus was not infatuation; it was pure, strong-willed love. These feelings did not go unreciprocated either for the taller of two was not ashamed in spending personal time with the enchanting mage.
Their feelings were mutual, as clear as day to each other, as sparkling as water to their fellow teammates. The rest of the guild may not have seen this, but at the end of each day, they shared the same home. Shared the same living space and room. Shared the same comfort and habitat.
Because, while Laxus stood brave, he still desired to cook with a familiar face, to lay with a familiar face.
If this were only infatuation, then what was love?
Was love not the desire to protect?
Was infatuation the need to stay close to your partner at all times?
If so, love and infatuation must have a very thin line.
To the open eye, one would only see the actions of Freed. Infatuation, they say. A crush that will go away.
Though, with an eye of the trained, it would be obvious to find the relation in Laxus feelings himself.
He allowed the rune mage free range with nothing but trust. Held Freed on a pedestal that must not fall without him. Would they dare tell Laxus it was infatuation?
No.
What the two had was quite far from only infatuation.
