Chapter 10: Anniversary

TWO MONTHS LATER

"Ok finish that chapter over the weekend and we can start your projects on Monday." Jess smiled at the class, the bell had just rung signalling the end of the day and Jess couldn't be happier. Today was her and Nick's two month anniversary. She was so excited it was the longest relationship she had, had in 7 years. After the class left Jess sat back down at her desk falling into a deep day dream about the day that Nick officially asked her to be his girlfriend.

FLASHBACK

"Ok Matt have you got everything I don't want you running back at 11 tonight wondering where your toothbrush is."

"Yeah Nick I've checked 5 times, you are starting to sound like my mom."

"Well you have been staying here for two weeks, I know you were meant to go home when your mom and sister got out of hospital but I wanted them to have some time to settle, so anyway my point is that you had a lot of stuff and I feel responsible for you like I have been for the last two weeks."

"Ok Nick I have everything and thank you for doing a wonderful job keeping me up past my bed time playing video games making my teacher forgive me for missing assignments and for feeding me up on ice-cream. I've had a blast."

Matt and Nick were both laughing, not noticing Jess walking in from the living room into Matt's bedroom. "What did I hear about making me forgive missing assignments?"

Their laughter subsided "umm Jess hey, didn't hear you come through Matt wasn't being serious about that he umm.. Matt" Nick looked at Matt even though he was only 7 he was quick on his feet.

"Yeah I wasn't being serious it was a joke about how he has done the complete opposite." Matt smiled sweetly at Jess knowing she would always forgive that face.

"Right, but I expect all your homework done by next Friday." Jess said in teacher mode. Matt looked down knowing it hadn't worked but knew he wouldn't be in grave trouble mumbled, "Yes Miss Day."

Jess looked back at Nick "and as for you well what were you thinking about using the fact that were umm… you know hanging out to stop him from handing in assignment's." Jess felt awkward finishing that sentence because to be honest she didn't know what they were. Sure they had hung out most nights before Jess leaving at about 9pm then coming back after work and sure they kissed well a lot when Matt wasn't looking, but they still hadn't been able to have a proper date with Matt staying with Nick, they just haven't had the time. Also they never discussed if they were officially boyfriend and girlfriend they have just been floating around the subject for the last two weeks.

"Ok Jess don't get mad, umm well umm …." He gave up trying to explain and just leaned over and kissed her to see if that would make her drop it. Jess was a bit dazed after it from the surprise and that feeling she always got from Nick, "well just don't do it again."

"Ok ," Matt and Nick gave each other a little fist bump that they thought Jess hadn't been seen by Jess, but being a women she noticed, but being nice she just giggled a little bit inside.

"Well we have to get this monkey home before six or your mom will kill me."

Nick, Matt and Jess left Nick's bedroom to go and drop Matt home.

"You know Jess I'm really gunna miss having him around, since I started being manager at the bar I hardly ever got to see him this was really nice though. Then again it would be nice to go on a real date."

"That it is very true." They both leaned over from their respected seats in Nick's car and kissed. "Jess can I ask you something."

"Sure." Jess felt a surge of nerves and excitement but still not completely aware of what Nick actually intended on asking.

"Well earlier when you were asking why I let Matt skip out on homework you didn't really know what to say, and well I've been thinking of asking you this for the last two weeks but never got the courage to do it, but I was wondering if you would um maybe actually be my girlfriend officially?"

Inside Jess squealed with excitement. She broke into a beautiful beaming smile, "I would love to be your girlfriend."

"So know as my official boyfriend lets go out tonight for our first real date."

"Let's go."

Nick quickly leaned over again to kiss her, however their quick peck turned to a long kiss pulling away after about ten minutes, "ok let's go" And off they went.

"Well, well look who has gooey love eyes."

Jess shook her head at the sound of her best friend's voice, "oh CeCe you scared me."

"So tonight's the big night huh?"

"Yeah, I'm so excited, I've never felt this way about anyone and that's including Spencer, not that that's hard." Both CeCe and Jess laughed at that.

"Well are you gunna finally tell him tonight?"

"Tell him what?"

"Oh I don't know how much tax you pay, no, that you love him."

"I don't…we've only been dating for 2 months…it's a little fast…umm…oh fine I love him." Cracking under the look from her best friend.

CeCe giving her knowing look said, "Good now you have admitted it to me now all you have to do is tell Nick and I think tonight is the perfect night to do it."

"What if he doesn't feel the same way?"

"Oh he does I can tell."

"How? You have only seen him a handful of times."

"Ok you know when we went to the bar last week?"

"Yeah we were going to hang out with him and his friends."

"Yeah well I saw the way he looked at you when you walked in and how he was the entire night."

"How does the way he acted say he loves me?"

FLASHBACK

CeCe and Jess walked into the bar, they were meeting Nick, Schmidt and Winston for a drink. Schmidt and Winston were both sat at the bar waiting for the girls to arrive while Nick was serving another customer before he took his break. Once Nick heard the door open he looked up and his eyes locked with a sparkling pair of blue ones from across the room, a smile as big as a cheesier cat grew on his stressed face. CeCe saw the look and could immediately see the love between the two.

"Hey Nick," Jess said as they got to the bar leaning over to give each other a quick peck. "Hey guys how you been?"

"We're good just discussing Schmidt's failed attempts of flirting with the girl over there." They all looked over to see a blond by the jukebox looking disgusted. They all laughed while Schmidt look offended, he brushed it off when he saw CeCe, "Well Hello again Cecilia."

"Hello Schmidt." She said in a clipped tone.

"This is going to get interesting very quickly isn't it?" Winston whispered to Nick and Jess. They both looked over at the couple and nodded.

Once Nick took his break they all sat in a booth and conversation was flowing, well mainly between Schmidt and CeCe. Well you can't call it a conversation more Schmidt trying to flirt badly. But Nick and Jess were to wrapped up in each other to really notice, poor Winston had no one to talk to.

"You know that it's our two month anniversary next week, well I was thinking dinner, movie and a stroll along a beach like our first date?" Jess said

"Sounds good to me." They were both giggling, kissing each other, leaning their foreheads on each other, looking into each other's eyes.

On the other side of the table CeCe whispered to Winston and Schmidt "they are disgustingly cute aren't they it makes you feel like you want someone more."

"Oh you think this is bad you should see Nick when Jess isn't around, he's always smiling and happy, I've never seen him like that ever, and it's kinda disturbing." Schmidt said while he shivered.

"But you know Cecilia you wouldn't feel alone if you would give this king a chance."

"Yeah in a million years Schmidt."

"See he clearly loves you."

"Yeah maybe, I guess I could tell him at the beach."

"Good and I know he loves you. Now let's get you ready you only have 3 hours until Nick's picking you up."

"Ok let's go."

They both left the class laughing, talking about what Jess was going to wear.

Knock Knock

"Hi Nick, Jess is nearly ready, come in."

Nick walked in behind CeCe, with a bunch of roses for Jess. "Wow… You look great Jess."

Jess was wearing a dark blue vintage dress with a sweet heart neck line with small sleeves, the skirt flared out at the bottom with a small dark blue bow on the side of the waist. Jess blushed, "Thanks Nick you look good too."

"These are for you," he said handing over the flowers "Thank you." Jess went and put the flowers in some water and grabbed her purse, "You ready to go?"

"Yeah, Bye CeCe."

"Bye have fun."

The evening had gone wonderfully, they had gone to a fancy restaurant by the beach and went and saw an old movie at a vintage cinema and were now walking along the beach. The conversation was constantly flowing, well if they weren't kissing.

"Thanks for a lovely evening Nick."

"No problem I've had a great night too. Actually I've had the best two months of my life with you."

Jess blushed and looked down at her feet, "These have been the best two months of my life too."

Nick grabbed her other hand and looked into her eyes, "Jess I've never felt this way about anyone and umm… I love you Jess."

"I love you too Nick, I love you more than I have ever loved anyone."

Nick leaned down to kiss her, Jess wrapped her arms around Nick's neck while he wrapped his arms around her waist.

For the rest of the evening they laid down on the beach looking up at the stars cuddling, both never had been happier.
