Episode 10: Selphie Tilmitt Must Die!
Title based on the movie John Tucker Must Die!
Hello everyone! A string of new chapters are coming back! It's weird how this story is six years old and only in ten chapters no less. Luckily for you guys, I finally managed to hit the double digits in terms for the first time since Secret Agent Kairi, which was a long time ago. It feels good to have come this far.
Genre: Romance/Humor
Time had passed since the discussion about the actors' contracts and the future of the show. Since the last two episodes were currently being written as they filmed, Namine managed to take part in the writing process for them. Whenever she didn't have to film any scenes, she took the time to go to the writers' room to throw out ideas, review some of the scenes, and whether it would be satisfying to viewers and fans alike. That meant more work was added to her plate. In order to help shape the future of the unfinished episodes, she was handed down the scripts of the remaining episodes. The season finale was going to be two hours as it was going to be the big one hundredth episode of the series. A milestone for any television show on the air and she couldn't believe she was going to be part of such an achievement. At this point, she was currently filming her first ever scene with Olette at Destiny Islands High School. She was delighted to finally to film other scenes that didn't involve Roxas or Sora.
Namine threw away her lunch and turned around when she accidentally bumped into Olette where the girl groaned and covered her breasts with both hands. "Oh my god! I am so sorry!" Namine panicked. "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine. It was my—hey…" Olette stopped mid-sentence when she recognized the blonde girl. "You're that girl I saw dancing with my best friend at prom."
"Uh yeah? I'm Namine. Are you one of Sora's friends?"
"I am. My name's Olette. I've been friends with him since middle school."
"That explains so much. I only met him this semester because of Roxas."
"You know both of them?"
"I'm stuck with Roxas because of a stupid school project, but I hang with Sora by choice."
"What about you? Don't you have other friends?"
"Not really. I don't mind being a lone wolf." All of sudden, Olette started to gag as she felt something was coming up her throat and she was right. She immediately ran out of the cafeteria and Namine followed to see what was wrong. The brunette bursted into the bathroom and went into the nearest stall to throw up. She took a piece of toilet paper to wipe her mouth as she threw up more. "How far are you?" The question shocked her as she looked at Namine.
"How did you—?"
"I know our cafeteria food sucks, but not to the point of food poisoning. Plus, I remembered when I bumped into you, you were holding onto your breasts, which probably means they're sensitive right now. Your barf made me want to ask about your pregnancy."
"Very perceptive of you."
"Does your boyfriend know?"
"No. I don't know how to tell him when it was only our first time."
"At least it didn't happen at prom. That would be very cliché," Namine laughed.
"It was in December… at the winter ball." Her answer caused Namine to stop laughing.
"Oh… I'm sorry I laughed." Olette got up from the toilet, flushed it, and went to the sink to wash herself up before heading back into the halls. "Look, I know it's not my business, but the sooner you tell him, the easier it'll get. Hiding something this big for too long can lead to dire consequences especially when you're gonna start showing."
"I don't even know if I want the baby."
"Please don't tell me you support abortion."
"What?! God, no. That's equivalent to killing someone." A small pause ensued between the two since they were the only ones in the bathroom, which was a good thing because the last thing Olette wanted was breaking news about her being pregnant with Hayner's child.
"Who else knows?"
"At this moment, you and me. Not even my friends know."
"Really?"
"Everyone seems to be busy with their own problems lately."
"That doesn't mean yours isn't just as important as theirs. Can I ask you something though?"
"Sure."
"What were Sora, Roxas, and Kairi like before? I only got the chance to hear for what Roxas and Kairi did, but that's all. I ask him to tell me more and he doesn't want to. I respect his decision, but deep down, I want to know because I can't believe such people would hurt him like that."
"They used to be close. The three of them and have gone through a lot of things together."
"So why ruin it all? For love? Ugh, it makes me sick just thinking about it."
"It's more complicated than that Namine. Sora and Roxas used to hate each other and when he saved Roxas from his abusive father, they became close. Sora and Kairi have known each other since kindergarten, so they know each other pretty well. They were the couple to be and faced many bumps along the way, but time just seemed to make the two get kind of bored with each other. Even I saw it and Sora did his best to keep it going, but Kairi kept on running to Roxas as some sort of rock. That's when he started to develop feelings for her. Trust me, I'm getting tired of their love triangle too."
"Where do you stand in all of this?"
"Honestly, I'd say Sora," Olette answered with no hesitation. "But I've known Kairi and Roxas just as long as him. I want to forgive them, but I can't seem to unless they give me a reason. You see, we were there when we found out the truth too."
"I don't know if I want to be part of this crazy love story."
"You kind of are already." Namine groaned because Olette was right.
"I just had to bump into Roxas that one day. I guess Mr. Popular was trouble after all, but I'm glad to have met Sora."
"How is he doing?" Namine knew the brunette was referring to his health condition.
"He said he's on a steady recovery ever since he has been going to those meetings. You know, the one where you sit in circle with other people like you and talk about your issues. It's been doing good for him, being with others that understand his situation."
"You should go with him one day."
"He offered me today, but I had to deny it. I have to work on my stupid partner project with Roxas."
"It's good to know someone's looking out for him. I was, but this," she stopped, referring to the baby growing inside her. "Happened. I can tell he has confided in you for comfort. You may be the one thing that's not complicated enough for him to deal with."
"Cut!" the director shouted. "That's all we needed now!" The crew around the girls started to disperse and the two walked out of the school bathroom. The whole cast was midway in filming episode nineteen titled, "I Don't Want to Love Somebody Else," and the name spoke for itself. It focused primarily on Sora acknowledging his growing feelings for Namine, but he denies it because he's afraid to get hurt again, while he tries to figure out what was going on with Pence since he's been acting paranoid.
"So was it nice to throw up in that toilet?" Namine joked, knowing how uncomfortable Olette looked, laying on the bathroom floor, and it was not because of her fake barf. It was because of the smell of the whole place in general, including the toilet.
"Shut up," Olette laughed. "I thought I was really going to barf in there because of that horrendous smell. People really need to flush the toilets in there. It disturbs me that people don't take the second to press the lever to flush."
"Gonna enjoy carrying a fake baby bump next season?"
"Heck no! I heard those things hurt!" It was true. From what Namine learned, actresses that film pregnant scenes always wore heavy belly bump bags that imitate an actual pregnancy in terms of the size and weight of it, depending how long it has been. "And I don't want to keep on eating food either!" Another fun fact Namine learned. When actors normally film scenes involving food that they have to eat, they would sometimes spit it out. If there have been numerous takes to film one scene, they'll eventually get sick of it or have already consume as much as the actual meal even if it was just one bite of a cake for a scene. "How's your slave doing?"
"Oh Roxas? The usual where he comes to my house and I make him do things he doesn't want to do. You know, the normal stuff," Namine laughed deeply in a villainous tone. "But for real, I'm using this opportunity to make him a better person."
"How?"
"By training him to do things that he should do on his own rather than let someone else do it."
"I see. He does normally have people at home helping around, but he loves them like family."
"Yeah, but it's nice to have somebody cleaning my room, the kitchen, and other places."
"Namine, you're not using him to get out of your chores are you?"
"Whhatt?" Namine sang in denial. "Olette, I can't believe you'd accuse me of such tyranny. I would never do that to Roxas."
"Mhm. Whatever you say. Let me just have it out there that he likes spending time with you ya know."
"I like having him around too. I'll stop this whole slave thing when we finish the season."
"So he's gonna suffer for two more months huh?"
"Yep!" Namine cheered. "I wonder what I should make him do next? It is my turn to do the dishes…"
Moments later
"You know, you're getting better at this," Namine mentioned to Roxas as she helped picked off the dirty dishes from the table and gave it to him. "Maybe one day you'll go home and clean the kitchen naturally without someone helping you."
"My hands are starting to look all pruney," he playfully pouted. "I'm becoming an old person!"
"Now Cinderella, it is not nice to complain about such petty things."
"You're so—."
"Mean? Oh yeah. I can be mean or devilishly wicked!" Namine once again made a small maniacal laugh, but shortly started to choke on it and ended up coughing. "My reign won't end just yet, but after this, we can have some apple pie. I made some earlier and left it in the fridge as a treat."
"How thoughtful. Is all of it for me?" he asked happily.
"No, it's all for me," Larxene came in, opening up the fridge.
"And here is my sister taking things that don't belong to her," Namine quipped. "As always."
"Maybe next time you should label your—." Larxene stopped when she noticed there was a small note on the apple pie that read: Namine and Roxas' food! Don't eat this Larxene! :P "Food… Ugh." She closed the fridge door and opened the freezer door next to it. "I'll just grab some sea salt ice cream then!" With that, she took the whole carton of it and left with a spoon in her hands.
"See what I mean Roxas."
"She's not that bad," Roxas weakly laughed off weakly. "It could be worse."
"You're right. It could be." Namine went to the fridge to grab the pie and a thought popped into her head. "Hey, random question, but what's it like filming kiss scenes?" The question raised Roxas' eyebrow. "You and Sora have kissed Kairi like a billion gazillion times. Isn't that kind of awkward for all of you?"
"It's um, pretty normal even though we're all friends. At first it was weird because we were so young at the time, but we got used to it, especially when it got intimate."
"Really? I would feel weird kissing some other person I'm work with; pretending to be in love. No wait, I don't even know how that feels like either."
"I'm sensing someone hasn't had their first kiss." Namine's cheeks immediately turned a soft pink at the sentence.
"H-hey! I have! I receive tons of kisses!"
"Cheeks don't count," he smirked. "No matter how pink and adorable they look on you." It was obvious he was teasing her now. "I always wanted to be someone's first kiss. Can I be yours then?"
"Now you're just being awful to me."
"Kairi was my first kiss."
"Isn't that nice to know?" Namine bluntly put it. "Let me just make a whole montage of your moments together and send it to all the fan sites! And put a nice little note saying your whole relationship is all for media play."
"Now you know you can't do that."
"Oh, how I wish I could, but I don't have the time and dedication. I'm too lazy."
"Why do you hate it so much?"
"Uhh because you're basically lying to your fans who have this image of who you are because that's the person you portray both on the show and in real life. Sure your guys' personalities are nice, humble, and loving, though Kairi is fifty-fifty with me, you need to know lying to your fans isn't good."
"That means I won't be getting as much as gifts from them…" Roxas whispered to himself.
"Say what now?"
"Nothing!" It was a good thing she didn't truly hear him or she would possibly lecture him. "Alright, let's say we did have a chance to 'break up' in a sense, how would we do it?"
"Simple. We announce you guys had a falling out that lead to your breakup. Then we'll bury it with a bigger scandal, so everyone will be paying more attention to that than your own."
"And exactly what 'bigger scandal' would that be?"
"I don't know what that is, but maybe I'll think of something. With the internet on the rise more than ever before, maybe we can use that to our advantage. How 'bout we just say you cheated on her?"
"Thanks… because that is the image I want to portray to everyone…" Roxas cheered not so seriously.
"In other news, former Destiny Islands star Selphie Tilmitt has recently broken up with her boyfriend after an altercation." The television audio caught both of the two's attention as Larxene was watching a celebrity news segment. "The two have been dating for about a year now, but it looks like they're calling it quits after it was reported that he cheated on her, but others say it's the other way around."
"Selphie Tilmitt? She's still around here?" Namine asked Roxas.
"She's comes here on and off. Off when she's on working her failed movie career before it even started and on as some sort of vacation getaway. It's amazing her and Kairi haven't bumped into each other since she left the show," he explained.
"I would love to see their cat fight in person." The thought amused Namine. "It would be nice to see Kairi in a different light. Then again, I'm pretty sure it's the same one-sided personality I see, but amped up a hundred times higher."
"She's not all that bad," Roxas defended. "You're still brand new."
"It's been about four months now and I have yet to see that. My sister may have many qualities I dislike, and I have a list of that in case you want to see it, but at least she owns up to most of it. Kairi, Kairi does whatever she wants without thinking much."
"Watch. One day you two will bond over something."
Namine couldn't help, but laugh at his statement. "Pft! When pigs fly!"
~ Our Life is Not a TV Show or Maybe ~
Namine let out a big yawn on the couch she was laying on while turning over the to the next page of the script for the episode they've been filming since yesterday. It was titled, "I Don't Wanna Love Somebody Else." One of the most interesting revelations was when Namine easily found out Olette was pregnant, which the two filmed yesterday too. What is the plot? To simply put it, Sora denies his growing feelings for Namine to avoid getting hurt again as he goes to his anonymous meetings as part of his therapy. In the midst, he tries to figure out what Pence is trying to hide. Roxas grows a bit jealous of her growing friendship with Sora, but doesn't want get involved because it would only worsen his strained relationship with him. The two later get into another argument about it while they work on their school project. Okay, maybe it wasn't simple, but the main plot points happen in that very episode.
"Oh my god! I can't believe that son of a bitch!" Kairi shouted as she busted inside the trailer door with Olette.
"Uh oh. This doesn't sound good," Namine said, putting her script down. "I should bust out the popcorn like do I with forums and the comment section these days."
"Shut up Namine! I have a bigger problem to deal with!" the teen actress shouted, taking a seat on the same couch as the blonde, but on the other end. Olette took a seat between the two.
"So what is it? Did someone question her ego?" Namine bluntly asked.
"No. Something far worse." There was a small pause and Namine was wondering why because it seemed unnecessary. "She bumped into Selphie. At the mall during our break."
Namine let out a small giggle. "What? Fight over shoes?"
"That evil girl threw a heel at me!" Kairi let out. "And the heel got pinned on the wall next to my face!"
"Oh my god, you girls did. I'm sure that'll be making headlines." It would've been nice if this incident happened after announcing Roxas and Kairi's 'break up' because it was more scandalous to catch the public's attention. Too bad she was too late on delivering such news. Then again, she could use it to her advantage.
"It already is!" Kairi immediately grabbed a nearby laptop and typed in the website breaking the news. "Someone managed to record the whole thing. I mean, look at this!" The actress turned the laptop around to show Olette and Namine, and the two were shocked to see it wasn't simply a fight. It was an all-out brawl. There were things being thrown around in the store and some fighting moves that the two never knew existed. All the grunts and screams in the video could be heard throughout the whole thing, including the sound of furniture possibly breaking. "It's a good thing the video shows prove that she started it or I would get cast in a bad light."
"Kairi! This is the worse situation you've been in with her!" Olette scolded her.
"You don't mess with me and shoes. She had it coming. I should've thrown that high heel back where it belongs. Right in her thick skull!"
"It's amazing they didn't arrest you two for damages," Namine said and realized her lunch break was ending soon. "Well, I'm off to film my scenes with Sora at the school, so I'll see you later ladies. Bye Olette and Kairi… good luck with your scandal." From there, Namine left the girls trailer and bumped into Sora on the way out. "Were you waiting for me?"
"I thought it would be nice to walk together to our small little scene that we must film." The two then started to walk side by side toward the school halls.
"So did you hear what happened?"
"No, what?"
"Kairi got into a shoe fight with Selphie."
"She got into a shoe fight again? That girl…"
"Again?" What Sora just said never surprised Namine. Kairi did seem like the girl you don't want to mess with when it came to shoes.
"Anyways, was this recently?"
"Yep. Over our little lunch break. Can you believe such a thing happened in such a short amount of time?"
"Actually, I can," Sora laughed. "Those two always mean trouble."
"Hey, did you guys see the video of Kairi and Selphie's shoe fight?! It's crazy!" Roxas quickly forced himself in between the two with his phone, showing the video right away. "I always knew Kairi could fight, but not like that!"
"I feel like I should go and talk to her," Sora said, sounding concern. "But we have to go to work."
"Kairi can take care of herself," a familiar voice stated. "You should know that more than anyone else Sora."
"Oh no…" Sora said as the three turned around to see Selphie standing right in front of them with in a yellow dress while carrying some shopping bags, wearing bug eyed shades, and a sun hat on the top of her head. It felt unreal for a small second since the wind seemed to take a liking to her. It made her appearance look more cinematic because her hair and dress were waving in the wind. However, they soon saw a crew member busting out a huge fan near her and knew it was too good to be true. "It's been a long time Selphie."
"Sora. Sora, Sora, Sora, you know I always liked you, so you're fine with me. I won't go all crazy on you since I know I can be erratic."
"She acknowledges it…" Namine whispered. "That's surprising for me." In all honesty, she was hoping she never got to meet the one and only Selphie due to the amount of stories she has heard once she joined the show.
"Roxas! Oh how I missed you!" The girl immediately ran to the boy, hugged him, and forced a kiss on his cheek. "We should do some…" Selphie paused for a bit and gave a him seductive stare. "Catching up to do." The poor boy gulped at those words and looked away. While the former cast mate stayed in the same position, she noticed Namine. "So you're my replacement huh? Got to say, what a downgrade." Now that stung. While Kairi did put her down, it wasn't as bad as Selphie who seemed to say whatever she wanted. "And why another blonde? You know what they say: brunettes have more fun, right Sora?"
"I believe the real phrase was, 'Blonds have more fun,' but I guess you'll already knew that," Namine smirked, not liking the girl already, but tried to play it safe.
"Is it really guys?" Selphie seriously asked, which made Namine's jaw drop. "Whatevers."
"What brings you here Selphie?" Sora asked, not wanting her presence, and slightly disturbed how she still clanged onto Roxas. "I heard what happened with you and Kairi not too long, which also happened not too long ago either."
"Why I came to visit my old work place of course. How else am am I supposed to appreciate the place that gave me a running start for my movie career?" she dramatically said.
"You were fired," Sora told her, but was ignored.
"Especially when I met the man of my dreams. Roxas." She sure was living in la-la land and it irritated Namine. "Roxas, you know I love you right?"
"B-but…" Roxas looked at his friends, signaling for help seeing how she has never let go of him.
"You should remember he's dating Kairi," Sora defended, playing into what most outside know.
"Don't take me for a fool Sora. I knew it was sham the day it was announced because I told her he was mine!"
"That's a lie!" Namine unexpectedly shouted, which surprised the three, including herself. The boys looked at her wondering where she was going with the situation. "Roxas and Kairi are dating and I'm valid proof! I am a fan of the show and I would report any false stories to the public because they deserve to know. They're dating so deal with it! You'll never have him!" Roxas and Sora couldn't believe the words she was saying. It certainly shocked them, but more importantly, Namine couldn't believe she said it herself.
"Oh? Then show me proof," Selphie stated.
"Right here!" Kairi yelled, yanking Roxas away from the she-devil, and giving him a full on kiss, which he gladly went along with. They pulled away and Kairi gave a distasteful look to her rival while Olette came onto the scene. "What are you doing here? You got the shoes, so why come back?"
"All for the media attention. Who wouldn't like to see us reunite on set?"
"No one. We're doing just fine without you and Namine here has done a better job in helping around than you ever could." It definitely surprised Namine that Kairi just defended her. Today was definitely full of surprises that Namine thought she was dreaming for a second. She even pinched herself for a small bit to check and she felt the minor pain. The situation was real.
"Kairi. We should just bury the hatchet and become besties," the troubled teen suggested, but everyone knew she didn't meant it.
"Sure, but why not in your skull?" Kairi sneered.
"I'll have a better career than you'll ever will in your entire life!"
"You know, yellow doesn't suite you. A little green with envy and a witch broom should do the trick."
"I'll get the bucket," Namine snared.
"I think it's best you leave now," Olette warned her.
"Fine, but I want something. Think of this as a deal for me to leave."
"What do you want?" Kairi asked.
"I want to set up a double date, which is why I'm here. After our little encounter, it got me thinking and I thought of using my old co-workers for some help. You Kairi can think of this as a way to repair our little image after our shoe fight."
"No, I know you," Kairi replied. "There's more than just that."
"Okay, as you all know, I broke up with my boyfriend."
"I heard it was the other way around," Namine shot back.
"I broke up with him!" she spatted like a little child, but quickly recovered to a calmer mood. "He believes I can't change, so I need my arch enemy to show prove that I can amend my wrong doings. After all, it's been a long time since we last saw each other. People can somewhat believe we grew out of our cattiness."
"Kairi, I don't know about this," Olette wondered, skeptic about the girl's reasoning. "For all we know, it could be a trap."
"Believe what you will, but you know I always say what's on my mind."
"I'm assuming you want Roxas and I to accompany you," Kairi said.
"Good, you're catching on you little wench."
"Whatcha did you call me?" Kairi angrily said about to throw a punch, but Roxas held her back.
"We'll do it!" Roxas agreed. "Just text us the details and we'll be on our way."
"Alrighty then. It was nice seeing you all again. I can feel the nostalgia in the air," Selphie smirked. "It sucks Hayner and Pence aren't here for a happy reunion, but I guess the new, frail looking girl can take their place."
"I have a name."
"Was it Lamaine? Whatever it is, I'm sure you can put some meat on those things you call thighs."
"Why I outta—?!" Namine was about to give the thrash talking actress a piece of her mind, but Roxas too held her back, so now he was holding back the girls who wanted to beat up Selphie.
"Tootles to you. I should be going now. I have other things to attend to." Selphie smiled at the group and whipped her hair. "Later morons." She walked off as if she was a model from the others until a pig unexpectedly flew out an open classroom window and landed on her. Everyone in the area, including the actors, bursted out laughing and took out their phone to take a picture of the moment. It seemed it really wasn't the snob's day today.
"Namine! A pig flew today!" Roxas screamed in excitement and Namine face palmed herself.

Shortly Sora and Namine filmed their scene in the high school, she came busting in the girl's trailer with Sora behind her to see Kairi, Olette, and Roxas close to a laptop. It seemed one of them was uploading the picture of the pig on Selphie. She was still upset what happened earlier. She felt the most personally attacked and had to urge to get back at the snobby actress. It's been a while since she felt like this as it only happened once back at home with the mean girl who thought she was the queen of the sophomores at Twilight High. Now, she felt she had a bit more power and confidence in conducting a plan, but there was one thing she couldn't believe she blurted out. "So Namine… what was that back there about me and Kairi's relationship being real?" Roxas asked her.
"Oh that…" Namine nervously laughed and took a close empty seat and Sora sat next to her.
"Yeah, I thought you didn't approve such a thing," Sora told her. "Always yapping over—."
"Okay guys!" Namine freaked out because she felt was getting verbally attacked again. "Let me explain. I was in the moment. She was getting on my nerves and I just… I just blurted it out like vomit. I hate how I still went along with it. God, somebody shoot me."
"Can I?" Kairi's eyes shined, but she a lightbulb lit above her head. "Hey Namine! This could be it!"
"What is?" the blond asked, not liking where this might be heading.
"We may not see eye-to-eye, but we have a common enemy to bond over. Selphie! You're a smart girl—."
"I am?"
"Sure. And I am a wonderful actress! Together, we can take her down for good! What do you say?" Namine couldn't believe it, but it was true. Roxas was right. They were eventually going to bond over something. She just never thought it would be Kairi's bitch of a rival. "Selphie may not lie much, but she tends to withhold information until it proves to be useful to her, making her very deceptive and manipulative. Trust me, that girl isn't."
"So basically there is more than she's letting on huh? Why doesn't that surprise me?""
"Do it Namine! That way I can have bragging rights of bringing you two closer," Roxas smirked at himself.
"Do that and I'll make sure you'll be cleaning the basement of my house. In the dark!"
"B-but that's where people go to die!"
"You've been watching too much scary movies," Sora told him and had Namine look at him. "Namine, I think it's best you and Kairi team up on this one. Who knows what else she has planned until we figure it out."
"I guess I should follow my instincts and agree to this. I have dealt with something like this before, so I might easily think of something. But I don't know what until we hear the details. All we know it's a double date."
"I know just the thing!" Kairi knew how to start things off and looked at Sora. "Do you still have those wires that we can use to attach ourselves?" He nodded.
"Whoa, there are wires involved now?" Namine asked, wondering what did the two used it for earlier, so she asked about it. "We're not on some covert spy operation."
"You're new to this. I can see that, but we're gonna need more ears and brains. We got to figure out what else she has got up her sleeve to stay two steps ahead of her. And then run her over with the van!"
"Kairi, come back to Earth," Sora told her, seeing her going psychotic.
"If we're doing this, I want to make a deal," Namine bargained.
"Ugh, what do you want?" Kairi groaned. "Fashion tips? Then yes because you need help in that department. Especially that top—."
"You and Roxas must break up." Kairi couldn't help, but gasp. "Don't worry. You don't have to say your relationship was fake to begin with, but at least have some cover story as to why you broke up." Namine knew this was the right opportunity to end the fake story between Roxas and Kairi's relationship. Selphie could be used as collateral damage because the media and the public will be after her because of her troubled history. It was terrible, but after meeting the snobby actress, Namine knew she deserved it.
"What?! But that will affect our show!" Kairi defended and Namine shook her head.
"Trust me on this. It won't and we will have Selphie to thank for that."
"Alright, I'm listening. As long we get back at her, I'll play. How will she play into that?" Namine got up and smiled.
"I'll think of something once Roxas gets the details." Soon enough, everyone heard a text tone as Roxas looked to see it was his phone.
"She says our double date is going to be at this year's carnival. That's by the stadium at this time of the year. She wants us to be there by eight at the latest."
"That girl," Olette scoffed. "Can't she see that we have work. It's amazing we can try to have a social life and work under these strict filming conditions."
"She says April 9," Roxas continued. "Hmm… that's this Friday."
"I see I'm going to have to come up with sooner. How are your guys' schedule for the rest of the day?"
"Roxas and I have to film some scenes at other locations today, so we won't be back till probably seven or eight," Kairi answered.
"And I have to go soon to shoot with my scenes with Pence already," Sora said. "But we should be done before the sun sets since we need the day light. You know how it is when you're constrained to time and the weather here."
"And you and I have more scenes to film together here," Olette said. "You know Hayner will be with us for some of them."
"Yes! I finally get to work with him!" Namine cheered. At the point, the only ones she hadn't filmed a scene with was Kairi and Pence, but it made sense in terms of the writing. However, she knew she was going to film scenes with Kairi by the next episode as she got a chance to read it before her own cast mates. She pondered how it will go because the scenes were going to be tense. However, she remembered how was she going to pull off a certain scene she must film with Roxas later on in the days. Putting those thoughts aside for now, she needed to gather everyone. "Since we have free time around the night as usual, let's all meet up at my place to discuss and collaborate on the plan."
"This is going to be interesting," Kairi smirked. "Well, Roxas and I have to go now. Let's go boy!" Kairi left the trailer and Roxas followed suit. The two were walking to a car that was going to take them to their next filming location.
Elsewhere, Namine and Olette were walking together to get Hayner and saw him come out of the boys just in time. "Hey! You missed it!" Namine called out.
"What? If it's about Kairi and Selphie's shoe fight, I saw it on YouTube earlier," he replied. "We should give her an award for not sending Selphie to the hospital."
"In hindsight, Kairi would be in the hospital if that heel actually hit her," Olette told him.
"Point taken. I feel like there's more that I should know?"
"The She-Devil took a visit on set and let me tell you. She's a piece of work," Namine explained. "She makes Kairi a saint for me."
"I see she couldn't keep away from her old life," Hayner thought. "I never did like her to begin with. She was always throwing herself at me and Roxas. It was nauseating to deal with."
"Then we should tell you we made a deal with the She-Devil," Olette added.
"What did you do? You know that girl is always up to no good."
"We know, but we're conducting a plan to get back at her and to find out what she's really up to," Namine answered.
"What is it?" Hayner raised an eyebrow, curious what his former co-worker asked of them.
"She wants to go on a double date with Roxas and Kairi at the carnival this Friday to prove to her ex-boyfriend that she can change. That's just a bunch of crap. Kairi advised us that she may have something up her sleeve."
"Hold up. You and Kairi are actually working together? Did you guys decide to bury the hatchet?" Namine laughed at his question.
"Bury the hatchet? I wished, but it's not like I was expecting of us to be braiding each other's hair any time soon."
"And you're okay with Roxas going out on a date with her?" Hayner asked. "I thought you liked the guy."
"Wha? What is that supposed to mean?"
"Seriously?" Olette said. "You're going to pretend that you don't know that people always talk about you two constantly hang out with each other. Alone. Even the crew members are gossiping about it. You know, Roxas wanted to see you very badly when we went to Twilight Town."
"He did? That seems very—."
"Romantic?" Olette finished.
"As much as I appreciate the thought, I'm not the kind of girl who likes big, grand gestures. If a guy were to swoon me, I would want it to be nice and simple like a retro pop song. I want you to want me and we all lived happily ever after. Too bad life is not a fairytale or a pop song."
"There was that prom moment," Olette smiled.
"What moment? Are you talking about our dance?"
"Yeah, I even have it on video." Olette pulled up her phone and played it in front of her. Namine brought her phone closer to get a better view and started to form a smile that she never noticed. Olette and Hayner did and looked at each other, knowing she was enjoying it. "You see Namine," she continued, pulling her phone. "Even a video can capture the chemistry you two have."
"One dance. It was one dance," she claimed. "I think we're gonna need more moments than that."
"Acknowledging your feelings, huh Namine," Hayner teased.
"W-what? No!"
"She has him as a slave Hayner," Olette mentioned. "She's probably more into role-play and bondage," she snickered.
"B-bondage?! What are you guys doing to me?!" Namine asked.
"Come on Namine," Hayner grinned. "Don't act like you don't know it."
"I'm a sixteen year old girl. The thing I should be focusing on is my new job these days. That and taking down Selphie." Namine was taken aback by her statement. "Okay maybe this isn't what most girls at my age do, but it's part of my new life and I never thought any romance would be coming my way." Olette and Hayner raised their eyebrows at her. "Alright, so I have fantasize about being with him, but I was being a delusional fan. Can you blame me?"
"Fantasizing about… naughty things?" Hayner continued and it was making Namine red.
"N-no!"
From afar, Selphie was looking at the three of them through her binoculars. She then moved her vision toward Roxas and Kairi who happened to getting in a car. She removed the binoculars from her eyes and tapped her fingers on it. "Let the games begin."
~ Our Life is Not a TV Show or Maybe ~
Sora and Pence arrived at the house not too long ago when the five of them settled inside the living room. Namine was thankful her sister wasn't around. When Kairi meant supplies, she didn't think she had Sora bring in a white board with an easel, markers to write, a life size board cut out of Selphie, pictures of everyone involved, and some spy equipment. It seemed Kairi was dead on serious about all of this. The cast dined on some pizza and drank from soda cups while Kairi and Namine were the ones standing on opposite ends of the board with the rest sitting on the couches and chairs. "Why do you have this?" Namine asked, looking at the cardboard cutout of Selphie. She saw the image has been doodled on numerous times, most likely from Kairi, where the curled up mustache stood out the most since it big and bold.
"I had Sora take it from the prop department," she answered.
"He took it from where? And at this hour?"
"The perks of being me. Now, we are all gather here today because we have the chance to take down this bitch!" Kairi slapped Selphie's cutout with a stick, which made Namine wonder where it came from too. It magically appeared. "She is plotting something and it's our job to figure it out."
"And how do we do that?" Pence asked.
"Simple Pence. Once she mentioned a double date, I knew whatever she was planning, it had to involve with her ex-boyfriend. It was pretty obvious."
"Then we just simply go and ask him," Namine advised.
"Not so fast blondie," Kairi interrupted. "If it were that easy, then she wouldn't be coming to us. Our primary target is her ex—?" Kairi was about to slap another object, but remembered a cut out of the guy didn't exist in the first place. She quickly got a black dry erase marker and wrote the boy's name. "Irvine Kinneas!" she yelled, slamming his name on the board with her stick. "We must interrogate this man."
"Why not do it as soon as tomorrow?" Roxas asked.
"Work," Kairi retorted. "If we could freely take our days, this would be easy, but filming as we know has been fast pace these days with smaller breaks most of the day."
"She's right," Namine agreed, looking at the others. "This all needs to happen at the Island Carnival Festival."
"Which bring us to our next topic," Kairi continued, writing the name of the event on the board under Irvine's name. "The Island Carnival Festival is always held by Destiny Stadium with tons of food, rides, and live performances." From a pile, Kairi got the carnival flyer, slammed it onto the board, and put her and Roxas' pictures next to it. "Roxas, you and I will be on our little date with the two while you guys are off in a cover van to track Selphie and her date."
"You got trackers? And a van for this?" Namine said in disbelief.
"Yes. I told you. Sora and I love to play detective. I've been meaning to use it since I bought it and now I can!" Kairi surely seemed excited to be using one now. "Roxas will place one on Selphie since he's the one who can get the closest to our Yellow Bitch and I'll easily plant one on the guy. Meanwhile, you guys will be in the van keeping a close eye on the morons."
"Aww… but I really wanted to ride the rides," Sora pouted. "I heard they have a few new ones this year."
"Fine, I guess we'll need two more people out there as eyes," Kairi replied. "You and Namine!" she smirked, wanting to pair the two together. She saw it as an opportunity for feelings to arise. From a pile of pictures, she sticked the two's pictures underneath the first two.
"Wait what?" Sora was caught off guard.
"Hayner and Olette will be in the van while Pence will be in the driver's seat in case you guys get caught or something," Kairi continued, placing the three's pictures and the van she bought together.
"Wow, you really have got this down huh?" Namine said to Kairi.
"Trust me, she was planning all of this in her head when we were filming," Roxas replied.
After that, Namine's mom walked in on the others. "I sense an evil plan being carried out," she said, not sounding too concern about it while wrapping her bath robe around her and crossing her arms. "Talk about the good ol' days when I used to do them."
"I wouldn't really call it evil mom," Namine replied. "More like… revenge!"
"You used to do this Mrs. Hamasaki?" Kairi asked and she nodded.
"Before I married my husband, there was another woman who stood in the way and she was bad news. Everyone knew it, but she was very stubborn because she was used to getting everything she wanted."
"Sounds like a Selphie to me," Namine commented. "Mom, you wouldn't believe the things she said to me!"
"Now dear, the best way to take down this girl is to make sure she is down. I taught you better than that when you took down the Queen Bee back at Twilight." Everyone looked at Namine and it made her feel uncomfortable. Granted she helped plot against an evil girl, she never imagined she would get the chance to go it again with these famous actors.
"We've heard about what Namine and her friends did," Roxas replied, looking at his friend. "But I still find it hard to believe she got an award called 'badass.' I mean, she doesn't look like it."
"Hey!" Namine felt slightly offended.
"There's always more to my daughter. Sometimes she doesn't know it herself," Mrs. Hamasaki continued, taking a seat next to Sora. "Plus, I had a vendetta against the girl's mother when we bumped into each other at the grocery store, so it was a two-for-two."
"Wow. Can you be my mother?" Kairi asked, admiring the woman already. "I can easily replace Namine. We practically can be twins…" Kairi paused shortly to examine the blond's features. "Sort of, so I can take her spot."
"Kairi!" Namine yelled and her mom laughed.
Soon enough, Pence raised his hand and Kairi called him out. "Do you guys honestly believe she wants to get back with her boyfriend? I mean, we all know she isn't going to change, so I don't see the point in this. There has to be something else. The girl has the rap sheet."
"Sounds like this girl possibly has some sort of leverage on him," Mrs. Hamasaki queued in.
"Blackmail…" Kairi replied. "Of course, why didn't I think of that?" she continued, writing the word down and looked at the white board as a whole.
"But why stay a couple?" Namine wondered and recalled what the troubled girl mentioned earlier about repairing the girls' image. "Her image."
"Yes," Kairi replied. "When Selphie was going through a rough phase with her bad girl image, that slowly started to diminish when she started dating Irvine because many saw him to be a perverted yet a smooth ladies man. Many have reported that he seemed to have weaken her cold heart, which in return—."
"Made her a good girl…" Sora finished. "So the whole point of this is because she wants to maintain that image."
"And that break up we heard on the news, followed by a shoe fight with the girl who got her fired…" Roxas trailed off. "It was all going downhill. Wow, the girl sure can plan ahead fast."
"Man, you celebrities and your image," Namine complained. "You guys worry too much about it."
"Namine, need I remind you that image is everything?" Kairi retorted. "Sure it doesn't really matter for normal people like you, but for us, it does. A good image will always return the favor with many opportunities, such as movies, commercials, late night show appearances, endorsements, and many more. A bad image will make people turn their backs on you because many will think you're difficult to work with and that you're not worth the money to be spent on."
"Ugh, I feel like I sold my soul to the devil," Namine whined. "My privacy is kind of gone and I don't even know how people see me."
"Your image?" Roxas replied. "When you first stepped into the spotlight, you had haters because many couldn't believe a girl like you with no experience managed to get a job here."
"How comforting to hear…" Namine growled, not wanting to hear the news anymore.
"But that shortly stopped when people saw you to be very friendly, free-spirited, humble, and loving despite how nervous you looked or your public speaking skills," Roxas continued. "And when you visited Twilight Town, many thought it was nice of you to be visiting your own hometown. I think it was all thanks to your school blog, which went viral, and wrote wonderful things about you."
"I can tell Xion and many others have been helping me," Namine said, feeling warm inside. However, she couldn't believe she never heard of such news. Then again, she barely paid attention to what was going on with the world. She had been pretty isolated with work taking up her hours and days. She was sure though that half of the school, not including her junior class, didn't even know who she was until she appeared on Destiny Island.
"Yeah, yeah," Kairi touted. "We get it. The public loves you. Now back to this whole revenge. With the high possibility that Selphie is blackmailing Irvine, then we have to figure out what it is, and look at all possible angles."
"Possible angles?" Olette curiously asked.
"This is Selphie we're talking about," Kairi replied. "She may be annoying, but she's not stupid either. If the blackmail were to be digital, then she probably has made copies in case something were to happen."
"Where are we going to find someone who can be all techy and erase the data from a computer?" Sora asked.
"Leave that to me!" Kairi pointed to herself. "I'm going to call an old friend who happens to be good with computers."
"If it's who I think it is, then you better hurry because she is leaving the islands soon to film a movie," Sora told her.
"But she's the only who can do this," Roxas added. Namine felt lost because she had no clue who the three were talking about.
"I'm lost here…" Namine announced, playing with her fingers.
"We mean Rikku," Roxas answered.
"Riku? My Riku…?"
"No, not you're devilishly handsome friend," Kairi snapped. "Rik-ku. Our Rikku. She's pretty good with computers for someone who happens to be our age. One time she hacked into the mili—!" Kairi immediately stopped when she remembered everyone was under oath that very day. "…This hard place to hack in." Namine raised her eyebrow and Kairi nervously laughed it off. "Anyway, now that we got everything laid out. I think we're good. Now gimme some pizza!" she cheered, grabbing a piece and taking a sip from her drink. Everyone one else then went on to chat with each other while Namine's mom got up from her seat and walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
"Did I ever tell how awesome of a mom you are?" Namine claimed and her mom smiled while getting water from the refrigerator.
"Yes. Many times before Nami. You know how much I love you and your happiness means the world to me. You and your siblings."
"But mainly me and Cloud right?" she smiled.
"I love all three of you equally." Sora soon joined the two.
"Hi Sora," Mrs. Hamasaki greeted. "I hope you and your friends are feeling comfortable here."
"Thank you very much," he happily replied. "Sorry if we were too loud."
"It's no big deal. My husband and I were just watching a movie upstairs and Larxene went out tonight."
"I am still hungry, so I'm going to grab more pizza!" Namine excitedly said with a huge smile across her face and left while her mother take a sip of her mother.
"Mrs. Hamasaki…" Sora asked. He felt a little hesitant to continue because he couldn't believe he was in the mood to ask questions when he should have done it in the beginning.
"Yes Sora? Is there something you want to tell me?"
"Do you… remember me?"
"Of course I remember you. How could I forget the boy who always played with my little Namine?" Sora's eyes popped open because she responded so casually. She even appeared calm about it. "Did I say something wrong?"
"N-no. It's just… why? How come you remember me and Namine doesn't?" he stammered, wanting some answers, and Mrs. Hamasaki was surprised by his reaction.
"Sora, I… now is not the best time for some answers, but I promise you will get them. Just not now." That was the only answer she gave before heading back upstairs and it left him a bit frustrated, but she was right. There had to be another time to deal with Namine's missing year of memories. He just hoped it was soon because he felt this whole thing has been dragging on as he couldn't confront Namine herself about it. He wouldn't know how to approach about it either until the right time comes.
It was nice to bring a "villain" to start some trouble. Any idea what Selphie is possibly planning? Of course I know, but what do you guys think? Let me know what you think in the review section.
Thanks for reading and leave a review or any thoughts if you can!
